Beast Wars 10th Anniversary fan celebration
Hi everyone,
In case you didn't check out last week's update, there was a poll hosted to ask what we, as fans, should do to celebrate 10 years of our favourite show. The option that won was "some sort of media, maybe a video or song". Now, I don't have any experience making videos or songs, but because this is supposed to be a FAN celebration, I was hoping other fans would help me out on this. When discussing at Botcon and in a recent chat what we should do to celebrate, someone (I forget who) suggested a Bwint Podcast. (If you don't know what a podcast is, check it out here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast ) Auto Assemblty has one on their site and I think it is a marvellous idea. It's a way for the Bwint members to interact with the site visitors, the fans and with each other. We could have a monthly podcast, with special programs, all centereing around Beast Wars. People could send in voice acting skits, fan fic readings, BW-themed radio plays and so on, and I could brief people each month on what was new with the site. It's a fun way of using media to spice up the site. What do you guys think? Would anyone be interested in taking part? Or do you have better ideas for what we could do, media wise?

it' mighta been me that suggested it. I can't recall, though, only that a lotta people liked the idea, and we agreed upon it being a cool thing to do.
And I'm all for the podcasts. Dude, I need a microphone, but I'm totally for the podcasting idea.

I'd be happy to contribute in anyway I can!
I'd say just start with a podcast and see where it goes. It may evolve (or transform >.>) into a different medium or it may become a conglomerate of different types of media.[/quote]Sapphire wrote:Or do you have better ideas for what we could do, media wise?

Maybe this pod cast could be a "show" called the "Beast Wars Top Ten" or something and it is a show where a few hosts (Sapph, Nurann, whoever lol) throughout the show introduce the top ten: episodes, memorable moments, top ten catch phrases, top ten beast warriors, top ten stasispod introductions (Tigatron, Airrazor, Inferno, Quickstrike, Silverbolt, Rampage, Transmutate, TM Optimus Primal, Dinobot 2, Depthcharge(close enough)) etc... Each of these top tens would be presentd throughout the show from 10-1. Clips from the show would be shown for each choice. Then in between showing the top ten stuff... other information about the show, writers, and any other interesting info could be presented. LIke a run through of the entire series from beginning to end the most important events.
The show should use a lot of clips from our favorite show helping us remember and get that good old nostalgic(sp?) feeling after watching this piece. Oh! One thing tho, should the top ten be chosen by the fans via polls or by the staff of BWInt? Anyway... thats my idea. I think it would be a very cool, professional way of utlizing this pod cast idea.

Well, Razor One has offered (been forced to) help, and if Crab and others help, too, with the technical side of things, this really is doable. I like your idea, Skyfire, but I think for now we'll just stick to the audio podcasting. We should "test the water", so to speak, with the idea and see how popular it is. I think everyone's for a podcast so now people need tp brainstorm on what to add to it as content.

Let me know what you need assistance with. I've got quite a few media capabilities and tools at my disposal.
If you're looking for a free program to record and mix the cast, I suggest Audacity. That link is to the portable app version. You just download it, and run it when you want to. There is no installation necessary, you can put it on a USB jump drive if you want to, and to delete it you just delete the file itself (which is 5 MB).
Even if you choose not to use Audacity, I would suggest finding a common piece of software so that everyone is working with the same stuff. That way there are no compatability issues involved with transfering files from one person to the next.

Skyfire, dude, you read my mind! For the last couple of days I've been thinking of making up a top 10 list to add to the podcast project! Lol I was just thinking audio, too, with maybe some sound clips from the show. Along with the potential lists you suggested, what do you think of a "Top Ten Beast Wars Speeches Everyone Should Know"? *currently owes her sanity to Waspinator's "resignation from the Predacons" speech*
Another thing I saw done once on another forum... How many musicians do we have here? Maybe someone can make some BW-based songs so we can have a sort of radio broadcast?
Oh, yes, and I vote that Outty be a DJ. He's got experience, after all *pokes Outty*

If your going to do a show, make it a partial spoof morning radio show with the Charicters as the guys who talk! you can call it WBST, with you hosts, Megatron amd Optimus Primal. Weather with waspinator (who gets slaged by a natural disaster), on scene reports with various other guys, and anything else you can think of. you can hold voice tryouts for each part.
The great thing about the bBeast Wars toys that never got any time on the air in the TV show is that there personalities are up to the imaganation

Well, the recording process is really simple and all you need is a mic and a small downloadable program. I'll be providing links to free online software later. It doen't require much technical skill, or so I'm told.
What I really need people to do is tell me what they'd personally like to do for the podcast. Who wants to do a voice acting skit? Fan Fic reading? MSTF? Beast Wars tribute program? Tell me what you'd like to do, and I'll assign you a slot in the program, and we can start work on this thing. Just remember you'll need a mic! You can get them for $10 at Walmart or equivalent store.

What we should do is organise the program on a skit basis.
We'd have
The Intro - 2 minutes
Skit 1 - 5 minutes
Skit 2 - 5 minutes
Skit 3 - 10 minutes
Skit 4 - 5 Minutes
The Outro - 3 minutes
Skit ideas could range from anything to being an interview with a beast wars character ("Huh? Wazzpinator not agree to interview!") to actors commentary from a quoted scene ("This scene was most enjoyable! Yesss, especially after I snuck bad energon into Primals food!").
Of course, other skits might be fanfic readings, adapted for podcast of course and may occupy larger timeslots if necessary. The above itinerary was figured for a half hour broadcast and could be extended up or down if necessary.
As to various skit ideas...
Interview with a Beast Warrior
Character Commentary on an episode or scene (Which can be done several different ways)
"Dear Diary..." of a BW Character
Fan discussion of an episode (serious, mocking, or otherwise).
Fanfic reading
Scenes from Monty Python as re-enacted by Beast Wars Characters!
We'd have
The Intro - 2 minutes
Skit 1 - 5 minutes
Skit 2 - 5 minutes
Skit 3 - 10 minutes
Skit 4 - 5 Minutes
The Outro - 3 minutes
