Easy, Aurora, you have just got out of the CR Chamber. You still need some rest.

I can't rest, Aurora argued while struggling to regain her balance. Is everyone else okay? I had.. dreams..

She didn't quite know how to explain it, but there were fragments of memories from the events that had taken place over the last few hours trying to claw their way into her conscious mind. She still felt weak, and quite frankly somewhat.. violated. Not because of Whitegrazer by any means, as Aurora found it oddly easy to converse with the other female using Whitegrazer's connection, but more so because someone had forcefully stolen her ID chip and caused some additional harm in the process.

He got away, didn't he?

Yes, he did. Megatron realize he would already have trouble watching Optimus and me, so he released Zodiac. That was how Zodiac was able to have the time to do what he came here to do since most of our people were outside, fighting the Predacons.

The little ermine fuzor lifted her head and brushed a very dirty lock of white fur out of her face as she stared up at the taller female. And so Zodiac continued to haunt them. But what could he possibly have wanted so badly from the Axalon that he would go to such efforts to get it? Even disguised it must have been quite the gamble to risk capture for.. whatever it was he took.

"Adaptive marinade stump..," she started before realizing she was attempting to speak out loud again, at which point she immediately closed her mouth and sighed, a deep sigh to release some of that built up frustration.

I hope Rhinox can fix this.., she told Whitegrazer earnestly after a brief pause before adding, almost as an afterthought; And that identification chip he stole.. Without it, the computer doesn't even recognize me. He could be anywhere by now with my chip, if he hasn't disposed of it already.

Again some fragments of memories flashed briefly through her convoluted mind, images of Banshee.. or what remained of her.. on the ground, lifeless optics staring blankly ahead. Aurora turned her head to look past Whitegrazer, to the location where Rattrap had come from.

Banshee isn't in one of them, is she?

No, no, she isn't

The ermine fuzor didn't respond. There really wasn't much to respond to, as death had sadly enough become a familiar sensation by now. So much pain and destruction left in the wake of this ongoing war..

It was Rattrap's presence that managed to bring something resembling a smile back on the fuzor's face. Of course the smile faded again when the rodent couldn't fathom the things she was trying to tell him, not that she could blame him given the random nature of the words escaping her mouth. Before long Aurora's hand was covering her face, her frustration mounting at her own incapability of making herself understood.
"Wait! I got 'banana'!"
Aurora peered out at Rattrap between the fingers of her hand that was still covering her face after her all too obvious face palm, part of her daring to hope that Rattrap was starting to get her point.
"Moose banana. Moose are pretty big... Like Big Banana, right? He's on his way back, so relax, would ya?"
Well.. Not quite, it would seem. But at least he helped confirm that Optimus was indeed safe and heading back. Surely with Rhinox' help. If anyone could help fix this annoying issue of hers, Rhinox could!

"Dirt milkshake," Aurora replied as she finally lowered her hand, wanting to say 'what a relief' but completely incapable of forming a genuine sentence. Ugh, this really was most frustrating.
"'Yellow tree'... That's a tough one. Yellow... tree... or tree moose," he thoughtfully tapped his chin with his index finger. "I can't say I've seen a yellow tree or a tree moose. I'm stumped, kid. But I never said I was good at riddles."
Aurora merely shook her head, using every bit of willpower she possessed not to blurt out another tirade of word nonsense.

At long last the rodent seemed to realize that she wasn't playing a game, his gaze drifting to Whitegrazer for an explanation. And fortunately the white mare/vok was more than happy to oblige.
"Zodiac took her id chip, but because of his recklessness, I believe he must have damaged the part of her processor that deals with our speech.
"Oooooooohhhh. Sooo... Not drunk? Are you sure? 'Cause I've been around plenty of drunks ta spot 'em with my eyes closed. Just gotta use de old super sniffer,"
The fuzor responded by sticking her tongue out at him. Repeatedly. Out. In. And out again. Until she finally decided to walk over to the abandoned wagon of her stuff that Zodiac had been kind enough to bring back.. Or more than likely he had done so as not to arouse suspicion since she'd been seen departing the Axalon with it. And from the pile of stuff on it, she grabbed a chalk board and some chalk she sometimes used to write out calculations.
"Yep. I definitely smell something," he playfully teased while smirking. "Eh, sorry, kid," he apologized to the Fuzor who was like a niece to him. "It's been a long day. My processor's runnin' a little slow, you know what I'm sayin'?"
Tapping the chalk on the board, she then proceeded to write 'You smell a rat' on it, proving once and for all that even though her word processor wasn't working correctly, she still hadn't lost her sense of humor. She then put the board and chalk down and went over to Rattrap to give him a hug to show there were no hard feelings. At least not towards him.
"'Course, dat means I coulda used those drinks right about now..."
You and me both.., the fuzor thought but refrained from saying anything. It had been a rough experience for all of them, but somehow they would prevail like they always did. Now if only the rest would find their way back to base as well.
"Hey, yeah. After all, he brought back a dead guy. Neurosurgery should be a cinch."
Something in that statement made the little fuzor with the fluid stained fur cringe a bit. It wasn't that she didn't have the utmost confidence in Rhinox' abilities, but the thought of having another individual rummaging through her head was more than a little frightening. When Zodiac cracked open her head and slipped his fingers inside her skull, she had been downright petrified. Having to experience something similar again was more terrifying than she wanted to imagine.
"Yeah? Well, dat thief also stole my stash of home-made happy-hour cocktails!" as if that was more important than what Whitegrazer had suggested. "Dat creep was snoopin' around in my quarters! He probably planted another bomb, fer all we know! Are we sure he still ain't lurkin' about?"
Finally having brought about the strength to release Rattrap from her hug, the rodent's sudden outburst about his drink collection brought on an unavoidable smile on the fuzor's face. Not a terribly big one, but a smile nevertheless. Oh Rattrap, ever the pessimist! Although he did bring up a valid point. Zodiac did have free access to their base to do whatever he came here to do. And surely someone as conniving as the shapeshifter had greater goals than merely raiding Rattrap's private brewery stash.
"I don't think he would have time to plant any bomb in your quarters. But I suggest, just in case, we make sure he didn't leave a present for us. I sincerely doubt he did."
Aurora was a bit less confident about Zodiac's true motives than Whitegrazer was. After all, he had attempted to destroy them all in the past. No, worse than that. He had tried to convince Primal to be the one to do it. The fuzor couldn't really imagine anything more despicable. Still, the video footage showed that he hadn't remained in Rattrap's room for more than a few moments. And he had done absolutely nothing to avoid being picked up on the security cameras. It was as if he had wanted them to see him..

Maybe he did it to prove a point and mock us at the same time?, the fuzor suggested to Whitegrazer. Surely he must have realized we would eventually see the camera footage after Rattrap noticed his stash was missing? It's as if he's leaving us a taunting goodbye.

But where would the shapeshifter be going? He was as trapped on this planet as the rest of them, his ship as well as the Akira had gone up in flames.
"It would be a delicate procedure."
Whitegrazer's statement only made Aurora more nervous, albeit if anyone could do it successfully it would be Big Green. For being so big, he had the gentlest of hands. And he had been a great teacher to the fuzor.
"But it can be done. I have no doubt Rhinox would be up to the task, but he won't be alone. We will help him with whatever he needs. "

"Rainbow bucket see carpet fishing pole," Aurora agreed with a grimace to show her dismay with the predicament she was in.
"But first, we need to see what the scan brings up before we do anything. So, during that time, I will be her translator."
Thank you.., the fuzor told the taller white female with a half-sparked smile.

Just then the lift activated, bringing a few other their missing team members back into the fold. Aurora's face lit up considerably as she saw the three of them step off the lift. Optimus looked a bit worn down, but all things considering it could have been considerably worse.
"Aurora, your repair cycle is complete already?"
The fuzor took one step towards Rhinox and Optimus, wanting to hug them both, but she was still a bit unsteady on her feet so she thought the better of it and decided to wait for them to come to her. What Rhinox had said barely registered at first, although by the look of her it was fairly obvious the repair cycle had not been allowed to complete. She opened her mouth to say something to them but Rattrap was quicker.
"She's got, uh, 'word salad', Big Green,"
"'Word' what?"
"Word salad. You know? Sorta tongue-tied. Her speech ain't workin' right, thanks ta Zodiac. Show 'em,"
"Coffee grass flying hunger box," Aurora said so quickly that she had to slow herself down. She then looked at both Optimus and Rhinox with large green optics, a mixture of delighted joy and sorrow showing in them. Thankfully Whitegrazer was there to explain more clearly what was going on.
"She is all right, but it seems Zodiac's injury to her head must have knocked or damaged the part of her brain that controls the signals between her thoughts and vocal processors." She explained. "I suggest we give her a full neurological scan and see what happened in there. Until that time, I will translate what she is saying. Due to my link with her, I will be able to communicate what she is trying to say to you all."

Could you let them know I'm so glad they're all right?
, the fuzor asked of the vok/mare right before she made another, more successful attempt to get over to Optimus for a hug. The others had told her he was all right and was coming back, but in those memories that kept haunting her she definitely knew Primal had been injured by Megatron while being held hostage. So seeing him here.. all of them here.. in person was a huge relief!
"Did you find anything on the security cameras?"
Truthfully Aurora had been more concerned with the pretender roaming about their base freely and even having the audacity to enter Rattrap's room, to even consider what his real reason for coming there was. Yes, his show for the camera and actions right before leaving did seem like he was saying farewell in a sense, but there had to have been more to it than that. So what Whitegrazer was about to reveal next, peaked the fuzor's interest.
"Yes, and I was also able to track Zodiac's movements. I felt the residual, a fragment of his presence still lingering here. I followed it to where we assigned quarters for him when we thought he was Nexus Prime."
"He took something from that room, but I have no idea what it was. Since he went straight there, that must have been the reason why he disguised himself as Aurora.
His quarters while posing as Nexus.. But those quarters were now being used as a random storage room. They had obviously searched the room in the aftermath of what had gone down at the volcano, but the renegade hadn't left anything behind. Or had he? If he did, he must have hidden it well. Concealed it under the floor, perhaps, or in the walls.. But what could it possibly have been since it obviously held so much value that he would go through so much trouble to obtain it now?

He took something he needed to leave this planet.., Aurora thought for Whitegrazer to overhear. He didn't care if we saw him on the cameras, he didn't care if we found out about what he had done.. because he does not intend to be here to suffer the consequences of his actions.

Nemesis had waited patiently for Megatron to consider her request, but to her dismay he did not share her sense of urgency on this matter. The tyrant's reasoning was understandable given the recent battle and the wounds many of the soldiers had sustained, a fact Nemesis sometimes neglected to consider due to her own uncanny healing ability, but his decision was no less frustrating nevertheless.
"Permission denied," the TransMetal t-rex told her as he looked upon the black female. "I admire your tenacity, Nemesis, however, most of my crew need repairs. As do I. Time enough later to hunt him down and end his existence. For now, I recommend that you rest until we can regroup."
The avian female stared back at the Predacon leader, stuck between her desire to attempt to persuade him and the wiser decision of letting it go. It was no secret that Megatron held little patience when his authority was questioned. Deciding it would be best to simply follow his command, the female nodded to show her understanding and agreement.

"As you command, Megatron, I will be patient. Although when we do find the traitor, I only ask that you give me a chance to show him my appreciation for the damage he has done before you terminate him."

Some of the Predacons were constantly polishing the tyrant's skid plates, but that simply was not in Nemesis' nature to do. Still, she knew better than to openly oppose Megatron. Besides his goals of restoring the Decepticon-Predacons to glory was one she agreed with.

The tyrant dismissed his crew but Nemesis remained where she was, following the leader's movements to his private chambers with her optics before she, too, left for hers when he rounded the corner and was out of sight.

Meanwhile, in a different part of the Darksyde, the false Nemesis stood in front of the newest Predacon recruit and the small fuzor. How anyone could act as stupid as Quickstrike was honestly beyond the pretender, but useless as he was in pretty much every aspect of life, at least he could be persuaded to leave quickly enough. Whether it was due for some silly desire for anyone female who'd send him even a second glance, or simply because the fuzor found the much larger crab to be quite terrifying, the renegade couldn't really tell.
"This's got our boss's approval?"
The disguised shapeshifter batted her eyes at the smaller male fuzor, resisting the urge to simply swat him away and be done with it. "I'm Megatron's trusted second-in-command," she reminded him, "As such I follow his orders to a whim. And right now I'm asking for your help on behalf of not only our leader but all of the Predacons."

This reassurance was followed up with a slight smile. Fortunately the fuzor didn't take much convincing.
"I'm on it, dark damsel!"
The smile widened a little bit as the fuzor hurried down the corridor.
"I won't let you down!"
came the shout down the corridor as the fuzor disappeared out of sight. "I know you will," the renegade muttered as he watched for another moment to make sure he was truly gone before turning his attention back to the real reason he was here.

X stood there as quite the formidable presence, towering several feet taller than the renegade in this form. If he didn't have his powers, perhaps he would have found the Maximal experiment threatening too. But as things were, he shared quite a few things with this supposedly immortal being.
"Tell me more, friend."
The renegade in the female avian's form crossed his arms as he took a moment to choose his words wisely.

"Friend.. strange term I haven't heard much. You see.. We come from a similar background, you and me. Outcasts, freaks of nature, experimented on for our unique abilities. "

Under normal circumstances, the shapeshifter would never refer to himself as a freak of nature. However this situation called for a somewhat modified approach based on the information he had obtained about the experiment known as X from Nexus Prime's private files.

"Friend," the pretender then repeated, putting on a genuine smile.

"Both Megatron and the Maximals have wronged us, thinking they can control us. But our uniqueness, that which they desire to use for their own gain, is what makes us stronger. I know of a way to get off this planet, to give us a chance to destroy those who have wronged us. There is a ship with capabilities beyond the imagination of most, submerged in a lake unbeknownst to the fools you've encountered thus far on this planet. I need your help with bringing it back up to the surface. In the meanwhile, I'll recover whatever Megatron's hold on you is so you can be free again. If you desire, I can kill Megatron in the process or leave him for you to to disassemble if you so choose. Afterwards, if you then decide to come with me, we will destroy the Council from within."

The shapeshifter paused for a moment, his gaze fixed with the larger male.

"Maybe, but after being flown in the air, I rather keep my two feet planted on the ground for a moment."
"Suit yourself," the chief medical officer had shrugged to the black widow. Predacons could be so stubborn sometimes. Well, so could some Maximals for that matter.
"Hey, I was a target too.
But she could have found refuge inside the base, or taken off from the area entirely to never have been found by any of the Predacons. Optimus was well aware how good she was at disappearing and becoming invisible when she didn't want to be bothered, so she could have done just that. Still, she stayed and fought.
Tarantulas still won't take no for an answer, and Predacons despise those who leave their ranks, especially to side with Maximals."
Indeed. All of the Maximals knew that by that, which is why they wanted to protect her and give her a chance. Megatron's dictatorship wasn't going to take any more lives who decided to betray him for better treatment or whatever their personal reasons might be; not under Primal's watch.
"Dirt milkshake,"
"Ew," the Spy made a disgusted face with a gagging noise while he couldn't help but imagine sipping a dirt milkshake. "No thanks. Dat's the worst one yet, Aurora." He laughed at her when she stuck out her tongue at him. He always enjoyed lifting her spirits and making her laugh. Mostly because she was the only one who laughed at his poor and ill-timed jokes, and she encouraged his sarcastic behavior. Of course, he did the same to her. Even though he wasn't the best role model, he was still a positive influence in her life that probably helped her through a lot of the darker times that they all had shared. Even now, when she couldn't find the right words which was probably incredibly frustrating for her, Rattrap didn't ease up on him teasing her. She was a good sport about it, especially since she was just as quick, and sometimes quicker, at dishing it back at him. She definitely wasn't the typical boring, serious and genius scientist like most of them were; no offense to Rhinox.

Puzzled by her grabbing her chalk board and writing something on it, he realized that she could probably write better than she could speak right now. That was a great idea in case Whitegrazer wasn't around to translate for her! Rattrap was proud of her adaptive nature and ingenuity until he read what she wrote. "You smell a rat," he read out loud and then laughed. "One more remark like dat, and I'm gonna take yer chalk away!" he playfully warned Aurora. Watching her put the stuff down and approach him with her arms open, he immediately grabbed her and hugged her back tightly. "Don't you ever lose dat sense of humor, you got dat? It's a gift," he told her in her ear before she loosened her arms around him and broke away.
"Rainbow bucket see carpet fishing pole,"
"Yeah, what she said," the rodent agreed with Aurora's tone despite not being able to comprehend her words. He folded his arms again and looked at Whitegrazer.

Rattrap merely spared a glance at Blackarachnia when he saw her elevate up to the bridge with Optimus and Rhinox. No, he still didn't trust her. No, he still didn't like spiders or Predacons. He only tolerated her because Optimus expected him to and to respect his decision to harbor her until either the threat on her life was alleviated or she would willingly make her own departure. If only Rattrap could harass her enough or persuade her to take an early leave of absence for good. Maximal protoform or not, he doubted he could ever trust her. She was only ever looking out for herself, just like spiders.

Happy to see her as well, Optimus had returned Whitegrazer's smile despite her appearance, although his emotion was faint considering everything that had recently transpired. Her part Cybertronain and part Vok form really hadn't bothered him much anymore. How could it? He absorbed her companionship like a sponge no matter who she was or where she was from. He couldn't deny that any longer. Was it fate that brought them together like this? How long could their relationship last...? For much longer, he hoped.
"She is all right, but it seems Zodiac's injury to her head must have knocked or damaged the part of her brain that controls the signals between her thoughts and vocal processors." "I suggest we give her a full neurological scan and see what happened in there. Until that time, I will translate what she is saying. Due to my link with her, I will be able to communicate what she is trying to say to you all."
The Maximal leader frowned at Aurora's diagnosis that Whitegrazer graciously provided. He was relieved that she would be able to help by likely listening to the Fuzor through their connected sparks and then telling them what she was actually trying to say, which, as it turned out, was pretty much what Rattrap had described. And the ermine's optic sensors were so full of hope as well as relief, and perhaps sorrow. Did Whitegrazer tell her about Banshee? For all Primal knew, she may have gotten a glimpse of Banshee's body after all. He hoped not, as gruesome and mutilated as it was. Hopefully Rattrap had contained what was left of her properly before Aurora had seen her.
"Coffee grass flying hunger box,"
Both Rhinox and Optimus frowned at Aurora's seemingly spontaneous vocabulary as they realized just how problematic it was. "I think I'll have to agreement with your assessment, Whitegrazer. It might be tricky considering how petite Aurora is, but I did study and practice a bit in the neuro sciences of biology and surgery." By no means was it going to be easy, and there was a slight chance that there might be nothing he could do at all given the damage Zodiac already inflicted inside her head, but he was going to try.

Rhinox's confidence in his work was all Optimus needed to hear to be assured that Aurora would be in good hands. Rhinox may be large, but he was gentle with very steady hands for such delicate procedures. He had done a number on Optimus alone. And even though he couldn't repair the limp in his knee in his robot mode, he did successfully recover his optic sensor and the rest of his head trauma and extensive body injuries.

