Snake Beast Mode: Possible or Impossible?

I got to thinking recently about transformer beast modes and wondered...How would a Snake transformer's transformation work out? I realize there have been snake beast wars characters in the toylines and in Beast Wars Neo, but upon closer examination the robot mode seemed so unlikely compared to the beast mode, i.e. how did a humanoid robot fit inside a thin, serpentine body?

Is it possible for a Maximal or Predacon to really have a snake beast mode and realistically conceal its robot form within its snake shell? or is it not physically possible?
