Spambots and You (take two)

Whilst cleaning up after a particularly bad bunch of spamming, I got a little carried away and accidentally did away with the whole thread. Oops. :P

To prevent that happening again, I'm locking this thread. If there are any questions about spambots, PM or email me and I'll be happy to answer them.

The jist of the old thread:

To avoid looking like a spambot:

-Don't make any references to sex, porn, or similar things in your screename or profile. Similarly, don't have your profile info just, "I like guys/girls" or something similar.

-Don't have your homepage link go to a pharmacy, porn site, or similarly suspicious site.

-Screenames that are nothing but gibberish are suspicious. While not always indicatave of a spambot, it will increase your chances of deletion upon suspicion of being a spambot.

-Don't have the subject of your first post be something that really doesn't belong on a Transformers forum. You can complain about your perscriptions costing too much after you've made a proper introductory post indicating you're here because you have some interest in Beast Wars.

All unactivated accounts will be deleted one month after signing up. Activating your account is nothing more than clicking on the link emailed to you after registering. If you are having trouble activating your account, email me and I will help you. Please do not register again.

Lurkers are invited, but not required, to post here to show they're not a spambot. While activated accounts with no posts will not be deleted (unless they are a spambot), it helps weed out the real people from the particularly tricky spambots.

Because some spambots share the same email service providers, and because no one but spambots have registered with these email providers, the following providers have been banned (this list will be updated periodically):

yandex.ru
mail.ru
bk.ru
verizon.net
gawab.com
anything.info

Because some of these appear to be legitimate email hosts, there is the potential that a real person may want to register under one of those addresses. If that is the case, please contact me and we can work something out.

Finally, only spambot and unactivated accounts are deleted. (Banned accounts are not deleted.) Therefore, if your account has been deleted, it's not because we hate you, but because we thought you were a spambot.
If this has happened, I am very, very sorry. This forum gets at least one spambot per day, and we try to stay on top of things. If you have been deleted, please contact me so I can apologize profusely.
(Unless you created an account that looks like a spambot so that I will delete it and give you reason to yell at me, in which case, I will probably tell you where you can shove it. :))
