Sapphire, or Dinobot, but I was SO SLAGGING CLOSE ON THAT ONE!!! *pouts*
Hold
on
Hold on to yourself
For this is gonna hurt like hell
Rhinox did the finishing touches upon the spy camera, then left Rattrap’s messy room, managing to re-activate the security systems that his friend had set up. He smiled, as he passed the shorter bot on his way back.
Rattrap grinned, and said over his shoulder, not bothering to turn around, “Next time, Big Green, all ’ya hafta do is ask ta get into my room without gettin’ shocked.”
“I’d take those posters down, if I were you,” Rhinox replied, doing the same, “before Optimus sees them.”
Hold
on
Hold on to yourself
You
know that only time will tell
Rattrap snickered, and opened his door, stepping over the trigger without thinking, and closing the door after him. He sat in the center of his messy room, knowing where each and every object that he owned was. The holo-book? Under the desk. The extra posters? Under his bed. What about the hologram of Dinobot, in the small shrine he had set up in his friend’s honor?
On his completely clean desk.
He sighed, as he looked at it again. Rhinox was the only one who knew about it.
What
is it in me that refuses to believe
This isn’t easier than the real thing
Sapphire looked at her mirror upon impulse, away from her conversation. Something tugged within her, and she sighed, typing to her friends, her fellow authors, that she would talk to them later, when she could. The time difference always messed with their heads, but it was worth it, sometimes.
She looked to the mirror, after turning off her messenger service, and placed one hand upon the smooth glass. “Hello?”
Rattrap looked slowly from his mini-shrine, to the mirror. He saw the girl there, but looked away. He didn’t want to be disturbed at this time. Sometimes, he just needed to be by himself.
My
love
You know that you’re my best friend
You know I’d do anything for you
Sapphire saw him look away, then glared at him. She managed to cross over, and stood in front of Rattrap, arms crossed over her chest. He didn’t even look at her. Sapphire blinked, and then crouched by him, putting her hand upon his shoulder. “Hey, you okay?”
“Like ’ya couldn’t tell?”
“No need to be sarcastic.” She paused, then sat beside him, facing the desk, leaning against him. Rattrap blinked, and winced, knowing that she saw the small area he had cleared for the “dead” warrior. She chuckled lightly. “You wanna talk with that scale-face? I’m sure that Sinead’s still on. That shouldn’t be a problem.”
My
love
Let nothing come between us
My love for you is strong and true
Rattrap looked at her, and saw that she was already smiling up at him. She took his hand, and tried tugging him up. “C’mon, he’ll wanna talk with you, too! He’s been bugging me about you for the past week! You have no idea how annoying he can get!”
“Sistuh, believe me, I know.” He stood, causing Sapphire to almost stumble backwards, had he not caught her wrist gently, and helped her stand straight again. She smiled, and Rattrap found himself smiling back. “Well?”
“What, no hug? You treated me coldly enough.”
Am
I in heaven here or am I . . .
At the crossroads I am standing
Rattrap
merely blinked at her, and she grinned, pulling him through the mirror. She
signed on again, looking for Sinead. Soon enough, she found her online, and
typed in, HE’S BACK!!!
.
. .
Rattrap laughed at the lack of comment that had seemed imminent from the other end.
So
now you’re sleeping peaceful
I lie awake and pray
Sinead looked to her couch, where the young man was sleeping. His black hair was rumpled, and all over the place as he snored softly. She smiled, and pressed a button, saying softly, “He’s asleep, guys. Out cold. It’s about, what, ten in the morning here?”
Rattrap looked at the clock, then replied, “Can’t ’ya wake ’im up?”
The mic had been left on, on Sinead’s side, as they heard a crash, laugher, and curses from the speakers. A voice, definitely that of Dinobot’s, yet without the tones that only a Cybertronian could hold, spat out, “I was slagging warm, Vermin.”
That
you’ll be strong tomorrow and we'll
See another day and we will praise it
“Like I care? ’Ya’re supposed ta be dead.”
“Cheated. And Sapphire, why the Pit did you tell him, again? You never seemed to answer my question before.”
“I . . . uh . . . slipped.”
And
love the light that brings a smile
Across your face
“Mentally?”
“Dinobot, you behave!” Sinead’s distant voice said.
Rattrap snickered, then patted Sapphire’s shoulder, while she glared playfully at the screen. “I forced it outta ’er, Choppuhface.”
“Yeah, he did. But . . . you’ll never guess what’s on his desk.”
Oh
God if you’re out there won’t you hear me
I know that we’ve never talked before
Rattrap looked at her, optics wide and disbelieving that she would say anything about what was standing upon his desk. He didn’t think that she actually would, but . . .
“Do I want to know, human?”
“You are too, now, remember?” She grinned. “I’ll tell you, for a price.”
Oh
God the man I love is leaving
Won’t you take him when he comes to your door
Dinobot snickered, then replied, “I think that I shall pass. There are things that Sinead should have woken me up for–”
“Taped it,” Sinead’s voice replied. “Watching it, now, too, so . . .”
Rattrap looked at Sapphire, who smiled at him, turning the microphone off for a moment. “You know him. He wouldn’t press in. Plus, I have almost impossible prices. He wouldn’t agree to most of them.”
“Most?”
Am
I in heaven here or am I in hell
At the crossroads I am standing
“Sapphire? You there?”
“Yeah, Sinead.”
“Okay. We have to go. The beach is calling, and I promised D that I’d teach him how to swim in the ocean.”
“Primus save me, I’m going to die,” Dinobot’s now-human voice grumbled faintly.
So
now you’re sleeping peaceful
I lie awake and pray
They said their goodbyes for the while, and Rattrap shook his head. “So he really is okay?”
“Yeah. She takes good care of him.”
“Dat nick-name, though . . .”
“He doesn’t need a human name for a while. Her Mom knows about him, and she approves of him.”
“. . . approves?”
That
you’ll be strong tomorrow and we'll
See another day and we will praise it
Sapphire chuckled, blushed a bit, and replied, “Well, you talk to him again later about that.”
“Nuh-uh. You’re tellin’ me now.”
“You can’t make me!” she insisted. Rattrap reached over, and touched her side, resulting in a giggle. After five minutes though, Sapphire gasped out, “I’ll tell!!!”
And
love the light that brings a smile
Across your face . . .
He smiled, and she caught her breath, still giggling a bit. “You know that they like each other.”
“Yeah . . . ?”
“Well . . . she told me that they might, you know, when she’s older, get married. Her mom thought that he would make a good husband.”
“Dat’s all?!” Rattrap was laughing. He sat back, shaking his head. “I knew dat they would stay together, once I knew ’e was alive!”
Sapphire smiled at the still-laughing bot, wondering if he would ever figure out what she was feeling towards him. He seemed to be a bit thick-headed . . . but then . . . that was just Rattrap being Rattrap. He was who he was, and that was why Sapphire liked him.
Hold
on
He was looking back at her steadily. She didn’t notice that he had stopped laughing.
Hold
on to yourself
Quickly, before either of them could do anything, Rattrap kissed her cheek, then
ran through the mirror, leaving Sapphire touching her cheek lightly, and smiling
after him.
For this is gonna hurt like hell
Maybe he did know.
