Beast Hunters

Unread post by The Crab »

That's the name of the two new copywrites that Hasbro has filed for, both for toys and television.

For those of you who don't know, "Beast Hunters" was the tentative name for what would eventually become Beast Machines.

So, with that being said... Are we finally getting a new Beast Wars show? :D Only time will tell.
Is the answer to this question "No"?

It still rings rather clearly in my head that two (three?) Botcons ago, someone asked Aaron Archer at the Hasbro panel whether there were any plans to bring back Beast Wars, and he said, "That's a GREAT idea! I'd sure love to do that!", in a tone that implied they were in the early stages of doing something like that.

Sounds intriguing. Hopefully it will develop into something really good. :D

It looks like it's the "theme" for Season 3 of Transformers: Prime, and we should start seeing it in Fall of 2013. Makes further sense when you consider that IDW's "Rage of the Dinobots" comic miniseries, which begins in November, will apparently lead up to said Season 3.

From a Spanish presentation (clearly a placeholder pic, but I think there's little doubt we're getting new Beast TFs from all this):

Interesting. I wonder how much they will focus on "beasts." I liked Blackarachnia and Waspinator in Transformers: Animated, but I'm really in the mood for "more" beasts.

It's been confirmed by Hasbro at NYCC-- Beast Hunters is indeed the subtitle for the third season of Transformers Prime, and they rolled out the new schtick for the line in a big way at their panel. Below you can find pictures of some of the new beasts (all of a mythical bent and all bad guys-- Predacons, though the faction symbol for them is a dragon face, so it's different from Beast Wars), as well as the Mad Max-style upgrades some of the Autobots get to fight this new threat:

And at the link below, you can see a preview clip from what I presume is early in Season 3, showing off in a rather dramatic way the entrance of Predaking, the leader of the Predacons:

Cool. I'll look forward to what happens in this third season of "Beast Hunters." Some of the new "beast" toys look pretty neat too.

Sounds and looks pretty cool, though it doesn't sound like any maximals will be appearing, just the preds (not complaining mind you, the predacons rule, missed them big time, hopefully at least one of them will become a permanent member of Megatron's inner circle instead of being relegated to a new breed of cannon fodder army like the Insecticons...Alas poor Hardshell, we hardly knew thee).

It looks as though the new Preds are gonna be the Cybertronian equivalent of dinosaurs, so its sadly unlikely that we'll see many familiar pred faces unless they're of draconian origin. I think one of the new toys "Twinstrike" is modeled after the G1 Terrorcon Sinnertwin.

Yeah, he is. Same colors, too-- they just couldn't name him Sinnertwin anymore because... well, I don't think you could get away with naming a kids' toy character-- even a bad guy-- "Sinner" anymore.

There actually IS one Predacon that's a (slight) homage to a Beast Wars Predacon, although a Japanese Beast Wars Predacon-- the Predacon KRE-O snake Corhada/Cohrada:

Yeah, guess Sinnertwin was too hardcore XD, we've gotten more prudish it seems (despite the fact that this show has the biggest death toll for transformers ever lol).

Corhada always baffled me, I mean, a snake is an choice for a beast mode, but logically speaking a humanoid type robot would never be able to contort into such a thin, limbless form lol

BTW, which version of the Predacon insignia do you like best? The oldschool Insect themed emblem or the newschool dragon emblem?

The old one, definitely. It's more inventive. Just having a dragon face for an insignia is... eh. Particularly since if you look at the official pictures of a lot of the Beast Hunters stuff, you'll see on the Predacons a completely different allegiance symbol that's more original than either of the official Predacon emblems.

Oh wow...You're right! Why'd they do that? I mean, I'm partial to both the original symbol and the new dragon symbol, but why advertise the dragon insignia if there's a completely different symbol altogether on the toys themselves?