"See? You can't make dis stuff up!" Rattrap exclaimed, finding it impossible to be that random with words and not laugh while doing so. "I should be writin' it down. I might be able ta use dis stuff when I retire from exploration and become a comedian." He glanced at Aurora while adding, "Don't worry, you'll get some credit for it," and winked.

Witnessing Aurora approaching him, Optimus left his crutch that was Rhinox and knelt on to the floor to hug her. It was painful in doing so, but her warm embrace of kindness and compassion seemed to make all of it disappear, even his worries and troubles, past, present and future were gone in those few precious moments. Her small gesture was exactly what he needed after losing Banshee and Protoform X, masking his failures and mistakes. His arms tightened around her little body, and he exhaled deeply over her shoulder as if her hug alone was relieving all of his stress. Unknowingly, again, his spark brightened inside of him as an invisible force of serenity and wisdom touched Aurora's spark ever so faintly, and through their connection it also touched Whitegrazer's, but no one else's this time. Her dirty and matted fur didn't bother him, but some of his dry fluids and flaky paint may have rubbed off onto her making her even more filthy. "Stay strong, Aurora. We'll... get you all fixed up...," he promised as he released their embrace smiling at her with his scarred mouth. Upon trying to stand back up, he quivered and groaned lightly in his movement and held his side with the hole in it, a couple sparks spitting out from severed wires.

Immediately noticing his struggle, Rhinox reached down to Optimus and grabbed his upper arm, carefully pulling him back up on his feet. "Easy," he said while keeping him braced against him. Primal nodded slightly as he hung his head.
"Yes, and I was also able to track Zodiac's movements. I felt the residual, a fragment of his presence still lingering here. I followed it to where we assigned quarters for him when we thought he was Nexus Prime."
The exhausted Maximal Commander lifted his chin to look at Whitegrazer when she mentioned his mentor's name. So many memories came flooding back in his mind about Nexus, Cybertron, Zodiac and Nemesis, X, the Elders, but he suddenly cut them off to spare himself the emotional anguish that he didn't wish to bear at that time. Although he turned his head away, he continued listening, as did Rhinox beside him who kept him upright.
"He took something from that room, but I have no idea what it was. Since he went straight there, that must have been the reason why he disguised himself as Aurora.
"We cleaned it all out. Dere wasn't anythin' there. Maybe he didn't find what he was lookin' for," Rattrap suggested. "And I sure as heck ain't got nothin' of interest ta him in my quarters. He's so careless with de cameras, it's like he wants us ta see what he's doin'," the Spy pointed out. "Bein' all spiteful and cocky about it, as usual."

"As usual" was only when Zodiac was up to something big, something only he knew about. And he was acting so calm in the video footage. "Rattrap..." Optimus began as he looked to his Maximals once more. "Scrutinize your quarters... and that storage room. Make sure he didn't leave... anything behind. Then I want you... to retrieve... Aurora's identification chip... if you can locate it. If it's still in Zodiac's... possession... then call for back-up. Take Blackarachnia... with you."

"Rhinox, you and Whitegrazer... work on Aurora. It's imperative that... she can speak with ease again." After giving them their orders, Primal motioned Rhinox to help him to the CR chamber.

"What?!" the vermin objected. "I think yer banana split is missin' a few banana slices, Boss Monkey, 'cause yer crazy if you think I'm gonna work with her," he rudely pointed at the black widow. "We can't trust her, and I don't trust 'er watchin' my back. She's gonna attract all de Preds ta us like a bug zapper attracts flies."

Stopping in his steps because of his outcry, Optimus looked at Rattrap and said, "And what possible... advantage would she gain... by putting her life in danger... along with yours?"

"Well...," Rattrap tried arguing but failed miserably. "She...! Uh... Well, if she's a spy, she could lead me to a trap!"

"Which you are quite... capable of escaping, as you so often... proudly boast," the commanding officer retorted. "Sooner or later, Rattrap... you will need to cooperate... with each other. There's no better time... to start than now. I will join you... once my repairs are complete," he assured his shorter Maximal.

"But...! But...!" The Spy sighed loudly in frustration while sending a glare at the black widow across the command center.

Optimus ignored the rat's plea and continued his way to the CR with Rhinox's assistance.

-----
"I don't knock, fuzor." "I'm the monster that hides underneath your bed. I'm the monster who stalks you from the darkness of your halls. I am the monster who invades your dreams. I'm the monster who is puzzle that can open pain or pleasure for you." "Ah! Your leader is right. I do have a dark sense of humor."
A dark sense of humor that Quickstrike wasn't willing to hang around and pretend to take comfort in by laughing with that psycho! Why did Megatron have to bring him into their ranks?! They were doing just fine without him! And those things he said... Well, now Quickstrike was going to look in all of the darkest corners and hallways to make this crab cake wasn't lurking anywhere near him.
"I'm Megatron's trusted second-in-command," "As such I follow his orders to a whim. And right now I'm asking for your help on behalf of not only our leader but all of the Predacons."
Quickstrike had reverted to his beast mode and exited the Darksyde, scampering his way to the coordinates that "Nemesis" had given him. He was both excited to kick some Maximal tail and to impress her with his skills and loyalty to the Predacon cause.
"As you command, Megatron, I will be patient. Although when we do find the traitor, I only ask that you give me a chance to show him my appreciation for the damage he has done before you terminate him."
Megatron had given the real Nemesis a dark smirk toward her malicious nature. "Very well," he agreed. Whether or not he would actually adhere to their agreement was yet to be seen. If the opportunity to kill Zodiac presented itself in Megatron's favor before Nemesis could do her bidding on him, he would not hesitate to take advantage of it, and she would have to accept it for what it was. "And, Nemesis?" he decided to add before he had walked away from her, "You performed well today following orders. Your cooperation and loyalty did not go unnoticed." But she still wasn't out of the woods when it came to his suspicions about her. Of course, he wasn't going to say so. He preferred keeping his Predacons on their toes and walking on egg shells as if he was always watching them. Unbeknownst to him, however, were those subtleties between her and Optimus that day that he missed observing. Lucky for her. This time. And that was all he said to her before leaving her alone in the dark corridors.

Relaxing in his personal CR tank, and after fiddling with the Vok orb with no success on activating it or figuring out its use, Megatron reached over the side of the tank and put in one of the secured gravitational holders that kept his precious artifacts elevated in mid air within in an illuminated beam of energy. There they could rotate and spin as he desired to view them effortlessly from all angles without touching them. This conquest of his was getting to be far more difficult than he had initially anticipated. Although Cryotek had taught him well, Megatron wasn't in this enormous endeavor to impress him or dote on him, unlike his adversary, Primal, did with Nexus Prime. No, he had taken everything he learned from Cryotek and ran with it for his own greedy ambitions. Optimus Primal, Zodiac, the Vok and Whitegrazer... Despising all of them, especially Zodiac, he growled deeply in his throat, grinding his teeth, and snatched up his rubber ducky in his hand as it floated in front of him, squeezing it tightly so that he exhausted all of the air inside of it like it was some kind of stress reliever. Despite the constant interference from them, not all was lost. There was still so much to do, so much to discover, and so much to decipher, like that hidden message in the Sounds of Earth disk that his name sake had left. Yesss, so many secrets that were only known to him. He grinned menacingly at his ducky before placing it back on the coolant's surface and spreading his arms outward to lay them over the rim of the tank. He leaned his head back and closed his optics, resting quietly in his softly lit quarters with Rampage's spark in his reach.
"Well, that's just prime!"

"Suit yourself,"
Blackarachnia just shrugged. Once she got inside in the Axalon, she would go into beast mode and have her compter do internal repairs. The rest was inconsequential
I can't rest, Aurora argued while struggling to regain her balance. Is everyone else okay? I had.. dreams..
I understand, Whitegrazer couldn't actually push Aurora to rest. After all, several people needed rest, and it looks like they were going to get any out of being too busy with more work or stubbornness. Or both. It would be hypocritical for to push since she was stubborn. But when Aurora said something about dreams, she wondered what the little one must have seen or heard dueling her slipping in and out of consciousness throughout the whole affair. They should be coming momentarily. Dreams, you say? Do you want to talk about them?

Through their connection, she could sense Aurora's thoughts and feelings towards the whole situation. The feeling of something taken from you, feeling of helplessness and confusion of the events that had just happened.
Rhinox is almost like a miracle worker around here, She chuckled. I know he would do the best he can to help you. We just need to take this one step at a time. Zodiac would have to captured and brought back here in order for them to get Aurora's id chip back, and along other things. Yes, once we find Zodiac. Hopefully, we can give your id chip back to you.

Images of Banshee's lifeless, half-devoured body entered her mind. At first, maybe, she thought it was her images, but no, it came from Aurora. So Aurora was conscious enough to witness such a thing. She took the blame for Banshee's death. Even though, Starshadow was responsible. If she hadn't drawn X to them, Starshadow might hadn't been there. Banshee would have been the perfect backup they needed. If she held out alittle longer, maybe, just maybe,
Banshee would have survived. Rhinox tried to tell her eariler that mistakes were made all around, but she believed she made too many today. It was... inexcusable and reckless on her part. She needed to redeem herself in her optics, in Aurora's, in Optimus', in Banshee's. It's all my fault, Aurora. I take full responsibility for her death.

Whitegrazer watched in amusement at Rattrap and Aurora's antics. She chuckled as Aurora stuck her tongue out at Rattrap playfully.
Maybe he did it to prove a point and mock us at the same time?, the fuzor suggested to Whitegrazer. Surely he must have realized we would eventually see the camera footage after Rattrap noticed his stash was missing? It's as if he's leaving us a taunting goodbye.
Maybe. It was a way of showing us that he knew or was aware of something that we aren't. Something that is helpful to him. He stole bottles of alcohol from Rattrap's quarters. He seems...giddy, almost." She was aware that giddy might not be the right word to describe Zodiac, but that's the only way she could at the present moment. He seemed awful happy about something. She wondered what it was. Whitegrazer contemplated what happened in that footage, watching it over and over again. Watching Zodiac's quick footsteps enter inside his quarters then in Rattrap's, stealing a few bottles out of the Rattrap's collection. Why did he steal bottles of alcohol? Did he do it just to spite Rattrap? Or was he stealing it due to some plan laid hidden, a plane worth celebrating for it.
Thank you..,
Whitegrazer smiled down at Aurora as Optimus, Rhinox, and Blackarachnia returned. Optimus return her smile, despite how exhausted and wounded he was. She remembered the pure bowl of serenity that Optimus seemed to be unaware, what Rhinox told her about helping Optimus find it and feel it himself. Though, with what happened with Aurora and this Zodiac business, she might have to postpone it until this was done. But she wished it didn't. She was actually looking forward to spending some time with Optimus, especially talking about what has happened and along other things and meditating. She believed they both needed some. Optimus was important, and she wasn't just saying that because of her feelings, which had never faltered for one second. He was important to all of them. She sensed through Aurora her panic for Optimus during those moments where she didn't know what was happening. She is sure that every Maximal had those moments as well. Optimus was needed. That was why she might have been as reckless as she was towards him in the first place. Though she realized her error, her feelings were clear and good-intentioned. In some part of her, she believed Optimus must be protected, that he must survive. They shared the same heroics in a way. Self-sacrifice. Optimus might not always wish to self-sacrifice in a more permanent way, but he was willing to protect those he cares about in anyway he could, even if it might harm towards him. She shared the same... feat. Maybe she needed to be the one to pull him back and watch his back. She would take that role gladly as she did with Aurora.
"I think I'll have to agreement with your assessment, Whitegrazer. It might be tricky considering how petite Aurora is, but I did study and practice a bit in the neuro sciences of biology and surgery."
"I might not be a surgeon, but I will do whatever I can to help you in any shape or form, Rhinox." It was all right to be apprehensive and nervous towards a procedure like this. as she had put to Rattrap and Aurora, it would be a delicate, and probably, painstakingly slow procedure. Requring patience and steadiness, which Rhinox had in droves.
Could you let them know I'm so glad they're all right?,
"She is relieved to see that you all are okay." Whitegrazer expressed Aurora's relief to Rhinox and Optimus. "As are we."
"Stay strong, Aurora. We'll... get you all fixed up...,"
Whitegrazer watched as Optimus knelt down in front of Aurora, despite how painful it must have been, and embraced her. For a brief moment, she felt that warmth again. It quickly passed, but it was more welcomed than anything. As Optimus tried to stand back open, he groaned, shivered in sparks that made pops from his injured side. Seeing the pain he was in just standing back up, by reflex, she went to Optimus' other side. Her hand for a brief moment hesitated to touch his arm or shoulder. But she gently placed her hand on his arm as Rhinox did with his other one. To help him stand up, steady and without any pain.
He took something he needed to leave this planet.., Aurora thought for Whitegrazer to overhear. He didn't care if we saw him on the cameras, he didn't care if we found out about what he had done.. because he does not intend to be here to suffer the consequences of his actions.
I agree, Aurora. It is the only thing that makes sense of the actions Zodiac's had taken. And if he does have a plan to leave this planet, we must find it and him.

"Aurora and I had been contemplating Zodiac's actions here. Due to Zodiac's quick actions and supposedly stealing a few bottles, he must be celebrating or indulging himself into something. He might have found something out, or a find a way to get out of here." Little did Whitegrazer knew, or was aware of, Zodiac's celebration might have been for the supposed death of Optimus Primal.

Blackarachnia's auditory sensors perked at that, "You mean... you think he might have find a way out of this planet? How?"

She shrugged, "I don't know. It is just speculation at this point."
"Rattrap..." Optimus began as he looked to his Maximals once more. "Scrutinize your quarters... and that storage room. Make sure he didn't leave... anything behind. Then I want you... to retrieve... Aurora's identification chip... if you can locate it. If it's still in Zodiac's... possession... then call for back-up. Take Blackarachnia... with you."
"Rhinox, you and Whitegrazer... work on Aurora. It's imperative that... she can speak with ease again."
"Understood, Optimus." Whitegrazer smiled. Put her hand out for Aurora to grab. Part of her wanted to go and see Zodiac. She still wanted to help Zodiac. But Aurora's problem came first. Rattrap and Blackarachnia were capable of handling that. "Optimus... I'm..." Whitegrazer wanted to talk bout something else, but she told herself that could wait. Aurora first then Zodiac and then Optimus. "You get some rest, okay? Especially, since the day isn't over yet it seems." She smiled at Optimus. She didn't realize that not only did they have to deal with X and Starshadow and Megatron and the Predacons, but now, they had to deal with Zodiac. Part of her hoped better ending for this than what happened earlier.
Blackarachnia just crossed her arms, narrowing her optics at the Maximal rat. "If your stench doesn't attract them first."
"And what possible... advantage would she gain... by putting her life in danger... along with yours?"
"Well...," Rattrap tried arguing but failed miserably. "She...! Uh... Well, if she's a spy, she could lead me to a trap!"
Which you are quite... capable of escaping, as you so often... proudly boast," the commanding officer retorted. "Sooner or later, Rattrap... you will need to cooperate... with each other. There's no better time... to start than now. I will join you... once my repairs are complete,"
"But...! But...!"
Blackarachnia just smirked. "Don't worry, rat. I'm not that fond of you either." She put her hands on her hips. "So the quite we check your quarters, the quicker we can find Zodiac and the kid's id chip, the quicker we get this over with." She thought zodiac had the right idea.

If that white mare and kid's guess was right, if Zodiac did have a way off this planet, a ship or something else, maybe she could use that. If she could get it in her possession, she might not need the Maximals anymore.

"Friend.. strange term I haven't heard much. You see.. We come from a similar background, you and me. Outcasts, freaks of nature, experimented on for our unique abilities. "
Rampage looked at Nemesis, or whoever was taking her form, and was intrigued from what this bot was telling him. "So... I guess your abilities are taking any appearance you wish? Neat." His optics twinkled. Though, he remained hesitant on them having a similar background, but his mind did wander a bit, wondering if his tormented life was due to competition or destruction. Interesting. "So... I'm not their first.
"Friend,""Both Megatron and the Maximals have wronged us, thinking they can control us.
X rubbed his chin. But not long, though. "Deal." After all, he couldn't say no to the destruction of those who wished to enslave him and those who tormented and brought him into this life back in that forest. He would love to dissemble Megatron and gobble him up in a slow and painfully crafted, though messy dinner. As for the rest of the Predacons here, he would share his pain with them. Many of them didn't do him any sin, but their lives were easily ended, and they should be gratefully. They could taste death while he is forced to embrace life. The same went for the Maximals, except for a couple. Optimus Primal, mostly, because he was the project leader, and though he regretted what had happened to him, a leader is responsible for the actions of his people. No doubt it would be a honor to do so. Still, his mind lingered with blocks of memories he wished to know. Part of him attacked that curiosity, though. Why bother with such a knowledge? It was a life that would be no longer his. This was his life now. He should remember that. There was no life for him, waiting on Cybertron. Except more death and destruction. Freely given, but yet, freely despised. Then there was that white mare, Whitegrazer. a powerful, yet repressed individual with powers he could imagine could help in bring his life to an end, and yet, she denied him that. Like the Matrix was denied to him. He would not relish in her death, but he would bring it out vengeance, out of love, and out of mercy. "They shouldn't have the time to add me to their systems yet. No doubt Megatron would suspect something if I'm not here. I could bring this ship out of the lake for you, if you can take my other half of my spark away from Megatron's clutches. Do that for me, and I will make sure you get what you want." Rampage wondered about this ship and his companion, Nightstar. He would have to find a way to free her and bring her along. So they could bring deatha nd destruction together. Like what they did at Colony Omicron.

(ooc: Just wow, guys, these posts have been awesome lately!)

I understand

Did she? No matter how bleak a situation looked, Whitegrazer never gave up. Was she even capable of being tired to the point of exhaustion, to where you could no longer function as an individual? Honestly, the white mare/vok was something of an enigma. She was so full of positive spirit, so .. unique.. and different from anyone else the fuzor had encountered. It was no wonder that Optimus found her so alluring, since he tended to carry the weight of everyone's problems on his shoulders. Perhaps she helped him carry it..?

Regardless, the fuzor couldn't bring herself to rest right now. She was too worked up, too much going on, but when all of this was over she mentally promised herself.. and the other female.. that she would rest.

They should be coming momentarily. Dreams, you say? Do you want to talk about them?

Aurora hesitated for a brief moment, pondering how to formulate what she had meant in her head.

It's.. hard to explain, the fuzor replied via their connection. I see fragments of what almost seems to be memories of what happened earlier today. Bits and pieces of a larger picture.

Her gaze then lowered to the floor as she really didn't want to remember the nightmare she had experienced. It was too painful, too.. fresh. Perhaps when a little more time had passed, she would be able to remember without cringing at the mere thought of it. And bad as those flickers of memory were to her, she couldn't even fathom what it must have been like for those who had been awake throughout the ordeal.

Poor Banshee..

