The last successful fan fiction awards attempt was in 2005.Sapphire wrote:As for the Site, it continues on in much the same vain as it's done the past few years. There's fics, art, competitions and so forth, although if anyone has the enthusiasm (like Tor has demonstrated!) to take on the work load of restarting any of Bwint's former glories, such as its Fan Fiction/Art Awards, they should email me (sapphire@bwint.net) and put forth a proposal.
So this leaves us with 2006 through now- a ton of fiction and potential.
These were attempted in 2006, but what was lacking then was enthusiasm. People were not willing to to nominate fiction for hardly anything, and in the end it died out.
So- do we wish to try this? The poll is up to ask that question. Honestly, don't feel bad if the answer is no.
As for the technique of this thing- all fan fictions have been marked with the date of their upload by Sapphire since 2006. So essentially, if you look in the fan fiction section of Bwint, and click on a fiction, and there is a date in the top left hand corner- you're good to go for nominating it. If no date is present, well then I guess not.
Also, ought we include console fictions that never made it up to the official fan fiction part of the site? Just a question...
The Nomination categories are:
Best Romance
Best Tear-Jerker
Most Loved Character
Most Creative Plot Idea
Best BW Poem
Most Frightening
Best Battle Sequence
Silliest and Sweetest
Most Like a BW Episode
Best Series
Most Thought Provoking
Funniest Comedy
Most Gripping Suspense Thriller
Best co-written fic
Best Overall Fan Fic
There are 15 categories for nomination, so I'm figuring we should at least get 15 "yes's" for this to even be considered doable.
Granted there are some members who don't visit the forums, and when (if, that is) they see a nomination section in a new update to bwint, they would likely join too, but I still think 15 should be our target number.
And of course, those 15 only nominating one fiction for one category probably won't be very effective either. But that's the unofficial target.
