Blackarachnia just shook her head at the stinky rat's yapping. She didn't need to explain herself to him. He should be glad she remembered the last time she handled the alien's power. It just saved his life... or hers, but she wasn't going to dwell on that. She still was bummed by such a turn of events.

"You didn't see it? I saw that white mare of yours explode missiles in thin air. Could she always do that? Or was that just a fluke?" Seeing that for herself remembered her of what Megatron always called that Maximal horse. He called her a witch. Heh. Tarantulas always called her that term because he ddespised her independence and knowledge. This Maximal seemed to be an actual witch. If she was, interesting for a Maximal. Though, the horse was too sweet and nice for her. She didn't trust people who were...too nice. Even if it seemed geniune with the Maximal horse.
"So Megajerk finally decided ta show his ugly mug. Looks like we're missin' out, and I ain't hangin' around here when dis whole volcano collapses or erupts."
"Don't tell me you want to get all heroic and fight off grapeface?" She raised an optic at the rat. Because despite the fact she wants him dead, she wasn't that stupid to take him on face to face. She wanted to sneak back and put a bomb on his back and watch him explode! Or assassinate him from agreat distance. Never would she face Megatron on a one on one battle. She wasn't nuts like the ape.
"We gotta get ta lower ground,"
"Oh, that's a good idea. I will hold my breath." she said in a playful matter towards the rat. Maybe she could get a chance to get a sneak attack on Megatron. He did seem distract a bit now with the shapeshifter and the white mare. But she watched as the rat transformed into hsi vehicle mode and dash towards the huge PRedacon she didn't recognize. Where did Megatron get that monstrosity? Transforming into her beast mode, she went a different path than the rat. She is going to place herself into a place where she was least likely to get herself killed.

Whitegrazer was glad to spare some pain from her friends fighting above. Everyone seemed shocked by her ability to do such a thing. It was something she couldn't do in her state until those nanomachines helped her wound. Partially, though. Because Zodiac told them to stop, she doesn't know how much she has gained from this. The ability to use her own pain... to direct it's influence was something she long ago used to do on the battlefield. As an Empath, as her unique being distant from those she served alongside with, the horrors of the battlefield, the agony of injuries, the screams and cries from both her friends and enimeis, her own pain, the intensity of everyone's emotion concentrated into one crushing motion of dancing parts and shocking face imploding. Disgusted by her aggression, that fact she only used it to defend and help made a part of her glad she has learned from her previous errors. That she has grown ever since she was exiled. If this was a different time, she would have smiled. It must have been due to Zodiac's nanomachines trying to eat her from the inside out. The strain of it all must have been greater than she thought. Not to mention the mental and emotional turmoil of what was happening around her. As well as hours beforehand. Part of her felt better from it.

She hissed, feeliing a stinging, burning sensation on her wrist. Aching. Biting. Forced her to grip her own wrist. Noticing Zodiac had been hit by Megatron's tailgun. The domineering Predacon leader seemed to be heading their direction. No. No! Optimus doesn't need to see this tyrant in his visage. Zodiac was enough to contend with. It would cause him more agony. The sight of the Predacon who humiliated and beatened him like he was nothing. She would never forget the emotions she let herself feel from Optimus during that horrendous affair. But his sights seemed to be on her and Zodiac. Good. Let him come to her. Let him forget about Optimus. She wasn't going to allow him to even touch one finger on Optimus! Or anyone! Noticed Optimus as scrambling to find something. One of Meagtron's shots towards her gave a direct hit at her backside. Her face cringed. Bent over. Knees buckled at the force of Megatron's power.

But she remained standing.

Sitting up, she remained standing. Able to witness the volcano collapsing, hoping that Rattrap and Blackarachnia were all right.

Her optics looked upon Zodiac. She sensed it. Sensed a change inside him. Felt the beatings of those abusive guards that tore into him back at that Primus forsaken place. The image of Aurora's pain, the pain she felt when she witnessed and remembered the mechfluid on her hands and knees. The tears in her optics. He felt it. She saw the horror on his features.

She nodded, You felt it, didn't you? My emotions when I watched the little one getting shot and bleeding almost to death. You shot her. You shot her to get to me, knowing that the shockwaves of shock, horror, and grief would be transferred to Optimus. You wanted him to suffer, but now that you feel it, how does that make you feel? How does it feel to feel the pain of others, the pain you caused towards them. I remembered the first time I felt the same. I felt horror and disgust. Anger. Denial. She shook her head. It is the first lesson... The first lesson of Empathy. What would you do with such knowledge, Zodiac?

She looked up to see Umbra and Nemesis. Umbra looked displeased. Her attention went back towards Megatron and put her hand up towards him, warning him, "Get back, Megatron. Nothing would be gained here. The device is off. Destroyed. Your base is safe. There is nothing here for you."

(( OOC: This is a joint post between Phoenix and me. There's a lot going on that we wanted to cover without interruptions so it's quite lengthy as we spent a lot of time on it, but read carefully and respond to anything you want with your characters accordingly. ))
"You didn't see it? I saw that white mare of yours explode missiles in thin air. Could she always do that? Or was that just a fluke?"
"I got no idea," Rattrap had told Blackarachnia before he rolled out. "Yer probably just hallucinatin'. Tarantulas has control over yer mind again."
"Don't tell me you want to get all heroic and fight off grapeface?"
"I ain't stupid enough to go mano e mano with him, dat's Optimus's job. I prefer sniper attacks from afar," the dragster rodent hollered back at her as he had pulled away, driving toward Ironclaw at the moment to lend him some back up...
-----
Zodiac was pleased to find that Optimus was still distracted, this time with firing at Megatron. No doubt he was attempting to protect his precious girlfriend, the white mare that the shapeshifter had grown to despise. His dedication to her would be the end of him, the pretender would see to that.

His shoulder cannons, a trait he had copied off Primal's mentor, popped into place and within a split second they had fired at the Maximal's backside. "You never learn," the shapeshifter accused as he fired a second shot at his foe. "Kind of ironic, in a sense, that you turned out to be so much like Nexus."
-----
There was a sudden pressure and sense of heat that Optimus felt impacting his backside which was exposed while using his turrets on Megatron. Zodiac's shot pushed him forward, automatically retracting his "back pack" weapon as he used his hands to brace his fall, landing on his knees and palms in the snow. Instead of growing angry at the shapeshifter's words, a small smirk appeared across his mouth, hidden from Zodiac at the moment. He rolled to the side, avoiding the second shot that he predicted was coming after the first comment he made. We always learn from our mistakes, he thought bitterly to himself and the voice in his head. He immediately got to his feet and stood defiantly, glaring at the pretender while his back ached and his chest continued to slowly seep blood from the slashes Zodiac happily gave him earlier.

His optics glanced at the shoulder cannons Zodiac had just used, recognizing who he stole them from... Nexus. His hands at his sides balled tightly into fists. He's using those on purpose, Primal complained to the whisper.

Of course he is! He wants to intimidate you and make you weak. So what are you going to do about it?
-----
The mischievous trickster could not help but notice the glare Optimus was giving him, a fact that brought about the all-too-familiar smirk. It pleased him so to bring his foe pain and it was obvious from Primal's reaction that he recognized the cannons Zodiac had just used to shoot him with. "Your mentor always did have a fine attention to detail. Remember when he had these upgraded?" He let the question linger for a moment. "Oh that's right, you don't remember much about that time in your life. Almost a little convenient, don't you think?"

His smirk suddenly dropped as he took a step closer, his cannons following Primal's every move. "He put up a good fight, you know, for his age and all."
-----
Zodiac was incredibly cruel with his words. More so than Megatron had ever been. And he absolutely despised that smug smirk of his. Unlike Megatron's firepower which could easily penetrate his armor and damage him, Zodiac's words infiltrated his emotions, which were incredibly raw and vulnerable while he watched his mentor's cannons follow him. He was boiling inside. "What did you do to him?" he inquired with a tone as cold as the blustery air around them.
-----
The pretender merely crossed his arms, briefly testing the strength in his newly re-attached wrist and finding it to be adequate. "Now this conversation is starting to sound familiar.. Of course this time we are on more equal terms. Well.. as far as equal goes between you and me." A hint of a smile showed at the corner of his mouth.

"Nexus is still around.." He fired another blast from his cannons, deliberately aiming it at the ground right next to Optimus. "Well.. parts of him anyway." He chuckled briefly at his own joke.
-----
Shards and debris of rock and snow sprayed into the air right beside Primal's feet since his own voice in his head told him, Don't move! He stood his ground and hardly flinched, maintaining his glare while his mind briefly envisioned Nexus from his memory. "Considering how obsessed you are with taking my life and everyone else's, I can only assume one outcome for someone who meant everything to me. But, for your sake, you better tell me the truth. You better tell me that he's being held captive. Did you kill Nexus Prime?! Tell me!" he snarled, licking the scar across his mouth. He wanted to know but he was not prepared to handle it.
-----
Zodiac tilted his head to the side, staring at Optimus with a look that almost seemed filled with sorrow for a moment. Almost. The moment passed, however, and the pretender spoke up again. "I didn't kill Nexus Prime," he said with the utmost conviction, taking another step closer as he spoke. As soon as his words had come out or perhaps even a moment before, his facial features started changing to that of Optimus. The old Optimus, the way he was back when Nexus knew him.

"As far as Nexus was concerned, this is the face he was looking at near the end." He smiled again, almost looking a bit apologetic for a brief nanoclick. Of course that was all an act since each and every word he told Primal had been carefully selected. It didn't matter if Optimus knew the truth now that he was about to get his skull split open by Nexus' own weapon, absorbed after the fact so that the shapeshifter could keep it as a trophy.

"Nexus died believing you were the one who killed him."

His voice grew colder as he spoke the last sentence, knowing that this fact would no doubt push Optimus off the edge.
-----
Primal watched Zodiac's appearance shift... to the way Optimus was before he left Cybertron. His once defiant stance suddenly came crumbling down. His knees felt weak, he felt nauseous, and his spark sank considerably as it felt squeezed. "No... You're lying..." he muttered, trying to process his words. "YOU'RE LYING!" he hollered at him. Imagining Nexus seeing him... murdering him... On the verge of tears, he fought them back while trying to remain standing up when his legs wanted to buckle. "This is a nightmare. This can't be real," he muttered, his gaze dropping from his old self standing before him, one of his fists covering his mouth as he caught his breath. His spark raced. His breathing increased. He couldn't focus or comprehend.

Strike him now! Use your hatred and rage to rip his head off! You're stronger than you let yourself to be!

That's what the ape imagined himself doing by that point as he finally snapped inside. It took everything to keep him from jumping at the shapeshifter to complete that task by ending his foe's life.

You won't regret it because he deserves it! Just imagine Nexus, helpless and quite possibly critically wounded and restrained, seeing you approaching him thinking you were there to save him... You, whom he saw as a son and his protege, instead striking him down and giving him one least blow as he probably pleaded for his life!

Optimus shook inside, trembling as much as the mountain was. He knew he had the power to kill him. It would be justice, wouldn't it? We can do it. We'll do it. We'll finish it now. I don't care about the consequences. I'm done with him! He killed him! He deserves the same fate! I'm going to do everything he did to him! Or he could stab him with the syringe and watch him pathetically beg for his life on his knees as he unwillingly lost all of his abilities. That might be more satisfying... And then he could just leave him to his own devices, alone and defenseless on the planet. Megatron would surely find him eventually and end all of this. At this point, he had completely forgotten about Whitegrazer and what she would say or do. He lost all of her guidance and forgot the meditations he had learned from her. There was no green meadow. There was no support from her. There was no bond. He felt nothing from her. He felt nothing at all as his world came crashing down. An empty void. Nexus was long gone.

Closer..., the voice whispered. Then let him get closer, inject the vial and watch him fall with great satisfaction. Pretend to be overwhelmingly devastated and let him get closer. Optimus shook his head and fell to a knee, seemingly allowing himself to be completely vulnerable as if he was giving up.
-----
For but a moment, the shapeshifter stopped and merely stood there, watching Optimus as he fell to the ground. "What reason would I have to lie?," he responded rhetorically, seemingly calm on the outside despite the fact his spark was racing with excitement on the inside. "You would have been proud of the old geezer. He stayed strong even as his men were slaughtered and he was the only one left behind, in captivity. At least for a short while." The changeling had been honest about his employers wanting to keep Nexus as a prisoner, but temptation had proven to be too strong for the rebellious shapeshifter.

"You should have seen the look on his face when he saw you enter the cell. It was pure joy at first, only to turn to dispair." He took another step closer. "It was beautiful."

Deciding there was no point in wasting more time, the shapeshifter prepared his weapon to fire again. This time at close range, leaving Optimus with no escape.
-----
"Stop it...," he pleaded softly without looking up at the fraud. Although, there was little grief behind his words. He seemed to be... emotionless. The shapeshifter kept talking, his words filling his head and making his deeper emotions run rampant. High and low, sad and angry, up and down, uncontrollable. "Shut up..." He imagined Nexus's expression upon seeing himself and it crushed Optimus again and again, as if his spark was flickering like a candle in the wind. A single tear fell to the snow, freezing on impact.

And then his demeanor changed to how he was really feeling now, giving up the disguise of mourning. His hands balled into fists again and he eventually stopped listening to Zodiac. His head was full of rage, hatred and the desire for vengeance.

This is it. Show him who you really are. You will not be made a fool of! You will not let Nexus Prime's death be in vain! He's close enough now, it's time to take him down! TAKE HIM DOWN NOW!

Optimus reached for his subspace, his breathing was an angry huff of air with every exhale. His jaws clenched tightly. Hiding it with his hand, he grabbed the syringe and made deep breaths that were full of both anger and agony.
-----
Zodiac shook his head again, his cannons locked on Optimus' form. The other male was yelling at him, begging him to stop, but the shapeshifter had no intention to. Not now.

"Give my regards to Nexus," he told him coldly as he prepared to fire at point blank range.
-----
Those words really tore him up. He felt like he was going to explode and he didn't care. He was seeing red and almost lost control. "You've underestimated us, Zodiac," he threatened him instead in a deep, quiet voice, slowly looking up at him and ignoring his last comment. His nostrils flared with every excessively forced exhale of breath. As quickly as he could, he lunged at Zodiac and swung his arm with the hand holding the syringe in an attempt to stab the needle into the shapeshifter's side again, immediately injecting the substance inside.
-----
The shapeshifter looked a bit puzzled at Primal's choice of last words. Had his madness truly gone so far that he wasn't able to realize what was happening? It was hard to say given the Maximal's eratic behavior as of late, his mind had not been the same ever since he returned from the Darksyde a broken bot in a way.

Yet nothing could prepare the shapeshifter for what was about to happen. In a sudden move, his broken foe leapt up and lunged at him. Zodiac attempted to side step, but this time he was too late. He didn't fully realize what had happened before he felt a sharp sting in his side. He gasped and smacked the syringe away, but the content had already been pumped into him and was making its way through his system.