They're not very pleasant.. I see glimpses of Banshee.. in pieces on the ground. Optimus bleeding.. You were there also.

After brushing some smudged locks of fur out of her face, she finally attempted to look up at the other female again. It took a little effort, mostly because she didn't want to come across as overly emotional or anything. Banshee hadn't been especially close with her, but it wasn't just Banshee.. it was the accumulation of all the Maximal deaths that had occurred since the fuzor came online. It was sort of getting to her..

I also remember the cave.. Getting hit by someone who looked just like me, waking up bleeding on the floor, and Megatron being the one to find me.

It was becoming abundantly clear that Aurora had memories of several of the events that had lead up to this disaster that went down. And she felt so guilty about it all. If she hadn't gone to that cave in the first place, Optimus wouldn't have followed. And Banshee wouldn't have been killed when coming to help them. This could all be traced back to her own actions.

I'm so sorry, the fuzor inwardly sighed. I never intended to cause so much trouble. All I wanted was to investigate the alien signal I detected from the cave, and test out a few of my gadgets..

Blissfully Whitegrazer knew when not to push a subject matter too far. However the topic she brought up to replace it, wasn't much better. The white mare believed Rhinox could help with her head wound. True, Aurora herself was sure he could too, but she still wasn't looking forward to such a delicate procedure being done on her. It wasn't that she'd never had emergency surgery done before. The first time had been after she took a bullet to the spark, a result of another of the renegade's games.

Rhinox is almost like a miracle worker around here. I know he would do the best he can to help you. We just need to take this one step at a time. Yes, once we find Zodiac. Hopefully, we can give your id chip back to you.

That he is.., Aurora agreed with a glance in the direction of their resident surgeon/mechanic/her teacher. She wasn't entirely sure following Zodiac for the chip was the best idea, however, but some of that hesitancy no doubt originated in the fact that it had been Zodiac that had left her for dead. Oddly enough, if Megatron hadn't found her and attempted to use her for his own evil schemes, she would no doubt have died in that cave..

It's all my fault, Aurora. I take full responsibility for her death.

The fuzor wasn't quite sure what Whitegrazer was referring to, since she hadn't seen Starshadow follow X there. In fact she hadn't seen X at all, as she had not been awake for that part of the ordeal. She had only woken up for the aftermath.

How could you be responsible when it was my carelessness that caused all this?
, the fuzor wondered through their connection. She did not elaborate further on the subject, although she had a feeling Whitegrazer already knew.

Fortunately Rattrap helped lighten the mood with his snippy remarks and attitude. Aurora found him quite refreshing, honestly, even in the state she was in right now. He helped her suppress those emerging feelings of remorse and guilt, at least for a little while. So she felt a little better bit by bit.
"Ew," the Spy made a disgusted face with a gagging noise while he couldn't help but imagine sipping a dirt milkshake. "No thanks. Dat's the worst one yet, Aurora."
Few bots could make her smile the way Rattrap could, and it wasn't long before he brought one back to her face despite the recent trauma she'd been through. Well, this condition of hers was annoying, but at least some good came of it. She tapped the board with her chalk, then wrote 'It's probably better than those drinks you accused me of stealing'.
"One more remark like dat, and I'm gonna take yer chalk away!" "Don't you ever lose dat sense of humor, you got dat? It's a gift,"
Rattrap gave her a nice, tight hug, which she treasured before he eventually released his grip on her. There truly was no place like home and she was so eternally grateful that she had made it back alive.

After the others had come inside and things started to settle down a bit, Aurora finally stopped that endless video loop showing Zodiac disguised as her wandering about their base. So seemingly carefree, not a shred of guilt visible on his.. no her.. face. Perhaps Whitegrazer was right. They had to find him and bring him back, he couldn't be allowed to just continue wrecking havoc. Who knew what he'd do with whatever he had taken from here?

Aurora let the video footage keep playing, no longer paying attention to it. The screen showed Zodiac leave the base, still in the disguise of the fuzor. But in the last few frames the images showed him taking out an item and look at it before putting it away. The same item he had gone through all this trouble to obtain, Nexus Prime's symbol clearly visible on the journal for that briefest of moments before the pretender disappeared out of the camera's view.
Maybe. It was a way of showing us that he knew or was aware of something that we aren't. Something that is helpful to him. He stole bottles of alcohol from Rattrap's quarters. He seems...giddy, almost."
Aurora let out a barely audible sigh.

I'm honestly less concerned about the bottles than I am about what else he took.. What could possibly have been so valuable to him that he'd risk all that to obtain it?

Indeed, thus far Zodiac's plans had only spelled trouble for the Maximals. So what was he up to now?

I agree, Aurora. It is the only thing that makes sense of the actions Zodiac's had taken. And if he does have a plan to leave this planet, we must find it and him.

But how? Zodiac was long gone by now. And it wasn't like him to leave clues behind that could lead them to his whereabouts. Aurora had not yet thought about using the stolen chip to track his movements.
"Aurora and I had been contemplating Zodiac's actions here. Due to Zodiac's quick actions and supposedly stealing a few bottles, he must be celebrating or indulging himself into something. He might have found something out, or a find a way to get out of here."
The fuzor nodded in agreement. And the more she thought about it, the more likely that hypothesis seemed honestly. Zodiac had proven to be many things, but one thing he was not was a fool. He took chances, but he usually had some plan set in motion to reduce the risk to himself. Like how he hacked into Sentinel for example..

The others started discussing how to best help fix Aurora's speech impediment. It was true that it was annoying, and who knew what the long term effects would be if Rhinox didn't get to do a good assessment job. Perhaps this was indeed the only way. But that still didn't leave the fuzor without concerns. Yes, Rhinox was the best there was.. at least on this planet. But had he ever had to do a procedure like this before?

Regardless, a hug seemed to be exactly what the fuzor needed right now. And the next one on the list was Optimus himself, so he was the one she made her way over to for a tender embrace.
"I think I'll have to agreement with your assessment, Whitegrazer. It might be tricky considering how petite Aurora is, but I did study and practice a bit in the neuro sciences of biology and surgery."
"I might not be a surgeon, but I will do whatever I can to help you in any shape or form, Rhinox."
Well.. that answered that question, at least. She was to be the guinea-pig. Guinea-ermine-butterfly-fuzor? Whatever. She had faith in Rhinox regardless, scary as the thought of this procedure was to her. All she could do was hope her trust was well-placed. Still, her head was starting to hurt from all the conflicting emotions and all those thoughts being processed at the same time. And probably some from the only partially-fixed wound also.
"See? You can't make dis stuff up!" Rattrap exclaimed, finding it impossible to be that random with words and not laugh while doing so. "I should be writin' it down. I might be able ta use dis stuff when I retire from exploration and become a comedian." He glanced at Aurora while adding, "Don't worry, you'll get some credit for it,"
Another tongue gesture from the fuzor followed that remark, and she could only hope nobody would use the camera footage of her inability to form simple sentences against her in the future. Not that she minded the rodent joking about it, not at all. But really, all she wanted was for this to be over and to forget all about it. If she could. Part of her felt that probably wouldn't be so easy, however.

The fuzor gave Optimus the best hug she could, wrapping her arms around his leg for added comfort. He was quite a bit taller than her so she only reached his midsection or so. Still, he was so very gentle when he wrapped his arms back around her. And warm.. She could feel that warmth and caring sensation emanating from him. Calling the sensation nice would be an understatement.
"Stay strong, Aurora. We'll... get you all fixed up...,"
Sadly, even the best of hugs have to end sometime and this one was no exception. Optimus' reassuring words towards her condition and treatment did help a little, though, and knowing Whitegrazer would be there, at least she would have someone to help her communicate. Perhaps she could even help during her own surgery this way. Well, it would have to wait a little bit. There were things she had to do first..

Rhinox assisted Optimus as he moved away to get his own injuries repaired, leaving the fuzor behind with Whitegrazer and Rattrap. After a few moments, the rodent too started leaving.

Aurora watched as Rattrap somewhat begrudgingly followed Optimus' orders and went to his room to investigate what mischief the shapeshifter could possibly have been up to in there. For a moment the wounded fuzor hesitated, before she decided to follow Rattrap inside his private chambers. It wasn't often the rodent invited others to join him there so part of her was kind of curious by what she'd find there. She gestured to Whitegrazer with her hand to let them know she'd be right back, before grabbing the chalk and board since Rattrap wouldn't be able to understand her otherwise.

It wasn't so much that she felt the rodent needed help with his search as much as the fact she knew that when Rhinox started the repairs on her own damaged circuitry, she wouldn't be able to see her rodent friend, the one who had taken her in almost like an uncle, off on his adventure. It was no small task that Optimus had asked of him by sending him out to locate an intruder not only capable of changing his form but also one that was perfectly willing to take their lives in the process. It seemed dangerous, and she didn't want Rattrap to go in unprepared. Also BlackArachnia had been assigned to go with him, a fact that hardly made her any less concerned about Rattrap's safety. The female spider would surely give him up to save her own hide without a second thought. She may have come from a Maximal protoform, but she identified herself as Predacon. It would take a long time for the little fuzor to be persuaded the female spider could, or even wanted to, change.

As she entered the room, it immediately became abundantly clear why Rattrap rarely invited anyone inside. It was true the fuzor's room was cluttered, mostly by experimental gadgets she was still working on perfecting, but also a number of plants and even some chemical compounds she was working on in the corner, but Rattrap took these hoarding tendencies to a whole new level. There were piles of stuff in there. In fact it was surprising the renegade had even found anything to take, whether he took the booze to celebrate or whatever.

"Burning brick..," the fuzor muttered before she centered her gaze on the rodent and smiled a bit before writing something on the board again.

'Are you sure the jerk isn't buried under some of this stuff?', she wrote and held up the board for Rattrap to see before erasing the text with her arm.

'Please be careful when you go on your mission,' she wrote next, leaving out BlackArachnia's name in part due to the fact the rodent no doubt knew of her concerns but also because the name was too long to fit comfortably on the board. After letting him see the board again, her face suddenly lit up as if she had an idea. Again she started writing on the board after wiping it clean once more.

'I've been working on something that might be useful.'

The fur on her arm was starting to get even more dirty from using it to wipe the board so frequently, but she really didn't care. When all of this was over, she planned to take a long shower. Perhaps even at the base of the waterfall.

'Something I designed to help me climb up steep surfaces to..'

Again she erased the words, secretly planning on getting a bigger board for future use in case this word salad, as Rattrap had named it, persisted for longer than she hoped.

'.. gain altitude to glide. But they could be useful to you.'

Large green optics settled on Rattrap for a moment, a slight gleam teasing both wonder and excitement about the prospect of showing the rodent one of the more recent projects she had been working on. She then rushed back into the hallway, over to the wagon to grab a couple of bands and a small device that functioned as a remote.

Upon returning, she attempted to demonstrate by moving the two bands together. But she soon enough realized she'd have to actually show Rattrap for him to understand.

Grabbing her board again, she proceeded to write down an explanation.

'When activated with the remote, these two bands will attract like magnets.'

Wipe and continue.

'They will also stick to any surface. Could be useful in a bad situation.'

As she went on, she got more and more excited to show him exactly how they worked. She had put so much effort into making them, and it had been one of the things she hoped to test out at the cave when she had been so brutally attacked.

'Made them from a synthetic material, not metal, extremely strong but flexible,' she wrote while demonstrating how he could easily stretch out the bands and manipulate them down in size.

'When you are satisfied with the shape, activate them and they remain in that form until reset.'

Finally done explaining, she looked up from the board to see that Rattrap looked more than a little hesitant. Aurora tilted her head, thinking a demonstration would be more appropriate. Rattrap was a Maximal of action, after all. So she did the only reasonable thing she could think of, and slipped one of the bands over Rattrap's wrist. She then tossed the other to the ceiling where it stuck with a simple push of a button. Aurora then smiled, a bit teasingly perhaps, and hit the button on the remote before the rodent had a chance to protest.

The band around Rattrap's wrist immediately constricted and then pulled upwards to the ceiling, pulling the rodent with it as it attached to the other band, thus leaving Rattrap dangling by his wrist several feet in the air.
"Very well,"
Nemesis had nodded, respectfully taken Megatron's answer for what it was. She knew better than to assume he would honor her request at all costs, but at least his short response left her with some hope that justice would be served.
"And, Nemesis?" he decided to add before he had walked away from her, "You performed well today following orders. Your cooperation and loyalty did not go unnoticed."
Nor did Megatron's words. The tyrant wasn't one to offer compliments freely, and when he did they often felt more like a threat than anything else. As was the case this time as well, so Nemesis had been quick to respond with "I was only doing my duty". She knew Megatron's watchful optics were upon all of them, at all times. There wasn't anyone he trusted completely, apart from himself of course. And likely this is what had kept him alive and out of prison for this long.

After the tyrant had disappeared into his quarters, Nemesis had turned around and gone to her own to rest up. Or at least try to. Her room still felt awfully enclosed to her, not to mention the dry heat that spread throughout the entire Darksyde. If only they could move to a different base sometime.. Well, that was a discussion for another time. For now she'd try to sleep for a bit.. and hopefully dream about finding Zodiac's traitorous hide.

Little did she know that the shapeshifter was just a few corridors away, currently talking to his new ally.
"So... I guess your abilities are taking any appearance you wish? Neat."
The pretender fought down an ever so slight grin when X made his observation known.

"Indeed, I can take on any appearance I desire," he confirmed, still using Nemesis' voice and appearance in the event that any of the Predacons were to walk by and see them. As if to prove a point, the fake avian female's facial features started to change to reflect that of the larger male crab instead. And for a nanoclick or two the two of them stared at each other, face to face, before the changeling reverted back to Nemesis' face.
"So... I'm not their first."
Now the crab's philosophical statement was getting a bit more complex in nature. In a sense he was, since nobody else had been created exactly like him.. with an indestructible spark. But if he was referring to being an experiment, which he surely was, then no.. he was not alone.

"You were.. and you weren't," the pretender responded. "There were other projects.. More or less successful. None quite like you, though. They struggled for a long time before they managed to stabilize your spark. I'm not quite sure when Optimus took charge of Project X, but it was under his guidance that the experiment was completed.." The shapeshifter paused, watching for a reaction before continuing. "I'd be happy to share the information I obtained about it on our way to Cybertron."

The immortal warrior turned silent, stroking his chin while contemplating the information he was given. And the proposition that went along with it. It must have been an alluring suggestion indeed.
"Deal."
The shapeshifter in disguise gave a single nod of understanding. Good. The sooner he got X to go along with his plan, the sooner he could get on his way to Cybertron and start extracting his revenge on all that had wronged him.
"They shouldn't have the time to add me to their systems yet. No doubt Megatron would suspect something if I'm not here. I could bring this ship out of the lake for you, if you can take my other half of my spark away from Megatron's clutches. Do that for me, and I will make sure you get what you want."
A slight smirk appeared on the shapeshifter's face as his frame started to shift, to grow until it matched the real X' size, the coloration changing to a more red hue, and finally the optics changed to match as well. It was an exact replica of X that now stood before him, or at least it looked like it on the outside. Growing to this size did cause the shapeshifter's armor to get a bit thinner, but not that this mattered any right now.

So Megatron had taken part of the immortal's spark.. Not a bad plan considering how rebellious X could be. Of course he wouldn't be able to hold it against the real X for long..

"I wouldn't worry, friend. I shall take your place while you go to the coordinates I'm about to transmit and salvage our vessel. In the meanwhile, I will take care of Megatron, reclaim your missing spark, and meet you by the ship home."

His voice changed to match that of X, the coordinates getting transmitted to X as they spoke. Zodiac was about to turn his attention to Megatron when he suddenly remembered the female, Nightstar, that the Predacons had brought back as their prisoner. On the hidden microphone, Megatron had referred to her as X' companion, so perhaps she'd be another bargaining chip.

"As an added bonus, I could also bring your female companion if you want..," he added with something of a wicked smile.

(( OOC: Yes, great posts, ladies! And we're moving along quite nicely! ))
"She is relieved to see that you all are okay." "As are we."
What Whitegrazer relayed to them about Aurora's feelings only made Optimus hug the Fuzor tighter without hurting her. Aurora had no idea how grateful he was that she was alright despite her current predicament and the extensive damage Zodiac had done to her head. They had almost lost her, and after losing Banshee, it would have been unbearable for the leader to cope with two deaths. He had sworn to himself to not lose any more comrades... How silly and naive of him. It would inevitably be out of his control, and Whitegrazer's. No matter how hard they tried to keep all of them safe, some times disastrous events happened out of their reach to prevent them.
"Understood, Optimus." "I might not be a surgeon, but I will do whatever I can to help you in any shape or form, Rhinox."
Rhinox gave the mare a brief smile. "I know. Trust me, you'll be a big help," he assured her aware of her basic skills when it came to medical assistance. She wouldn't have to do much unless Rhinox would need slimmer fingers, but he had another role in mind for her while he would operate on Aurora.

Primal had smiled lightly at both Rhinox and Whitegrazer who quickly came to his aid to help him to his feet after unwrapping his arms around Aurora. Considering the long day he had, he was looking forward to some rest in the CR chamber, so he was very appreciative of them guiding him toward it. He glanced at the Maximal Fuzor who deactivated the video loop feed before his optics were drawn to the monitor while the others continued discussing Zodiac's possible motives for infiltrating their base. Even Blackarachnia chimed in, however, her tone suggested a bit of urgency as though she was desperate to find out more.
"Aurora and I had been contemplating Zodiac's actions here. Due to Zodiac's quick actions and supposedly stealing a few bottles, he must be celebrating or indulging himself into something. He might have found something out, or a find a way to get out of here."
"You mean... you think he might have find a way out of this planet? How?"
"I don't know. It is just speculation at this point."
"That's impossible," Rhinox said bluntly. Well, he didn't actually think that, but he hoped it was because if Zodiac ever escaped this planet, he would no doubt continue his slaughtering rampage and there would be nothing or no one to stop him. And that was bad.

"Unless there was... some kind of alien vessel... he knows about," Optimus broke in, and he gave a side glance to Whitegrazer as if he was expecting she would know about something like that because of her connection to the Vok race. "But... even if he had... a way to escape... he wouldn't leave me behind... alive," he pointed out. Would he? The whole point of Zodiac arriving there was to kill Optimus due to his involvement in his creation - and endless torture - under Nexus Prime's supervision and education. Was he simply giving up because the shape shifter's every attempt had failed? Or did he think he was dead already? What Whitegrazer tried saying next distracted him from his thoughts.
"Optimus... I'm..."
Stopping in his foot steps made Rhinox and Whitegrazer stop, giving her his undivided attention for a moment as he turned his head to look into her optics, but she seemed hesitant to say what was really on her mind.
"You get some rest, okay? Especially, since the day isn't over yet it seems."
Primal smiled faintly at her. "I'm looking forward... to a little R&R... I can only do better... as a functioning leader... not run down with... depleted energon and injuries," he admitted to his previous mistake. He was about to start walking again toward the CR with their help when he looked at the monitor and thought he noticed something about the fake Aurora. "Wait," he told the rhino and equine on his sides so they wouldn't keep pulling him away.

