The main problem with the king crab thing is that he looks absolutely nothing like one. I think the reasoning is 'king crabs are big'.
He crashed in a mangrove swamp. Dry at the time of Bad Spark, but still a coastal, saltwater thing.
Which probably means he's one of these, but nobody's going to go for something with as unsexy a name as 'mud crab'. And, hey, they're cannibals.
Picture.
Going by glaciation and the development of the protohumans, Beast Wars seems to take place in the early Pleistocene ( about two million years ago. ) Just about every modern animal is around by then, plus a lot of older ones like sabertooth cats.

Hey...I actually think that crab is kinda cute. I've seen them before, and ya the coloring for Rampage is different, but who knows, his original coloring could have had red, which altered his outer beast mode shell.
Also...cannibal crabs? Awesome!

yeah but earth isn't even that old...... O_o pardon my creationism. XD
Hey, Wayward that mud crab picture you showed looks a lot closer to his beast mode than a king crab. That's probably what he really is.

I put about as much stock in carbon dating as I do in methane powered cars.
No offense but Carbon dating isn't exactly accurate no matter what the media tells you. But that's besides the point here. we're talking about rampage not billions of fictional years.
But let's all remember that Beast wars is a work of fiction no matter what era it was put in and if we believe THAT is how is was then we'll have to believe that ALIENS from another dimension seeded the planet.
Okay.... dropping that subject before fights break out. NO FIGHTING!
Crabs. We were talking about crabs.

Yeah, but the sabretooth cat from Bad Spark and that the protohumans look like homo erectus ( okay, they don't look like much in particular, but that seems to be the closest type given that they're early tool-users and live in groups ) puts it at least over a million years ago. The ice age stuff is a subjective thing, just so Tigatron can have his snow without having to walk quite so far.according to the beast wars idw comics the end of series 3 is 70,000 years ago
Also, I was thrilled to discover that tigers - or at least something very like tigers - did indeed use to live in Africa. It means I can stop fussing about Snowstalker and the orange tiger from Law of the Jungle being there.

Now someone make a fanchara of this thing.

[ETA:] Can I still talk epochs to someone who wants to talk it, or is that a big no over here?

I also like that 'K-9' turns into a German Shepherd, despite that breed wasnt developed a long time after either 2 million years or 70,000Wayward wrote:Yeah, but the sabretooth cat from Bad Spark and that the protohumans look like homo erectus ( okay, they don't look like much in particular, but that seems to be the closest type given that they're early tool-users and live in groups ) puts it at least over a million years ago. Possibly not absolutely modern cheetahs, but close enough. Now, whether they wandered back to Africa in time is the next question. )
Now someone make a fanchara of this thing.Enormous scary Pleistocene giraffe!

FYI People
I don't believe in Creationism, I believe that we all evolved over time, but I do like that artemis said something like 'we are talking about Rampage, not a bunch of fictional years' despite Rampage himself being fictional

Ha. Well, that one I can't even begin to fudge up an explanation for. Even Silverbolt you can claim is an Ethiopian wolf or something.I also like that 'K-9' turns into a German Shepherd, despite that breed wasnt developed a long time after either 2 million years or 70,000

Okay, there was this time traveller, and he had a dog ...
K-9 liked German shepards so much that he pre-programmed his pod ...

Aesir, I am perfectly aware that Rampage is fictional. I meant keep on topic.
and you'd better not be making fun of me. I posted that late last night so there.

*looms* You WERE making fun of me weren't you?! *gets toe snapped by mud crab* YEOW! You win this round, Aesir, but next time we meet you won't have a mud crab to protect you and I'll remember to wear my army boots.
You know... Mud crab works.. since they're canibals and Rampage is like one of those too. actually he's more like Hannible lector. Guy scares me. O_o