He took a step back, fully expecting the sedative to start taking effect like it had before. But oddly he wasn't feeling sleepy.. if anything he felt.. The sudden onset of an excruciating burning pain spread through his chest and abdomen as if someone had just lit him on fire on the inside, causing Zodiac to clutch his abdomen before falling to his knees much like Primal had but few moments before. The pain continued to spread throughout his body, with every pulsation of his spark. Intense.. pain.. throbbing and burning him with an intensity he had never experienced before.

"What.. did.. you.. do?!," he demanded between groans.

As bad as the implementation process had been, the pain he felt right now must have been ten times worse.. and all at once. Every limb in his body was aching, and his nanomachines.. they were screaming, he could hear them. Pure chaos had erupted in the otherwise controlled environment. And then, as the pain slowly subsided, so did the screams.. replaced only by silence and a feeling of being hollow. Zodiac shuddered at that feeling, still not sure what to make of what just happened.
-----
Yesssss, YES! Mwahahahahahahaha! Optimus and his voice laughed together. After the successful injection, Primal stepped back, eagerly watching for the effects like an excited mad scientist, an ominous smile crossing his mouth as he licked its scar like he was hungry for Zodiac's suffering.

Noticing Zodiac's perplexed expression and then falling to his knees, he looked down at him as the pretender tried speaking through the pain he must have been enduring. His smile remained. Optimus proclaimed loud enough for others to hear, "This ends now, Zodiac! The revenge, the hunting, the murdering, it ends by MY hand. I helped develop you, and now I'm going to dismantle you! How does it feel to be so helpless and vulnerable?! Now you know what each of your victims have gone through, including Nexus!" As he said his mentor's name, he went to knee Zodiac in his chin out of pure rage to add emphasis with his vengeance. Then, seemingly involuntary, he banged his fists against his chest as he would have in his beast mode, proclaiming his power and victory, his knuckles hitting the lacerations and smearing the blood both on his pecks and on his hands, ignoring the pain by releasing it with a hellish gorilla-like scream into the snowy air.
-----
In Zodiac's current state, Primal's enraged kick to his chin was more than enough to send him crashing onto his backside with a pained groan. His wings partially folding over him in the process, he forced himself to glare at Optimus. With the last of his nanomachines shutting down, Zodiac's face had returned to normal again. On the outside he looked like himself, but on the inside he felt like anything but. It was so quiet inside, even Whitegrazer's infernal chatter had stopped for a moment. Like a big part of him had simply gone missing.

Slowly, very carefully, he tried to sit up. But he felt weak, much weaker than he'd ever been, and somewhat lightheaded to boot. Realizing what just happened, that his nanomachines had all been deactivated, Zodiac glanced over at Whitegrazer, before slowly turning his attention back to his hated foe again.

You lose. The female's warning echoed in his head as the first noise he heard after the fact. Well, aside from Optimus' gloating of course. Zodiac merely stared at him in silence, too weak to even move at the moment.
-----
"You should see the look on your face," Optimus said bitterly as he lowered his arms, mimicking what Zodiac had told him just moments before when he had tricked Nexus into thinking it was Optimus who killed him. "I imagine it's a similar expression that Nexus gave you, you sparkless coward." He kept his glare on him, holding himself back from doing any more damage to the murderer squirming on the ground. "You're right; it's beautiful," he mocked his own words again. "It would seem you took your technology for granted."
-----
Zodiac did not wish to admit it, but Optimus' last taunt made him squirm a bit on the inside. He opened his mouth as if to speak, but no words came out. He had nothing to say? No, that wasn't entirely true.. A part of him wanted nothing more than to chew the other male out for what he had done, to scream and throw a tantrum much like a little child would have. But the seriousness of the situation had started to dawn on him and he found himself feeling.. concerned.

"You.. bastard..," he finally managed to say, but the words came out far less menacingly than he would have liked. He would have added how he would kill the Maximal for this, but as things were that did not seem like a likely outcome.
-----
Optimus let out a low chuckle, as if to rub more salt into his wound. "You did this to yourself. You could have stopped what you were doing, you could have left this planet, but you were too consumed by your own revenge. And for what? Giving you extraordinary technology that you embraced?" He shook his head, watching the once cocky and confident bot now having a very difficult time just finding the words he wanted to say let alone fight back or even stand. Had it really weakened him that much? He certainly hoped so. He hoped he was feeling every bit of hopelessness and helplessness that each of his victim's felt who died at his hands, especially Nexus Prime.

Do you really care at this point?

Primal didn't answer the voice. "How does it feel, Zodiac?" Oh, he was dying to know.
-----
It felt downright awful, Zodiac thought but without verbalizing it. It was bad enough he felt as if he'd gone to the pit and back, and now had a massive headache, some residual pain, and he felt like he was about to throw up at any moment. His own systems started coming back online now, allowing Zodiac the strength to stand.. if a bit unsteadily. He slowly got up, raising his hands a bit as he did as not to provoke the Maximals to shoot him now that he wasn't able to heal instantly anymore.

"I've never been better..," he lied but his body language made it more than clear that he wasn't being honest. He was honestly halfway expecting one of them to kill him on the spot. It’s what he would have done. It’s what anyone with their sanity intact would do.
-----
"You must be a pathological liar," the Maximal sneered at him. That was fine if he wanted to lie, Primal knew he was suffering. Something dark deep down inside of Optimus wanted to take advantage of this surreal situation, to do exactly what Zodiac was likely fearing now; destroying him once and for all and extinguishing his spark now that it appeared that he may have lost his ability to heal himself. How tragic, he thought sarcastically. Optimus glanced in Whitegrazer's direction to see how she was coping now, assuming that the shapeshifter had lost control of the nanobots inside of her as well. "You should have stopped," Primal told Zodiac again, observing his stance as he finally got to his feet. The Maximal stood there making no attempt of arresting him or harming him while the battle continued around them, as if giving him the opportunity to leave while he still had a chance to do so. Or simply waiting for someone else to step in and shoot him to death.
-----
Zodiac stood perfectly still for a moment, waiting for Optimus to make his move. Truthfully he was fully expecting a bullet to the head but it never came. Lowering his arms, the former shape-shifter gave his foe a quizzical look, still not sure what to make of this.

He's letting you go, fool, so go on! Get out of here before he changes his mind!, the renegade thought to himself.

He glanced over at Optimus, attempting to read his face to decipher if that is truly what the Maximal was allowing him to do. But he couldn't read him, not this time. The pretender sighed. Revenge could wait until he'd figured out how to reverse whatever they did to him. He was still feeling weak, too much so to put up a fight at present. Lowering his gaze to the snowy ground, he started to walk away. If Optimus was to shoot him now, at least he wouldn't see it coming.
-----
Primal stood there coldly and maddeningly, watching Zodiac glance at him again. He desperately tried holding himself together now knowing that Nexus had been murdered by him disguised as Optimus. He wanted to fall apart and sob but he couldn't; not in front of everyone and not during a battle.

I can't believe you're letting him go. You don't even know if that vial is permanent or temporary. What if his abilities return? You're wasting a perfectly good opportunity to finish him! Put away your pathetic sense of pity and mercy and be rid of him once and for all!

"Yes..." he agreed at first, out loud as he appeared to be talking to himself, but he was also in a daze while he tried comprehending everything. Still, he was about to use his personal turrets as his pack started to lift off his back. "No!" he suddenly corrected himself and put the weapons back. "This is what separates us from him, Megatron and Ironclaw! I have never taken a life and I am NOT going to start with HIM!" Anyone who heard him probably thought he had finally lost it. Maybe he did.

So we'll just let him go? Where is he going to go now?

"That's his problem," he kept speaking aloud to the voice in his head.

What if the Predacons take him? You know what will happen then.

I don't care. He killed Nexus... I'll never speak to him again because of Zodiac... Nexus taught me everything. He prepared me for my own crew and vessel. And he's gone! Gone because of some selfish revenge! He finally kept the rest of his argument to himself.

He also lied to you and kept everything covered up only to let your past catch up with us and put our Maximals' lives in danger. Some Admiral...

SHUT UP! He was protecting me! He was everything to me! Optimus fought very hard to keep his sadness suppressed and hold back the tears. He easily ignored his physical pain from his wounds. There was a point he searched for Whitegrazer to find her support but he let it go. All he could see was his imagination playing over and over Zodiac pretending to be him while murdering Nexus... Red... He saw a lot of red... He wanted to rip his worthless spark out and make sure he would never hunt him again.
-----
Zodiac did not look back. Not even when he could hear what sounded like Primal's weapon shifting into place. He knew the sound well, having disguised himself as Primal several times in the past and even served alongside him while working for Nexus. But for a moment he slowed his movements a bit, waiting for the blast to come. It didn't. Not yet.

He didn't need special powers like those of Whitegrazer to know what was going on inside Primal's mind right now. Well, perhaps not about the voices, but he was certain Primal was contemplating firing at him. Struggling with himself, being the Maximal he was, despite Zodiac's best efforts to turn him into a killer. A quick system check-up revealed what he had suspected, that his own weapons were offline. Knocked out by whatever Optimus had given him to deactivate his nanomachines. Sadly he relied on those machines more than he had even imagined as they were responsible for running his weapons along with other systems. Without them he couldn't activate his firearms and as things were he was too weak to even transform and fly away. Was he even capable of transforming without the nanomachines? It had been so long, he wasn't sure anymore.

He had managed to put a short distance between himself and Optimus when a few shots at his feet, coming from an angle in front of the direction he was going, stopped him in his tracks. The heat from those shots stung his feet as they graced him but none were a direct hit. Zodiac stopped his movements, his optics darting to the ledge where Nemesis sat and smiled at him. And it certainly was not a friendly smile. A moment later she dropped down in front of him, landing with a thud in the shallow snow.
-----
Out of the corner of Rattrap's green eye, he spotted Optimus and Zodiac facing off. But instead of his fearless leader being on the ground it was Zodiac. Of course, Primal was injured, but there was something wrong with Zodiac. Had he managed to inject him?! Slamming on his brakes, Rattrap spun around and drifted a little as he turned his direction from Ironclaw to Optimus, Zodiac and Whitegrazer. A few shots from Nemesis who fired at Zodiac also caught his attention. This time the rodent in his dragster mode hit his brakes so hard that he flipped into the air and transformed into his robot mode, landing on his feet and drawing his weapon as he sprinted toward the ape.

Primal had grabbed one of his clubs in reaction to the gunfire that hit the ground near Zodiac, which suddenly snapped him out of the darkness that was beginning to consume him. His optics followed their origin upward to find Nemesis. What did she want?

"What happened?!" Rattrap asked, realizing that the shapeshifter was actually walking away from Optimus. "Did it work?!"

"Yes," was all the taller Maximal said, glancing from Rattrap and back to Nemesis.

The Spy appeared bewildered, but also unaware of Primal's current psychological state, which was crumbling. "How do you know it worked and he ain't just fakin' it?"

Optimus didn't answer him. Instead, he asked Nemesis with an unemotional voice, "What do you want?"
-----
Zodiac let out a deep sigh as he eyed Nemesis standing right in front of him. There had been a time they were close, close enough to rely only on each other in a world that was otherwise set against them, but that time had long since passed. He knew very well why she was here, now, and it was not an encounter he would enjoy.

Nemesis, on the other hand, merely pointed her weapon straight at him, making sure he wouldn't move while she addressed the Maximals. "Isn't it obvious, Optimus?," she called over to the injured ape, "I've come to claim this traitor on behalf of the Predacons," giving a quick nod to Zodiac as she spoke.

The former shapeshifter glanced back at Optimus and then briefly at Whitegrazer before settling back on the ape. Gone was the rebel and schemer. If anything he looked more like he was lost, confusion and sorrow evident on his face. He knew exactly what would happen if the Predacons took possession of him.
-----
"Yes! Let 'er take him!" Rattrap joyfully agreed, standing along side of Optimus. "We did our part. He probably ain't a threat to us anymore. If they want 'im, they can have him."

Primal's gaze, although hurt and full of rage and sorrow, shifted from Nemesis to Zodiac. He looked so... pathetic. Was he actually remorseful? He doubted it. However, this was a foreign expression on the very vulnerable shapeshifter. In fact, he hadn't seen this silent plea for help from him since... Primus, since back on Cybertron when they were experimenting on him. But why should he feel sorry for him now after everything? After learning that he killed an Admiral who was his friend, teacher and father figure. Why did he suddenly feel like defending him? "No," Optimus told Rattrap.

"Uh, did I hear you right? No? No what?" Rattrap demanded an explanation.

"We can't let the Predacons take him. You know what they'll do."

"So what?! It ain't our problem! Dat maniac brought dis all on ta himself! He deserves what's comin' to 'im."

"Does he?" Primal questioned without looking at his shorter friend, his optics remaining on the pretender and Nemesis.

Rattrap grew incredibly confused and his face showed it. "Of course he does! He killed a lot of people!"
-----
Nemesis folded her arms across her chest, looking like she was getting a bit impatient by the Maximals squabbling over what should be such an easy decision. Ever since he set foot on this planet, Zodiac had done nothing but hurt them. He'd gone so far, in fact, that he'd nearly killed the lot of them and had lumped Nemesis in with the others to do it.

"You know he deserves this and more," she called back to Optimus, realizing that the Maximal programming was getting the better of him. "Megatron will be more than happy to do your dirt work for you. Besides after we get him, we'll leave this place and you won't have to worry about any more casualties."

Zodiac, on the other hand, remained silent. Nemesis and Rattrap made persuasive arguments and had the situation been reversed he wouldn't have hesitated to make the call. Of course since he was now on the receiving end and would no doubt be tortured to death by Megatron and his stooges, it was not an outcome he was willing to accept.
-----
"Uh, need I remind you, Optimus, dat he almost made you kill all of us. He almost killed Whitegrazer a couple times! And Aurora! And you wanna let him live?!"

Primal's thumb nervously rubbed on the handle of his club, standing there and stewing about this interesting turn of events while Whitegrazer's and Aurora's injuries flooded his mind. So many mixed emotions... What was the right thing to do? His moral compass was skewed now. Part of him wanted to kill him himself, but another part of him knew it was wrong. What would Whitegrazer do? Let him live. What would he do despite everything that this selfish, callous criminal put them through? Let him live... It was his integrity and Maximal code.

Optimus looked at Nemesis, processing her words. Both of them wanted Zodiac punished and dead. Even if he allowed Megatron to kill him, it would still be on his conscience and his hands. If he could prevent lives being taken, then he should, no matter who they were. Even if it was Megatron. Would Zodiac have spared his life? No. Just moments ago he was prepared to kill him just like he did with Nexus. But, again, this was what defined Optimus; his mercy and selflessness. "The way I see it, he has already been punished for what he has done. If he's no longer a threat to us, Rattrap, as you stated, then there's no point in taking such a drastic measure of ending his life. What we have done to him... We have taken away his livelihood. Everything he knew and used to his advantage is gone now. He's practically helpless. This war has claimed enough lives... I don't wish to see anymore lost."

Rattrap didn't know what else to say to convince the ape. Was he being too soft? Was he letting him off too easy? "Look, if the Preds wanna take him, who're we ta stop 'em? He ain't our responsibility. You just aren't thinking clearly, Optimus."