Rhinox stopped and glanced at Whitegrazer before shifting his gaze to Optimus expecting him to elaborate. "What is it?"

"Pause the video!" Optimus exclaimed.

Rattrap reached over to the controls and quickly hit a button to freeze the image on the monitor.

"There," he pointed to the digital book in the fake Aurora's hands. "Enlarge that."

"Okay. But what is it?" asked Rattrap as he squinted up at the screen and tilted his head after zooming in on the object.

The TransMetal gorilla wanted to answer him but he was speechless. He recognized that book. It had been there in the Axalon this whole time since Zodiac arrived disguised as Nexus Prime? There was a whirl wind of emotions in Optimus now. He just couldn't believe what he was seeing. Is that what Zodiac really came back to retrieve? What kind of information and secrets was he stealing from it? That was not his property! He stole it from Nexus after killing him?! He stole it! And he killed him! It was almost inconceivable and unfathomable. This whole time the renegade had Primal's mentor's thoughts and wisdom in his possession!

Rhinox looked at Optimus as they all waited to hear what it was, but their commanding officer just stared at the screen with his mouth hanging open a little bit, obviously taken aback.

Primal licked the scar across his mouth and finally said, "I thought you said... that you emptied that room... entirely," seeming to accuse Rattrap of failing to find that very important item.

"I did!" the rodent said in a defensive manner. "He musta hid it outta sight ta keep it safe," he explained, wanting to keep Optimus calm. Whatever it was it clearly upset him. "I wouldn't have thought ta lift the floor boards or find a hole in the wall. Nothin' like dat was obvious." But in a small way, he did feel disappointed with himself for overlooking a hidden treasure like that. It's not like it was very small. Where could Zodiac have hidden it, though? Now Rattrap was anxious to check out that room and figure how he missed it.

It was difficult to tell if Optimus was angry about the book being there this whole time, or that it had been with Zodiac ever since he murdered the decorated Admiral. But after taking a breath, he backed down from blaming Rattrap for missing it. It wasn't his fault. "That's Nexus Prime's journal," he told them.

"I guess yer gonna want dat back along with Aurora's I.D. chip," the rodent assumed.

"No," Optimus lied to an extent. "It might be... too dangerous. Our priority is... reacquiring her chip." Assuming Zodiac hasn't destroyed it. And hopefully he won't destroy the journal out of spite either. Truth be told, Primal desperately wanted that book. If Nexus would have left it to anyone who was still alive under his leadership, he would have chosen Optimus. Even if he didn't, since it was his personal property, it certainly didn't belong in his killer's possession. He would have Rattrap and Blackarachnia focus on Aurora's chip while Primal would do what he could to obtain that journal. It might answer a lot of questions for the Maximal leader and give him some closure. As much as he wanted to chase him down now and retrieve both items, he had to get his repairs first, otherwise he wasn't much good to anyone.

Rattrap blinked then nodded. He knew that journal would be worth a lot to Optimus, if he could even bring himself to listen to it, but their selfless leader always did what was best for someone else and not himself. They were first, and his needs and desires always came second.

Realizing this discovery of what Zodiac had "stolen" out of their base, Rhinox frowned and knew how much it would mean to his friend to have that journal in his hands instead of the renegade's. One thing at a time, though.

"My orders... still stand," Optimus told his crew and the female Predacon they were harboring. Then he started limping to the CR with the continued assistance of his old friend and his love.

"I know there's a lot to think about and process, but try to rest your mind as well, Optimus. We need your fully functional," the rhinoceros urged.

Primal nodded and gave a smile to them both. "I will. Just do your best... with Aurora." Stepping in to the chamber, the door closed and immediately began repairs. At first, his mind raced. He couldn't stop the protons and neurons from firing off, the images of Banshee being mutilated by Nightstar replayed over and over again. Tarantulas and X attacking Whitegrazer. Megatron's hold on Aurora as she was bleeding to death from her head because of Zodiac. The energon storm. Protoform X. Whitegrazer's body splitting in half and feeling the affects of it with his spark through her. The journal. Nexus Prime... He couldn't deny how much he missed him and his guidance. He used to day dream about seeing him again and telling him all of his stories and experiences from his own war, much like Nexus did with Optimus. It was one of the greatest motivations for him to find a way home back to Cybertron with his Maximals. But thanks to Zodiac, there was no one for Primal to go home to. No one he was looking forward to seeing again - at least not in a positive way. When it came to the High Council, he definitely wanted to face them and get some answers. He imagined doing that as soon as they landed back on their home planet. And he would have to do it without Nexus Prime standing behind him as moral support.

Eventually, as he was finally beginning to feel much better, fatigue overcame Optimus and his over-active mind, and he slipped away into darkness and unconsciousness as he slept during his much needed repair cycle. The very painful hole in his side was the first injury to be repaired and so on while his lost fluids and energon were being replenished.

After helping Optimus to the CR chamber, Rhinox looked at Whitegrazer and said, "Let's get the infirmary prepared for Aurora's surgery. As you suggested, we'll need to do a neurological scan so I can pin point the area that's affecting her speech." He started to walk to the large room down the corridor expecting her to follow him.
"If your stench doesn't attract them first."
Although it was a pretty good comeback, Rattrap would have never given the Predacon the satisfaction or credit for it. So he scowled at her instead while shaking his head. Ugh! He couldn't believe he had to work with her!
"Don't worry, rat. I'm not that fond of you either." "So the quite we check your quarters, the quicker we can find Zodiac and the kid's id chip, the quicker we get this over with."
"Uh, no. See, nobody goes into my quarters. Have you not seen the 'No Predacons Allowed' sign hangin' on my door?" Of course, there was no such sign, but he was trying to be as "polite" as he could about keeping Preds like her out of his room and his privacy. "Why don't you focus on yer repairs, and I'll let ya know when I'm ready ta move out? Huh? How's that sound, spider? Or at least go check out de storage room where Zodiac got dat journal. Make sure he didn't leave anythin' behind and find out where he dug it out from. That'll save us some time. And try not ta break anything." He stopped speaking to her when Aurora grabbed his attention with something she wrote on her little chalk board.

"'It's probably better than those drinks you accused me of stealing'," he read aloud and managed a smirk. "Trust me, it ain't. My drinks'll knock ya out, which can be a good thing. A dirt milkshake'll just make ya vomit yer insides out." He laughed since he supposed his drinks could do the same but he never got himself drunk enough for that to happen and suffer a hangover, at least not while they were on this planet. It was too much of a risk when the Predacons or the Vok could attack at a moment's notice. So he managed some self control after all. Rattrap headed out out of the command center with Aurora in tow as he strolled to his quarters. Opening the door, he walked in without a second thought to his mess and started searching where he had left the alcoholic beverages that Zodiac had stolen. "Ugh, I can still smell 'im," he cringed. "Talk about an invasion of privacy." He hated that Zodiac, disguised as his favorite, little Fuzor, had been in there touching his things. "What a jerk," he added as he rummaged around his junk without looking back at Aurora who was probably still standing at the door and afraid to venture into such a cluttered and dirty room.
"Burning brick..,"
"I'd like ta throw a burnin' brick at Zodiac's face," Rattrap said before he looked at Aurora after she said those odd words.

"'Are you sure the jerk isn't buried under some of this stuff?'" the Spy laughed after he read her chalk-written message. "We couldn't be dat lucky. It'd be convenient, though, if he woulda been crushed to death or suffocated himself under it." He watched her erase that and write something else that was a bit more serious and meaningful to her.

'Please be careful when you go on your mission,'

This time, he hadn't read it out loud, but he smiled lightly at her. "Caution ain't my thing, you know that. I just wanna get in and get out as quickly as possible leavin' a path of destruction behind me. Heh." But he cleared his throat when he added, "I, uh, I know the odds are probably stacked against me for dis, but hey, I'm resourceful and opportunistic. Besides, I gotta look forward ta comin' back to you and saving the day by recoverin' yer chip." At least he hoped he would. Tracking down Zodiac with Blackarachnia watching his back? It sounded like a recipe for disaster, like he was really going to die this time. But hopefully Blackarachnia had her sights on something else instead of putting Rattrap's life in danger. Honestly, though, he was far more concerned about confronting Zodiac if it were to come to that. There was very little that could stop that maniac. The TransMetal rat's best course of action would probably to run from him like a coward, and he would be fine with that if it meant saving his own life!

'I've been working on something that might be useful.'

"Oh yeah? You always got the coolest gadgets, kid," he said, eager to find out what she was working on this time.
'Something I designed to help me climb up steep surfaces to..'
"Eh, I don't think I'll be doin' a lotta climbin'," he commented, puzzled by where she was going with this.

'.. gain altitude to glide. But they could be useful to you.'

"You have noticed dat I don't have any wings, right? I got dose round things called wheels," he snickered, teasing her about her poor observations even when he was aware that she was quite the opposite with her field awareness which was just one of many assets of her's that made her very valuable to the team. Curious, Rattrap watched her stare at him as he could see an idea and excitement forming in her optics. What was she up to...? Aurora exited his messy room to grab something and came back with a few objects that she began to work with but without an explanation to go along with them, he wasn't quite understanding what she was doing.

'When activated with the remote, these two bands will attract like magnets.'

"Alright. You got my attention."

'They will also stick to any surface. Could be useful in a bad situation.'

"Huh," he said with enlightenment as he began to comprehend where she was going with this. "Or a prank," he grinned.

'Made them from a synthetic material, not metal, extremely strong but flexible,'

When she explained that bands weren't metal, and since he was going to chase down Zodiac, he immediately thought of how useful they would be against the shape shifter, and his optics enlarged with this realization.

'When you are satisfied with the shape, activate them and they remain in that form until reset.'

"Aurora, yer genius is showin' again!" he complimented her while he watched her slip on one of the bands around his wrist. Of course, he had no idea just how powerful they were. He raised a quizzical brow when she tossed the other one up to the ceiling where it stuck only to return his gaze to her and the somewhat mischievous smile on her face. He narrowed a suspicious optic at her and began to say, "What are you-" Interrupted by the band on his wrist suddenly tightening after she pressed a button, he struggled to pry it off in the only split second that was available before he was abruptly pulled off of his feet finding himself dangling from the ceiling in his quarters by his wrist. "Whoa, whoa, whoa!" He squirmed and kicked his legs, and his wrist hurt a little since it was bent while holding all of his weight. "Okay, successful demo, Aurora! Lemme down now!" he pleaded, trying his best to remain calm although it wasn't quite working in his panicked voice. And he wasn't really thinking ahead of falling from the ceiling.

-----
"I was only doing my duty".
Yes, of course she was... Surely, Nemesis was aware of how much more work was ahead of her before Megatron could ever fully trust her loyalty. In fact, he may never trust her again. He was certain she had been tainted by those Maximals, but to what extent was yet to be determined.

Repaired and rested, the Predacon leader awoke and stood up in his tank. He then stepped out of it and looked down at his abdomen only to find a scar from Primal's incision with the energon blade. To think his armor that was once flawless was now permanently imperfect because of his nemesis' actions angered him greatly. Every time he would notice it, he would be forced to think of Primal. "To the Pit with him!" he hollered to himself in his quarters. No one left marks on the mighty Megatron! But he calmed down as he gazed upon his prizes; Rampage's spark and the alien orb. "But I digress," he continued in a softer voice as he talked to himself. "For I have greater plans in store that I shall not allow any distractions from Primal. If all goes well and in my favor, I will be rid of him and his Maximals soon enough." Standing by the levitating orb in its protected energy beam, he studied it once more but failed to understand its purpose or abilities. Baffled, he started to wonder if there was anyone that could possibly help him with such a mysterious artifact. Seeking help from anyone was his very last resort, after all, he didn't even want anyone to know that he had this alien object. Even though Tarantulas might have some knowledge about the Vok, he was probably the last bot he would want tinkering with his discovery. "Hm..." he thoughtfully growled in his throat. "Perhaps I just need to give it time. It may activate itself if its near an active alien site." Megatron took the orb from its containment and debated with himself about keeping it on him in his subspace all the time like he did with his golden disk. What if the orb would turn on and harm him? It would be a risk he was willing to take. Besides, at the moment, there were no Vok surprises to run to. He then put it into his subspace.

Meanwhile, Quickstrike had ventured out to the coordinates that "Nemesis" had instructed him to confront some Maximals but there didn't seem to be anyone around. "Uh..." He scratched his head with one of his yellow claws in confusion. "Am I on a wild goose chase?" He looked around the area but there definitely weren't any Maxis there. Although he didn't want to confess his failure to her, he had to let her know that she was either mistaken or the Maximals had fled before he arrived. "Quickstrike ta Nemesis," he called her on his comm. link which would connect him to the real Nemesis and not the fake one who dooped him. "There ain't any Maximals out here. Are you sure you gave me the right coordinates?"
"Well, that's just prime!"

It's.. hard to explain, the fuzor replied via their connection. I see fragments of what almost seems to be memories of what happened earlier today. Bits and pieces of a larger picture.
It makes sense. You were in and out consciousness for awhile out there, Aurora. I will try my best to help and fill in the gaps for you if you wish." Whitegrazer said to the little one.
They're not very pleasant.. I see glimpses of Banshee.. in pieces on the ground. Optimus bleeding.. You were there also.
Whitegrazer really didn't want to tell Aurora how Banshee died. It was a very gruesome death. Something that still ached her spark and sketched into her mind. The feeling of helplessness as Starshadow consumed their friend, to hear their enemy laugh callously and with enjoyment at their friend's expense. Such cruelty, such heartbreak.
I also remember the cave.. Getting hit by someone who looked just like me, waking up bleeding on the floor, and Megatron being the one to find me.
Whitegrazer nodded, "Yes, that must have been Zodiac. When we hadn't heard from you in a while, Optimus went by himself to go check on you. What we didn't realize at the time was the Predacons actually being at the same place. We knew that the Predacons would make another attempt to secure X and his companion, but Megatron made a detour towards the cave. That's probably how he saw Zodiac and you. Optimus came, but he probably was ambushed and confused at first by there being two of you." She wondered why Megatron made a detour around the cave. They made a note to jam communications in that area. "It still bugs me that they went to that cave. Why? Then it clicked. Of course, maybe they had been watching and waiting for the right time to make their move. Maybe Megatron or someone saw you or Optimus heading towards that location, and they figured they could make a hostage situation to help in getting what they wanted.
I'm so sorry, the fuzor inwardly sighed. I never intended to cause so much trouble. All I wanted was to investigate the alien signal I detected from the cave, and test out a few of my gadgets..
You shouldn't have gone alone. Optimus shouldn't have gone alone either, especially the state he was in. Nor should I." They all made the same mistake. If the situation hadn't become so serious and gruesome, it would have been funny." Did she say alien signal? Wait a minute. You detected an alien signal? In the cave?
How could you be responsible when it was my carelessness that caused all this?
Whitegrazer had sensed that Aurora didn't want to talk about what happened anymore, and she understood that as well, so she was only going to leave the little one with one piece of advice. "We can't go alone anymore. Not even Optimus. Not even me. This war is becoming even more dangerous and our enemy is getting even more desperate and trigger happy. We all need to rely on each other for now on. To protect each other. Whitegrazer smiled.

Aurora and Rattrap were being playful to one another, which Whitegrazer continued to watch with amusement. The subject then switched back to Zodiac.
I'm honestly less concerned about the bottles than I am about what else he took.. What could possibly have been so valuable to him that he'd risk all that to obtain it?

Whatever it was, maybe, after we capture Zodiac, if they could capture him, that is, we will find out ourselves.
"I know. Trust me, you'll be a big help,"
Whitegrazer smiled. She hated being useless in helping any one, and she wanted to help as much as she could so she knew she did something that was valued. Hopefully, no mater her limited skill in first aid, she would be of use.
"That's impossible,"
"Unless there was... some kind of alien vessel... he knows about," Optimus broke in, and he gave a side glance to Whitegrazer as if he was expecting she would know about something like that because of her connection to the Vok race. "But... even if he had... a way to escape... he wouldn't leave me behind... alive,"
Whitegrazer noticed the side glance Optimus gave her. She shook her head like she knew what he was thinking about. She wondered herself if Zodiac did have a ship or at least knew of one. Wait a minute. "Maybe that's why he went through great lengths to return here and gabbed what he needed. Maybe whatever he left here had information he needed." Optimus made a good point. If Zodiac was leaving, why wasn't he attempting another chance to go after Optimus. "Maybe he doesn't want to anymore?" Whitegrazer said, partly unsure and partly hopeful. That made Zodiac was slightly changing in a small way. If true, then if she could have a chance, she would very much love to help him further. If she could, of course.
"I'm looking forward... to a little R&R... I can only do better... as a functioning leader... not run down with... depleted energon and injuries,"
Whitegrazer just smiled as she helped Rhinox bring Optimus towards the Cr Chamber.
"Wait,"
She stopped. Rhinox glanced at her then at Optimus, who seemed interested in the video of Zodiac. She looked at the video herself.
"Pause the video!"
Rattrap paused the video.
"There," he pointed to the digital book in the fake Aurora's hands. "Enlarge that."
When Rattrap enlarged the image, she nodded. "So I wasn't imagining things. I did sense something was missing from that room."
"Okay. But what is it?"
Whitegrazer observed. "It looked like a book or a journal."
"I thought you said... that you emptied that room... entirely,"
Even though their link was blocked temporary, she looked at Optimus' expression and stance that she could almost feel the overwhelming emotions of anger that Optimus felt. How could they or he knew? Zodiac, when disguised as Nexus Prime, hadn't been here for very long, and it was reasonable to believe that he wouldn;t hav had the time to hide something valuable. She guessed they underestimated Zodiac's cunning and quick thinking in a situation.
"I did!" the rodent said in a defensive manner. "He musta hid it outta sight ta keep it safe," he explained, wanting to keep Optimus calm. Whatever it was it clearly upset him. "I wouldn't have thought ta lift the floor boards or find a hole in the wall. Nothin' like dat was obvious."
"When I traced the scent that Zodiac left, there was nothing, but I knew he must have taken something from that spot. There must have been an hidden compartment or pocket he created himself to hide that journal, but I wonder what that journal contains."
"That's Nexus Prime's journal,"
There was sorrow in her face when Optimus announced who that journal belonged to. She could tell how much Optimus wanted that journal. No doubt that journal from his mentor held some type of closure for him. Something that could at least allow Optimus some sense of peace over the events that had occurred.
"I guess yer gonna want dat back along with Aurora's I.D. chip,"
"No," Optimus lied to an extent. "It might be... too dangerous. Our priority is... reacquiring her chip."
Some part of Whitegrazer wished to be alongside Rattrap and Blackarachnia, so that she could retrieve that journal for Optimus. It was important to him for personal reasons, but she had to attend to Aurora first. She promised to be Aurora and help her during this procedure. She didn't want to abandoned the little one.
"My orders... still stand,"
"I know there's a lot to think about and process, but try to rest your mind as well, Optimus. We need your fully functional,"
"Rhinox is right. You just focus on getting some rest. Calm your mind. Relax your body. ," she suggested. "Rhinox and I will take good care of Aurora, and I have confidence in Rattrap and Blackarachnia that they will be able to handle Zodiac. If something does go wrong though, Rhinox and I will will do what we can to help, as you are repairing and resting." Whitegrazer smiled as she put an emphasis on her last words. Optimus needed some time to refocus himself and rejuvenate. Then she looked on sadly, placing her hand on his cheek and caressed it, "I apologize for not protecting you from that pain I felt with X. It came out of nowhere. It was like all my systems went into overload. The pain was so great that my spark probably reached out through the link by instinct." Feeling the pain from someone's spark being split open almost felt like dying. To have Optimus feel such a feeling again, it might have brought back so haunting emotions. "It must have been horrible for you. I'm so sorry."
"Let's get the infirmary prepared for Aurora's surgery. As you suggested, we'll need to do a neurological scan so I can pin point the area that's affecting her speech."
As the door shut, she looked at Rhinox, nodded, and followed him towards the infirmary. "Aurora will be at the medical bay shortly. I think she wants to show Rattrap something."

