Imaginary

By: Sinead

Author’s Note: Here I go again! And there’s still more to come! I hope that you like this installment in the Loving to Learn, Learning to Love series, and I hope that you like it! Again, Evanescence owns themselves, and the Beast Warriors are owned by Hasbro and Mainframe . . . but I WILL get Dinobot!!!

I linger in the doorway
Of alarm clock screaming monsters calling my name

Sinead stared into the mirror. Beyond her own image, was a darkness . . . it was night there, too. They had decided to keep their visits to the night, so that she wouldn’t be noticed as much. Rhinox, she knew, would notice her, whatever happened, as he had been monitoring the anomaly. But he had never intruded in upon her space, her time with Dinobot, oddly enough.

Let me stay

Where the wind will whisper to me
Where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story

The Maximal entered the room, and looked immediately to the mirror, shutting the door. Sinead ran through, and embraced his chest, the highest that she could reach upon him. He held be back softly, trying not to agitate his most recent wound. She immediately pulled away, and looked at his side, by one of his ribs, and saw the mark.

In my field of paper flowers
And candy clouds of lullaby

Dinobot moved so that she wouldn’t see it as easily. He didn’t want her to worry about the wound, or really ask about it. He knew that he would, though, but it was a matter of postponing those inevitable questions. “Don’t ask yet. How are you doing?”

Sinead glared at him, not answering, and moving quickly, shifting his arm, and looking at the wound. Dinobot allowed himself a small gasp at the pain, and then resorted to glaring at her hair, since he couldn’t see her face. “Dinobot, what happened?”

“Battle.”

I lie inside myself for hours
And watch my purple sky fly over me

“Duh, but who did this to you?” She poked beside the wound, seeing him straighten his shoulders more. “Did that hurt?”

“No, not at all,” he replied sardonically, “I’m only immortal.”

“I know it’s sealed over, but will it reopen? I mean, I know that I know jack about your physiology, but . . . Dinobot? Are you okay?”

Don't say I’m out of touch
With this rampant chaos - your reality

He sighed, and bowed his head, not replying. Sinead led him to his bed, and had him sit. There was a polite knock upon his door, and the two looked to each other. He indicated with a nod of his head, towards the closet. Instantly, she was out of sight, and nothing indicated that she had been there. “Enter.”

Rhinox came in, and closed the door after him. He leaned upon it casually, and said, “Well?”

“Don’t scare me like that, Rhinox.”

I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge
The nightmare I built my own world to escape

“You promised.”

With a wince, Dinobot stood, and opened the closet door a slight bit, then said, “You know that he knows. Out with you.”

Sinead peeked around Dinobot’s frame shyly, at the broader-built Rhinox, who stayed still, not daring to move, lest he scare her unintentionally. She blinked at him, then said, “Dinobot won’t say who gave him that wound. Mind enlightening me?”

Rhinox chuckled, and shook his head. “If you think that’s a rough-looking wound, you should have seen the other guy. It’s not that bad, and will heal fully within thirty-six megacycles. Other than that, though, don’t worry. And it was Quickstrike.”

Dinobot was glaring at Sinead, who was still mainly out of Rhinox’s sight. She looked up at him. They blinked at each other, and then she smiled. “You wouldn’t have told me. ’Sides . . . I can believe that you wasted Quickstrike. Isn’t he small?”

The ex-Predacon nodded, and then stepped back from her, allowing her to walk forward. Optimus’ voice wafted over to her, borne upon Rhinox’s comm-link. “Optimus to Rhinox. I need you up here as soon as you can get here. Something about this latest attack has me worried. Optimus out.”

Rhinox waved, and then left, careful not to let the door open any more than it had to, to let him through. Once it was closed, the soundproof seal active once again, Dinobot turned to Sinead. “It’s beginning to be late, and you have a habit of falling asleep here. Tonight, I can’t carry you back over.”

Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming
Cannot cease for the fear of silent nights

Sinead nodded slowly, and then looked up at his face again. It was barely concealing the pain she knew that he was experiencing. She smiled, and he drew the necklace that she had once worn out of his sub-space pocket. “I’ll remember.”

She smiled, and they embraced carefully, he not wanting to catch her with his talons, her not wanting to touch his slowly healing wound. He rested one hand upon her shoulder, and asked, “What is the date, over there?”

“April 12, 2003.”

“Hn. And when do you turn seventeen?”

“June fourth.”

“Good. Enough time to forget the date.”

Oh how I long for the deep sleep dreaming
The goddess of imaginary light

Chuckling, Sinead pinched his good side, and picked up the sword, then walked through, glancing back once, and smiling gently.