Primal suddenly turned to Rattrap and placed the end of his club on his chest, offended by his words despite them being quite accurate, while spewing out angrily, "I have more right than anyone else here to decide his fate! He has been hunting ME! -I- helped make him who he is! Of course he's MY responsibility! All of your lives were in danger because of me!" He kept shoving his club into the Spy's chest, a little harder each time to emphasize what he was saying.

Rattrap grew quiet, his gaze looking down at the club pressed against his chest and following it up to Primal's orange optics full of mixed emotions and uncertainty. He was quite worried about him now... He wasn't right. Something happened to him inside.
-----
Zodiac's posture changed ever so slightly as he realized that Primal was prepared to just let him go, despite everything that had gone down between them. Had he not hated the monkey so much for what he had done, in the past as well as more recently, he might even have been touched by this gesture. But as it was, it meant that Primal had only delayed the inevitable. The Predacons would no doubt hunt him, as would his employers and even the aliens. The hunter becoming the hunted, how ironic. Perhaps that was ultimately Primal's goal. Turn this disaster into a sport.

Nemesis merely shook her head at this display of Maximal foolishness. "Very well. If you won't hand him over, we'll just have to help ourselves." As to show her sincerity, she followed up her statement with a brutal kick to Zodiac's abdomen, causing him to keel over from the pain. He was already aching all over and felt about as weak as he had been when the guards were dragging him back to his cell after yet another session with the scientists. Could this day possibly get any worse, he wondered, his hands holding his throbbing abdomen.
-----
"Do you think he really cares if you show him kindness and mercy now?" Rattrap asked Optimus.

"It doesn't matter if he cares, -I- care! You should, too! It's about forgiveness," he pointed out. "And if it comes back to haunt us, then it can't possibly be any worse than what we have already been put through." Primal quickly averted his attention back to Nemesis when he noticed her movement and witnessed her brutally kick him. His own abdomen still felt sore from the shapeshifter's kick earlier, along with the painful lacerations across his chest, and the wound on his back. All from Zodiac. And yet here he stood trying to defend his foe's life. Maybe he really was going crazy.

"No, I won't allow it," Primal told Nemesis, taking a step toward her and raising his club a little bit. "Let him be. He will suffer enough from now on."

"In dat case, wouldn't it be the humane thing ta do ta put 'im outta his misery now? Why let 'im suffer for the rest of his life?" Rattrap pointed out.

"Because he will adapt! And maybe, JUST maybe, he will find remorse, forgiveness and peace. I expected better of you, Rattrap," he briefly glared at him.

The rat opened his mouth to speak but there was only silence. Now he's soundin' like Whitegrazer, he thought. And he seemed to hang his head in shame for a moment. He understood what Optimus was trying to do here, but was it really worth it? Was this guy's life worth it? For some reason, after EVERYthing, Primal seemed to think so.
-----
Zodiac had braced himself for Nemesis' physical outburst, knowing her well enough to see something like that coming. What he was a bit surprised by, however, was this newfound devotion she had towards Megatron and the Predacons. They were both of Decepticon heritage after all even if their bodies had been upgraded since then. The loyalty she obviously possessed towards the Predacons was confusing to him.

Holding his gut at the point she had kicked him, the kick certainly not helping the nausea he'd been having since he got injected, he slowly stood up and glared at the female. "Changing one prison for another, Nemmy?," he asked her, some of his attitude returning. She returned the glare just as quick. "I'd hardly consider a commanding position a prison..," she argued, "Now let's go. Megatron is waiting."

Zodiac chuckled lightly at that, albeit it was a humorless laugh. So she'd actually fallen for Megatron's false promises.. Well.. he shouldn't be too surprised. "And I thought Primal was losing it..," he then admitted, shoving her aside with his shoulder as he kept on walking. He was not ending up like his comrade.
-----
Commanding position? Optimus thought. She was given a promotion when they helped her clear her name and allow her to return to the Predacons?

It's only beneficial to Megatron. I'm sure it means nothing, his voice told him. Still, it was an interesting piece of information.

"Alright. Here's what I'm gonna propose, Optimus, since you won't give this up. I'll compromise a little bit. We can arrest him and take 'im back with us. He ain't gonna escape since he lost all his magical powers."

Optimus calmed down a little and blinked before looking down at Rattrap.

"So he's ours, Nemesis. Step away and leave him ta us," the rat said as he walked toward her and Zodiac, his gun targeting her shoulder.

Optimus quickly moved with him to enforce their position as they approached her. He picked up on Zodiac's attitude lifting a bit in his voice, watching him shove past Nemesis. He took little to no offense to his words declaring Primal's insanity; he knew something was wrong with him. He knew he was mentally unstable.

"No, no, Zodiac. Stop right there!" the rodent hollered at him when the pretender started to walk away.
-----
Nemesis hissed at Zodiac's words, her hand immediately grabbing for her sword. If her former friend wouldn't come willingly, she'd gladly drag his bleeding and mangled form back. As far as she was concerned, Zodiac deserved everything that was coming to him for what he had put her through. And she was certain Megatron felt the same way, especially if his handling of Night Terror was any indication.

And she probably would have impaled him with her sword right there, had the rodent not come to his defense. Her optics narrowed at the rat, her patience with the Maximals' interference growing thin. "Are you sure you Maximals aren't suffering some ill effects from the virus?," she responded, angrily pointing the blade of her sword in Rattrap's direction as she did. "Because you are making no sense! He is a traitor to us all. Let us deal with him as we see fit."

Zodiac couldn't help but find the entire situation a bit obscene. Only a short few days ago he was about to complete his work and all the Maximals would be dead at Optimus' hand. The Predacons were about to succumb to the virus he had staged for Night Terror to release. And all of a sudden, now, the roles were reversed. He was the one at everyone else's mercy. Or lack thereof as was the case with the Predacons. And without his powers, with no weapons, and thus far without regaining his ability to fly or transform, he truly was at a loss. He really didn't know where he would go, just away from here, from this place and all its bad memories.

Although he heard Rattrap's words, he only briefly slowed down to look at the rodent. Had the Maximals changed their minds now too? He really didn't wish to linger to find out.
-----
"No, Nemesis!" Primal snapped at her. "What you wish to do with him is no different than what he wanted to do with all of us. He has a lot to answer for, and I still have a lot of questions for him. We will take him with us." He lifted his club higher in protest to her reaching for her sword.

"I said stop! Yer under arrest!" Rattrap yelled at Zodiac, jogging up behind him and holding the barrel of his gun to his back to try and persuade him.
-----
Finally Zodiac stopped, only to glance down at the rodent who was barely more than half his own size. Well.. wasn't this just the perfect ending to an otherwise horrific experience. If he'd been able to get any more embarrassed than he already was, he'd probably melt into the ground. "This isn't happening..," he muttered in disbelief, mostly to himself. It was like some nightmare he simply couldn't wake up from. Just watch.. In a nanoclick he'd probably wake up, back on the ship, with Dirge standing idly by and Night Terror talking too much like he always did.

But the barrel of a gun to his backside proved all too well that it wasn't just a dream and he really was in this situation. He raised his arms a bit again in quiet surrender, simply too exhausted and vulnerable to put up a fight right now. Still he was halfway pondering to merely punch the annoying creature out and be done with it.

Nemesis growled in frustration at these stupid Maximals. "You don't have the courage to do what needs to be done," she accused Primal, "Can you imagine what would happen to him if any of the others he’s betrayed gets a hold of him? We'd be doing him a favor in the end."

The rough weather patterns of this mountain were really starting to show themselves by now, gusts of icy wind were ruffling her transmetal feathers and whipping the snow around. There was no sight of Megatron or anyone else other than those immediately surrounding her.
-----
"Do us a favor and just cooperate with us," Rattrap told Zodiac. Looking up at his size while standing behind him, he sighed and put his gun away only to replace it with some harmless energy bonds to cuff his wrists. Roughly, he kicked the back of one of his knees to forcibly make him kneel so that the smaller Maximal could reach his wrists. Some of his kick was a release of anger toward all the trouble this jerk had caused them and also disappointment toward Primal's decision to leave him alone thus putting him in this position. "It's either us or Megatron, who we both know is gonna torture you worse dan he did Optimus and then kill you. You should appreciate Optimus valuing yer life," he said as he took his arms and cuffed his wrists together with the bonds. "Although I can't follow his point of view on this. I think he's crazy. But you better rethink your existence on dis planet now. You got no one else and no where ta go."

"You and Megatron really should stop underestimating me," he said darkly in a threatening manner toward Nemesis's words. "That's not our decision to make," Optimus growled at Nemesis. "And 'doing what it takes' is the coward's way out, only to benefit your own ambitions. You and Megatron can mock me all you want, but you only force me to be stronger and to better myself. What do you have to show for your lack of mercy by taking someone else's life in your hands? Power? Callousness? Real impressive," he ended with sarcasm.
-----
Nemesis lowered her arm with the sword while Optimus was still talking. Despite everything he'd been through, the Maximal leader carried the burden of leadership well. They may not be fighting on the same side in this war, but the avian female still respected him a great deal. Perhaps even more so for the mercy he had shown her more than once. "I hope you know what you're doing," she told Optimus in a low voice for nobody else, especially Zodiac, to hear.

Oddly enough Zodiac did not resist as Rattrap kicked the back of his knee to get him to kneel on the ground. The kick was a little rougher than what was necessary to make his knee buckle, resulting in a slight flinch as the former shapeshifter dropped to his knees in the snow. Zodiac avoided looking straight at Rattrap and merely stared blankly ahead. It was far from the first time he’d been in a position like this but it wasn’t something he had endured ever since he became a specialist. But back in the days, while they were still trying to merge the alien technology with his own, every little sign of disloyalty was met with similar strict measures. And worse.

“How the mighty have fallen..,” he remarked, mostly to himself, but still loud enough for Rattrap to hear. The irony of this situation was not lost on him.

But he didn’t struggle.

He knew what the alternative was and it was not something he ever wanted to experience for himself. Megatron’s methods were brutal and cruel, he knew, for he’d seen them used on Optimus and even experienced a bit of it on himself when he was posing as Nexus. And he had used similar methods and perhaps even worse ones himself as well, and it was enough to know he never wanted to be on the receiving end of them. Not again.

But as he allowed the rat to grab his wrist, part of him almost wished they would simply have put a laser beam through his spark. This was certainly not how he expected to go out. On his knees, being tied up by the most pathetic of Maximals. "Of that I have no doubt," the renegade replied to Rattrap’s comment about how he should feel grateful the Maximals were willing to spare him from Megatron’s wrath. Was he grateful, no, not really. Prison was still prison regardless of who the guards were. Still it seemed like the better of two terrible choices, so the renegade remained still and merely kept his gaze on the snowy ground in front of him.

He was surprisingly calm, all things considering. But then again he had spent most of his life as a prisoner of some sort so the sensation was certainly nothing new to him. While allowing Rattrap to finish up, he turned his head to face the mountain. An eerie feeling was growing within him, telling him they needed to move. "We should go," he said to nobody in particular.
-----
"I'm still learning every day," Optimus admitted to Nemesis speaking just as quietly, though he had come a long way since this all began as inexperience as he was. There was some slight uncertainty in his voice, but also a great deal of appreciation for her not making this harder on all of them. As she lowered her sword, he lowered his club, the slashes on his chest stinging him every time he stretched and moved his arms. Perhaps there was a mutual respect for each other. Nemesis had been put through many experiments as well. He couldn't blame her for her hatred, distrust and discontent for Maximals, but she had proven herself before to put those aside and work with them, even if it was just for her own benefit, because not all Maximals were like the ones who tortured her. And as she also proved, along with a few other Predacons who weren't bent on world domination and sucking up to Megatron, was that not all Preds were the same either, even those who were former Decepticons. There may yet have been hope for the possibility of these two allegiances coexisting in peace instead of one oppressing the other.

"We finally agree on somethin'!" Rattrap exclaimed to Zodiac. Then he yanked upward on the menace's arm as a gesture while saying, "Get up."

"Optimus, we better clear out. Umbra and yer new bestie there," he said pointing at Nemesis, "decided it was a grand idea ta blow up the mountain with a ton of explosives." It was still rumbling and trembling inside of it as the charges nearly finished their domino effect, he assumed.

Primal looked worriedly from Nemesis to the mountain behind her. There was a lot of smoke and heat escaping the top. So he agreed and nodded to the Spy.
-----
Albeit he waited until Rattrap gestured for him to get up before making any attempts at moving, the rodent did not have to tell him twice to get up. The mountain was rumbling, the ground underneath their feet shaking with a few tremors. The renegade twitched uncomfortably, testing the strength of the energy bonds that were keeping his arms secured behind his back. There was no give to the bonds so he quickly stopped trying to wiggle them off.

Nemesis cast a glance over at the two, the gleam in her optics showing that she found the situation somewhat amusing. "Do I want to know why you keep a pair of those on you?," she asked Rattrap, unable to hold back the teasing tone in her voice. She was a Predacon and as such had different ideologies than the Maximals, but she had spent enough time with these Maximals to know them a bit. Then the tremors emerging from the mountain caught her attention as well.

"I don't think that's caused by our explosives," she disagreed, almost taking offense to the rat accusing her of such carelessness. "Those sounds are coming from further underground."

"The machine itself..," Zodiac concurred before repeating his earlier warning, "The aliens must have built in a fail-safe. Very soon there won't be anything left of this place to fight over. We need to move." Or at least he needed to move. If the explosion happened to take out the others, he would certainly not shed a tear. But as things were, he was more than likely to get attacked by the Predacons if he tried to get away on his own.
-----
Rattrap gave Nemesis a playful wink to answer her question about the cuffs he conveniently had on his person, hoping to creep her out, assuming that was possible. He looked down at his feet when the ground shook, then to the others before settling his attention back upon Zodiac. "Well, you'd know all about dat, wouldn't you?" he accused him of being in cahoots with the Vok. Pulling his gun back out, he nudged the taller bot with the barrel of it, signaling him to get moving.

Rattrap brought up a valid point about Zodiac's possible connection with the aliens. It was definitely something Optimus wanted to question him about, and he was determined to have that chat. Unfortunately, it would have to wait as he, too, looked about their surroundings while everything vibrated and trembled. He decided to heed Zodiac's warning and started to walk with his faint limp away from Nemesis to regroup with the other Maximals.
-----
Nemesis followed the retreating Maximals and their prisoner with her eyes as they started making their way towards the remaining members of their team. The snow was really starting to pick up, making visibility poor, but fortunately she had seen exactly where they were headed to. She waited until they were almost out of sight before hailing Megatron.

"We have an issue with the weapon," she told the tyrant via their private com link. "It seems this place is rigged to blow shortly. However, I thought you'd be interested to know that the traitor is vulnerable right now. The Maximals are taking him down the mountain. We should be able to cut them off at the mountain pass if we stage an ambush there. " She followed up her message by transmitting the exact coordinates Zodiac had left for, giving Megatron a chance to finish what he had started earlier.