Blackarachnia crossed her arms and gave a hmph of satisfaction at Rattrap's silence to her comeback.
And try not ta break anything."
Blackrachnia narrowed her optics, "Cool your attitude, rodent. If I really wanted to go into your room, you wouldn't know it. Besides, judging by the stench and the look of it, no self-respecting bot would even touch your room. Might get rabies or something." She smirked as she walked away from them. Rattrap wasn't the boss of her anyway. She just shrugged at the rodent as she made her way towards her quarters the Maximals gave her. She sat on the metal bed and did some small repairs on herself. Not willing to use any of their Cr Chambers. Not wanting to own them anymore debts she had to pay. Predacons owed no one, especially Maximals. Terrorsaurs comment back there made her angry. The idea of her being called a MAximal made her want to kill every last one of them even more. It pained her that she needed to suck up to the goody-two shoes around here. At least. Rattrap was paranoid and distrust of her. She liked it, even if she wasn't showing it to him. That rodent didn't realize how much he would have fit in with the Predacons. Maybe she should keep that observation in her pocket of banter towards the rodent when another one of their clashing of insults came around again.

After fixing and tinkering her scratches and scraps, she moved her joints and stretched herself with a sigh of content. She then made her way towards Nexus Prime's quarters, or should she mean Zodiac's. It was empty, but with the trained eye of deception and secret, she ran her hand up and down the walls, checking for little indentations or misshaped tiles. Then she caressed the floor when she felt a small indentation. she pushed down on it and a small empty compartment opened.

"well, that must have been the place he hid the journal."

She doubled checked the room. To make sure she didn't miss anything.

"Indeed, I can take on any appearance I desire,"
Rampage made an "o" face in wonder as his new friend changed the facial appearance of the female blackbird into his own. "A very handsome crab I do say so myself." The statement didn't come off as arrogant or pompous but with a childlike playfulness and intrigued by such an ability. It made him wonder how much fun he could have had by having such an ability. Especially towards Depth Charge. Oh, changing into his old friends like Coralina or Cybershark or even better, his mentor, Devcon, would have drove that former security chief of Colony Omicron into a bloody madness of vicious rage. He chuckled darkly to himself. If only, if only.
"You were.. and you weren't," the pretender responded.
"So Optimus Primal was involved in your creation as well? Something else we share in common other than the fact that we are both, as you called it, freaks of nature," Rampage smirked. For a Maximal who had claimed to be moral and distaste the experiments that he helped in completion, he sure did was involved in them. Voluntary or not, Optimus was clearly a target for experiments such as themselves. "Oooo! Do share. Though, once we get back to Cybertron, information isn't the only thing I wish to extract." He caressed the area where half of his spark pulsed with life.
"I wouldn't worry, friend. I shall take your place while you go to the coordinates I'm about to transmit and salvage our vessel. In the meanwhile, I will take care of Megatron, reclaim your missing spark, and meet you by the ship home."
Rampage watched in amusement as his new friend fully shaped into him. "This is going to be some much fun, though, if Megatron squeezes my spark. I will still feel it. Too bad, though, I will be miles away to see the look on his face when he realizes you aren't me. Though, from what I gathered, you bette make haste yourself. A lot of people around here want your head."

Rampage watched the coordinates appear on his optics and nodded.
"As an added bonus, I could also bring your female companion if you want..,"
"I would appreciate. After all, she is my companion. She would enjoy the mayhem when we return home." Rampage smiled, rubbing his hands. "Well, I better find a way outta here before someone sees two of me. I will contact you once I secured your ship. I will keep it warm for you. Rampage smiled wider. There was no deception in x's voice. After all, if this shapeshifter had been any other Maximal or Predacon, he would have, but the idea of three freaks of nature escaping this organic planet and returning back to Cybertron to wrought their wrath and destruction towards ones in ignorance of their pain and torment.

Rampage transformed into his beast mode and crawled away into the darkness of the hallways. He didn't want anyone to see him leaving at all since they would make things harder for his new friend. So he traveled away from security cameras. There was a hole that was a tight squeeze. Must be meant for a spider rather than a crab, but he made himself fit though and used an underground tunnel that led to a bushy rock, which he opened and placed back. Then he made his way towards the coordinates of the ship.

It makes sense. You were in and out consciousness for awhile out there, Aurora. I will try my best to help and fill in the gaps for you if you wish." Whitegrazer said to the little one.

Aurora glanced in the general direction of where Rattrap had entered, wondering what the rodent had been doing just prior to meeting up with them.
Feel free to leave out the gory details, she told Whitegrazer back, not needing too many visuals of what she already knew had happened to Banshee. But I would appreciate the rest of the gaps filled in. If you can.

Whitegrazer was kind enough to do just that, her motherly instincts no doubt kicking in.

"Yes, that must have been Zodiac.

Megatron found me in the cave afterwards, Aurora corrected the other female to help fill in the gaps in the timeline. It was Zodiac that lured me into the cave. I detected an alien signature from there.. He must have triggered it somehow.

Aurora merely nodded in silence, struggling to remember the details of what had happened.

I was at the Axalon testing some of my equipment when I detected a signal from that cave. The rest of you were already outside battling for X and I had been told not to go outside for that reason. So I decided the direction of the cave seemed safe enough with none of the battle going on there. I wasn't going to be long..

She hesitated for a moment, looking a bit uncomfortable.

I never saw what the signal originated from. I simply presumed it was due to Zodiac doing something.

Whitegrazer was understanding as ever, which was most welcoming.

"We can't go alone anymore. Not even Optimus. Not even me. This war is becoming even more dangerous and our enemy is getting even more desperate and trigger happy. We all need to rely on each other for now on. To protect each other. Whitegrazer smiled.

The fuzor nodded in silent agreement. There was no point arguing the fact when the other female was so clearly in the right here. They all had to be more careful. Especially when both Zodiac, Megatron, and potentially the Vok were all involved.
Whatever it was, maybe, after we capture Zodiac, we will find out ourselves.

Aurora lifted her head a bit to gaze upon the other femme, her optics both a big frightened by the prospect of seeing Zodiac again and the allurement of learning more about him.

If we do capture him, we'd need to upgrade our brig to contain him. He can devour metal after all. Perhaps reinforce the walls with cement and upgrade a forcefield..

Their non-verbal conversation got interrupted by the others, who were busy discussing the recent break-in and what their response should be.
"That's impossible,"
"Unless there was... some kind of alien vessel... he knows about,"
Aurora had stepped back when Optimus finally released her from the hug, such a warm and comforting embrace it had been, and merely listened to the others as they continued discussing Zodiac's motives. She would have joined in on the discussion, of course, but given her present predicament that left her unable to form simple words much less a complete sentence about the topics she actually wanted to discuss, she felt it best to just remain quiet. As hard as such a task was for her.

Her lack of verbal interaction, however, did not stop her from considering everything the others said, her mind constantly working on solving one problem or another. Where, exactly, she got this trait from, she couldn't be sure. But she'd always been that way. A strange variant of a prodigy with the curiosity of a child, with a mindset that wasn't that of a child nor an adult. She understood much more than she let on sometimes and quite often got lost in thought while working on one of her projects. They didn't all turn out great, of course, but such was the field of science. One just had to try again until one achieved one's goal. And it was that unyielding spirit to never give up that had more than likely helped Aurora survive those times she had been seriously injured. Like at the cave only a few hours prior..

Which lead her back to the situation at hand. What could possibly be so important that Zodiac would go through so much trouble in order to gain access to the Axalon and steal something from here? While it was true his plans tended to be elaborate, it wasn't like him to take such risks without a good reason. If he truly had access to an alien vessel, why bother returning to the Axalon? Why not just use it? Aurora was present at the alien site when Whitegrazer had gotten possessed by the Vok who tried to use her against them. Zodiac had seemed weary of being near them, and he had made off with Megatron's golden disk before everything had a chance to settle down. So if he already had the disk in his possession, what could he possibly want from the Axalon? The other disk, perhaps, the one now in Primal's possession? No.. The video showed he had made no attempts to access Primal's room or really go anywhere aside from the storage room he once inhabited while posing as Nexus Prime, as well as Rattrap's room.. That couldn't have been what he was after.
"But... even if he had... a way to escape... he wouldn't leave me behind... alive,"
Optimus did bring up a valid point. Had the shapeshifter truly given up on his plans of revenge against Primal? Or was he planning something new, something that would ultimately cause Primal's destruction? Or did he assume Optimus and perhaps the fuzor herself had fallen prey to Megatron? The latter didn't seem too unlikely given the situation they were in when the purple tyrant had released Zodiac. Or at least that's what Aurora figured had happened based on what she'd been told thus far.

What do you make of all of this?, Aurora questioned Whitegrazer via their connection. You've been inside his head so to speak.
"Pause the video!"
Aurora had just been about to follow Rattrap out of the room when both of them stopped in their tracks from Primal's sudden outburst. And Rattrap reacted immediately, pausing the video and then zooming in on the fake fuzor who was putting something away.

The ermine-fuzor looked from the screen to Optimus, watching as his expression changed. He recognized whatever the item was, she could tell.
"I thought you said... that you emptied that room... entirely,"
And whatever it was, it had Optimus on edge. She could see him tense up, a bit of a huffing noise escaping him as he spoke up again.

"Rabbit..?," Aurora said before realizing she had broken her silence. Rattrap, on the other hand, responded by defending himself from the accusing tone being directed at him. Like Primal presumed he had been sloppy in his work.
"When I traced the scent that Zodiac left, there was nothing, but I knew he must have taken something from that spot. There must have been an hidden compartment or pocket he created himself to hide that journal, but I wonder what that journal contains."
"That's Nexus Prime's journal,"
And then it all became clear. Not that the fuzor knew Nexus well at all, or the real Nexus at least, but she could understand how personal something like a journal could be to someone. It was supposed to be a safe haven for their thoughts, dreams and ambitions. Aurora kept a journal as well, although hers mostly contained ideas for future experiments.
"I guess yer gonna want dat back along with Aurora's I.D. chip,"
"It might be... too dangerous. Our priority is... reacquiring her chip."
Optimus struggled to keep his emotions in check. She could tell. Her optics flickered over to Whitegrazer for a moment, wondering if the white mare could help their leader sort out all these emotions he must be overwhelmed by right now.

We could always do both?, the fuzor suggested to the taller female. We'll have to track him down for the chip anyway, right? Unless, of course, they were lucky enough that the chip had been discarded somewhere, unharmed.

The group went their separate ways and Aurora followed Rattrap to his private chambers. BlackArachnia tried to follow suit part of the way but Rattrap was quick to dismiss her, a fact the fuzor found reassuring. Spiders gave her the creeps.. and this one seemed very devious, like she would turn on them as soon as the opportunity to do so arose. It would take more time to develop a trusting relationship with her..
"Uh, no. See, nobody goes into my quarters. Have you not seen the 'No Predacons Allowed' sign hangin' on my door?"
Aurora tapped the chalk against the board, tempted to write something, but refrained from doing so. Optimus seemed to welcome the she-spider oddly enough, so she didn't want to be lectured by him about this.

BlackArachnia disappeared soon enough, hopefully to follow Rattrap's suggestion to search the storage room. Meanwhile Aurora followed Rattrap into his extremely messy personal quarters.
"Trust me, it ain't. My drinks'll knock ya out, which can be a good thing. A dirt milkshake'll just make ya vomit yer insides out."
'With any luck, our thieving friend has been knocked out then', the fuzor wrote on the board. At least that would make their mission easier. Of course Aurora doubted they'd be that lucky.. Could the shapeshifter even get drunk enough to pass out given the increased metabolism he had from his nanomachines? She recalled how sedatives worked on him, but not for very long before he required another dose. Anyone else would probably be in a coma for days, or dead, after drinking Rattrap's drinks.. Presuming that is what he planned to use them for. Personally Aurora found it to be in poor taste regardless.
"Ugh, I can still smell 'im," he cringed. "Talk about an invasion of privacy."
Perhaps he targeted you after what happened on the exploding mountain?, she suggested via her chalk board. The rodent had shot him when he was unable to change his appearance or heal. Although part of her wondered if Rattrap was serious or not about being able to smell him still. It had been several hours after all. A nose like that would probably be more trouble than it was worth..
"I'd like ta throw a burnin' brick at Zodiac's face,"
'Me too.'
came the written response.

She wouldn't deny how she felt. Although she probably would hesitate getting close enough to someone like that to actually do it.
"We couldn't be dat lucky. It'd be convenient, though, if he woulda been crushed to death or suffocated himself under it."
Aurora chuckled at that.

The least the shapeshifter could have done would have been to consume some of the metallic trash in here.. Of course most of the stuff in Rattrap's room was just that.. trash. And the fuzor still didn't quite know how the metal consumption thing worked, but she had seen the aftermath of when he tried to kill Whitegrazer by devouring part of her throat and chest. It had been horrible to watch.. Nothing like what she had ever seen. No, that wasn't true.. Albeit they had tried to hide the remains from her, Aurora knew all too well how Valkyrie had met her demise at the hands of Nemesis. And still Optimus seemed to have some form of mutual respect with the avian female who was almost as freaky as the shapeshifter was.

The chuckle quickly subsided upon remembering those things, her face taking on a more serious look.
Besides, I gotta look forward ta comin' back to you and saving the day by recoverin' yer chip."
Aurora nodded. 'I have faith and I know you can do this,' she then wrote on the board, trying to offer a few words of encouragement no matter how scared she felt on the inside. If anyone could do it, it was Rattrap. He could panic once in a while, but usually kept a cool head. And he wasn't as bound by emotions as Optimus so he was less likely to get overwhelmed by them. Though despite Rattrap's tough guy persona, most of the Maximals were aware of how he cared about them. He just didn't show it other than for a select few, herself included.

'It doesn't hurt to have a few surprises in store though', she then added on the board, referring to her equipment that she was trying to persuade him to bring along.
"Oh yeah? You always got the coolest gadgets, kid,"
'I don't sleep enough,' she told him in written form. Which was true. She spent an insane amount of time on her projects and found it difficult to relax. She was virtually always looking for information or methods to improve her little gadgets.
"Eh, I don't think I'll be doin' a lotta climbin',"
"You have noticed dat I don't have any wings, right? I got dose round things called wheels,"
She shook her head at his narrow-mindedness. But she'd show him what other uses her device had in a moment. It was far easier to demonstrate it than to keep writing it.
"Alright. You got my attention."
Well.. good!
"Or a prank,"
'Well that too,' she wrote quickly on her board before erasing it. She didn't want to go too far off track here since she knew they were somewhat short on time if they wanted to catch up to the shapeshifter. He only had a few hours head start on them after all. Although Rattrap was correct and she was sure she could come up with a lot of fun ways to take advantage of the device later on. Provided Rattrap didn't destroy the prototype.

For the short remaining duration of her explanation, Rattrap remained quiet enough to allow her to finish. After she had written the last part down on the board, the rodent looked at her and exclaimed;
"Aurora, yer genius is showin' again!"

The fuzor grinned slightly, whether as a response to his compliment or because of what she was about to do. Perhaps a bit of both? At any rate she certainly didn't let the rodent's temporary enthusiasm stop her from attaching one of the bands to his wrist and throwing the other up to the ceiling.
"What are you-"
As the device was turned on and hoisted Rattrap up into the air in a fluid and swift motion, the fuzor gave him a slight wave of the hand. It was quite amusing to watch him squirm and wiggle while dangling from the ceiling, obviously much higher up than the rodent was used to being. Aurora couldn't hold back a slight snicker as she watched him try to free himself.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!"
"Loganberry!," she called up to him with a wink. The rodent, however, didn't seem to appreciate the experience as much as she was.
"Okay, successful demo, Aurora! Lemme down now!"
Well.. okay!, she thought to herself, not bothering to write it down since he'd likely not be able to read her board in the frantic state he seemed to be in at the moment. So she merely pushed the button on the remote that attached the safety line between the two bands and then let it lower him to the ground again. As soon as his feet touched the floor, she grabbed her board again and wrote something on it before showing it to Rattrap.

'Think you can find a use for it? It's a prototype but could use field testing..'

"A very handsome crab I do say so myself."
Zodiac smiled ever so slightly while wearing the newest Predacon recruit's face, resisting the urge to cycle through the other forms he could take. There really was no need to push much to persuade this X, a fellow experiment as he was, since his hatred for Megatron easily overshadowed any hesitation the crab may have had.

As the seemingly immortal crab continued studying him with a childlike glee, he suddenly erupted in a dark chuckle. It didn't take long for the shapeshifter to follow suit, letting out a bit of a chuckle as well and adjusting his pitch to match that of the crab while at it. Impersonating someone came easily to the renegade. After all, it's what he had been designed for and trained to do his entire life. He may not have X' brute strength or immortal spark, but he certainly could blend in and stab someone in the back as soon as they let their guard down.

"And one Megatron will never see coming," the copy remarked as way of response.
"So Optimus Primal was involved in your creation as well? Something else we share in common other than the fact that we are both, as you called it, freaks of nature,"
"Freaks of nature, or an improvement of it. Take it as you will," the shapeshifter replied while glancing over his shoulder to make sure they weren't being watched. Fortunately they were still alone, albeit no telling for how long. Sooner or later that idiot fuzor was bound to realize he'd been sent on a wild goose chase. And then he would surely try to contact one of his superiors. So they were a bit short on time.

"But yes," the renegade then continued as he turned back to the crab, "Optimus was indeed very much so a part of my development as well. Not that it will matter much when we get back to Cybertron. When we get back there, we'll destroy their entire corrupt organization from within."
"Oooo! Do share. Though, once we get back to Cybertron, information isn't the only thing I wish to extract."
Zodiac tilted his head a bit, curious what the giant crab was referring to. He then took note of the gesture the crab made on his chest, right on top of where he presumed the other male's spark chamber would be. Ah yes.. The missing part of his spark. Honestly the shapeshifter couldn't even imagine how anyone could survive such an ordeal. It certainly proved just how great this X' stamina was. Half his spark was missing and he still was strong enough to intimidate almost anyone. Had the shapeshifter not had his abilities, he more than likely would have felt the same as well. But as things were, there wasn't much even the crab could do to him. Or at least so he hoped.

