Who is more honorable? Dinobot or Silverbolt?

Of course, as you've probably guessed, I am referring to the original Dinobot, not his clone. XD

Anyway, I thought this could be intriguing, although I have no idea if this has been done before, since I'm new here.

So yeah, who do you feel is more honorable, Dinobot or Silverbolt? And please explain your reasons for your choice

Honestly I'm not sure yet who I want to choose. I want to hear other people's opinions first before I decide, so I will simply say what I think about both characters in general.

Dinobot is pretty awesome. His sense of honor means that he won't stab you in the back or fight dirty. He will make sure you have a weapon so that you are on equal footing with him before he would even attack you. And he fights fair, believing that cheating or taking advantage of a blunder would not be honorable. And unlike other Predacons, he feels compassion toward others, even if he would not admit it.

However... he is out for himself pretty much, in some ways. If he believes in his spark that there is something he has to do, it could possibly lead to betrayal. But... I think he always makes the right decision in the end, even if he makes mistakes.

Now, moving onto Silverbolt, well... he's definitely a bit different. Corny speech aside, he's definitely a good bot and quite loyal to the good cause, although I think in some cases his sense of honor is a definite handicap. He refuses to shoot at BlackArachnia simply because she's female. I suppose that helped him win her over in the end, but in some ways that is just plain foolhardy.

I guess I'm just saying... I think Silverbolt's honor lacks in the common-sense department in some cases. Then again, he seems like a hopeless romantic in some cases. XD Though not entirely hopeless...

Dinobot hands down is more honorable then Silverbolt, the fuzor is just really annoying, and his one liners stick not to mention 'Bolts an compelte idiot some times. Sorry to all the Silverbolt fans but it had to be said.

Dinobot but but yeah they both have their honor. Dinobot's is similar to a saumrai and siverbolt's is like the knights from the middle ages. That's why Bolt won't strike a woman and Dinobot doesn't have any qualms about doing so.

I'm only going to refer to the Beast Wars storyline here and not Beast Machines.

I picked Silverbolt: he sticks to his convictions and never breaks away from it. He believes it's wrong to strike a female and he stuck with it when Blackarachnia attacked him without hesitation. He fought for Transmutate's life despite both Maximals and Predacons opting to kill it. He also spoke out against Tarantulas' actions of betrayal against a teammate. The only dishonorable thing he's done was steal Maximal utilities for Blackarachnia's flying pod.

Dinobot also goes by honor, but it only seems to stick with him in combat. He fights straight, he doesn't like to run like a coward, etc. However, we're talking about the guy who's always trying to take command. Dinobot switched sides how many times now just to obtain glory? Everyone likes to pick on Silverbolt because of his quirks and naive behavior, but at least he's consistent. I see people throwing out comments on him being lame, stupid, etc. and Dinobot being brave and an awesome warrior. That has NOTHING to do with a person's honor. That's straight up fanboyism right there, picking a character that you love to cheer on or disregarding the other since he annoys you. Sometimes people need to learn how to think objectively.

Hmmm you definitely make an interesting case, Alak. It is true that Silverbolt is consistent in his beliefs and actions, never swaying.

Although in some cases, I still think Dinobot retains his charm, simply because it seems like he always makes the right choice in the end. However, this does make him less than trustworthy, while Silverbolt could probably be counted on more.

Although both bots have definitely done something behind everyone's backs for what they thought was right, even if Silverbolt's was only stealing some parts to give to BlackArachnia.

I forgot where I heard this from but I read something that said Dinobot is uncomfortable with women and that's why he is never near Airrazor. But if a female chooses to fight him, he won't hesitate to.

I can't choose. Both Dinobot and Silverbolt are honorable but in different ways.

Being a charming warrior who saves the day doesn't make you an honorable one. I'll go right ahead and say that the original Dinobot was a much better fighter than Silverbolt and definitely was a bigger factor in gaining an upper hand against the Predacons. However, this doesn't mean that he's a more honorable figure based on these facts.

He tried to manipulate the Maximals, doesn't care much for his teammate's lives (most of the time), sided with Megatron again when he thought the Predacons would win, hid the golden disks from the Maximals, and attacked Tigatron after the latter temporarily quit the Beast Wars. I'm pretty confident the list is longer, but that's just an idea of how "honorable" Dinobot really is off the field.

True, there is no denying any of those points. Although in some ways, I wonder if his final battle--the one where he died--could at least be considered honorable?

Of course it was his dream to die in glory and battle, so... I guess maybe this could be viewed as him simply getting his ultimate wish. But still, all things considered, he didn't really gain much in that final battle except the chance to undo a mistake. He was protecting the humans, and he was protecting the future as it was meant to be.

He could have simply committed suicide, like he had thought about doing alone in his room at the beginning of the episode. Or he could have just stayed at the base until everyone had a decent plan, but instead he chose to go out and correct his error.

Oh of course, I completely agree that his last stand was honorable. Not only did he stand up to the entire Predacon force, but he chose to save the human race (something that's out-of-character for him). I've always said that Dinobot's honor carries him through battle ever since the first episode. However, we can't just remain in awe of what he did in Code of Honor (or any other episode that featured his awesomeness in combat). We need to look at something called the "big picture", especially since the topic is about honor: an attribute that resides in a character even in downtime.

I think his honor has more to do with fighting than other stuff. Remember when he was contimplating suicide? He felt he dishonored himself and was going to end it. That's what the samurai do when they feel they dishonored their warrior code.

Yes, I've heard about that issue with females. Poor guy. He should join a support group.

Obviously, I'm not making myself understood here.

Dinobot. Died. With. Honor.

It seems that everyone loves to point to that episode. However, that doesn't excuse us from disregarding the bigger picture.

"Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest...is silence..."

Did he die a hero? Yes. Did he die with honor? Yes. Does his death erase the fact that Dinobot did less-than-honorable things off the battlefield? No. That's why my vote easily goes to Silverbolt since his character is consistent whether he's in downtime or engaged in combat. Yeah, Silverbolt punched out Cheetor and gave technology to Blackarachnia. By no means is he a perfect character. However, if we were to make a list comparing Dinobot and Silverbolt, you'll find that the latter doesn't flip-flop as much and he definitely exhibits his honor more frequently in all situations.

Don't worry, if we were discussing which one's the "cooler" character I'll hand you Dinobot anyday. Oh, and I'd like to go on record saying that Optimus Primal is the most honorable character in the entire series

when it comes down to Dinobot and Silverbolt, i would choose Dinobot every time. Silverbolt fell in love the she-spider who had helpped kill Dinobot in code of hero. Dinobot is a true hero Silverbolt is second and will always will be to me.