Meanwhile Zodiac had barely managed to avoid rolling his optic when Rattrap pulled out his weapon and aimed it at him again. Was the rodent truly expecting him to make a run for it, straight into the sight of Megatron's fusion cannon? Although the shorter male did make a valid point about the aliens. Thus far the renegade had managed to avoid talking about that aspect of his life. Then again the last hour by this planet's timeline had held a lot of unpleasant new experiences for him, and he was sure there were more to come in the near future. Even though the rodent had been correct about the Predacon methods being much worse indeed.

He sighed and came along peacefully, at least for the time being. If he was going to have a chance to escape, he’d have to wait until both the Maximals and Predacons were distracted to do so.
-----
"Everybody, listen up!" Rattrap called through his comm. link to other Maximals including Blackarachnia while he guided Zodiac with his weapon trained on him from behind. "We're leavin'! Dis place is gonna blow!"
"Well, that's just prime!"

If anything doesn't check out, lemme know and I'll fix it tomorrow, for now, Uncle DarkSpark is signing off "falls asleep at his chair" XD

Una wrote: When she noticed Nemesis taking aim, against her own better judgement, or whatever ever she felt, her instincts to flee kicked in, but for some odd reason, her pincher took a hold of Rattrap's arm, "We, survivalists, need to split!" Quickly, she fired her grappling gun and took her and Rattrap up before the explosion, hopefully, buried them.

Once Rattrap and she made it to the top, she witnessed Terrorsaur's own missiles exploding in thin air. Whoa. she noticed Landslide has his hands full. So did Optimus, Zodiac, and Whitegrazer as Megatron appeared. Wondering is she could get in a cheap shot while he didn't know she was here. But all her instincts told her to run again. She was tempted to, but where? Where? She rolled her optics at herself.

She was such a fool. She aimed her weapon at Terrorsaur and fired, trying to help Landslide out.

"What the slag is going....ACK!" Terrorsaur gasped as he barely turned his head in time to shoot down an incoming missile with his optic beams, quickly taking notice of Blackarachnia on the ground shortly thereafter.

"So its true!...You DID go Maximal! Even I'd never stoop that low TRAITOR!" Terrorsaur accused with a pointing finger, his voice full of utter contempt for the widow as he fired lasers in her direction in retaliation.
Naitokage wrote: Landslide raised his shield blocking the flames then from Inferno, the lasers striking into his backside for a moment, until Blackarachnia's missile flew towards Terrorsaur. This gave him an opening. Shifting his shield out of the way, Landslide's right arm opened as he pointed it towards Inferno, firing a continuous lightning blast into Inferno's chest.
"Ignore her drone, we have bigger prey to contend wiiiiiiiiittttttthhhhhhAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Inferno screamed as he was zapped by Landslide's lightning, the electricity dancing across his armored frame as he fell from the sky like a stone, steaming and smoking from the heat of the attack.

OOP wrote: "What now?" he asked with irritation, pretending to brush off her Predacon cooties from his TransMetal body as they climbed over the ledge and stood alone at the top, Nemesis and Umbra long gone. Finishing that, and missing what Blackarachnia had witnessed with the missiles exploding on their own, he finally got serious and looked down through some passing clouds to the action that was unfolding a little farther below them while the mountain shook beneath their feet. "So Megajerk finally decided ta show his ugly mug. Looks like we're missin' out, and I ain't hangin' around here when dis whole volcano collapses or erupts." It's gonna be death either way, he negatively thought. He glanced behind him to find that the alien beam signal had since vanished. The message it was sending was already long gone in space. Terrific. Stupid Zodiac. Then he watched Blackarachnia actually fire at Terrorsaur. Was it all for show? Or was she really fighting against her own allegiance now and siding with the Maximals? Actually, she was most likely just using the Maximals just like Nemesis had. "We gotta get ta lower ground," Rattrap told her. He transformed to his vehicle mode and skidded down the mountain sideways at first, then fishtailed along the loose rocks, gravel and snow that shook loose and fell from the vibrations of the lousy Predacons' demolition charges. Weaving and straightening out his steering with his metal wheels, he headed for Ironclaw and... Wait. Who the heck was that?! A new Predacon?! You gotta be kiddin' me! He hadn't received Rhinox's communication since the mountain was blocking his reception, so he remained focused, revving his pipes until flames shot out of them and drove toward the menacing alligator driller bot and most likely his suicide.

As Megatron fired upon his enemies, he took note of the Vok transmission beam finally being cut off, as well as Umbra and Nemesis returning to the field, along with the traitor Blackarachnia and the vermin Rattrap, who tragically had not been buried alive with the destroyed alien machine...Pity, but at least the planet was no longer in danger of being decimated with him, his crew, and their heroic decepticon ancestors still on it. As for the Vok themselves, only time would tell if they would come, the transmission had been cut short, but Megatron knew better than to be overly optimistic about such matters. Usurpers would always plot to usurp, Maximals would always meddle, and planet destroying alien fiends were always certain to go check up on their little side projects when their traps were sprung.

Better to be paranoid than careless, as his teacher Cryotek had always taught him, and he had been a good teacher, so good he had ultimately beat him at his own game and taken the key to Predacon liberation and ultimate power for himself. Good times.

"Commander, Umbra, well done! Feel free to join the festivities, something tells me Terrorsaur and Inferno could use your assistance, yyyyesssss" Megatron said to his second in command and paid assassin over the predacon private comms.

Phoenix wrote: Somewhere above he could hear the sound of missiles exploding in mid flight and for but a moment time stood still.

A sudden sharp pain hitting his wrist caused him to drop the sword to the ground. The shapeshifter hollered from the intense burning pain, clutching what remained of his wrist only to find that his hand was barely even attached to it. Unable to hold up the sword anymore, the smoldering weapon fell into the snow and melted through several layers before coming to a stop on the mountain itself. Zodiac glared up at his attacker, Megatron, who was no longer sheltered by the elements. His nanomachines were quick to repair the damage to his wrist, fortunately, but as he tried to bend over to pick up his weapon he found that he couldn't move. He was as if frozen, his attention again going to the white female. Flashes of memories clouded his mind. He was back in the lab, chained down while the scientists worked on him.. Then the view of the little fuzor through the scope of his sniper rifle.. Her body on the ground, seemingly lifeless. He felt Whitegrazer's grief at that moment, it hit him like speeding into a concrete wall. And then he saw her on the table, so long ago, the scientists working on her as well.

Zodiac's expression changed to something resembling horror. Gone was the smirk, the grins, the wicked gleam in his optics. All he could feel right now was... her.

Megatron smiled and waved smugly in Zodiac's direction as the shapeshifter howled in pain over the loss of his hand, the scoundrel seeming to freeze in place for a moment as his face contorted into something akin to...Terror?

"Hhhhmmm, wish I knew for sure whether it was myself who's having this effect on you dear Zodiac, but either way, you're still going to die, so it hardly matters" Megatron mused as he prepared to execute him, activating his shoulder guns so he could continue his assault against him while he finished off Primal's witch.
Una wrote: She looked up to see Umbra and Nemesis. Umbra looked displeased. Her attention went back towards Megatron and put her hand up towards him, warning him, "Get back, Megatron. Nothing would be gained here. The device is off. Destroyed. Your base is safe. There is nothing here for you."

Megatron merely smiled at Whitegrazer as though she were simple, which she could very well be, telekinesis did not necessarily equal actual intellect, as he stated "Should have thought of that before you went "White Witch" on my person, Miss Grazer. And believe me, there is ALWAYS something to be gained in ANY situation, so there is certainly still something here for me...The traitor's life, your lover's, and most importantly of all, YOURS."

And with that, he fired a fully charged beam blast straight at her!

OOP wrote: Primal seemed just as puzzled as everyone else until something begged him to look toward Whitegrazer. He slowly turned his head to gaze upon the mare in question, finding her hand lowering after it had been reaching out toward the missiles that were about to hit Landslide but exploded in mid air. How...? he thought, bewildered.

"Well now Primal, you sure do know how to pick them now don't you?"

Optimus growled at the tyrant, baring his sharp teeth in robot mode and licked the scar over his lips.

He's going to go after her now.

I know!

Are you going to let that happen?

NO! I've had enough! ENOUGH! Primal lifted the "pack" off of his back and pulled it over his shoulders to place it in front of his bleeding and torn chest, activating his gunning system and firing at Megatron with several shots as the powerful kickback made his feet slightly slide backwards in the slick snow. He did this at the same time as the TransMetal t-rex opened fire on Whitegrazer, leaving himself vulnerable to an attack from Zodiac. Although, maybe he wanted the shapeshifter to get close to him again. He had to be in order to administer the "virus" with precision and make sure the needle penetrated his armor.

"RRAAAAGGHH!" Megatron growled in a mix of pain and rage as Primal's shots riddled across his chest, the ape's firepower sending him sprawling backwards, but he still managed to fire off a few more shots as he did, the tyrant swearing between clenched teeth that he would decorate his throne with Primal's and Whitegrazer's heads!

He activated his jets to keep himself from falling flat on his back and leaving himself open for even more punishment, rubbing the damage done to his chest by Primal's attacks with his free hand as he flew backwards, examining himself for damage as he did, firing another volley of shots to keep Primal from pressing his advantage as he sought cover behind the nearest rock formation, hissing in anguish less from the pain and more out of frustration...If there truly Primus was out there somewhere, he will have let his shots hit something critical on those maximal wretches. So while he tended to his wounds, he listened for what he hoped would be the distraught cries of Optimus Primal over the slagged remains of the femme he loved.

OOP & Phoenix wrote: Zodiac tilted his head to the side, staring at Optimus with a look that almost seemed filled with sorrow for a moment.

Megatron listened as he recharged his weapons, treated his wounds, and plotted his next move, the tyrant forcing himself to his feet as he risked a look to bear witness to what he was hearing, like a Cybertronian soap opera playing out right before his optics, Megatron could not help but RELISH the agony on Primal's face, the despair and disillusion in his voice as Zodiac told him that not only had his beloved mentor, the maximal butcher Nexus Prime, was dead, but that he had gone to the Pit believing his own favorite pupil had done him in. Megatron may have wanted Zodiac dead, but even he had to appreciate that level of delicious irony, though he also knew from experience that he had better finish Primal off now and stop toying with him or else this spark crushing despair could easily turn to determination to see the shapeshifter defeated no matter the cost. Not everyone could manage mocking Primal while also airing on the side of caution at the same time as he did, but then again, that is why he was destined to rule and not Zodiac or Cryotek or any of those fools on the Tripredacus Council. He alone would lead his people to freedom and punish the maximals for centuries of humiliating oppression, for he was Megatron, and no one else could make that boast.
OOP & Phoenix wrote: "You should see the look on your face," Optimus said bitterly as he lowered his arms, mimicking what Zodiac had told him just moments before when he had tricked Nexus into thinking it was Optimus who killed him.

Megatron laughed heartily at this latest turn of events, while he enjoyed Primal's suffering, he could not help but enjoy Zodiac's even more after all the trouble the newcomer had caused him. He knew Primal was a "razor snake" and yet the fool STILL let him bite him! Priceless! Now the once proud and invincible Zodiac had been brought down to his knees, stripped of his much boasted regeneration and shapeshifting abilities, reducing him to merely another bot, mortal and vulnerable as the rest of them, and completely at the mercy of Optimus Primal, the maximal he'd traveled all this way to kill...And judging by how unhinged Primal sounded right now, he may have finally run all out of mercy. Delightful, yyyyyeesssss.
OOP & Phoenix wrote: "Yes..." he agreed at first, out loud as he appeared to be talking to himself, but he was also in a daze while he tried comprehending everything.

"Oh for spark's sake Primal, even when you've lost your mind you still cower away from what must be done" Megatron groaned to himself in annoyance as he spied on what was transpiring, he knew Primal was a self-important sap but surely even he wasn't so deluded as to think an anomaly like Zodiac could be allowed to live after all the trouble he had caused? The near apocalypse he had triggered? The impending Vok invasion he no doubt had brought down upon them?

Mercy was something only to be practiced when it was pragmatic to do so, never should it be handed out so freely and foolishly as this maximal did time and time again.

OOP & Phoenix wrote: Nemesis, on the other hand, merely pointed her weapon straight at him, making sure he wouldn't move while she addressed the Maximals.

"Well said Commander" Megatron mused as he listened to his second in command calmly and rationally explain the logic behind letting Predacon justice take its course, even the vermin Rattrap agreed with her!...But no, Primal still insisted on playing the bleeding spark hero, the fool failing to realize just how close Zodiac had come to eradicating even his hated family line from existence all for the sake of his shortsighted need for revenge.

If anyone on this planet needed to die, more so than even Blackarachnia or Primal himself, it was Zodiac, the fool had pushed him too far and had risked far more than even he realized just to stick it to Primal. Revenge was one thing, but Zodiac would have ruined both his plans and wiped most of Cybertron's population, predacon and maximal alike, from reality itself if he had succeeded. Primal could not be allowed to have his way this time, his stubborn sense of misguided morality would surely lead to more troubled down the road. Zodiac was seemingly powerless now, but who knew if he would stay that way, and even if he did, he had proven himself too dangerous to be allowed to roam freely.

OOP & Phoenix wrote: Primal's thumb nervously rubbed on the handle of his club, standing there and stewing about this interesting turn of events while Whitegrazer's and Aurora's injuries flooded his mind.

"Oh Primal, selfish and stupid to the bitter end I see, and you have the nerve to consider me the villain of our little tale" Megatron said to himself, contemplating whether to snipe Zodiac now from this position or order one of his underlings to do it for him, one way or the other Zodiac would not leave here in one piece unless it was as a Predacon prisoner, and honestly, he just wanted him dead at this point, couldn't care less about torturing him, he merely wanted his sentence carried out and his threat to his plans neutralized.

Nemesis, again, proved herself the voice of reason in the little farce that was going on down there, and watching Zodiac suffer, at the very least, made his own wounds feel better.
OOP & Phoenix wrote: "Do you think he really cares if you show him kindness and mercy now?" Rattrap asked Optimus.

"Oh enough of this slag" Megatron snarled as he just about had it, Primal's words making him sick beyond all reasoning, clearly their little alone time together in the brig had shattered his mind...Forgiveness? Redemption? REALLY?! How could he have been fighting against him in this war for this time and still believe in such complete and utter NONSENSE.

"Deathroll, forget the badger and come here, Zodiac must die and Primal is too feebleminded to comprehend even that simple of a task" Megatron commanded to his new heavy hitter, the one member of his crew who had his maximal opponent on the run.

"As you command Lord Megatron" Deathroll replied as he abandoned his pursuit of Ironclaw and tipped his drill downward, returning to the ground below and making his way towards everyone else's location while under cover, happy to do as he was ordered but a little disappointed that he had not destroyed his original opponent....Oh well, there was always next time.

Phoenix & OOP wrote: "You and Megatron really should stop underestimating me," he said darkly in a threatening manner toward Nemesis's words.