"Help me and you can have whatever you desire," Zodiac then promised, eager to finish this up before he was found out. After all, Megatron and most of the other Predacons were less than pleased with him still being alive. If Megatron didn't have his hands full at the time, the shapeshifter was certain he would not have let him go. And a grave mistake that was about to turn out to be for the purple tyrant.
"This is going to be some much fun, though, if Megatron squeezes my spark. I will still feel it. Too bad, though, I will be miles away to see the look on his face when he realizes you aren't me. Though, from what I gathered, you bette make haste yourself. A lot of people around here want your head."
"I will do what I can to make this a smooth transition when I reclaim ownership of your spark for you," the shapeshifter agreed, "Albeit I can certainly promise Megatron will not be inclined to agree.. He will pay for what he has done."

Now fully transformed into the crab's robot form, Zodiac took a step back as he prepared to go to Megatron's private chamber.

"And while I appreciate your concern, I fully intend to keep my head firmly attached to my body," the shapeshifter said with a low chuckle.
"I would appreciate. After all, she is my companion. She would enjoy the mayhem when we return home." Rampage smiled, rubbing his hands. "Well, I better find a way outta here before someone sees two of me. I will contact you once I secured your ship. I will keep it warm for you.
The chuckle died down only to be replaced by what could only be presumed to be a grin, although it was hard to tell given the crab's unique facial features. Indeed, X was a difficult bot to read and not the easiest to mimic due to his limited range of expressions.

"With any luck she will be willing to partake in the mayhem as well," the shapeshifter added, giving the other crab a gesture that it was indeed time they parted ways for now. "I will be joining you shortly, as soon as I've acquired the things you desire."

He then watched as the crab started to leave before he, too, wandered off in the opposite direction. And before long he stood at the tyrant's door.

The pretender raised a fist and banged it against the closed door as he spoke up; "Megatron, I require your attention."

(Joint post between OOP and myself)

As soon as he heard a knock on his metal door, Megatron started to roll his optics with a sigh of irritation. Who was it, and what could possibly be worth interrupting his down time?

But then his audio sensors recognized his new Predacon’s voice; Rampage. Now he was somewhat intrigued, but it could simply be his first pathetic and inevitably failed attempt at getting reacquainted his the half of his spark that was now in the tyrant’s possession. Well, let us see what this is about, he thought as curiosity got the better of him in his currently comfortable and confident state.

“My dear Rampage, do come in,” Megatron invited the crab with a polite voice while he remained standing next to his spark - which was encased in its vice still sitting where he left it - and the CR tank and remotely opened the door to his quarters for the experiment to enter as he faced him in his direction. He purposely didn’t approach him to keep some distance between them in case the crustacean decided to attack him to retrieve his spark. “What can I do to accommodate you?” His friendly tone was covered in slime as he smiled smugly at him.

Rampage.., the pretender thought as he entered the door. He hadn't been aware of the tyrant giving his new pet a name. Fortunately it was his target that had enlightened him of such an important event and thus prevented him from making a fool out of himself and entirely losing the element of surprise.

"Now that I'm a part of your team, I figured we should get properly introduced," the crab imitator said as he entered the room, glancing around as if it had been his first visit here. Of course it truly wasn't, but he hadn't been to Megatron's quarters since his very brief stay here while posing as Nexus Prime, back when he first showed his true colors to the tyrant. How fitting that he would now be invited back here to finish him off.

He paused, stopping in his tracks, as he noticed the glowing spark stuck in the vice, obviously located close to the tyrant. Megatron was many things but not a fool.. Well, in this particular instance he was, since he would no doubt never have opened his doors to the shapeshifter if he had even an inkling of doubt about his true identity. Not wanting to appear overly interested in the spark, the tall crab turned his green gaze back to the tyrant. "I come with a proposition for you."

Of course Megatron watched him closely and cautiously as he stepped into his private room in his robot mode. Luckily for the crab, Rampage didn’t appear to be readily armed, otherwise Megatron would have put him in his place and kicked him out. “Properly introduced?” he repeated while narrowing an optic at him. “I beg to differ. Introductions have been finalized between us. I’m fully aware as to who you are and what you’re capable of.” It didn’t matter to Megatron if that wasn’t a two-way street. But what the crab said next grabbed his attention. Although he pondered what he could possibly offer him. And what did he desire in return? His spark? Hah! Never. “A proposition you say? Well, this should be enthralling.” There was some sarcasm in his deep voice as if he was already expecting a pitiful bribe. “Captivate me,” Megatron allowed him to speak further.

The fake Rampage took a step closer, eyeing the tyrant intently. It had been a little while since the two of them had been this close, as Zodiac recalled, but the Predacon leader had certainly been just as cautious then as he was now. Not that it would make any difference in the end.

"It's quite a simple proposal," the pretender told the tyrant as he took yet another step closer. "And you will give me what I want, or I will feast on your wretched hide." There was no hesitation in his voice, just cold, calculated words. Truth. As Megatron was about to discover.

The shapeshifter didn't seem overly phased by the normally intimidating tyrant. And why would he be? Megatron still believed him to be the real Rampage, a name most fitting for the crab from what the renegade had seen thus far.

As their optics locked and the large bot approached him step by step, Megatron narrowed both of his eyes now and reached over to grab the spark in its contraption without taking his glare off of him. “You ought to choose your next words and actions more carefully, Rampage,” he warned him although he didn’t step back. The Predacon leader stood his ground since he believe he had the upper hand. Surely this lower life form had better sense than to bluntly threaten Megatron like this. He gave him one more chance to correct his current attitude as he held up his spark to remind the crab what was going to happen if he took one more step.

The pretender chuckled darkly as Megatron grabbed his only, and quite frankly useless, defense mechanism, and held it up for Rampage to see. But he did halt his movements for but a moment. "I'm immortal, you flippant fool," the crab look-alike reminded the tyrant. "You may hurt me, but you will never break me."

He then reached out his hand, demonstrating a yanking motion with it as if he planned to thrust his entire arm through the tyrant's chest and yank out his spark. He wanted to see for himself if Megatron would face certain death with his endless smugness, or if he as well could be brought to a state of hopelessness and despair. In short, he wanted to toy a bit with his would-be victim before finishing the job. Truth be told, he lied when he insinuated that Megatron had a choice in this matter. Just like he had lied so many times before to almost everyone he came across.

“My, what a short memory you have,” he said as he scowled at the crab now for his insolent words that were followed up by his physically threatening gesture. “I don’t need to break you, Rampage. I just need to use you as I see fit!” With that, Megatron squeezed the spark quite harshly and almost allowed a grin to appear on his face as he eagerly anticipated the misery and suffering that he was about to inflict on the invincible crustacean to make him behave and fall to his knees in front of his sharp, purple toes. How disappointedly predictable this interaction turned out to be.

The fake rampage followed the movements of Megatron's arm as it started applying pressure to the contraption that resulted in the spark getting squeezed. Of course the shapeshifter couldn't feel the pain, but part of him did wonder if the real Rampage could feel some of it at that moment. Regardless, he still feigned the discomfort, not wanting to alert Megatron as to his true intentions just yet. Not until he was closer.

He made a grunting sound, moving his arm up to his own chest as if his spark was pounding violently within. In a sense he guess it was, but it was out of excitement for his upcoming kill more than anything. "Enough..," he moaned, refusing to show weakness, taking what appeared to be a couple of staggering steps towards his tormentor.

But after the tyrant had kept applying pressure to the spark for another moment or two, the shapeshifter thought it best to drop to his knees, seemingly in excruciating pain, mostly to keep the pain from subduing his partner in crime from his task. He only needed Megatron to come another step closer..

“No,” the TransMetal tyrannosaurus failed yo comply. “You will yield and learn your place!” The grin briefly appeared as Rampage reacted as expected, until Megatron felt that it didn’t seem as painful as it should have been. Sure, there was the groaning and begging and collapsing to his knees, but the tyrant wasn’t satisfied. Something felt amiss. As if he needed a closer examination to his skepticism, he took a step toward him and immediately stopped when he noticed that what was also not present was the flashing of energy surging through Rampage’s body like he would have been experiencing energon build up. Why wasn’t that happening this time? He started to retract his step forward by picking up his foot and moving it backward.

Zodiac in Rampage's form paused his performance as Megatron seized his approach and in fact took a step backwards. daring to look up at the tyrant to see the hesitation in his optics. So the tyrant wouldn't step into his little trap.. Well then, he'd just have to force him.

Suddenly bursting to his feet despite the continued pressure applied to the spark, the pretender closed the gap between Megatron and himself in a couple quick steps. His face was one of determination, yet he said nothing as he reached his arm around and grabbed for the back of Megatron's neck in order to force him forward. His free hand was prepared to plunge several large spikes into Megatron's chest, intended to incapacitate and possibly kill the tyrant.

Megatron managed a growl when he saw the fake Rampage jump to his feet despite him clamping down on the spark even further. It was in that moment that he realized it couldn’t be Protoform X. “ZODIAC!” he hollered in sheer rage. How dare he show himself in the Darksyde and sneak his way into his quarters! How dare he! Using his other hand, he drew his tail gun weapon but didn’t have enough time to charge it and fire it at the shape shifter. All he could do was use it to block Zodiac’s hand with the spikes. He pushed against it to keep them from penetrating his armor. Unfortunately, the renegade’s hand on the back of his neck had been planted there firmly and pushed him downward against his will. Megatron had no choice but to drop Rampage’s spark, which banged loudly on the floor, and use that hand to reach his neck to try and pry Zodiac’s fake, red, pudgy fingers off of it.

Zodiac grinned, well as far as he was able to in this form, when Megatron called out his name with such fury it would surely have made a lesser bot tremble in fear. But the shapeshifter didn't budge, not when he had Cryotek's favorite student exactly where he wanted him. Why the crime lord had always favored Megatron was beyond the shapeshifter. It wasn't as if the purple tyrant possessed any special abilities like he did, or held any particular loyalty towards his teacher. Not at all.

But in the end, Megatron had stolen that which belonged to Cryotek and had deserted him to flee to this planet.. This Earth. Cryotek had been furious, of course, but he hadn't had the option of going after his former pupil at that time. It was almost ironic that it would be Cryotek's own creation that would now put an end to the traitorous Megatron, and yet Zodiac held no more loyalty towards Cryotek anymore either.

As Megatron dropped the caged spark, the pretender chose to ignore it for now. If he had attempted to grab it, he would merely be giving the tyrant the upper hand. No, he had to finish the job first. Both of Megatron's hands were busy now, one attempting to keep the renegade from pushing him closer to the spikes while the other attempted to hold the spikes from puncturing through his armor. During this process, the spikes slashed into Megatron's hands, ripping the metal apart to leave superficial rifts in the hand. Zodiac almost laughed at the tyrant's futile struggle against the inevitable. And as he finally burst into laughter, the spikes on the arm started growing longer. Meanwhile his grip on the tyrant's neck didn't falter.

The Predacon warlord cried out in pain when the sharp objects stabbed through his hand, tearing it and causing him to release his large weapon. Clenching his jaws, he refused this being his fate. This fool had no idea what he was doing! He was compromising everything Megatron was working so hard to achieve in the ultimate galactic conquest! He growled and kept pushing Zodiac’s hand as much as he could even though it ached and burned from its injuries. No, he refused! This would not be his demise! Activating his twin engines, he reversed their thrust and attempted to pull himself backwards to escape the false Rampage’s grasp.

The sudden firing of Megatron's thrusters is what caused Zodiac to lose control over his foe's movements, the ignited thrusters causing too much of a resistance for him to be able to hold on. The pretender let go, allowing the tyrant this small and very short lived victory. Watching the tyrant resist his fate, Zodiac wasted no time stepping between Megatron and the spark.

"Face it, Megatron, you're outmatched," the renegade told the tyrant coldly. "Do you honestly think that you can stop me? Why prolong your suffering?"

While the Predacon leader had lost his weapon, Zodiac still had all of his. Yet he didn't pull out any firearms, not wanting to alert the other Predacons who were bound to come to investigate if they heard the weapons being fired. The renegade looked at his opponent, enjoying the sight of his seeping wounds, relishing in the change in status of his enemy before he, too, started changing. His armor shifting, colors taking on a different hue as he changed his form to that of Megatron himself while he proceeded to close the gap between the two of them yet again.

Megatron’s back slammed against the wall once Zodiac released him and he cut the thrust to his engines. He held his terribly wounded hand in the other as though it was an attempt to protect it but it wouldn’t have mattered. Some mech fluid dribbled down the fingers dripping on to the metal floor. He gave his foe the angriest of glares as he growled at his words. How did it come to this? How could Megatron have been so obtuse?! Why exactly was Zodiac doing this? Shouldn’t he be pestering Primal and trying to exterminate HIS spark?!

The Predacon watched Zodiac’s appearance shift before his very optics only to find him staring at himself. How convenient. Then he began advancing toward him again. Megatron activated his shoulder-mounted guns and fired them at the shape shifter.

“Outmatched?” Megatron spat on the word. “I have so much set in motion that not even my untimely demise can stop it,” he bluffed. To an extent. The Predacon leader had many precautions in place that it would be almost impossible to imprison him for long periods of time or terminate him. Zodiac would see. What a fool! Then again, he had no idea what the renegade was up to. “You had best retreat before the calvary arrives. You won’t escape that easily, Zodiac! Nooo!”

The clone merely smiled, having copied that wicked grin Megatron often used, down to the last detail. The other male was pummeling him with shots, but these only slowed his movements down a little and occasionally he cringed a bit as the shots hit him. Fortunately his nanomachines were quick to repair the damages, and he wasn't about to give Megatron the chance to keep firing until he had exhausted the shapeshifter's healing abilities. "Escape? Oh, I'm flattered you're so concerned about my well being, but I'm precisely where I want to be," he told the other male, having resorted to copying his voice as well, all the while approaching the wounded male. "And please enlighten me on how you plan on stopping me," he then added, genuinely curious how the tyrant could even think he'd get out of this one alive.

As he walked, almost casually slow, he pulled out the large broadsword he had once lost on the exploding mountain, having gone back there to retrieve it after he had regained his powers. "Come now, Megatron, you are making this harder than it has to be.." He swung the sword at the tyrant, who conveniently was forced up against the wall.

“A magician never reveals his secrets!” Megatron exclaimed, obviously having learned from his past mishaps to not boast and share information about his schemes until he had already succeeded in fulfilling them. And this time was no different despite how bleak his future seemed at the moment. Zodiac may have been able to copy him to a tee, which almost made Megatron admire how devilish and intimidating his facial expressions and mannerisms were in others’ optics since he could see them now for himself, but he could never truly be Megatron. He didn’t have the intuition, intelligence and cunning to stay three steps ahead of everyone else on that planet. Only Megatron had been bequeathed with that kind of programming. He even triumphed Cryotek in that aspect.

Observing Zodiac wielding the sword and swinging it, Megatron was cornered and had no where to go. What was he going to do with the long blade? Well, he had a few guesses but he hoped it wouldn’t be swung at his head...

Zodiac finally closed on the last few steps, the sword pointed menacingly at Megatron's abdomen as his clone came face to face with his foe once more. He held the sword there, pressing the tip against the other male, hoping to catch a squirming motion, a tremor, anything showing how helpless the tyrant truly felt right now. "Do keep in mind that magicians eventually run out of rehearsed tricks.. and you, my friend, have reached the end."

Keeping the sword pressed firmly against the other male, the pretender swiftly moved the arm with the spikes to the tyrant's throat. "I was going to make this a clean death but you had to force my hand..," he then whispered in the tyrant's own voice as he leaned in close. While talking, he also moved closer, forcing the blade and the spikes closer to the tyrant's armor until they started penetrating.

The motion was fluid, but slower than it strictly had to be in order to savor the pain he was inflicting on the other male. Zodiac held the sword steady and firmly against the tyrant's abdomen, using the t-rex as leverage as he pushed the sword harder against the armor until it dented and then started to crack. To add to the pain, the renegade made sure to twist the blade, intending to cause as much damage as he possibly could. It wasn't going to be the swift death the changeling had initially planned for, oh no, instead he was going to let the tyrant suffer as he would be helplessly left to bleed out on the floor. A fitting testament to someone who viewed himself to be superior to everyone else when he clearly wasn't.

Fortunately Megatron had just recently been taking a bath so he had clearly not been prepared for such a double cross. Not too surprising, really, since the tyrant wrongly presumed everyone feared him. He had always thought himself to be better.. smarter.. more brutal than anyone else. Zodiac had come to see these traits the first time the two of them spoke face to face, in these same quarters ironically when the shapeshifter had first revealed his true identity to the tyrant. There was a certain irony to the fact that it was going to end here as well.

Megatron, cornered against the wall, was well aware that he had nothing in his possession to use against Zodiac. His bullets from his beast mode’s claws that were mounted on his shoulders would do little to the shape shifter who could simply regenerate his pierced armor. And everything else in his grasp was metal which the pretender could just absorb. It would seem, for once in a long time, he was at a disadvantage. And as his optics followed the sword’s motions while his foe approached him, he surmised that the only way out of this was to take the puncture of the blade and allow Zodiac to get away. After all, his CR tank was right there, so all he would have to do is jump in to repair himself. Again.

The sharp tip of the blade touched his abdomen, and then Zodiac added more pressure. He was slow of course; Megs would have performed the stabbing the same way on him had their roles been reversed. He was still despite the sharpness beginning to pain him. He maintained his glare and kept his optics on his clone instead of watching the blade sink further into him. By now he had dropped his hands to his side while the one kept dripping fluid on the floor and throbbing.

“Have I?” Megatron replied with a cold tone. “After all, I am not a magician,” he corrected him despite the analogy he just used to compare his seemingly incredible tricks and escapes from death. The Predacon leader was forced to lift his chin as Zodiac’s spikes came to his neck. He swallowed, and he strained a little to keep his angry gaze on him considering the angle of his head now. How did he let it come to this? Although he’d never admit it, he was in a really bad situation at that moment. And it was about to get worse. Megatron inhaled just before the largest of the sharp weapons started to pierce him. Feeling it sting at first as his armor cracked and then penetrated inside of him, he exhaled and closed his optics. It was, indeed, extremely painful. And with his spikes still keeping his head tilted up, there was no comfortable position he could tamper with to help him cope. He groaned as he could feel the sword slide further into him, the blade severing wires and tubes and stripping some gears. His jaws were clenched as he bared his chrome teeth trying not to give Zodiac the satisfaction of him crying out in anguish. Then the blade started to twist, and Megatron balled his fists, banging them against the wall. Fluid began seeping out of the wound around the sword down his pelvis and then trickling down his leg. His body trembled, not that he wanted it do, but there was a lot of pain being processed by his sensors that his internal computer couldn’t divert anywhere else. He exhaled deeply again and coughed even though the spikes at his neck granted him very little movement or else they would stab him as well.

