Now, here is the recommendation. If you are in an NTSC region (US, etc) then the Region 1 discs are best for picture quality an smoothness because PAL has a different frame rate. However it must be noted that there are a few little things that annoyed me about the Rhino release.
1) The boxes are not all the same size. (It sounds minor, but it looks out of place when they stand next to by shiny, symmetrical Generation 1 boxed sets)
2) There are a couple of special features but not alot.
3) One of the plastic DVD holder tabs snapped off (although that could have been from overuse

Now if you have no care in the world about the crystal clear picture quality and want to hear Scott making fun of Gary then the PAL discs are for you. Chock-full of special features. Shiny, symmertrical, sturdy boxes. And, alliteration aside, they are cheaper than the Rhino release (or at least they were for me). It must be said that I do own both The Rhino and the Madman releases as well as all of Season 1 and some of Season 2 on Tape (basically if I saw anything with the Beast Wars label I would throw money at the person who was holding it and run out of the store clutching my new goodies
