Dinobot.....is a Tragic Hero?
In my English honors class, My teacher was talking about a tragic hero
She says that a tragic hero by definition
-has a tragic flaw
-dies a tragic but Honorable death
-Not totally good but not totally bad either
-makes a judgmental error
There are others but when she was teaching this I thought Of Dinobot he matches most of the descriptions
I just wanna to know what yoy guys think

Yup, Dinobot is a tragic hero. He's great, but his hyprocrisy, doubt, and warrior's pride kinda contributed to his downfall. Well, maybe not hypocrisy, but the other two are definitely tragic flaws.
There's more to that than meets the eye.

i love tragic characters! esp dinobot!
but una, hav u read macbeth? im assuming those were just the first few she taught u about a tragic character, coz what my teacher was discussing with the class was how you could relate the same traits to Blanche DuBois in a streetcar named desire!!!
i wouldnt even begin to compare dinotbot to flippin othello, but i think of anything i have read or seen, ol' lizard lips is the only one iv ever related to.
ps...aint lit hard? stupid assessment objectives!
die shakespear. BURN IN THE PITT!

Have you read that book Jagna?
I think I would of enjoy writing about Dinobot more interesting

i have written a poem in dedication to Dinobot...i wrote it a while ago, and i think this is a reflection of his tragic elements and his internal struggle...i think this might be what he was thinking before the human valley incident (*bawls her eyes out*) sniff. here it is:
Tear me open, pour me out.
Bear witness to my sins
From all that I have led to see:
Tear me open. Pour me out.
Battle is my morning route,
Fighting inwards, slaughter out.
All this pain that’s just external:
Made internal,
Bear witness to my crimes.
All external. Made internal.
If we all are merely mortal
Can there be a god? that
Walks among us; tall and strong,
No. there is only the
Warrior.
Rip me open, crash me out,
Hear this thing I am today:
Warrior, I say.
Just external. Just internal.
...
what do you think?
Tear me open, pour me out.
Bear witness to my sins
From all that I have led to see:
Tear me open. Pour me out.
Battle is my morning route,
Fighting inwards, slaughter out.

Alas poor Tarantulas I knew him Cheetor! This is the leg that stalked so many
To be or not to be that is the question. If these disks... etc.
I love Shakespearian tales and there is no other way that you could have made Dinobot and let him get away with half of the stuff he did. Hamlet is my personal favourite play and I love how the writers envoked all of the best characteristics of Shakespeare in both Dinobot and Silverbolt. Dinobot is probably closest to Hamlet (sans the insanity.. kind of) with a slight mix of Macbeth thrown in there, but I say Hamlet because he is caught in this great stuggle, both in the events around him and the choices he has to make. The "To be or not to be" is taken directly from Hamlet and this is Hamlet's contemplation of suicide (I'm not going to give the plot away for those who have not seen/read the play), and it is equally a difficult choice as Dinobot contemplates destroying the disks. Additionally, Dinobot was definitely thinking of killing himself at the beginning of Code of Hero but ultimately fights on to the warrior's death he so deserved.
While I'm on a sufficient rant, I'll add the Silverbolt analogy here too. Silver is a cross between Romeo and Othello. Romeo is the whole "Dark poison of my heart" side of things and Othello is the "green eyed monster" of jealousy which appears when Cheetor gets into TM2 mode. Having this jealous nature does not make him evil or have a dark side (come on its Silver!) it just makes him more "human" for want of a better word. It is quite ironic (and I speak now from my own experience) how those who are the most romantic end up being quite possessive. It is a positive form of possession and if the other person enjoys love attention being lavishly given to them, then everything is good and well. However, this attention can become overbearing. That's why Blackarachnia and Silverbolt work so well. Silver is always giving 110% and she is an ambitious girl who enjoys achieving and being given all this attention (even if she says she doesn't).
Blast! Who's idea was this? It is a very dangerous thing to get me started on Shakespeare and combining it with Beast Wars is just bad all round. You're lucky I stopped ranting after two paragraphs