Zodiac, while maintaining Megatron's form, smiled quite viciously as he kept applying pressure to the long sword, forcing it to penetrate ever deeper into the tyrant's abdomen. The spikes on his arm did a fairly good job at encouraging the Predacon leader to stay put and not attempt escape, or he would surely be bleeding out all the quicker. Abdominal wounds were, after all, a relatively slow way to die. Which is exactly what the renegade wanted to achieve.

He wanted the tyrant to suffer, much the same way he had been made to suffer at the hands of Cryotek, Nexus Prime, the lot of them. They were all going to pay, starting with Megatron, and when he returned to Cybertron in the future but at a stage prior to the Predacons fleeing to Earth the shapeshifter was going to have the pleasure of doing it all again. On the irony..

Upon noticing the tyrant refusing to cry out in the agonizing pain he was surely feeling right now, the pretender tilted his head and gritted his teeth as he applied more pressure to speed the process up a bit. Such futile show of pride.. The stubborn fool. Even Nexus Prime had cried out at the end. Well, by then it had been more like a whimper. Pathetic. "You know.. After we're done here, I might just stay in your form and rule the Predacons as my own," the renegade told the tyrant in cold, calculated words meant to provoke and break his spirit down.

A deep growl erupted in Megatron’s throat. Oh, how he desired to tear his clone’s head off and toss his body into the lava! Then they would finally be done with this pathetic, jealous, and juvenile that had been wreaking havoc on both factions for far too long now! But the sword... By the Pit, the pain was excruciating. He wanted to hunch over and cross his arms over the deep wound on his abdomen but he couldn’t, not without those long needles penetrating his neck. Megatron thought he despised the shape shifter before, but now he loathed him to the point of clamping his beast mode’s jaws around his chest and shedding him apart, crushing his spark once and for all. He would terminate him since Primal obviously didn’t have the guts to do it! It was his fault that Zodiac showed up there in the first place, so once he was done thrashing the shape shifter, he would return his hunger for death on Optimus.

Zodiac’s last words really infuriated Megatron. It wasn’t because he cared about his Predacons, it was because he refused to allow anyone to impersonate him and ruin his reputation. So, Megatron finally gave in in hopes to lower Zodiac’s guard, no matter how briefly, and he hollered out in agony. What he was going to do next was going to really, really hurt. While the Predacon leader was not a fan of pain, unlike the real Rampage, he was also not a fan of dying, certainly not by the likes of this cretin. So, he immediately used his arm to thrust it at Zodiac’s with the spikes at his neck, and then he went to reach for the pretender’s hand that was holding the sword’s handle. But instead of trying to pull the blade out, which would be futile, he pushed it in further and quicker while screaming in his clone’s face from the anguish and feeling the sword sliding right through his body. Fortunately it was not near his heavily protected spark. At the same time, he lifted one of his feet and planted the bottom of it against the wall behind him to use it as leverage as he pushed himself off of it and lunged his entire body at Zodiac.

Zodiac smugness grew when the tyrant finally gave in and verbalized his pain with a holler. "That's more like it," he told the wounded male as way of praise, if one could even call it that. And for a moment, Zodiac stopped applying pressure to the sword and gave Megatron a chance to take a breath. That flickering moment was short lived, however, as Megatron did something most surprising. Despite the imminent danger he was in and the spikes pushing against his neck to discourage any such movements, the tyrant suddenly thrust his hand out to force his own spiked arm away. The shapeshifter growled and retracted the spikes, only to stop in his tracks when he noticed Megatron actually assisting with pushing the sword in through his abdomen.

And within a moment, the crazed Predacon leader managed to lunge at the shapeshifter, using his entire body weight as a weapon in an attempt to tackle him to the ground. Unable to hold on to the sword with such a brute force coming at him, Zodiac dropped the weapon and it remained plunged through Megatron's body. Unwilling to give the tyrant any chance to actually pin him, the shapeshifter immediately twisted sideways in an attempt to avoid the raging warrior's attack. While physically Megatron could still be stronger than the renegade, he was also wounded, bleeding, and his movements would no doubt be slowed as a result. So all the renegade had to do was avoid getting trapped and he would still win this encounter.

The warlord’s retaliation was a success! To a degree. At least it managed to get him away from him, but since Zodiac avoided his tackle, Megatron landed on the floor with a loud thud on his hands and knees, the sword still protruding from his abdomen. He breathed heavily facing the floor as the fluid dripped quicker now from the sword’s handle and began puddling below him. His wounded hand smeared blood across the metal flooring as well.

Refusing to yield in this fight, he slowly pushed himself up to a kneeling position and glared at his clone. Bleeding and labored breathing, his abdomen pounded and throbbed. His internal wiring felt twisted and coiled around the blade, he wrapped his good hand around the handle and yanked it out of him. Megatron gave out a short but loud cry in doing so, but he held up the blade in a defensive manner while the leak from the deep stab went from a trickle to a steady stream. He was losing fluid and energon quickly.

For the briefest of moments, the shapeshifter seemed to hesitate. Megatron's resilience had caught him off guard and the last thing he needed was an enraged tyrant managing to get a hold of him. But as he looked down at the bleeding mess kneeling on the floor, his gasps for air, and his movements anything but steady, it occurred to the renegade that his plan was indeed succeeding.

The smile returning to his face, Zodiac crouched down to be at eye level with the tyrant. He stayed at a relatively safe distance, of course, not being quite the fool Megatron had mistaken him for, but he still wanted to be close enough for the dying Predacon leader to hear him. "An impressive show of strength, I admit, but ultimately little more than futile. You will die here," he said, his voice calm, almost soothing in a sense.

"It's over, Megatron."
And with those words, he stood up and started moving around the tyrant to avoid the giant blade he was now trying to defend himself with. His hand started shimmering as he walked, materializing a sharp dagger to finish the job.

Megatron gave him a sneer while he crouched down to his level. He wasn’t going to expire like this! But since he didn’t have the energy to continue fighting, he opted not to retort. It would have been in Megatron’s best interest to allow him to leave in order for him to save himself or call for help once the threat retreated.

Each cough made the t-rex cringe in anguish, and each breath expanded and deflated his chest. Megatron’s optics followed Zodiac as he stood and began walking around him, noticing his hand shimmering. Now what was he up to? He tried turning his head as far as he could to keep an optic on his intentions since it would be too much for him to move his entire body in the fatally wounded state it was in.

One day, he would be able to say those words to Zodiac, and he would celebrate greatly in doing so.

Zodiac moved all the way around Megatron, but instead of attacking him again, at least immediately, he maneuvered over to the cryo tank located only a short distance away from the tyrant. Once there, he turned to glance at the wounded Predacon with a slight grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"I hope you weren't counting on this to save you," he told the tyrant before suddenly plunging his dagger-hand into the control console of the cryo tank, sinking the weapon deep enough into the circuitry to cause sparks and smoke to appear. And moments later the tank went dark, no longer functional.

He then yanked his blade back and turned to the tyrant once more. Now there was only one thing left to do..

Very subtly, Megatron’s optics enlarged at Zodiac who damaged the controls to his personal repair. Blast him! If he could attack him and slice his head clean off of his neck, he would! Outraged, his breathing increased despite it being painful, and pulled himself up to his feet. He was hunched a little as he placed his torn hand over his abdomen’s wound to try and apply pressure to it, but it continued to bleed through his fingers that hardly functioned anymore after the spikes that ripped his hand apart. His purple lips curled both from the pain and anger. Now Megatron was in a lot of trouble, but he couldn’t just quit. He had to defend his life, his pride and his future conquest. Gripping the sword tightly, he held it before him ready to attempt to deflect his next attack even though the odds were not in his favor at all by this point.

The pure hatred was clearly visible in the tyrant's optics now and Zodiac couldn't help notice the way they followed his every movement, however slight. And somehow Megatron still had a bit of fight left in him, enough to force himself up on unsteady legs and held up the sword that had been impaling through his abdominal cavity mere moments before.

Zodiac eyed him with a certain sense of amusement flickering in his optics, but Megatron's gesture did get him to rematerialize his hand instead of the dagger. Clearly he wouldn't be able to perform the final stab to the back that he had planned to do and it would be foolishness to get into a sword fight against the heavy broadsword. So instead he raised his hands up a bit as he took a step away from the tyrant, in a seemingly innocent move. Of course that was all a game, as Megatron was about to realize. And just then his shoulder mounted cannons popped into place, targeting the tyrant for one final.. and deadly.. blow.

He only took a moment to admire the look on Megatron's face before he fired the weapon at his chest and midsection.

Indeed it was odd for the victim to be wielding the same blade that had penetrated him, even still smeared with his own mech fluid, but a stabbing or slicing might do better against the shape shifter than any of his energy weapons. Besides, he needed to reserve as much power as he could now. His tail gun wasn’t far from him on the floor but he wouldn’t have the speed to grab it and use it.

It was clear in his clone’s eyes that Zodiac was finding way too much amusement in Megatron’s suffering, obviously enjoying watching his life slipping away. Could it be possible that this was it for him? The hope for survival was beginning to dwindle. Or perhaps that his simply his consciousness staring to black out as he grew dizzy.

The real Megatron didn’t believe that the fake one was about to surrender or end his tirade on the leader when he watched him raise his hands and step away. No, he had something else planned for him. Maybe it was even his final move...

When Megatron realized what it was, he didn’t have time to turn his back to the onslaught of gun fire. He dropped the sword and was forced to move backwards back against the wall again as the bullets pummeled him. Smoke and steam started to rise from the heat and damage he was taking. He felt a bullet or two lodge themselves in the hole in his abdomen. Other shots hit his face and shoulders. Eventually Megatron fell to the floor on his chest and appeared to be unconscious as his body twitched. A pool of fluid slowly started to form from under his stomach as he laid there.

Zodiac only ceased his onslaught of shots when the tyrant finally collapsed on the floor in a heap of his own limbs, circuits and mech fluid. He stood there for a moment, watching for any signs of life or movement, and then slowly made his way closer to the tyrant so that he could retrieve his sword from the floor. "Oh don't worry, Megatron..," the renegade said as he took a step away from the still form. "I have no intention of taking over your life and your pathetic excuse of a band of misfits. My plans reach much further than that."

He smiled ever so slightly again, put his sword away, and made his way to the door. On the way he grabbed the spark still remaining in the contraption Megatron had placed it in. It was only a matter of time before one of Megatron's lackeys found him like this, and the shapeshifter needed to be well on his way before then. So he left the room, sealing Megatron inside to meet his end in his very own tomb.
"Quickstrike ta Nemesis,"
The avian female stirred from her light slumber upon hearing Quickstrike's voice come through the radio. Ugh.. Now what? Brushing her metallic feathers back, she waited a few nanoclicks before responding to the fuzor's hail. "Yes?"
"There ain't any Maximals out here. Are you sure you gave me the right coordinates?"
Uhm.. What?

"What are you talking about? I haven't talked to you since we acquired Rampage as an ally," she replied back hesitantly. It was true the fuzor wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so to speak, but this was just a new level of stupidity for him.

She couldn’t see, but the Fuzor’s expression was quite a confused one. Was she suffering from amnesia? “Uh, we were talkin’ with Rampage in the hall, and you ordered me ta go to this location ‘cause there were Maximals. So I’m tellin’ ya that you were mistaken and ya sent me our here fer no reason. Thanks fer wastin’ my time. I don’t suppose there’s a reward for bein’ dooped,” he said with disappointment as he referred to the reward that “she” had promised him.

“You know, Megatron ain’t gonna be happy about this. I knew I shouldn’t have listened to you! Now it’s my hide on the line!” Grumbling, Quickstrike started to head back the Darksyde.

Nemesis went silent after Quickstrike gave his explanation. What was he..? Then it dawned on her. Obviously she hadn't been the one to tell Quickstrike that fabricated story, which only really left one option. Well two if she believed Quickstrike was smart enough to come up with a cover story like this, but she seriously doubted he would stoop to such levels. And what would he have to gain from it anyway? No, the real culprit was a lot more sneaky than that.

Zodiac. It had to be. So he'd been at the Darksyde then, disguised as her, and talking to Rampage.. Yeah, she'd have to put an end to that quickly. "Nemesis to Megatron, we have a situation," she said as she opened a communication link to their leader. Upon not receiving a response immediately, she then asked in a more questioning tone; "Megatron?"

The Predacon tyrant played dead as he laid there as quietly as he could listening to Zodiac move around and brag about his plans until he finally exited his quarters. He needed help. Immediately. But who would he call? Someone he thought he could trust who wouldn’t take advantage of his current condition on Death’s door. Someone big enough to help him up or maneuver his large and heavy body. Someone who could protect him if Zodiac decided to return to make sure he perished. The best option that came to mind was Nemesis, and it was then when he heard her voice on his comm. link.

“Nemesis...” His voice was gargled and he had to take breaths between words. “My quarters... hurry... Zodiac...” He coughed and winced from the pain. He could feel his energy draining.

Megatron's voice sounded so garbled, so very different from his usual powerful self, that Nemesis didn't hesitate on the urgency of this matter. She immediately left her quarters, heading towards Megatron's to assist him any way she could. On the way, however, she also instructed the computer to search out any intruders. Much to her dismay, however, the computer reported back that it was unable to detect any. Well, she'd just have to worry about that later. First she had to get to their leader.

When she reached his quarters, she didn't knock or wait outside the door. Instead she promptly entered, only to find the room looking like a disaster had taken place. There was a trail of mech fluid on the floor, on the wall, and at the end of said trail was a still form. "Megatron!," she exclaimed and hurried over to him.

Megatron grunted as he pushed himself up only as far as getting his chest off of the floor, soaked in his own blood from his abdomen, when Nemesis had entered his room. He was relieved that she hadn’t run into the false Megatron instead who might have persuaded her to ignore his pleas and inadvertently leave him to die. Then again, if she hadn’t seen him, where could he have gone? He had a feeling that her urgent communication pertained to the shape shifter but he wasn’t sure how or why. And quite frankly, he didn’t care at that moment. They could address it later.

“Zodiac,” he said again looking up at her in his puddle of fluids and injuries. It was a very rare instance when Megatron would feel so vulnerable and weak and let anyone witness it within his control. “Damaged... my tank... Disguised as me... when he left. He took... Rampage’s spark...”

Nemesis frowned upon hearing Megatron's explanation while she helped hoist him up and support him so he could at least stand on his feet. His mech fluid was dripping still, some getting on her armor as well, but she didn't really care.

"Come on," she said as she started hauling the tyrant along to another cryo tank. The remaining ones may not be as decorated as the one in Megatron's chambers, but right now he needed one quite badly. She also pondered where Zodiac was off to now. While disguised as Megatron, he could virtually go anywhere within the base without anyone raising an optic ridge about it.
"The computer didn't pick up his signature so it's possible he already left, spark and all. But don't worry. We'll track him down for this."

Megatron's feet kept threatening to give out, so Nemesis had to drag him along as fast as she could towards the nearest functional cryo bath.

"Maybe he doesn't want to anymore?"
That was very unlikely. Zodiac was hell-bent on making Optimus suffer before taking his life. Despite his failed attempts thus far, he didn't think he was going to quit so easily.
"So I wasn't imagining things. I did sense something was missing from that room."
Sometimes Whitegrazer sounded more like a psychic to Rattrap than a Vok/Maximal Empath or whatever she saw herself as.
"When I traced the scent that Zodiac left, there was nothing, but I knew he must have taken something from that spot. There must have been an hidden compartment or pocket he created himself to hide that journal, but I wonder what that journal contains."
The rodent had agreed with the mare.
"Rhinox is right. You just focus on getting some rest. Calm your mind. Relax your body." "Rhinox and I will take good care of Aurora, and I have confidence in Rattrap and Blackarachnia that they will be able to handle Zodiac. If something does go wrong though, Rhinox and I will will do what we can to help, as you are repairing and resting."
The warmth of Whitegrazer's hand on the side of his face, as well as Aurora's embrace, lingered in the CR after Optimus had leaned into it and pressed his cheek against the mare's palm. He missed their intimacy, but it was his decision by putting distance between them ever since she admitted of being Vok origin. It had been a big deal to him and a big revelation after everything he and his Maximals had been through with those aliens. But now it was time to look beyond that and cherish Whitegrazer and everything she brought to their team. How silly of him to think that they couldn't trust her. For Primus' sake, Blackarachnia was now among their ranks, even if she didn't consider herself one of them, and she was probably the only one everyone else distrusted because of her Predacon programming, selfishness and sneaking around. So what was Optimus so afraid of with Whitegrazer?
"I apologize for not protecting you from that pain I felt with X. It came out of nowhere. It was like all my systems went into overload. The pain was so great that my spark probably reached out through the link by instinct." "It must have been horrible for you. I'm so sorry."
"There's no need... for you to apologize," Primal told her between breaths due to his injuries and exhaustion. "What doesn't kill us... makes us stronger." Of course, when he said that certain word about death, he couldn't help but think of Banshee which caused some sorrow to wash over his face again. And though the pain had, indeed, been excruciating when X's spark was spliced, the experience had unknowingly sought something else from his spark had yet to be understood or controlled, if it even could. He welcomed the quiet slumber inside of the CR while the repairs continued on his body and replenished his energon and fluids. He was fast asleep for most of the duration of his repair cycle.
"Aurora will be at the medical bay shortly. I think she wants to show Rattrap something."
"Alright," Rhinox said to Whitegrazer as they strolled to the medical bay. Entering the infirmary, he pointed to a machine and instructed her, "Prep the neuro scanner," while he went to the monitor and typed in a few commands, pressed buttons and flipped on switches. Then he went through their anatomy files and pulled up Aurora's schematics so he could get a better idea of what should be where and attached to what inside her petite and complicated head.
"Cool your attitude, rodent. If I really wanted to go into your room, you wouldn't know it. Besides, judging by the stench and the look of it, no self-respecting bot would even touch your room. Might get rabies or something."
That time Rattrap couldn't hold back a snicker, and he added to the she-spider, "If you ventured in dere, you'd never find yer way back out." Then he had stopped to think for a moment before saying with a devious grin, "You know what? Feel free ta come in any time." Ew, spiders and Predacon spiders! They made him quiver in disgust and paranoia.
"Rabbit..?,"
"Rat," Rattrap had playfully corrected Aurora's speech impediment. "I'm a rat. Ain't no rabbits in here, Aurora! At least try, would ya?" he winked as he teased her.
'With any luck, our thieving friend has been knocked out then',
"Huh. Good point," the Spy told the Fuzor after he read her writing. "Whether he is or was passed out, hopefully it bought us some time."
Perhaps he targeted you after what happened on the exploding mountain?,
"Maybe. After all, he sure does love hangin' to those grudges." Rattrap rolled his optics at thought of Zodiac and his tantrums. For all of his abilities, sometimes that guy acted like a child.
'Me too.'
Her agreement with his desire to throw a burning brick at Zodiac's face made him chuckle as he picture both of them performing it together.

'I have faith and I know you can do this,'

"Thanks, kid," he smiled in return even if he thought he was going to die.

