Rampage In Love?

Okay, I'm sure this has probably been discussed in the past but I was introducing my nephew to Beast Wars (made him a Depth Charge fan just like his auntie!) I was watching the second season with him and we were watching the episode with Transmutate, he says, "Is the crab robot in love with the skinny thing that screams?" I was like, "Okay! So I wasn't the only one who thought that!"

....So did anyone else think this as well? Or were we the only ones?

It's been so long since I've seen that episode. I kind of avoid it, but I do kind of remember thinking that too.

But I honestly thought you were going to mention the part where Depth Charge says "beast mode", but he transforms into robot mode......

I noticed he said, "Maximize!" when he was going into beast mode lol But Rampage n love always made me think of one of those crazy killers who kill and bring 'trophies' to her (or him, or it) But one thing online I never agreed with was the Depth Charge/Rampage yaoi fanfictions x_x

I was so sure that Transmutate was female until my mother mentioned it looked more male when she watched it.

Transmutate is indeed a female according to the profile. And yes, I too noticed how Rampage appeared to genuinely care about her with an affection not seen from him any time before or after this episode. I'm not sure if I would call it being 'in love' but he certainly felt a sort of connection with this female given they were both so different and outcasts in a way.

Oh yeah!!! That's what it was!! I mixed it up. But yeah that's the part I'm talking about.

I agree...maybe not "in love", but there definitely was some sort of chemistry between them.

It's been a while since I saw the episode, but I remember it being one of the ones I did not like. It kind of didn't fit with anything else that happened. It was really.....random and creepy. And it had absolutely no significance to the over all story line whatsoever. It was kind of like Harry Potter #5. I got to the end of Harry Potter #5 and said: "WHY DID I JUST READ THIS?! THIS WAS SUCH A WASTE OF TIME!!!!" Seriously, there was one plot significant thing that happened in that book and it happened in the last chapter and took one sentence to tell. I kind of felt like that after this episode too. I didn't feel like anything was achieved or any progress was made. The only thing we learned was that Rampage has a soft spot for freaks.

Aww Rampage in love No such thing lol I always found him as a creature of destruction, simple as that! While re-watching that episode I think he could tolerate Transmutate, and like he said "We are two of a kind, you and I." It's true, in a sense they were. Rampage was known as "monster" for being different and Transmutate more as a "freak" for the way it looked, and unable to transform.

It's so odd, because with my imagination, and with the way I described X in my writing is completely different. Seeing a visual, a toy of "Protoform X" the way he is, I always thought of him way bigger, and scarier looking. But that's the joy of imagination. That's also why I don't think he is capable of knowing love, real love, not just the love for killing. I think Hasbro, and the creators of Beast Wars, at least to me; did a very good job imprinting in my mind that Rampage couldn't have a "crush" or anything of that sort to any type of creature. Was he trying to just build an alliance with Transmutate and people mistake that as him "flirting" or attractive to it? I believe he could just be attracted to it because of how different it was.