"Don't you mean you should stop overestimating yourself Primal?" Megatron sighed to himself as he continued to listen to his second in command's words of wisdom fall on deaf audio receptors as Primal continued to showcase all the worst aspects of maximal nature, from foolish naivety to self-righteousness...No doubt all the Maximal Elders had begun like Primal, thinking themselves so morally superior, allowing their egos to corrupt them as they blindly carried out the "legacy of the autobots" before them...Sickening, give Primal a few more megacycles of life and he'd be one of them for certain in no time.

"You never learn Primal, you honestly never do" Megatron wanted to yell at the maximal, but knowing it would do him no good at this point, so he merely charged his tail gun and prepared for another firefight, no way would he allowed Zodiac to escape hims again, someone had to be the responsible one here.

OOP & Phoenix wrote: "I don't think that's caused by our explosives," she disagreed, almost taking offense to the rat accusing her of such carelessness.

Megatron reviewed the coordinates Nemesis had sent him and smiled, pleased with her ingenuity as he replied "Well done Commander, I continue to be pleased by your results. All Predacons, leave this place now and meet me at these coordinates, we'll ambush the maximals there and do what Primal is too weak to do himself, as always. Take off as though we are retreating so that the maximals won't catch on to our real intentions, and do be quick about it, this area is no longer safe either way."

"At once Sire" Deathroll said, changing his direction as instructed while Inferno, burnt and still sizzling replied "At once my queen!" before returning to the sky shakily, whereas Terrorsaur scowled "Here we go again" as he swooped down and grabbed Waspinator in his clawed feet, flying off with him in tow.

"Another day Primal! ANOTHER DAY!" Megatron yelled at the top of his lungs as he too retreated, acting and sounding as thoroughly angry as he often did when things didn't go his way, for all intents and purposes looking like a bot defeated and on the run as he flew off with a disgusted snarl...Oh Primal, would you be surprised!

(Congrats DS!)
Terrorsaur wrote:"What the slag is going....ACK!"
Terrorsaur wrote:"So its true!...You DID go Maximal! Even I'd never stoop that low TRAITOR!"
Inferno wrote:"Ignore her drone, we have bigger prey to contend wiiiiiiiiittttttthhhhhhAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"

Landslide turned, about to shoot Terrorsaur in the backside with his gun, but noticed the flier buzz off after that. Landslide glanced towards the mountain side Blackarachnia was climbing down.
Rhinox wrote:"I wanted to ask you the same question," "The base has suffered some damage; we're assessing it now. Otherwise, we're alright. What's your status?"
Aurora wrote:"How are you guys doing?!," "Hope you make it back here soon as the base is a bit of a mess.. And Rattrap wasn't even here to clutter it this time!"

Landslide's right arm transformed to normal, he then responded Bit of a mess ere' Lass. Predacons joined in on the fight, but we're.. managing. Landslide then responded, watching the fight down bellow between Zodiac and Optimus. The base is a mess huh? Sounds like yer lookin' for a maid, I don't do skirts. Landslide then gave a laugh, flying towards the others.

Landslide then heard Rattrap on his radio, looks like he'd have to pick up the others and escape. Landslide then sent a message to Aurora and Rhinox back at the Axalon Alright, this volcano is gonna blow. We're headin' out now.

Megatron wrote:Commander, Umbra, well done! Feel free to join the festivities, something tells me Terrorsaur and Inferno could use your assistance, yyyyesssss"

Umbra simply nodded, he then turned, circling the area as he saw Terrorsaur split off from Landslide, with the large beetle heading for the mountains. Considering the ridiculous armor plating on the beetle and the strange lightning weapon he carried, the Ninja didn't exactly want to mess with the beetle in an area he'd have full advantage in.

Umbra observed the battle on the ground, with the maximals eventually taking Zodiac as prisoner. A foolish gesture if anything.. A swift death was the only thing suited for a monster like that.

Umbra turned his direction in the air, flying by Terrorsaur as he carried Waspinator, Umbra looked the wasp over. Looks like you guys had it rough.

Waspinator twitched, starting to come back online, his optics then widened as he looked at Umbra in the air. Ninjabot can fly?!

Umbra raised an optic ridge. I'm guessing he'll be fine.

Waspinator fluttered his wings, flying on his own power along side Terrorsaur and Inferno.

"Should have thought of that before you went "White Witch" on my person, Miss Grazer. And believe me, there is ALWAYS something to be gained in ANY situation, so there is certainly still something here for me...The traitor's life, your lover's, and most importantly of all, YOURS."
Witch. She has been called that on Cybertron on one or more occasions by both Maximal and Predacon. The derogatory label towards her didn't faze her one bit. Her optics kept focused on Megatron. She didn't have to have a connection with him to feel that blistering arrogance. She shook her head at the tyrant. Let him believe what he wished. As he charged a laser at her direction, she took it because Zodiac and Optimus were behind her. She didn't want any chance of Optimus getting hit. She took the pain. Feeling the purple laser, surging through her circuits. All she did was smile as Optimus' weapons gave him a direct hit.

"Pain is only temporary, Megatron. The wounds you leave will be nothing more but a distant memory." She said to the downed purple tyrant. A promise.
"Considering how obsessed you are with taking my life and everyone else's, I can only assume one outcome for someone who meant everything to me. But, for your sake, you better tell me the truth. You better tell me that he's being held captive. Did you kill Nexus Prime?! Tell me!"
"I didn't kill Nexus Prime,"
"As far as Nexus was concerned, this is the face he was looking at near the end."
"Nexus died believing you were the one who killed him."
"No... You're lying..." he muttered, trying to process his words. "YOU'RE LYING!" he hollered at him. Imagining Nexus seeing him... murdering him... On the verge of tears, he fought them back while trying to remain standing up when his legs wanted to buckle. "This is a nightmare. This can't be real,
Whitegrazer felt her own spark drop. For a time, she thought Nexus was alive. Zodiac was just playing around. He was just trying to make Optimus go mad with such a mind game. The idea of not knowing what happened to Nexus was probably worst than knowing. But come to find out, Zodiac told the truth. He did. He did the deed. He killed Optimus' mentor, Nexus Prime. No, did worse than just killed him. Made the old admiral believe that his student, Optimus Primal, did it. She could feel him, even if she didn't have her connection blocked to him, and sensed the overwhelming sorrow and grief in his optics. In his very spark. The thought of his mentor believing that he killed him. His mentor dead. A few days ago, before this darkness started, she remembered Optimus' joy in seeing who he thought was his mentor. Feeling his happiness to introduce him to his crew. Remembering how protective.... Oh, she couldn't think about it anymore! Oh, the feeling of watching and feeling Optimus' spark breaking and hurting several times over the course of a few days made her want to curse these days, curse the universe for it's dire cruelty to good men. No matter the mistakes, no one deserved to have their hearts, their souls, broken and tore apart over and over again. It was torture. Mental and physical torture.

If they weren't in sight of their enemy, she would have wept.

But if she wept, they would be mocked. Ridiculed. Spat on for their weakness.

To think caring and feeling is such a weakness to many. How better it is to crush a bot's spark rather than to understand... to nuture... to heal? Oh, it was too easy, too easy for them. Too easy to maim and murder!

And yet, they couldn't.

She couldn't.
"You should have seen the look on his face when he saw you enter the cell. It was pure joy at first, only to turn to dispair." He took another step closer. "It was beautiful."
"Zodiac..." She warned towards the shapeshifter.
"Shut up..."
"Optimus..." Her voice softened.
"Give my regards to Nexus,"
"You've underestimated us, Zodiac,"
Us...? What did Optimus mean by us? She saw his optics. Bloody. Just as stabbing as Aurora's needle Optimus stabbed into the shapeshifter's side. Felt it herself. As Zodiac felt the needle's content corusing through his body, she did too. The nanomachines inside her own body. Burning sensations all over her chest and adboment. Her spark area. she gripped her spark. Tried to not get on her knees. Tried to remaining standing as Zodiac's nanos inside his body and hers tore themselves apart.
"What.. did.. you.. do?!,"
"It was the only way, Zodiac. It was the only way." She explained to the shapeshifter. The pain subsided. Taking a deep breath, she gazed at Optimus. He wasn't looking too good. The smile on his face only showed her how much Optimus was dealing with inside. Dealing without her guidance and healing because of Zodiac's interference.
"This ends now, Zodiac! The revenge, the hunting, the murdering, it ends by MY hand. I helped develop you, and now I'm going to dismantle you! How does it feel to be so helpless and vulnerable?! Now you know what each of your victims have gone through, including Nexus!"
Watched as Optimus, in his beast mode, beat his chest. His wounded chest, causing his injuries to look a bit more worse for wear. "Optimus..." She said it gently. Even though, she didn't know if he would hear her hear through the sounds of his own cry of fury from the days events. The kick to Zodiac's chin Optimus gave took her off guard. Her hands were up, walking closer to Optimus. "Zodiac... He is no longer a threat. You beat him." Yet, she still kept an optic on Megatron. He was watching the whole ordeal with the mixture of excitement. Like a bot watching a television show, enjoying the drama.
The last words Optimus just said to Zodiac reminded her what a few told her when she was wounded. Her power lost. Stripped from her.
"You.. bastard..,"
"You did this to yourself. You could have stopped what you were doing, you could have left this planet, but you were too consumed by your own revenge. And for what? Giving you extraordinary technology that you embraced?"
"How does it feel, Zodiac?"
Despite her concern for Optimus' well-being, the regret of bring him here still nagged her spark, Optimus made his point across towards Zodiac. His words, though they were intended to hurt and taunt Zodiac back, Optimus' own vengeance and justice for his fallen mentor, told a truth she had tried desperately for Zodiac to accept. To stop this vengeance... this madness or he would be hurt greater than he know. Looking at Zodiac now, their connection still going, despite him trying to appear like this was just a setback, Zodiac was crushed by this development. His nanomachines gone. Never did he expect them to actually go after his nanomachines. He was so caught up... overestimated himself. Underestimated them.

Right now, Zodiac was depowered. Though, he still fought back with his words. More of a defense rather than an actual threat.
"I've never been better..,"
"You should have stopped,"
Optimus gazed at her. She gazed back. Because of Zodiac's weakened state, though she still had Zodiac's connection attached to her, it would take a couple of days for her to cleanse that...

You don't have to cleanse it. Don't you feel a bit different? Those nanomachines may have not healed your wound fully, but you are more attune with your surroundings. Look deeper inside, Whitegrazer.

Closed her optics. Focused on her spark. Yes! Yes! The wound... it healed partially. Yet, her senses. Her connections and bonds were easily to organize and control. She needed this. In order to help Optimus and the others deal with this war, what has happened the last few days.
I have never taken a life and I am NOT going to start with HIM!"
Whitegrazer came to Optimus' aid, hoping to keep him from firing, but he did it himself. She sighed, relieved. She was aware of the bouts of him talking to himself, but she knew it was to those voices inside his mind. Voices that haven't left him since he returned from the Darksyde. These voices... These thoughst were all symptoms of Optimus' trauma. The only way to combat the voices was for Optimus to take time for himself. Get him out of this battlefield and help him overcome what has happened the last few days.

She wondered if she should answer him about unblocking their connection. She decided to and gazed at Optimus, pointing to her spark area, "It's all right now. If you want..." Kept her distance, if Optimus wished, she stood by him. His facial expression, fighting within himself once more. Asking permission because she didn't want to overwhelm him with too much. Last time, her voice was drowned out by the voices to point even her voice was noise to him. But maybe with her some of her abilities' strength returning. She might be able to drown out those voices. "Optimus... Let's take Zodiac with us. We can handle Megatron. I can deal with Zodiac for you." She offered him, reaching her hand out towards him. She didn't want him to think he needed to face him anymore this day. Since he was now down for the count, Optimus and the others could breath easier.

All they needed to do is safely get Zodiac back to the Axalon without issues.

A couple of shots threw snow dust in her direction. She looked up to see Nemesis above. Oh no...
"What happened?!" Rattrap asked, realizing that the shapeshifter was actually walking away from Optimus. "Did it work?!"
Blackarachnia rushed right behind the Maximal Rat. She was pointing a weapon at the shapeshifter's back. "Don't tell me you guys are letting him walk away? It was then she remembered the syringe that little dweeb gave Optimus. So Optimus actually took away the shapeshifter's powers? Well, maybe she shouldn't call him a shapeshifter anymore. Since it seems, he couldn't do that now.

He was just one of them now. Wonder how weak he was without those irritating nanomachines.
"Isn't it obvious, Optimus?," she called over to the injured ape, "I've come to claim this traitor on behalf of the Predacons,"
Yes! Let 'er take him!" Rattrap joyfully agreed, standing along side of Optimus. "We did our part. He probably ain't a threat to us anymore. If they want 'im, they can have him."
"Are we sure want to do that?" Blackarachnia didn't ask out of kindness but for practical reasons. She didn't want Megatron to have another project of his own, trying replicate Zodiac's abilities to use for his own favor.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"Yes!

"And I thought Primal was losing it..,"
"Makes no sense in kicking a bot when he is down." That was her opinion. Despite everything Zodiac had done, she wasn't going to parade his falures in an attempt to grab revenge nor recreate what he has done to just enjoy his pain or suffering to make herself feel better. If they couldn't have deactivated his nanos, and there was no choice, then they would have to end his life. Yet, since, with Aurora's smarts and Zodiac's own nanos in her body, they were able to accomplish and instead of killing Zodiac, they took away what made him a pwoerful threat to both sides.

"Optimus is right," Whitegrazer heard from everyone. Rattrap. Nemesis. She looked at Nemesis. Hearing that Megatron gave her a grand position was good, and it meant that Nemesis wasn't in danger. She was actually glad to see the woman. Even if it didn't make sense to the others why should would be. "He tried to kill you, and yet, he failed. He pretended to be you. Making your comrades believe that you betrayed them. You have, since, cleared your name by saving your comrades from certain death and it seems you got promoted in the process. Does this erase what he done? No. Of course not, but despite what he has done, you have become stronger for it. There is much he has to answer for on our end. It would make more sense if he came with us."

Blackarachnia raised her optic at the white mare's diplomatic statements. Also, couldn't understand why the Maximal horse would be so... nice towards Nemesis. More and more this Maximal amused yet freaked her out at the same time. She wondered if it did to other Maximals.
"This isn't happening..,"
Real impressive,"
She was close enough to see Nemesis lower her arm towards her sword, but she did nothing as Nemesis seemed to not make any attempt to unsheathe it. Nemesis has shown a bit of respect towards Optimus. She had noticed it since the few times she saw Nemesis interacted with him. Maybe even more than Megatron.
"We finally agree on somethin'!" Rattrap exclaimed to Zodiac. Then he yanked upward on the menace's arm as a gesture while saying, "Get up."
She had watched Rattrap tie up Zodiac. Heard the amusing comment from Nemesis that made her cover her mouth to keep anyone from seeing her smile before she cleared her throat and maintained her stance. Looked at Optimus to see how he was doing. Part of her was glad that this battle has ended and that they were making their way back. In a great haste, due to the fail safe as Zodiac called it. She noticed the snow's vicious wind making it hard to see. She followed Rattrap and looked at Zodiac.

