Physical description: Robot mode

Stands 16 feet 2 inches ( Wing tips not included in measurement ). Flexible fin shields, composed of beast mode pectoral fins, hang from short beast modial spine extention on back, close to robot mode shoulders blades. Behind fin shields thick, powerful beast mode tail remains still at rest, positioned in a slight curve, ending in a spade-shaped, serrated-edged tail-blade, pointing upward at a lazy angle. Heavily armored chest gives way to rectangular shaped cannon port, also beast’s slightly opened mouth. Below upper torso emerged layered abdominal armor, stretching around the girth of his sides to connect with solid, yet flexible back-armor. Hip/pelvic armor is plain, sturdy, flexibility limited. Upper leg armor limited to front and sides of his leg. Thigh armor connects to triangular-shaped knee joint, which supports beast modial cephalic fins (That’s the scientific name for those horn-things). Fins immobile in robot mode, limited movement of these appendages in beast and flight modes. Below knee joint comes lower leg armor, also limited to front and side of leg. Armor composed of beast mode optic segment, locked open, pupil not visible.

Beast Mode.

Body is largely triangle-shaped, and flat enough to navigate shallow water. Head is an odd square-ish shape, made up of chrome plated, thick titanium armor to protect spark chamber, main nerve grid, and other such important systems. Optics are almost diamond-shaped, presenting a deep yellow/lime green color, and a bright yellow circular pupil. Triangular fins hold an extreme range of motion, and are composed of armor, thick muscle-cords and cables, and minor fluid lines. Small vertical dorsal fin towards back of body has no use, it is just there. Behind dorsal fin is the tail. Under tail, on either side of base of tail sit twin jet engines, silver capped tips, composed of robot mode arms with hands retracted. Belly armor is one flexible piece of titanium, ridges on either side to represent gills. Main ramora shaped missile launcher attached to base of tail, between engines.

Starhopper mode.

(See Beast, with minor adjustment to wing position, where they stand with one fin-tip pointed upwards, the other pointed to the front. )

Color Scheme: Mainly shades of blue and teal. Tops of fins are blue with accents of green and purple, undersides are a subtle blend of blue, green, and purple. Beast mode head/robot mode chest is a sandy-silver color, optic segment (in beast) silver plated. Mouth, belly and tail are also the same neutral color. In robot mode, head and most of face is sapphire blue, with a ridged streak of yellow on either side of his head, mouth-piece is yellow, optics are blood red.

Weapons list:

Robot mode: Twin-barreled missile launcher, secondary weapon is his rifle, which fires only one armor-piercing bullet at a time. Note: Does not need to be ratcheted but once every ten rounds. Chest mounted disk grenade launcher. These disks explode upon contact, and can badly damage any non-Transmetal / TM2, moderate damage to TM, and depending on the armor of the TM2, either severe, moderate, or light.* Main missile launcher = ditto. Tail detaches to become spear OR sword for close weapon combat.

* Ex., missiles against dragon Megatron = light damage. Missiles against Tigerhawk = light to moderate. Missiles against Optimal Optimus Primal = light to moderate.

Beast: Detachable main missile launcher -- camera controlled via mental commands, blade tipped tail, otherwise powerful fins for striking at his attackers.

Starhopper mode : (See Beast, without the fins for striking.)

Abilities: Defense -- Beast mode fins double as HIGHLY durable shields in robot mode. They can withstand the hardest hitting missiles, Rampage’s, and any metal sword put to them. However, like most metal, they do not defend against energon blades. Also, using them puts him in a strictly defensive position, making them ineffective if he is surrounded by opponents. Limited defense against missile barrages -- can only defend against the brunt of the volley, damage can and probably will result from a constant onslaught of powerful projectiles. Water breathing -- He can breathe underwater. Pressure -- Beast and robot modes operate underwater, and can withstand most ocean pressure without damage -- cannot go much deeper than the Marianas Trench, for then his armor will begin to dent and implode.

(I want to note that DC's jet engines function underwater in beast mode.)

History:

Depth Charge had been in charge of security at the time Protoform X leveled the Cybertronian establishment Colony Omicron, but, for one reason or another, X left the ‘guardian’ alive, as the sole survivor of the massacre. Depth Charge was one left out of the many built and raised on the colony, and the thought that he had failed in his duties to protect the city, which had resulted in the deaths of everyone he had ever cared about, haunted him. His grief was short-lived, and soon turned into cold resolution. The Maximal somehow acquired a starhopper (exactly how is unknown, whether it had been stolen or purchased), along with hundreds of credits worth of advanced tracking equipment, all the while diluting his purpose, giving it a new name. He now called his thirst for revenge a need for justice. Protoform X would pay.

It took the bygone security chief four stellar-cycles of relentless hunting before he finally managed to subdue the deranged Maximal experiment. However, despite what X had done, Depth Charge was still a Maximal and decided against killing the protoform outright, resolving to take the psychopath back to Cybertron for proper trial and sentencing. The security-bot was absolutely sure that the Maximal High Council would find X guilty of the mass-murders he had committed and would without a doubt sentence him to death.

Unfortunately, he was wrong.

Life’s screwed up that way.

Instead of sentencing X to death for his infractions they settled on sticking him in a protoform-state in a pod. That alone might have contained him, but, much to Depth Charge’s disbelief, they boarded the stasis pod on an exploration ship and gave order to the crew to eject X onto a barren world. And, what Depth Charge knew of the commander, Optimus Primal, the mission was BOUND to fail..

The Axalon left two days later.

Not about to risk another colony to that deranged freak, the Maximal-turned-hunter boarded his little Starhopper cruiser and followed.

Personality: Depth Charge is a rude, single-minded, tunnel-visioned individual. He cares for nothing and no one other than himself, and his only objective is to destroy Protoform X. He is willing to drop or ignore any orders given to him if Rampage (or TM2 Dinobot) is in the area.
