Masterpiece Optimus Primal!

I know most of you don't really follow the toys anymore, but I figured you'd want to know about this.

TakaraTOMY is putting out a Masterpiece Optimus Primal next year, and it will be as close to the show model as possible, if this "preview pic" is anything to go by:

Also of note is that TakaraTOMY said 2016 will be the "year of Masterpiece Beast Wars", so I would assume at the very least we'll also be getting a Masterpiece BW Megatron next year.

Not all TakaraTOMY Masterpiece releases make it to the Western market (and if they do there tends to be a substantial-- as in, multiple years-- delay), so it might not necessarily show up in North America-- you might have to order it from Bigbadtoystore or some other store that can get in import items.

Looks like he'll have his wrist cannons, swords, shoulder cannons, light-up eyes, and three different ape faces for different expressions! Only thing I'm not terribly fond of is that his ape mode doesn't look all that great hunched over... but then again, his beast mode in the show didn't look "right" in that position, either...

Preorders for MP Optimus Primal are now up at the usual online retailers-- due out in October, most retailers are selling him for ~$120 U.S.