"I know you don't like prisons, but you will be treated humanely." She glanced at him. Once over. I was in your place at one time. Before my injury, I had a lot of power. Power I misused out of arrogance and anger, and I lost it because of my own actions. May not look like it now, Zodiac. But this can be a new beginning for you. If you let it.

Blackarachnia didn't like this. These Maximals thought Megatron was just going to let them go with Zodiac?

"You are on edge, Blackarachnia. You all right?"

"Yeah, unlike you guys, I know how these guys think. Don't you guys think this is a little too easy?" She glared at Rattrap. Wondering if he felt the same way or was she the only way so distrustful of being let go easily.

Whitegrazer looked at Optimus then at Rattrap. Something wasn't right. Something didn't feel right. The mountain was still shaking. They needed to keep moving. She looked at Zodiac than back at Rattrap. Back at Optimus. "Wait. Maybe we should create a decoy. Just in case the Predacons do try to pull something. I don't think any of us here can handle another battle. Maybe I should go in front, and check to see if our paths are clear."

"Maybe we should split up."

(ooc: Congratulations, DS! Newborns are cute. )
"Commander, Umbra, well done! Feel free to join the festivities, something tells me Terrorsaur and Inferno could use your assistance, yyyyesssss"
So what else was new, Nemesis pondered. Although after she emerged from the mountain, she'd been trying to get the traitor turned over to the Predacons so he wouldn't be able to slip through the cracks again. Granted the likelihood of that happening now that he did not have his powers, was seriously diminished.
Nemesis had merely shrugged at that. She didn't attempt to stop them from taking Zodiac away, not yet, but only because she realized their chances would be better if the Predacons managed to catch them off guard on their way back home.

"Very well. You may take him. Just don't treat him too nicely," she told them, receiving a bit of a glare from Zodiac as he passed by her.
"Well done Commander, I continue to be pleased by your results. All Predacons, leave this place now and meet me at these coordinates, we'll ambush the maximals there and do what Primal is too weak to do himself, as always. Take off as though we are retreating so that the maximals won't catch on to our real intentions, and do be quick about it, this area is no longer safe either way."
Nemesis stared off into the distance where the tracks left behind after the Maximals ad their prisoner were quickly getting covered in a fresh layer of snow. Underneath her feet the mountain was rumbling again, a menacing reminder of what was to come. Deciding not to waste any more time, she hurriedly took off to join the other Predacons as they prepared to set up an ambush. It had been a long time coming but now the traitor was about to learn what the cost of betraying his own kin was.
"It was the only way, Zodiac. It was the only way."
As Whitegrazer's words lingered in his mind, Zodiac merely sent her a solemn stare as he made his way through the snow with Rattrap following immediately behind him. There was no point in arguing the fact with her. She couldn't understand what he had lost, none of them could. His fists clenched up a bit more tightly behind his back as he thought about her words, his mood rapidly changing from anger to despair and back again.

Of course that link with the female had survived an experience so traumatic that he had lost a big part of himself. Life could be a cruel mistress indeed.
"I know you don't like prisons, but you will be treated humanely."
"I'm not foreign to serving time," Zodiac immediately snapped back at he female, "I've spent most of my life in one prison or another."

He grew a bit quieter after that, his fists finally un-clenching as he tugged slightly at the restraints again.

I was in your place at one time. Before my injury, I had a lot of power. Power I misused out of arrogance and anger, and I lost it because of my own actions. May not look like it now, Zodiac. But this can be a new beginning for you. If you let it.

As if to add to the mockery that his his life had turned into from these recent events, the female continued to converse with him only via their link this time. But to his surprise he did no respond to her in anger or with a desire to torment this time.

Did you lose everything?, he asked her. Did you lose it all in one uncanny twist of fate?

He was not willing to admit to himself much less to anyone else that he had brought his misery upon himself. He wasn't ready. Not yet.

As they continued walking, heading down the mountain, Zodiac glanced briefly back at where Nemesis had been standing. She'd long since disappeared in the thick snowfall if she was even still there. It gave him a chilling feeling, honestly, as he knew all too well that Megatron and the others wouldn't give up so easily. The Predacons were out for blood. His blood.
Bit of a mess ere' Lass. Predacons joined in on the fight, but we're.. managing.
They were managing? Well that was a welcome relief. The little fuzor could do with some good news for a change.
The base is a mess huh? Sounds like yer lookin' for a maid, I don't do skirts.
She stuck her tongue out upon hearing Landslide's response even though he wasn't anywhere near her to see it. "Don't look at me! My room is the perfect example of how fond I am of cleaning." Granted her room no doubt looked worse than ever right now due to the entire base having seen better times.
Alright, this volcano is gonna blow. We're headin' out now.
"You guys managed to get a volcano to erupt?! Wow.."

OOC: Thanks everyone! The little one is indeed AWESOME :D, and even cuter now that her eyes are open and checking everyone out now :3
NaitoKage wrote: Umbra turned his direction in the air, flying by Terrorsaur as he carried Waspinator, Umbra looked the wasp over.

"No kidding" Terrorsaur grumbled back, disappointed that he had not been able to destroy the spider traitor Blackarachnia, that widow had officially crossed the line...Betraying your boss to become the new boss was one thing, but switching allegiance over to the maximals? That was an entirely different form of treason that had no self-respecting predacon could ignore or forgive...Another Dinobot, just great.

"Yeah, apparently so, Wasp...So how long has that been a thing, Umbra?" Terrorsaur inquired, too annoyed with today's events to be shocked over the flying octopus joining their formation.

"By the grace of the Royalty no doubt!" Inferno replied, sounding even more insane than usual, his voice distorted as sparks flew from his joints as he hovered shakily through the sky, Terrorsaur choosing to put a bit more distance between them just in case the pyromaniacal ant finally went off like a firecracker.

"Sure big guy, I'm sure that's what did it" Terrorsaur replied, humoring the dumb bug.

It had been a long time coming but now the traitor was about to learn what the cost of betraying his own kin was.

Megatron's act had been as convincing as he could possibly make it, and his troops had certainly looked as if they had had enough, but he of course had no intention of letting Primal's madness drag them all down to the Pit, he after all didn't know any better, didn't realize that the world they fought upon was more than just an alien testing ground, it was the resting place and future focal point of the Great War....Someone as dangerous and foolish as Zodiac could not be entrusted to bleeding spark maximals who would not only attempt to care for the omnicidal traitor, but would also endeavor to "redeem" him...Yuck, such sentimental naivety was the main reason why the maximals were destined to lose this war no matter how many setbacks they threw his way, they were just too clueless to know when to finish an enemy off so they could not return to strike back at them again!

"What does not kill you, only makes you STRONGER" Megatron told himself, a lesson he knew all too well, for throughout the course of the Beast Wars Primal's attempts to play peacemaker and only foil his plans rather than destroy him and his predacons had only enabled Megatron to grow wiser and stronger as time went by, whether it be by strengthening the numbers of his crew, the transwarp wave upgrading his body, or simply his plans growing grander in scope and more difficult to counter, Megatron now ten times the predacon he had been at the beginning of the war...Oh, if only he could go back in time with the power and knowledge he had now, the maximals would be finished and he'd be ruler of Cybertron already.

"I suppose thats what he must have thought of when he inscribed his message on the Golden Disk" Megatron said, referring of course to his decepticon namesake, as he radioed Nemesis and asked "Happen to notice which direction the maximals have gone in, Subcommander?"

It would be rather unfortunate if their prey gave them the slip before they had even prepared the trap, but regardless, Megatron continued onward to his destination, reaching it first before the others and already examining the mountain pass to see how best to utilize it against their enemies...Which he supposed could turn out to be unnecessary after all if the resulting explosion from the volcano killed them all for him first.

"Death by my capable hands or death by fiery explosion...I wonder Primal, given your track record, which do you fear more?" Megatron laughed in remembrance of how he'd killed Primal once before by means of both his own cunning and guile and a convenient alien planet buster...This time however, he'd see to it that both Primal and Zodiac's deaths were quite permanent...Yyyyyeessssss.

(( OOC: Thank you, everyone, for putting so much time and effort into your posts after responding to our incredibly long joint post. They are all fantastic! On that note, a minor correction to your post, una, Optimus is still in robot mode, he never went back to his beast mode during that whole escapade. :) Also, congratulations, uncle DarkSpark! ))
"Another day Primal! ANOTHER DAY!"
Optimus paused in his tracks for a moment to look over his shoulder when he heard Megatron's bellow. If the roles were ever reversed and it was Megatron who lost everything and his all of his power instead of Zodiac or himself, he would likely be begging for his life and to be shown mercy. One day, it might come to that. After all, stranger things have happened. Was he truly pure evil? Through the blowing snow, he could just make out Megatron's figure turning and retreating, along with the rest of his Predacons. That was it? That was Megatron's grand exit? No attempt on his life while he was obviously compromised? No attempt on Zodiac's who couldn't fight back? Many of his Maximals were struggling right now and the all-powerful tyrant wasn't going to take advantage of the situation while the majority of his Predacons, himself included, had hardly taken firepower? Was the inevitable blowing up of the mountain the only thing scaring him off? No, something didn't feel right to Primal with the Predacons' retreat. Then again, when was the last time he felt "normal", as in like himself? Technically, it was out of his hands. Rattrap was still in command. So, after bending down and picking up his partially eaten gun that Zodiac had started to consume before he lost his unique ability, he continued walking with the other Maximals with his slight limp that Megatron had given him back at the Darksyde when he and the fake Nexus Prime were held prisoner.

Nexus Prime... How long ago was it when Zodiac had killed him? All this time he was gone, murdered by his "star pupil" by appearance. What a terrible nightmare to think about, Optimus putting himself in Nexus's position and seeing himself as the killer. He knew what it was like to die - the void of emptiness, mourning and lifelessness - because someone else sealed his fate, but to imagine his mentor in that position, who always seemed invincible to him, just crushed his spark. It literally ached inside of his abdomen. Even if Nexus had lied to him about the truth, he still remembered the lessons he taught him, his voice, his expectations, his caring about him and his kindness. It made him realize that he probably only wanted to keep Zodiac alive and out of Megatron's hands for one reason; to get the answers to his questions. Other than that, what was Zodiac to him? What was his life worth after all the lives he had taken?

Yes, he's worthless. Be rid of him as soon as you can. Throw him to the wolves when you're done with him, his corrupted conscience told him.

What if he can change...? Optimus argued with himself.

He won't change! All he knows is manipulation and deception! He's no different than Megatron, both of which who are out to make you a fool and kill you. Get your answers and then dispose of him.

Optimus didn't accept or deny what the voice tried convincing him of doing. His mind began to wander to the conversation he heard earlier between Whitegrazer and Megatron.
"Get back, Megatron. Nothing would be gained here. The device is off. Destroyed. Your base is safe. There is nothing here for you."
"Should have thought of that before you went "White Witch" on my person, Miss Grazer. And believe me, there is ALWAYS something to be gained in ANY situation, so there is certainly still something here for me...The traitor's life, your lover's, and most importantly of all, YOURS."
"Pain is only temporary, Megatron. The wounds you leave will be nothing more but a distant memory."
Although he would likely never admit it, Optimus agreed with Megatron on this one. From the renegade's perspective, there was a lot that he could still take away from this dire situation. He just wasn't sure why he hadn't acted on any of its advantages yet if he was even going to. And Primal did not take Megatron's threats lightly. Obviously his and Whitegrazer's relationship was a great motivator for the t-rex to exploit them and try to create chaos and suffering to dismantle the Maximals. But the mare and the gorilla had already prepared themselves for such situations and had been tested enough times now to focus on their team as a whole and not on themselves as a couple. Good luck, Megatron, he sarcastically wished him. As for Whitegrazer's last statement... Physical pain was temporary, but he was still suffering from emotional and mental pain because of Megatron, and now also from Zodiac. He had a scar on his face that would always remind him of that day, the entirety of that day and all that transpired, that he would carry it for the rest of his existence. It could never be a distant memory, could it? Nightmist, Valkyrie, Icebreaker... All of their deaths were far from being distant memories; they were still quite fresh. So he couldn't quite grasp what Whitegrazer meant.
"Optimus..." "Zodiac... He is no longer a threat. You beat him."
"We don't know that for certain," he told the Empath. "And it wasn't me. I was just the deliverer." He was careful to leave out Aurora's name so as not to let Zodiac know who it was that created the cocktail that led to his demise.
"Makes no sense in kicking a bot when he is down."
"I already did that," Optimus smirked before realizing what he said and then appeared to be ashamed.
"Optimus is right," "He tried to kill you, and yet, he failed.
"Very well. You may take him. Just don't treat him too nicely,"
Even Nemesis was being too cooperative about this. Surely she was just upset about the Maximals taking him for themselves as Megatron was... After everything Zodiac had put her through, like trying to kill her along with the rest of the Maximals, and framing her so that she had no choice but to seek refuge with - and get assistance from - the Maximals?
"It's all right now. If you want..."
Primal's gaze followed from her tapping where her spark was located beneath her armor up to her optics while they continued walking before he looked away and glanced at Zodiac. "Oh, it's alright now? I needed you before this got out of hand," he said coldly and accusingly. Then he quickly grew apologetic and said, "I'm sorry, Whitegrazer... I didn't mean that. I mean, part of me did, but that's not me. ...Is it?" He didn't necessarily give her the permission she was searching for but he also kept his connection to her open.
"Optimus... Let's take Zodiac with us. We can handle Megatron. I can deal with Zodiac for you."
"No. He has a lot to answer for. There are things I need to know." He paused thoughtfully and asked her, "Are you alright? What about his nanobots inside of you? Are they disabled? Are you in any pain? You know, when we have time for a debriefing, I'm going to have to know about how you detonated those missiles in mid air."
"I know you don't like prisons, but you will be treated humanely."
Not likely, the whisper chuckled. Optimus ignored it but glanced at Zodiac with his wrists cuffed and Rattrap's barrel of his gun trained on him.
"I'm not foreign to serving time," "I've spent most of my life in one prison or another."
"But you are foreign to compassion and forgiveness," Primal commented. He heard his screams from so long ago on Cybertron when he and Nexus were watching from the other side of the window. They had put him through so much pain. That's all he knew. Pain, misery, isolation, terrible things done to him against his will, and prisons. Nemesis, too. That was why Optimus couldn't help but have pity for them, especially if he had been involved.
"You are on edge, Blackarachnia. You all right?"
When Whitegrazer asked that, both Optimus and Rattrap glanced at the spider as she regrouped with them and appeared to be returning back to base with them and not the Predacons. Huh. Rattrap was certain she'd have high-tailed it back to Megs or even left to be on her own since she failed to take control of the Vok's weapon. Then again, she did fire at Terrorsaur which was witnessed by others and very likely put a big target on her back. He guessed there was no going back for her unless she were able to devise some kind of ultimate scheme of sabotaging everything for the Maximals and opening the door for Megatron to walk into their base and kill them all execution style. Was that too dark even for her? Probably not.
"Yeah, unlike you guys, I know how these guys think. Don't you guys think this is a little too easy?"
"Hey, every time we escape dese battles with our lives makes 'em a little too easy," the shortest Maximal of the group told her, which was typically the reality of being a Maximal or a Predacon traitor on this planet.
"Wait. Maybe we should create a decoy. Just in case the Predacons do try to pull something. I don't think any of us here can handle another battle. Maybe I should go in front, and check to see if our paths are clear."
"Maybe we should split up."
"Calm down, lady and... spider," Rattrap said as he looked at them from behind Zodiac who was fiddling with his cuffs, balling his fists and then relaxing them, unbeknownst to the rodent as to what was going through his mind by this point, and giving a little insult to the Predacon. "Yeah, Megatron's probably up ta somethin'. He doesn't give up dat easily. So, 'Grazer, you and Blackarachnia take point and make sure dere ain't anythin' suspicious up ahead. Optimus, you take to the air for a bird's eye view. And, Landslide, stay here with me and Zodiac 'cause we all know he's a primary target and dere ain't a lot cover out here. And let's hurry up and get outta here, guys!" he told them to pick up the pace while the mountain rumbled. At least the snow was letting up and tapering off.

