Cone snails are one of my favourite groups of animals. They are venomous marine molluscs found on or around coral reefs and they get their name from their beautifully-patterned cone-shaped shells. Handling live specimens is not recommended as some species have venom that's strong enough to kill a human. The venom is used to kill their prey (fish, worms or other molluscs) and is administered in small, hollow, harpoon-like teeth. The deadliest species is the Geography Cone, thought to be responsible for no less than 30 human fatalities.
