Spider Mates
Tarantulas gave a huge sigh and glowered at the glowing screen in front of him. It had been a long rough day, his shoulder was still healing, though thanks to the many advantages of being a transmetal it was only very stiff at this point.
Oh when he got his hands on Megatron…
“Heheheh.” Tarantulas’ snicker turned into a deeper chuckle that made his beast mode legs bounce on his back as he had a better idea; instead of pumping Megatron full of Cybervenom. Far better. He’d simply steal the crab’s spark box and sick the immortal on their so-called leader. Yes, that was a very good idea!
“….Hmmmm.” the transmetal tarantula leaned back in his seat, tapping a claw on his chin, Not really seeing the text that was scrolling down the screen he was staring at now. “That isn’t such a bad idea really…the question is how.”
As he propped his feet up to ponder this new, possibly plausible plan he heard the tell-tale sound of a spider coming down from somewhere above on a web line thanks to his beast mode. Then the all too obvious sound of said spider transforming into a robot. There was only two other spiders he knew of in the beast wars, and only one of those two knew where his true lair was, so he wasn’t surprised when two slender gray and silver arms wrapped around his neck from behind.
Hmmm, she still must be hanging into her web line to reach that far. Hah, I taught her well. Waitanano...
“You,” Tarantulas said tuning to look up at the nearly upside-down femme, “Were almost seen by the widow and her fuzor.” He pointed up at the other spider who smiled back.
“Oh, they didn’t see me.” The female jumping spider said waving a four-finger hand in dismissal, the guardlets on her for-arms had the classic pinchers, that both Tarantulas and Blackarachnia had and still have, curved back. They could snap up and flip forward into place if she wished.
Tarantulas silently congratulated himself on his newest creation. She was regrettably a bit on the small side, only coming up to her predecessor’s shoulder if that at all. But her small size and lean frame belied one of her beast modes trade mark traits: being able to jump twenty times her height in any direction at a moments notice, she could jump farther if she wanted to thanks to being a robot too. (But the farther one goes the harder it is to land where one wants to go.) She was primarily gray in color with silver and black highlights, intelligent green optics stared back at him and the black and white beast mode legs on her upper arms fanned out before curling backwards.
Slag, he shouldn’t be looking her over approvingly when he was supposed to be scolding her! He must be out of or something because he just glared, hrumfed and turned back to not looking at the computer screens.
Gadget tilted her head and let go of Tarantulas’ chair to sway back and forth for a minute before she stared at the cave wall behind the computer. Tarantulas blinked as the jumping spider sailed over his head to attached her self to the cave wall and peer at what he was poking at.
“Hyper arachnid…” he muttered.
“Boring old tarantula.” Gadget shot back and smiled inwardly as Tarantulas flinched in surprise, his legs curling up behind him.
“Old? Old?! I’ll show you old!” Tarantulas stood and made a grab at the other spider but it was futile, she simply launched herself up and out of the way giggling. Oh he was going to get her too for that...
“Gotta be faster then that!”
“Get back here!”
“HAH!”
The two played ‘Chase-The-Spider’ around Tarantulas’ lair until the transmetal, sides heaving and gasping, completely not used to this kind of physical exertion, flopped rather ungracefully into her chair glaring at the ceiling where the very cheerful jumper was.
“I hate you, you over-energetic…..arachnid!”
“That was lame you know.”
“Feh. Wait ‘til I get my breath female.”
“Ooohhhh…I’m shivering on all eight legs.”
“Good.” Tarantulas turned his back and started typing, bringing up the first project to grab his attention. A few minutes later, when Gadget got bored of being ignored like this, Tarantulas heard the sound that was unique to only Cybertronains, the sound of a transformation. A moment later a weight settled on his shoulders and the beast mode parts on his back, and two slim arms wrapped around his neck.
“You’re no fun any more.” The smaller spider bot complained.
Tarantulas got a strange look on his face before giving his creation a flat look. She grinned impishly back. The tarantula sighed in defeat before reaching over his shoulder and grabbing a fist full of black and white spider legs. Grinning as best as his faceplate would allow him too, he hard a yelp behind his head and Tarantulas hauled the other spider in front of him.
Gadget looked up at a face that would have given any man, and most mechs too, nightmares for weeks. The silver and gray Predicon’s optics flashed and her own expression darkened.
“Be careful Tarantulas…” she warned, a fang poking out of her smile.
“Oh? And why should I be?” Tarantulas leaned forward, his visor glowing in a way that said something bad might soon happen.
“Because,” Now all four fangs were showing, “Black Widows aren’t the only kind of spiders to eat their mates…”
Oh slag.
Well, you couldn’t say this wasn’t going to be interesting…
Queen’s notes: I don’t own Tarantulas! Gadget is an ooold charter of mine and she’s finally got her début! This was done for Sapphire’s third BWint Fan Fiction Challenge! It was a romance challenge, but I think we all know that Tarantulas isn’t romantic in any shape or form….
