Is the Fanfic Action-Adventure challenge still on? And if so, what's the actual deadline?

Yep, it is definitely still on. I made the deadline April, but so far no one has sent me anything (though I know of authors who say they are working on fics) so it is possible the deadline may be extended. But aim for the current deadline, as it just might work out I get a load of last-minute submissions like I did last time. More info here:

Mine's done!! #raises hand#
And I think it is on your USB thingy Sapph. Hmm.... I should check that out. If you get it off there let me know otherwise I'll resort it and send it.
Which reminds me. Sapph needs a good ol rant and now seems like as good a time as any. Everyone jump on the General section right now... well not RIGHT now, unless of course its tomorrow then..... #sigh# I'm doing it again aren't it. HA HA!! #puff of smoke#

Who are the active Betas at the moment? I remember reading something somewhere about certain people being out of touch....

Best betas to go for are Starath and Everblue. At the moment Starath's doing most of the beta-reading work, so Everblue might be a safer bet. You could also try Varyn. She's very quick and reliable.
Silver: As soon as I find where I put the little USB thing, I'll let you know. I'm sure I'll locate it soon. >_>

How does one become a beta reader exactly?

The beta readers were selected at a time when I was being snowed under with fan fiction and needed help. They need to have proven themselves as good writers, with excellent spelling and grammar and an eye for errors. Of the best writers we have at the site, those who offered to help were chosen. We've got plenty of Beta Readers at the moment, so we've no need for any more just yet.

i've just thought...im such an idiot...yeah, i think that a lot.
but i already written a fic that fits under the ategory of "action'...there are at least 3 fight sequences in it and a vaguely interesting plotline.
only problem is, it introduces a new character BUT there are two of mine already in there: Jag and Nightshaft...hm. thing is it was part of a mini series i was working on before i started REBIRTH...and i finished the THIRD installment first...o come on! im like that ok? and i had a few more ideas and a little more inspiration for that one...ahem...
all you need to know its not really a series as mch as me mucking around trying to make it seem like a series but in actuality is not..almost like random books published in the wrong order...there's nothing really important thats happened in the first two only the intro of those characters... (in fact one is in the console right now! the one i didnt finish...whoopsie)
is that ok? ill send it to a beta but iv checked it over at least 5 times...yyyyeah...ahem

I completely understand your thought process. There are always ideas which pop up at the beginning about things which are supposed to happen much later. Then you get to thinking about them and its all "Man! That would be sweet. Then I can get Rt to do this and Cheetor to do that." and before you know it the episode has written itself. I am forcing myself to write my fic in chronological order otherwise my scattered thoughts will lead to HUUUUUUGGGEEE discontinuity (worse than George Lucas HA!). Oh well. In time my masterpiece will be complete and then I'll think of another one and this whole circus will start again. I need sleepy time now... off to bed! Huzzah!
