Scorponok was one of the first Beast Warriors.  He was a Predacon and perhaps the most loyal to Megatron (along with Inferno, that is.)  He was the only Predacon scientist who did not use his inventions to betray his leader and he tried as best as he could to invent things to help the Predacon cause. One of his infamous inventions was the Viral Mind that attached itself to Optimus. It's purpose was to turn Optimus into a coward, but unfortunately it did the opposite!

 

He may not have been the most intelligent transformer, but he did try hard to impress Megatron, wanting to live up to the title 'second-in-command'.  It was a sad way to go when Scorponok died in the episode "Aftermath".  After the quantum surge hit, both he and Terrorsaur fell into the lava pits at the Predacon base and were destroyed.  We never got to see what they would have been like as transmetals.

 

Still, Scorpy will be remembered as the dumb, cute one who did try his very best to impress in the Beast Wars.