Although Optimus was very reluctant to leave Zodiac's side considering how everyone seemed to be after him, he obeyed the spy's orders and nodded to Rattrap, leaping up into the air and reverting to his vehicle mode with a sigh of relief while moving his lacerated chest to his back now. He hovered there for a moment, gazing upon Whitegrazer before glancing at the others and blasting off into the sky.
Bit of a mess ere' Lass. Predacons joined in on the fight, but we're.. managing. The base is a mess huh? Sounds like yer lookin' for a maid, I don't do skirts. Alright, this volcano is gonna blow. We're headin' out now.
"Got a hold of Rhinox and Aurora?" Rattrap asked Landslide. "Are they alright? Let 'em know it worked," he said, referring to the vial Aurora had produced.

"Don't look at me! My room is the perfect example of how fond I am of cleaning."
Rhinox chuckled at their conversation, and involuntarily pictured the beetle in a maid's outfit. He shuddered to try and deplete it from his memory. Aye... he thought, It's been a long day.
"You guys managed to get a volcano to erupt?! Wow.."
"I'm sure the Predacons played a hand in that, along with the Vok's weapon," the engineer commented, ever the more serious tone of the group. "I take it Zodiac and the machine were stopped?"
"Well, that's just prime!"

Landslide observed the others as they spoke, reaching behind his back he pulled out the assault rifle he got from the maximal base earlier, holding it with his right hand pointed towards the ground.

Landslide gave a nod, scanning the horizon as he walked with Rattrap and Zodiac.

Rhinox wrote:"I'm sure the Predacons played a hand in that, along with the Vok's weapon," "I take it Zodiac and the machine were stopped?"

Landslide gave a smirk listening, then responded to Rhinox Yeah, the machine was done in by Ironclaw. Zodiac is cuffed and we're walking back to base, that virus worked. Try to get a cell ready fer im' if you can, but be careful round the armory and hanger..if the energon stored there hasn't gone off yet, there's still a possibility it might.

Landslide then looked towards Rattrap muting his mic They said it wasn't too good over there lad.. To be honest, I'm wondering if we'd be better off chuckin' him in the volcano.. Can't say I'd lose any sleep over doin' that.

Landslide then resumed looking around as they walked, making sure to observe Zodiac incase he tried anything.

"We don't know that for certain," he told the Empath. "And it wasn't me. I was just the deliverer."
"True, but without his nanos, he won't be able to shapeshift or devour anyone. " Whitegrazer pointed out to Optimus and smiled. "Despite the risk, you completed what you set out to do." she didn't want Optimus to minimize his accomplishment here. He might still need some time, but things could have been a lot worse for him here.
"I already did that,"
Yes. She knew that. She saw it. Her words were meant for him as well. It seems he didn't like what he did either. It was an action that surprised him. Reacting to his pain by getting what ever pain he could give towards Zodiac for what he did to him. But hurtng Zodiac wasn't changing him nor givng him any satisfaction besides getting out aggression. Never should have brought him here. At least, she knew what she needed to help Optimus with, but she didn't need to put him through this battle in order to see it. She already knew it, and she was ashamed at herself from not standing up despite what everyone believed.
"Oh, it's alright now? I needed you before this got out of hand," he said coldly and accusingly. Then he quickly grew apologetic and said, "I'm sorry, Whitegrazer... I didn't mean that. I mean, part of me did, but that's not me. ...Is it?"
His words did hurt her, but she had no time to actually express it. Optimus and her already knew why she did what she did. She was caught inbetween, and she made a choice to spare him more voices as well as Zodiac's mind games. "No, you have a right to be angry with me. I abandoned you to fight a battle you couldn't yet fight alone. But I'm here now, Optimus. If you let me."

You are committing the same mistake, Whitegrazer, as you did before. I will remind you I disapprove of your... feelings towards Optimus. Should have buried it along with your own sins. Now, you are getting too closer to them. All of them. Making my job harder, but unlike you, I will not allow my abilities to get in the way of what must be done. If you want to be with them, then I will make sure you realize your error. Let go, Whitegrazer. Let go of them or you will fall with them. TyCross' visage hissed behind her. She looked back to see that his skull-like face was grave. Serious. Cold.

What did he mean by that?

She shook it off. Brushed out TyCross' threat. Deal with him another time. She needed to focus on what was happening in front of her. Optimus. Zodiac. The Predacons.

She sensed he let the connection open for her. He didn't say yes, but it did show he did want her. Clearing her mind of all thoughts for now, replacing any type of intense emotion with calmness, she unblocked the connection. Not saying anything because it was Optimus who needed to initiate it. She couldn't, or she might be dong more harm than good. Despite the fact she still had a connection with Zodiac, because of her rejuvenation, she was able to close her optics. Imagine Zodiac and Optimus, putting up an invisible wall between them, so Zodiac nor Optimus could have a contact. The only way through was through her. She was the conduit, and she won't falter.
"I know you do, but I believe it might be wise to give yourself time. Rest." When Optimus asked about her and her... little stunt, she smiled warmly, "I'm fine." That's all she wanted to say. She didn't want to say anything more. Especially with Predacons near by and... others like Ironclaw. "I will gladly tell you why and how I was able to do that, but I only wish to discuss it with you only. Unless you wish otherwise."
"I'm not foreign to serving time," Zodiac immediately snapped back at he female, "I've spent most of my life in one prison or another."
"But you are foreign to compassion and forgiveness,"
Did you lose everything?, he asked her. Did you lose it all in one uncanny twist of fate?
Actually, yes, yes, I did. She said through Zodiac's connection. Paused, at first. Then smiled. It was at the tail end of the war before the Pax Cybertronia was signed. I bet you have heard about what transpired, even though much of it was lies on both sides. After a very grueling and costly battle between my unit and Predacon soldiers, where I sadly was the only Maximal survivor, I was captured by Predacons, who didn't know that the war was over. At the time, I didn't either. I was emotionally and physically drained. They decided to use me for sport. I was trapped in enemy territory with all those I served with and grown to care for, dead. Remembering their echoes and screams inside my very soul. Then when I finally returned, my own power and abilities would be taken from me by my own allies. By my own people. And for a moment, I was about to be given up to criminals. The High Council decided to not go through with it in the end.

She stared at Zodiac. I was depowered, lost, angry, and alone. Trapped. Most of my people see me as a hermit or a cot. My enemy see me as a witch. But I learned something. Compassion. Forgiveness. Maybe you would too, but that is your choice, Zodiac.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"Calm down, lady and... spider," Rattrap said as he looked at them from behind Zodiac who was fiddling with his cuffs, balling his fists and then relaxing them, unbeknownst to the rodent as to what was going through his mind by this point, and giving a little insult to the Predacon. Whitegrazer nodded, thinking this was a good time to see how stronger her abilities have become. She saw Optimus' glance at her direction. Returned it with a smile, though her optics were concerned. She had a bad feeling about this.

Blackarachnia glared at the rat's insult, "You call yourself a man? Heh. Come on, horsey, we...ladies have to make sure the path is clear for our gentlemen." Though, she was glad to see that the Maximals were being smart this time around. Wished she didn't have to take point with the white mare. With her experiences with Tarantulas' mind control still stuck in her mind, she didn't want someone poking inside her very soul. It was funny, though. Whoever this Maximal was, no matter what the Maximals called her, an Empath, her abilities were too strange. Even for an Empath. Maybe Megatron was right in calling her a witch. All she missed was a broomstick.

Blackarachnia decided to talk in a low voice towards the Maximal horse, "Can you use your exploding...thing against them?"

"I can't do that now."

"Why?"

Whitegrazer just shook her head and whisper back, "I'm...It's complicated."

"Great."

Whitegrazer went at a slow stride as she made her way towards the mountain pass. Closing her optics, she concentrated on the path ahead of her. Focused. Keeping herself alert. Though, as she walked forward, she felt an inkling. The mountain was rumbling terribly. She wanted them to stay put, but with the mountain's collapse, she knew they couldn't. Either face the Predacons or get dogpiled by rocks and snow. She froze. Stopped.

((OOC: I didn't know how to do the end, so I hope this is all right. ))

RPG Characters: Nemesis,Aurora,Zodiac

Unread post by Phoenix »

Nemesis followed the Maximals in the sky, staying just far enough away to avoid being spotted. Her choice of an alternative mode on this planet came with certain perks. One of them being that as a bird of prey she had excellent vision and exceptional tracking skills from above, a fact that she was putting to good use at this moment. Even though the blowing snow made visibility poor from time to time, it wasn't proving very difficult to track the Maximals and the two traitors they harbored in their midst.
"Happen to notice which direction the maximals have gone in, Subcommander?"
She ignored Megatron addressing her by Deathroll's title again. It was still an honor, even though she felt the tiniest amount of uneasiness by how Zodiac had portrayed her newfound rank as merely a way for Megatron to better control her.

"They are due in a southeastern direction," Nemesis responded, having expected Megatron to ask, "They are heading down the mountain pass as predicted. Whitegrazer and BlackArachnia are taking point. Optimus.." She paused for a brief moment as the Maximal commander suddenly took to the sky, no doubt to make sure no Predacons were too close. Seeing that, she held back, merely gliding on her wings as if she truly was a large bird off in the distance. Of course there weren't many birds on this planet anywhere near her size.

"..is keeping watch from the air. The traitor remains below with Rattrap and Landslide," she continued her report in a whispering voice.

Zodiac, albeit surprisingly cooperative right now, said nothing for much of the walk down the mountain. For the most part his optics remained fixed in front of him, only occasionally drifting to one of the others. Primal's admission resulted in one of those few times.
"And it wasn't me. I was just the deliverer."
"Despite the risk, you completed what you set out to do."
His words caused the former shapeshifter to stop abruptly, his optics lingering on Optimus a little longer than he planned to. Truthfully the renegade had not even considered who might have developed the antidote or whatever it was before. Despite the fact Primal was careful not to reveal the identity of whoever put the concoction together, his words revealed more than he may have intended.

After all, Zodiac knew the Maximals and their capabilities. He had spent time with them while pretending to be Nexus. In addition he had control over Sentinel for a while and with it he also had access to the computer files on all the Maximal personnel. There were only two Maximals with the chemistry background required to produce such results. And neither of them were present for his capture. The dragon's optics gleamed with recognition for a brief moment before he started walking again.
"Makes no sense in kicking a bot when he is down."
"I already did that,"
Zodiac let out an irritated snuff at those words, jerking slightly at the bonds again as he walked. Still, as badly as he wanted to interrupt their conversation, he chose to remain silent for now and merely listen.
"No. He has a lot to answer for. There are things I need to know."
No doubt. And this time, if allowed to, Zodiac would answer. With his entire life having come crashing down around him, there were a few things the former shapeshifter would like to get off his chest as well.

He listened as the conversation between Whitegrazer and Optimus continued. To his surprise, Primal was addressing the sense of betrayal he felt for being shut out by the white female at a time he really could have used her. Zodiac knew what the reason for that was, he could feel it despite the white mare's best efforts to keep her personal feelings from him. She had been protecting her beloved Primal from him and the damage he could cause due to their involuntary link.
"Oh, it's alright now? I needed you before this got out of hand,"
The notion caused the corner of the former shapeshifter's mouth to curl up into something of a smile, if only for a moment. Oh this was more entertaining than watching the elders squabble. Albeit the smugness swiftly disappeared from his features when..
"But you are foreign to compassion and forgiveness,"
Again Zodiac slowed his movement as he stared back at Optimus. He had been taken aback by the Maximal leader's unexpected remark. Compassion? Forgiveness? What was his longtime foe insinuating?

"You have me bound and you are taking me to prison.. yet you are willing to discuss showing me compassion and forgiveness? What's wrong with this picture..," he responded before glancing briefly at the rodent. "Megatron hit him a bit too hard over the head, didn't he?"

Well.. at least he was still able to see some humor in all of this. Yet despite the fact he was joking Primal's words away, Optimus' sentence repeated itself in his mind. What had he meant by that..? Was he actually offering a less brutal future?

A moment later Primal took off, wanting to make sure his beloved team was safe. Zodiac glanced skyward as the ape went. But it wasn't the Maximal that caught his attention but rather something moving off in the distance. Zodiac dropped his taunting lilt as he turned to the rodent. "We are being followed."

At the same time, Whitegrazer addressed him via their connection, before she left to take point with the traitorous she-spider.

Actually, yes, yes, I did. I was depowered, lost, angry, and alone. Trapped. Most of my people see me as a hermit or a cot. My enemy see me as a witch. But I learned something. Compassion. Forgiveness. Maybe you would too, but that is your choice, Zodiac.

As it turned out, Whitegrazer chose to use the same words as Optimus did a mere moment before. Compassion.. Forgiveness. And Zodiac found himself wondering which one of them were rubbing off on the other. Those words were almost foreign to the renegade. Sure, he knew what they meant, of course, but they were not notions that were readily used where he came from. Why were the Maximals so ready to use them now? Did they think he'd break more easily if they took such an approach towards their captured foe? To give him a false sense of hope? He couldn't really tell..

He chose not to respond to her story immediately, instead letting her move up ahead. But he was considering her words very carefully. Finally he glanced up ahead to where Whitegrazer's form barely stood out against the surroundings.

What are you?, he asked of her. It was a simple question but he had a feeling the answer was terribly complicated.
Yeah, the machine was done in by Ironclaw. Zodiac is cuffed and we're walking back to base, that virus worked. Try to get a cell ready fer im' if you can, but be careful round the armory and hanger..if the energon stored there hasn't gone off yet, there's still a possibility it might.
Aurora went still for a moment, taking in what Landslide had just reported. Ironclaw.. He wasn't only there, but he had actually stopped the machine and thus saved the Axalon.. and its remaining occupants? Perhaps the transmetal badger was not as far gone as she had initially assumed. And they were bringing an immobilized Zodiac back in? Well.. great, she presumed, even though the thought of the shapeshifting menace being around scared her.

