Beta Readers

All fanfics need to be sent to a beta reader before they are accepted to the site's archives.

Why the need for beta readers?

Because Bwint.net receives a large number of fanfics on a weekly basis, the site owner can no longer keep up with the load. It was made a policy years back that every fanfic that gets sent in gets checked for suitable content (nothing 18yrs+) and for a decent level of grammar and spelling. Because of the sheer size of the site, the web mistress can no longer do this, so she has people helping her. As a matter of respect for their readers, every writer should have their fic proofread before making it public, (and that goes for established authors, too) because you need someone with a fresh eye to check it.

What will the beta readers do, and how strict are the rules of acceptance?

The betra readers will only check that the fic's content does not go above the PG13 age restriction and that it has a decent level of grammar and spelling. They will fix minor errors. They will not change the content of your story in any way. They will only give a constructive crit if you ask for it. However, if you make repeated errors, they will probably contact you to let you know where you're going wrong so you can improve as a writer. As for how strict the rules are for fanfic acceptance, we're not very strict at all. As long as you have shown you have put effort into writing a fic and checked basic things like the correct spelling of character names, have used paragraphs etc. then you will be fine. What if my fanfic is in another language, or my first language is not English?

If your fanfic is in another language, you have permission to email it directly to the site owner (Sapphire) who will communicate with you about content etc. Fanfics in other languages are happily accepted. If English is NOT your first language, you still need to send the fic to a beta reader, but you must let him/her know that you're writing in a second or third language and they will be much kinder in their crits etc.

Below are a list of beta readers you can send your fic to. After they've checked the fic, they will pass it on to Sapphire as an official submission.

Starath is an established author at the site with an excellent level of English. She will kindly help you improve your fics if you're open to her advice. Otherwise, she will just check and make minor edits where needed. If you want an honest but not unkind review from a beta reader, Starath's the person to contact.

Razor One:

Razor One is a new beta reader but he has already edited a number of fics and is very happy to give your story a thorough edit, checking for more than just spelling and grammar, but for continuity errors, plot holes and areas of weakness. If all you want is a standard check for incorrect spelling and grammar, let him know, otherwise he will fully dedicate himself to checking your fanfic for errors of any sort and he will provide feedback on how and where you can improve.
