And it was also Mardi Gras (Fasnaught Day in some cultures) so I taught the third graders in my class a bit about what a fasnaught is and why people make them the day before Ash Wednesday. And I brought in donuts for the kids (because a fasnaught is a type of donut). They were so excited. And they sang to me in two different languages (I work at a dual language charter school). lol.
And one of the second graders also had a birthday yesterday and I told him: "We're birthday buddies!!!" So I got him a card and a hot wheels car. And all day...every time he saw me...he said: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!!!" Except he's a kid so he pronounced it like this: "HAPPY BORFDAY BORFDAY BUDDY!" He was too cute!
And I got presents from my family which I haven't gotten on my birthday since I was 18 (with exception of the car I got when I turned 21). Not to mention the dozens of pictures I brought home drawn by third graders and the chocolate cake that was waiting for me for after dinner!! So it was definitely a great day!