"Will do," she replied as she continued patching up the hull of the Axalon. As soon as she was done, she could get to work on the brig.

"I'd check my chassis for bugs and explosives as soon as possible if I were you Umbra" Terrorsaur said, nodding in agreement of Waspinator's assessment of Umbra's sanity in regards to trusting Tarantulas, that spider was ten different flavors of batshit crazy, and creepy to boot, not someone you wanted operating on your person, especially not without supervision from someone you trusted to shoot him in the head if he did anything suspicious.

"Regardless, the Royalty will be pleased to learn of Umbra's new flight mode, the Colony's air force grows even stronger this day!" Inferno replied in approval of Umbra's upgrade, before adding "But yes, spiders are never to be trusted, by decree of the Royalty himself!"

"Oh Primal, I can always count on you to complicate matters that should be woefully simple, can I not?" Megatron thought to himself as he then replied back to Nemesis "Continue your observation of the enemy's movements Commander, report any changes in their direction, otherwise just be ready to cut off their escape when myself and the others spring the trap. Meanwhile, I shall dispatch Umbra after Primal, his new flight mode combined with his camouflage and cyber venom should enable him to catch my old friend off guard even in the air, yyyyeessssss. Megatron out."

Megatron then picked out an opening in the mountainside for his hiding place, large enough to accommodate him but small enough to remain inconspicuous while he spied on the mountain pass for signs of maximal activity, opening up another comm link to the rest of his troops and instructed "Deathroll, Inferno, Waspinator, and Terrorsaur, meet me in the mountain pass as instructed, on the double, but avoid the southeast, the maximals are traveling in that direction and I don't wish to give away our intentions until we are at full strength, nooooo. Once you are here, find a suitable hiding spot and wait for my signal to attack. Umbra, you however shall deal with Primal, he's taken to the air in search of you and the others, camouflage yourself appropriately and take him out before he finds us or can warn the others. You have your orders, now go!"

"Your will be done, Royalty! For the glory of the...Ack!" Inferno began to say before Terrorsaur clamped his claws over his snaggletoothed jaws and hissed as quietly as he could "Shut it dunderhead! Primal's up here somewhere, don't give us away before we even reach the mountain pass!"

Inferno glared angrily at Terrorsaur, surely the arrogant flyer never would have dared to treat him as such back when he was second in com...But no, no no no no! He was a soldier, he was happy with whatever rank the Royalty deemed best for him, but that didn't mean he still couldn't shove Terrorsaur away roughly for his impudence at least.

"Looks like your first test flight is gonna be one to remember Umbra, good luck, you're gonna need it" Terrorsaur told the octopus as he and the others sped ahead as quickly and quietly as possible, half teasing flying cephalopod yet also half serious considering his own personal experience in engaging Primal in aerial combat...Never an easy task unless you had any kind of edge working in your favor, whether it be by surprise or a temporary power boost.

Meanwhile, deep beneath the ground Deathroll received Megatron's orders as well, the transmetal gator pushing himself as hard and fast as he could to ensure he'd reach the ambush in time, hopefully before the others, he was Subcommander after all, it wouldn't do for him to be the last to arrive at the trap site.

"I must set a good example for the rest of the crew, or at the very least make it known how its supposed to be done" Deathroll told himself as he burrowed onwards to his lord's location.

Terrorsaur wrote:"I'd check my chassis for bugs and explosives as soon as possible if I were you Umbra"

Inferno wrote:"Regardless, the Royalty will be pleased to learn of Umbra's new flight mode, the Colony's air force grows even stronger this day!" "But yes, spiders are never to be trusted, by decree of the Royalty himself!"

Umbra gave a nod I'll be sure to do that when we return to base. he told the others, though he had watched the spider during the entire operation, an additional check wasn't a bad idea.
Megatron wrote: "Deathroll, Inferno, Waspinator, and Terrorsaur, meet me in the mountain pass as instructed, on the double, but avoid the southeast, the maximals are traveling in that direction and I don't wish to give away our intentions until we are at full strength, nooooo. Once you are here, find a suitable hiding spot and wait for my signal to attack. Umbra, you however shall deal with Primal, he's taken to the air in search of you and the others, camouflage yourself appropriately and take him out before he finds us or can warn the others. You have your orders, now go!"

Sneak up and disable a flier in mid air with a cybervenom blade? Other then perhaps Nemesis, Umbra couldn't even think of anyone suited for that role. He'd just have to try to the best of his abilities..
Inferno wrote:"Your will be done, Royalty! For the glory of the...Ack!"
Terrorsaur wrote:"Shut it dunderhead! Primal's up here somewhere, don't give us away before we even reach the mountain pass!""Looks like your first test flight is gonna be one to remember Umbra, good luck, you're gonna need it"

Umbra gave a nod towards Terrorsaur No kidding, thanks.

Waspinator flew along following the others.

Umbra on the other hand looked in the southeast direction, already starting to strategize a plan of attack. With the snow, it would provide him with cover and reduce Primal's own visibility. Activating his camouflage, he took on a mixed swirl and splotch pattern of whites and greys to break up his silhouette. His sonar visor then slide down over his optics. Cutting his thrusters, he let out a ping in the south east direction, which thankfully Megatron told him a direction to look in. While the snow partially appeared on the echolocation scan, Primal's own shape sort of also be detected on the return echo and the jetwash of Primal's method of flight.Mostly it just made Primal stand out as a loud noise in the distance.

With this rough estimation of Primal's location, Umbra slid up his visor and activated his thrusters and turned back, making a long banking spiral up through the clouds. Theoretically with his method of flight, he could reach above cloud cover, but after that the air would be too thin to support his body. Umbra had no clue on Optimus's own flight capabilities, though he had seen Optimus fly quickly and hover. All he could assume was it probably wasn't very fuel efficient and he had never seen Optimus use projectile attacks with it, so his transmetal mode probably only had maces he would use, as well as brute strength for attacks.

Hiding in the clouds, Umbra once again turned his thrusters off, the noise of his engines being too loud for his sonar visor to work properly the Ninja assumed. This didn't make things easier with his plan, as he couldn't see a thing inside the cloud cover.. but it was unlikely anyone else could see him either. He slid down his visor, setting it to a passive listening setting as he glided hidden in the clouds. Observing the noise generated from the fliers using jet propulsion in the area, the only one he couldn't detect was Nemesis. But that didn't surprise him, she had way more experience moving stealthy in the sky.

Sliding his visor up and down periodically, Umbra would pulse his thrust to raise his altitude to stay in the cloud cover. Making his way towards Optimus's direction,he begun searching for the light emitted from the thrust of his engines. When the ninja could see that, then he would begin his strike..

"You have me bound and you are taking me to prison.. yet you are willing to discuss showing me compassion and forgiveness? What's wrong with this picture..,"
See? Zodiac wants to die. He'd probably rather die than be cooped up in your brig, suffocated with flowers, rainbows, and smiling, singing-show-tunes suns. All of your Maximals' kindness will torture him and inevitably kill him.

You're being dramatic, Optimus told himself. There's nothing wrong with this picture. It's the right thing to do. We're not going to kill him. Now be quiet. We need to concentrate on our surroundings.

By all means, 'concentrate'. I'm not stopping you.
"True, but without his nanos, he won't be able to shapeshift or devour anyone." "Despite the risk, you completed what you set out to do." "No, you have a right to be angry with me. I abandoned you to fight a battle you couldn't yet fight alone. But I'm here now, Optimus. If you let me." "I know you do, but I believe it might be wise to give yourself time. Rest." "I'm fine." That's all she wanted to say. She didn't want to say anything more. Especially with Predacons near by and... others like Ironclaw. "I will gladly tell you why and how I was able to do that, but I only wish to discuss it with you only. Unless you wish otherwise."
Whitegrazer's words resonated with Primal. Oh, how he wished he could just rest for months, but it would never be granted to him. And she said she was fine but he wasn't entirely convinced. He was eager to learn about how she did that to the missiles, but there was probably more personal history behind the ability than he had originally thought. It may very well had been something she had suppressed for a very long time due to something happened to her in her past. In any case, yes, they had finally put a damper on the renegade's killing spree and eerily accurate impersonations, but there had already been so many lives lost. Lives that he could never have saved as much as he wished he could have, especially Nexus Prime's. Instead, it was the worst of his fears that he had never even imagined until Zodiac told him how he did it. What were Nexus's last thoughts? What was he feeling before his spark was snuffed out? Did he believe that it was really Optimus who killed him, out of some kind of resentment for lying to him or getting him involved in those experiments? Or would he have suspected it was Zodiac since Nexus was probably the most knowledgeable about the shapeshifter's abilities? All these questions that would be forever unanswered... Optimus disliked this feeling to never have closure, to never get to say good-bye to one of the most influential bots he ever known in his young adult life. He felt empty and alone. He wasn't entirely isolated, though. He had Whitegrazer, and the smile she gave him before he took off to the sky lingered in his mind. He smiled at it, at her.

I thought you didn't want any distractions, the voice interrupted.

Primus, can I ever have my mind to myself anymore?! Back off! I need Whitegrazer, Primal yelled at it.

You don't need her. That feeling of necessity has long since passed. She abandoned you when you needed her most, just like Nexus did. Are we going to have abandonment issues?

Shut up! he screamed inside, and suddenly the only thing he heard was the wind around him. Instinct made Optimus look around, his pink optics piercing through the snow and clouds in search of any Predacons. He couldn't see anyone other than skewed figures of his Maximals below as he cruised along on his hoverboard but he felt as though he wasn't alone up there. Well, besides the hideous voice in his head, his own consciousness.
"You call yourself a man? Heh.
"No... I don't think I have ever said that," he said to Blackarachnia with a face of immaturity.
Come on, horsey, we...ladies have to make sure the path is clear for our gentlemen."
The smallest Maximal of the group rolled his optics at the Predacon she-spider as he continued walking behind their prisoner and she and Whitegrazer hurried on ahead, talking to low for him to understand what they were saying. Spiders spin their webs, he thought, even though she had pulled him out of the volcano.
"Megatron hit him a bit too hard over the head, didn't he?"
"You must know," Rattrap said accusingly, gently jabbing the barrel of his gun into Zodiac's back a couple times, as high as he could comfortably reach. "You were there, pretendin' ta be the one person who meant everythin' to him, and watchin' Megatron rip him apart, probably even laughin' while he did it." The last jab was a bit harder into his lower back, emphasizing his hatred for the former shapeshifter and what he had done. "If it were up ta me, I'd hand ya over ta Megatron and watch 'im unravel you piece by piece. You don't have the guts ta admit it but dat crazy ape is yer best bet for survival now."
"We are being followed."
"Correction: YOU are bein' followed," the rodent bluntly pointed out for him as he glanced around. But there wasn't much in his line of sight that he could see. The snowfall was not as heavy anymore but the wind was still blowing. There were drifts a few feet high surrounding them, tiny snowballs rolling off of them as they collected more of the frozen precipitation and grew in size while the mountain shook. Looking upward, he could barely make out Optimus who was flying just below the cloud ceiling.

"Everybody be on alert. The Preds are followin' us," he sent out via his comm. link, heeding Zodiac's warning.

"Copy that, Rattrap," Primal returned, remaining vigilant high above them. "Be aware of their new digger as well. He might try to catch you by surprise from underneath your feet."

Good point, the rodent thought, wondering who that new Pred was and where Megatron had found him.
They said it wasn't too good over there lad.. To be honest, I'm wondering if we'd be better off chuckin' him in the volcano.. Can't say I'd lose any sleep over doin' that.
"Yer preachin' to the choir, buddy," Rattrap told the beetle. "We'll get through dis, though. If we make it outta here alive... Whoa," he told Zodiac, as if he was a horse, telling him to stop.

"What's the hold up, 'Grazer?" he called to her over his comm. link, noticing her stop dead in her tracks.

Grabbing both clubs from his back, Optimus lifted up into the clouds, disappearing from everyone's sight below. And then he simply hovered there in the silence, listening and surveying with his eyes although he couldn't see much. But if anyone was following him, he assumed it would be Megatron, Inferno, Terrorsaur or Waspinator, who were all - for the most part - loud fliers. Not that he was stealthy with his hoverboard, but remaining almost motionless kept him thrust quieter as he tried to listen, hoping to spot the enemy before they spotted him.

-----
Yeah, the machine was done in by Ironclaw.
That was surprising, although he doubted the badger knew that he was also saving their base. Rhinox was certain he was simply focused on stopping Zodiac, and killing the machine from succeeding in its destruction was just a casualty of their battle. After witnessing how he was so willing to take a life as he did so with Dirge, Ironclaw had pretty much made himself an outcast, for that was not the way these Maximals did things.
Zodiac is cuffed and we're walking back to base, that virus worked.
The engineer almost gasped in relief at that. That was huge! He was so proud of Aurora. After all that she had been through, she still proved to be such a valuable asset to the team, more than she probably knew.
Try to get a cell ready fer im' if you can, but be careful round the armory and hanger..if the energon stored there hasn't gone off yet, there's still a possibility it might.
"Will do,"
"Aurora, will you see to the brig? I'll take care of energon and make sure it's secure. Thank you, Landslide," Rhinox confirmed with him. Activating the shields when the Fuzor was clear of them outside, he exited the command center and made his way to the armory. He assumed most of the energon and other valuable objects were unharmed considering the great Aurora had done by strapping down as much as she could, but Landslide's precaution made a valid point and it wouldn't hurt to make sure things were secure. He kept the transmission open in case there anymore developments on either end.
"Well, that's just prime!"

(Okay DS. Have fun with the party! )

As Umbra got closer, he detected Optimus's sudden movement into the clouds. He raised an optic ridge under his visor. He then noticed Optimus's rear thruster turning off, which was the main source of the noise his hoverboard made, his duct fans being much quieter. What is he doing? He can't of detected me.. could he? Umbra thought to himself, his tentacles altering their shape and coiling in to slow his glide, turning in the air as he attempted to get along the left side, Optimus's blindspot. Drawing his poison short sword, he slowly and quietly came towards Optimus. He only had one shot at this..

As he came into the distance his visor slid up and his tentacles extended out grabbing onto Optimus's shoulders, back, and maces. The extra limbs pulling the Ninja along swiftly at Optimus, attempting to wrap his legs around Optimus's torso and cup a hand over Optimus's face, his blade held ready to make a downward stab. Normally Umbra would of preferred a Backstab, but he already knew from his experience that probably wouldn't of been easy. Optimus's back accessory would act like extra armor, the neck, collar, or stomach would make a swift and effective strike to knock him out.

Landslide quietly walked along, sniffing the air as he looked around, to see if the Predacons were up wind, but no such luck. The wind was blowing around from multiple directions. When they came to a stop he raised his rifle, using his shield arm to rest part of the gun on, perhaps to assist in his aim, keeping it pointed towards Zodiac incase he did anything. Even without his nanomachines, Landslide wasn't about to trust him. He'd already taken over sentinel before, and even constructed a room in the ceiling of the hanger without anyone's knowledge. It didn't seem impossible for him to have a few more tricks up his sleeve.
