just...art

not bw related or anything like that. i know a lot of you post art and photography on devientart or whatever, but im too boneidle to go to those sites and look them up, as much as i want to.

so please, post any random bits of art you are particularly proud of here for all to see! for example, my yr 10 textiles examination piece that i got an A for:

Image

Media: Batik wax, baik ink...basically bati...to those who dont know what that is its puting a design on a sheet of fabric with a special specific kind of wax (at least i think specific, i guess it dosnt matter) and filling in the gaps with definately special ink. normal ink is messy and looks naff and sometimes it eats through the wax imprints. you can cover a whole piece of fabric in wax and try out a process caled 'cracking'. basically crumple up the waxed fabric to make cracks and dunk it in a pot of ink. you can also bleed colours into eachother. i have used 2 of above techniques: regula fill-in batik and bleeding the colours!

i hope you like it! :D

our artist model was georgia o'keefe, who specialised in flowers grew up in wisconsin something like that, and we had to do an imitation piece of hers and this was mine:

Image

(the black bits are the imprints of the insod of my sketchbook...i was NOT a happy bunny! )

Media: oil pastels...i cannot tell you how LONG this took! im such a perfectionist the slightest mistake made me go CRAZY! luckily with oil pastels you can cratch the surface layer off if need be.

i have more of my exam prep if you like, but the quality of the scanned images are not that bril. i took those pics above with my camera...i should prob do the same for the others...hmm...

i could show you last year's work, which i only got a C for, but that's only because my teacher was one of the most hypocritical *rude insults* of a woman you'd ever meet.she hated my guts and my work wasn't sent to london, so i believe i got a biased result. another teacher for the same subject from another school said i would've got an A, but again, biased result...

i would like to see however, other peeps' work before going on another rant about my own. as you can see, i more into fabrics and crafts than actual painting, but im still in the middle of an oil painting of a cheetah ( ) tht i started a year ago! (not been working on it, but still no excuse...*slaps wrist*

well? any taker? come on i know there are a lot of artsy people on this board, and ur not shy of it either! (OOP? *wink*)

imvery interested to see what tlent we have here other than really cool BW fanart and tapdancing monkeys! :P

Very nice, Jagna! I really like that tile! It looks like a lilly of some sort; tiger lilly? I looooove lillies. XD

I don't think I really have anything on here yet from high school or college... I'll have to dig some of those up sometime. Most of them are much bigger than my scanner, though. :?

In any case, I'll post some of my photography. And most of the photos are pets I know or own. I love taking pictues of animals and nature the most. ^.^ And close-ups are a specialty.

This is my big orange tabby peeking through the stair railing. He often doesn't sit still long enough for good pictures but I got lucky on this morning.
Image

This photo was published by the International Society of Photographers. I had found a contest on-line and figured I'd throw in one of my favorite photos, not really expecting to win anything. XD His name is Tucker and he belongs to my brother and his fiancé, who adopted him. He's a sweet heart. I happened to catch him laying on the kitchen floor underneath a chair where the sun was casting a shadow of the chair's legs over his face. I zoomed in and snatched the picture. I love his eyes. :D
Image

Another one of my favorites even though it was just a simple zoom. But I love the innocence that his face expresses. His name was Maverick, yes, named after Top Gun. He was my older sister's kitten who she acquired through a friend, along with his sister Cinder. Even though he was orange and she's a brown tabby, they looked exactly alike. I've put everything about him in past tense because he died only eight weeks old. Vets claimed feline leukemia (sp?) but they weren't really a vet I trusted. Anyway, as sad as the story is, he was a very sweet kitten. I'm happy to say that Cinder is a healthy adult now, but she's a real pain in the butt when it comes to discipline. LoL She really knows how to push my sister's buttons on purpose. If I'm not mistaken, she was the only survivor of her litter. :(
Image

This was a simple close-up of a tulip I took. I love the vibrant colors.
Image

A dragonfly I came across while strolling through the woods.
Image

A Scarlet Ibis I captured at the Baltimore Aquarium. I love that place. XD Beautiful bird.
Image

And a shy little toad.
Image

A really creepy black spider I found one day. It looks like something from Aliens, if you ask me. This is a view looking at it's belly upside down.
Image

Okay, I think that's enough from me for now. LoL I don't want to go all photo crazy on you guys here. XD I have tons and tons of photos.

I also apologize for the quality of these specific photos. I was using my crummy digital cam-corder for these because our film camera had broken years ago and I only just bought a new and better, smaller digital camera last summer, which was a year after I went to the Aquarium. What a difference in the pixels between those two digitals. Well worth the money. XD

That wax-ink-fabric piece is really nifty! I love the colors!

For just using the zoom, OOP, your up-close photography is wonderful.

I'm not really much of a photographer (I just take pictures of things; whether or not they turn out well is left more to chance than anything), but this is one of my favorite photos:

Image

I like this one because I like rocks, and I caught my brother in midair:

Image

I really like this next piece because it was my first time working with a large amount of ink (everything except the border was inked in either black or white), and it turned out really well.

wow, i do a bit of photography myself! im quite good, being modest, but thats cause my dad's a pro and he's been teaching me my whole life...its bloody torture from time to time! he evenmade a pro phothgapher in london take his advice for a portrait of him and his sisters! the guy got really annoyed and tld him to sit down and shut up. lol

thts a real cool ink drawing there Miss S! and i LOVE the flower you took OOP! pwetty colours!

this is a photo i took on a really nice day some time in 2005 (march i think) i was walking with my dad with his highly expensive pro digital camera around my neck cause i was workingon a photography project for textile. i needed references to building structures and what-not.
Image
appearances may be deceiving: it may look like an olympic sized swimming pool, but its just a small paddling pool thing along a nice little walkway in the Kuwait City Bay. pretty huh?

this is another section of the 'monument'
Image
the pool is just beyond the pillars if you look at it

this is just a really cool building. iv known about it for years but still cannot remember the bloody name! i think its the Al-Sabah Complex, in Salmiya
Image

(as you see OOP, i have loads of photos too! )

possibly the best watercolour iv ever done. a cute litle flower that i grew in my garden (this was also for my exam prep) iv got a collage of some flowers if you want to se it, but its a bit small.
Image

this isn't one of my best photos (in fact iv got some REALLY good ones of guys on jet skis), but i like that its an action shot.
Image

and this is one of my favourites of my cat. i have thousands, but this is the one i had access to...
Image
inne cuuuute? *^_^*^_^*^_^* his name is Smokey, and we've had him since he wa a kitten. which was...12 years ago now. i know, hes an old man! all he does is lie down all over our work so we'd scratch his chin for him. *melts* he's my baby. but he gets really irritating when he smells chicken. when we r cooking it, he comes up to us and rub against our legs hoping to get some. aaaaw but he's SOOOOOOO CUUUUUUTE!

ahem...that will do for now. but ill be back dont you worry!

oh, and OOP, maybe if you just take a pic f your art? i did that, you just need to set the digital camera setting to 'detailed'...usually its the symbol of the flower, lol!