'It doesn't hurt to have a few surprises in store though',

"Well, dat's the whole point ta havin' fun while takin' bad guys like him down."

'I don't sleep enough,'

Rattrap frowned a little at that message she had written on her chalk board. "Overactive mind, eh? Dat only works for me when I run my mouth too much," he laughed.
"Loganberry!,"
He looked down at her still panicking a little bit despite her wink up to him as he hanged from the ceiling. "Sure, loganberry! Strawberry, blueberry, snozzberry! Whatever! Just get me down!" he urged her. Of course, he was expecting a quick release which would have landed him on the floor on his skidplate quite hard, but surprisingly there was a tether to it and she lowered him slowly and calmly. As his feet touched the metal beneath him, he sighed with relief and composed himself pretending that the heights and the entire ordeal hadn't bothered him at all.

'Think you can find a use for it? It's a prototype but could use field testing..'

"Are you kiddin'?! You bet I can! Aurora, dis'll be perfect against Zodiac. If only I could slap one of these onta his mouth..." he thought mischievously. But even if he couldn't do that, he'd find some usefulness out of them for sure. "I got the gist of dese, I think, so you better catch up ta Rhinox and Whitegrazer so they can start helpin' ya. Okay? Nothin' else looks like it was touched in here," he assured her after giving his quarters one more look around before ushering her out ahead of him and closing the door behind them. "Now, all I gotta do is getta fix on yer chip, if it's still functioning. Ugh, and team up with Blackarachnia." He gave a shudder. Why, Optimus? Why? Why me? he thought. "Thanks, kid," Rattrap said when he gave her a quick hug. "I'll see ya when I get back." Even if he didn't think he would survive this mission, he still had to instill hope for her. But with her new toy, it gave him greater confidence in succeeding. With that, he took her new toys to test them out, put them in his subspace and returned to the bridge and to see if he could locate her I.D. chip.

Unfortunately, the Axalon's scanners could only trace it to its last known coordinates before it had been taken out of range. It was really strange to see her recognized on the sensors even though it was Zodiac and not her. At least the coordinates gave him an indication to which direction the shape shifter was heading and where to start tracking him. From there, he would be able to use his nose on his scent and his own internal scanners to pick up the chip as long as it was still active. And, as his luck would have it, it appeared as though he was heading straight Predacon HQ. Why he would do that, he didn't know and didn't care. Maybe he had a death wish. But he couldn't wait to tell Blackarachnia. "Hey, Spider," he hailed her on his comm. link. "Did ya find anythin'? And guess where we're headin' in search of Aurora's chip? I'll give ya a hint, it ain't Disney Land. Meet me outside." Rattrap moved to the platform of the lift to be lowered outside, and once he was on the dirt, he transformed to his beast mode as he waited for the black widow.

-----
"Come on,"
Megatron gave a loud huff of pain when Nemesis hoisted him to his feet, stretching his abdomen's wound where he had been impaled by Zodiac's sword as well as his bullets. He left a trail of fluid in the wake of their footsteps out of his quarters and down the corridor. His spark raced with his labored breathing and his body grew lethargic which made it more difficult for her to help him. He constantly stumbled and faltered in his steps, nearly throwing Nemesis off balance.
"The computer didn't pick up his signature so it's possible he already left, spark and all. But don't worry. We'll track him down for this."
"He... will pay dearly... for this," the injured tyrant swore in a deep, cold voice followed by some coughs.

Having finished their own repairs, Inferno was at his own station while Terrorsaur took notice of the two coming down the shadowy hallway and approached them to find out what was going on. Something was definitely wrong here. "Megatron?!" the TransMetal flying dinosaur exclaimed in disbelief at his wounds. "What the slag happened?!"

Half of Megatron's upper lip curled upward, partially bearing some of his teeth, and he turned his face away from Terrorsaur while he didn't bother to stop and chat clearly wanting nothing to do with him at that moment and hating the fact that he just witnessed him like this.

Taking notice of his reaction, Terrorsaur shifted his gaze to Nemesis instead for some answers while he walked with them. Whoever did this to Megatron was a saint sent from above. It was about time someone put him in his place. Maybe it was the new guy, Rampage, who had done this. Ha ha ha ha ha! Oh, such irony that would have been!

Once they finally reached an unoccupied CR tank, Megatron clambered in with every ounce of energy that he had left, and he looked to Nemesis with some gratefulness. "Nemesis... I am in your debt," he said, which was something not to be taken lightly. Megatron never placed himself in anyone's debt. However, that favor would be repaid whenever he saw fit. Naturally. "I want him... found... Nemesis. Dead or alive... Bring him to me," he demanded without his hate-filled optics wavering. And his order should satisfy her thirst of wanting to dismember the pretender herself after all of this time.
"Well, that's just prime!"

((OOC: I don't like my post, but I hope it works. If I can, I might add more. ))
"There's no need... for you to apologize," Primal told her between breaths due to his injuries and exhaustion. "What doesn't kill us... makes us stronger."
She saw Optimus' expression change. He probably was thinking about Banshee. She was too. She remained silence. She stepped back, letting the CR Chamber close and letting it start the repairs on Optimus as well as giving Optimus a chance to recover and rest from the events that had happened. He needed it more than anyone did.
"Alright," Rhinox said to Whitegrazer as they strolled to the medical bay. Entering the infirmary, he pointed to a machine and instructed her, "Prep the neuro scanner,"
"All right," she smiled and nodded. The necro scanner was stationed at the corner of the infirmary room. She pulled the contraception by the railing on small bed, which the recipient of the scanner would sit, and set up the monitor, which controlled and showed the results of the scan. She switched the scanner on, listening to its hum of life. The monitor turning on. She sat the lightweight cap down on the seat. "All right, now, all we have to do is wait for Aurora." She said as she stood back.

"Aurora, Rhinox and I have prepped the necro scanner. Come when ever you are ready."
"If you ventured in dere, you'd never find yer way back out." Then he had stopped to think for a moment before saying with a devious grin, "You know what? Feel free ta come in any time."

Blackarachnia crossed her arms with a smirk, "I'm a spider, rat. If we can't find our way out, we make our own. I hope you enjoy hidden tunnels underneath your floorboards." Her optics lit up. "Now, that doesn't sound like a bad idea."
"Hey, Spider," he hailed her on his comm. link. "Did ya find anythin'? And guess where we're headin' in search of Aurora's chip? I'll give ya a hint, it ain't Disney Land. Meet me outside."
"Nope, nothing else. Only the small compartment." She told Rattrap through the comm link as she got up and made her way towards the platform leading her outside. Once she met Rattrap outside, she transformed into her best mode. "So do we have an y idea where the shapeshifter is? Or are we just going to run around searching like a chicken with no head?"

"And one Megatron will never see coming,"
Rampage couldn't help but continuing to chuckle darkly at how delicious this whole situation was.
"Freaks of nature, or an improvement of it. Take it as you will,"
Rampage didn't really see himself as an improvement. After all, he was supposed to be a supersoldier, not a monster, and yet, he turned into the monster by the actions of the Maximal scientists, but at least, they got one thing right. He did cause waves of mass destruction. Just not in the way they had hoped, and not the targets they wished.
"But yes," the renegade then continued as he turned back to the crab, "Optimus was indeed very much so a part of my development as well. Not that it will matter much when we get back to Cybertron. When we get back there, we'll destroy their entire corrupt organization from within."
Rampage just smirked. He planned to do more than that. The ignorant masses of Cybertron, Maximal or Predacon or those who didn't tread on either side, were going to feel his pain just like Colony Omicron. Wrath and destruction wrought to them by their own leaders.
"I will do what I can to make this a smooth transition when I reclaim ownership of your spark for you," the shapeshifter agreed, "Albeit I can certainly promise Megatron will not be inclined to agree.. He will pay for what he has done."
Rampage rubbed his hands. Too bad he won't be able to see what kind of welcome that the shapeshifter planned to give Megatron once Megatron realized he wasn't him.
"With any luck she will be willing to partake in the mayhem as well," the shapeshifter added, giving the other crab a gesture that it was indeed time they parted ways for now. "I will be joining you shortly, as soon as I've acquired the things you desire."
"Oooo she undoubtedly would kill me if she didn't get her slice of destruction." As Rampage was about to move away, he gave one last look at his new friend. "Make it hurt." He smiled. Though, it was hard to tell from his crab face, but no doubt, Zodiac knew what he meant. Megatron deserved pain and torment for what he had done. Rampage just wished he was able to be there and do some himself.

Rampage had made his way to the coordinates Zodiac gave him. He transformed into his robot mode and jumped into the water, swimming towards the deep blue ocean until he saw the blackest sliver of a ship. The ship seemed to have dug itself into a trench, so he dug the ocean floor's sand away from the shpi. As he was doing this, his spark ached. Surged with agony. He was forced to stop his digging as he took a breather from the pain. Megatron must not have found out that he wasn't actually there. Hee hee. He imagined the look of shock on that purple tyrant's face inside his mind. He hoped for energon and mechfliud spilled for what he did to him and Nightstar! The pain ceased, and he continued on digging out the ship around the perimeter. Once it was finished, he transformed and took his big claws clapped down on the back of the ship and pulled it. Pulled it until he appeared on the surface, grunting, pulling with as much force as he could, which was massive, and slowly, the ship moved out of the water. He grinned audiotory receptor to audiotory receptor.

RPG Characters: Nemesis,Aurora,Zodiac

Hauling Megatron's barely conscious form through the halls to the nearest available cryo bath left the avian female struggling from time to time. The tyrant was quite heavy, barely able to carry his own weight from the excessive fluid loss he had suffered, and his armor was covered in his mech fluid which made him sticky and difficult to grasp. As they went, a trail of mech fluid trailed behind them. And Nemesis found herself eternally grateful for her own healing abilities during that long walk.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately all depending, the hallways were mostly empty since the other Predacons were only now starting to emerge from their own repairs and most hadn't returned to their stations just yet. The few they did encounter mostly stared at them, obviously shocked by what could possibly have happened. And truth be told, Nemesis wasn't entirely clear on all the details herself yet either.

What was obvious was that Zodiac had paid Megatron a visit. He must have been in disguise or the tyrant would surely not have lowered his guard so much as to give the shapeshifter the upper hand. Perhaps Megatron would explain the details when he had a chance to get repaired and wasn't just barely clinging to consciousness anymore. Although a few things she had been able to deduce from the little information the leader had provided, such as Zodiac taking Rampage's spark. How would he even have known about Rampage's weakness if he had not been talking to their newest, and somewhat unwilling, recruit? It was a question they might have to ask of Rampage himself.

"Computer, what is Rampage's location?," she demanded while they continued their seemingly endless walk. "Unable to locate unit Rampage."

So their new recruit had left the premises.. Why was she not surprised?

Megatron nearly stumbled, but Nemesis held on and prevented him from hitting the floor. As she placed the tyrant's arm around her neck, giving him some leverage to hold on, the male spoke up again in response to her earlier comment about finding Zodiac for what he had done.
"He... will pay dearly... for this,"
The female nodded slightly in agreement, her arm wrapped tightly around the tyrant's side to help support him.

"Dearly.. and agonizingly painfully," she added before the appearance of some other Predacons caused her to pause.
"Megatron?!" the TransMetal flying dinosaur exclaimed in disbelief at his wounds. "What the slag happened?!"
Nemesis sighed inwardly at the pterodactyl's tone. It wasn't out of concern for their leader that he had asked, they all knew it, and Megatron merely looked away with an irritated huff. Then Terrorsaur turned his attention to her for answers as they walked.

After a moment, Nemesis glanced over at her fellow flyer in return. "Make yourself useful and make sure security at the brig is tripled. If anyone attempts to approach the prisoner, and I mean anyone, apprehend them and bring them to us."

Her order may have seemed odd and out of place, but if Zodiac was helping Rampage it didn't seem unreasonable that the crab would want his love interest back as well. But if the two of them had formed some unholy alliance of sorts, what exactly was Zodiac hoping to gain from it? It seemed unlikely that the renegade would dare show his face here and attack Megatron for no reason other than to gain Rampage's favor. No, there had to be more to the story.

Finally arriving at the cryo bath, Nemesis helped Megatron to get situated. As the tyrant entered the healing, and no doubt soothing, bath, he looked at her and said some words she never expected of him.
"Nemesis... I am in your debt,"
The female resisted the urge to smile ever so slightly upon hearing that, finding the actual apparent gratitude to be a refreshing change from the usual tyrannical way Megatron ran his operations. It was a once in a lifetime occurrence, she was sure, but that didn't take anything away from how it felt at that moment.

But it was what Megatron said next that actually brought the smile to her face.
"I want him... found... Nemesis. Dead or alive... Bring him to me,"
"It will be my pleasure," she reassured him as he let his aching, wounded body settle in the tank. No sooner had Megatron done that before Nemesis, his still recently appointed second in command, turned her attention to the computer again, this time wanting to send a ship wide message to all the Predacons.

"Attention all Predacons; we have an intruder at the base. Be aware that he is able to change his form, but was last seen having taken the form of Megatron. You will all be transmitted a pass code you can and will use to identify your fellow Predacons. If anyone is found that does not respond correctly to this pass code, you are to obtain help to bring them down with any means necessary."

She paused before adding, "The more pain, the better." before inputting the pass code for the computer to transmit to all the Predacons within the base. And finally, not willing to take any chances even though the computer had informed her it did not pick up any signals from the traitorous changeling, she made one last command to the Predacons in the base. "The Darksyde is currently under lockdown. Nobody comes and nobody leaves until the intruder has been located and apprehended."

(ooc: Just make something up for the pass code. :p)
"I'm a rat. Ain't no rabbits in here, Aurora! At least try, would ya?"
"Rustic paint!," Aurora had replied with a somewhat rude tongue gesture to back it up to make it obvious that she was teasing him right back. But his little moment of teasing her about her speech didn't take away from their time trying out her new gadget.
"Huh. Good point," the Spy told the Fuzor after he read her writing. "Whether he is or was passed out, hopefully it bought us some time."
Well.. they would find out soon enough. But Aurora was still more than a little scared about Rattrap going out on this mission. With or without help from Blacharachnia. Sure, the rodent was tough and could hold his own, but the guy they were up against was so unpredictable, with a terrible mean streak, and abilities the rest of them just couldn't hold up against.

Keeping that in mind, the fuzor placed the chalk back on her board and wrote another advice down on it.

'Don't forget to bring a bug zapper'.

And by that she obviously meant some electric weapon like a taser since they already knew that was a weakness they could exploit.
"Maybe. After all, he sure does love hangin' to those grudges."
Aurora nodded in agreement, briefly wondering what the shapeshifter would do if he ever ran out of people to hold grudges against. His abilities held so much potential, and he was spending it on trying to get revenge?
"Thanks, kid,"
The little fuzor dared to smile a bit as she wrapped her arms around the rodent in a comforting hug. It seemed neither one of them was looking forward to this mission.
Well, dat's the whole point ta havin' fun while takin' bad guys like him down."
Bad guys like him.. Unfortunately, as Aurora had come to realize, there were a number of these 'bad guys' that they were up against. Megatron being the biggest and baddest of them all. But fortunately Megatron was rarely as direct in his approaches.

She broke off the hug to write on the chalk board for a moment, but remained close to him regardless.

'If you do succeed, we'll have to make some alterations to our brig. Cemented walls with force fields maybe?'

Her print was considerably smaller to be able to fit all that on the board, but it was something she was considering putting in place. The virus had worked well, but without any more raw material she wouldn't be able to make any more. But perhaps a simpler solution like making the walls brick instead of metal could be enough, with a few extra additions of course.
"Overactive mind, eh? Dat only works for me when I run my mouth too much,"
Aurora nodded, tapping the chalk on the board again. She'd have to find a new stick soon as this one was starting to wear down.

'That.. and I don't like to dream much. Haunting memories return in them,' she wrote next, a bit more somberly. It was true enough. In her young life she had experienced too many traumatic events, and in her dreams she couldn't control her fleeting thoughts.

Rattrap's reaction when she demonstrated the true purpose of the bands was priceless. And at that time she could tell why the rodent had picked a rat instead of something with wings. His endless squirming and frantic speech made it obvious.
"Sure, loganberry! Strawberry, blueberry, snozzberry! Whatever! Just get me down!"
So she did let him down, using the built in tether in the device to do so. And within moments Rattrap was safely back on the ground.
"Are you kiddin'?! You bet I can! Aurora, dis'll be perfect against Zodiac. If only I could slap one of these onta his mouth..."
Now that would have been quite funny!

'And the other part on Megatron's skid plate?,' the fuzor suggested with a wink.
"I got the gist of dese, I think, so you better catch up ta Rhinox and Whitegrazer so they can start helpin' ya. Okay? Nothin' else looks like it was touched in here,"
Catching up with Rhinox.. That meant getting to work on her neurological deficit. Which wasn't something she looked forward to still. However, being unable to talk wasn't a tolerable solution either. So Aurora didn't protest too much when Rattrap proceeded to usher her out the door.

"Now, all I gotta do is getta fix on yer chip, if it's still functioning. Ugh, and team up with Blackarachnia."
'Good luck!," Aurora wrote on the board and returned his hug. She meant it.. with every component of her body. Even the missing identification one.
"Thanks, kid,""I'll see ya when I get back."
She smiled, as bravely as she could, tracking his movements with her optics as he made his way to the outside. Then she let out a sigh.

"Aurora, Rhinox and I have prepped the neuro scanner."

Whitegrazer's voice suddenly appeared within her spark and head alike, extracting another slight sigh from the fuzor. No, she had faith in Rhinox. He knew what he was doing and he wouldn't even be doing this if he didn't believe he could manage.

"I'm on my way," Aurora responded to Whitegrazer as she started on her way to meet up with them. She tried, and failed, at hiding her hesitation. Not that it mattered. The white mare had the uncanny ability to read all their emotions like it was on full display. And truthfully, the fuzor was a little scared of having this procedure done. Of course she was! It wasn't as if she'd ever had brain surgery done before.

A few moments later she entered the infirmary room where the others were waiting, taking a moment to survey the equipment, before walking over to the bed and sitting down. She then picked up the helmet like neuro scanner, looked at it for another second, before placing it on her head.

"I'm ready," she told Whitegrazer via their link, slowly easing into position on the bed, before finally giving Rhinox the 'thumbs up' gesture.

Meanwhile the fake Megatron had been helping himself to a few items from the armory. It wasn't as if any Predacons, had he encountered any, would dare question their leader for entering there. There weren't a lot of weapons that he was overly interested in there, but he did find a flamethrower he liked. But since it would be very uncharacteristic of the real tyrant to wander about the base with such a device, the pretender had simply placed his hand on it and let his nanomachines stream out of his digits, taking the device apart and absorbing the parts needed into his own system. After all, what good was a dragon without the ability to breathe fire?

Afterwards, as he was preparing to leave to meet up with Rampage, he could not help but notice the added commotion outside the door. Predacons were rushing down the corridors, emergency lights were blinking, and the monotone voice of the computer kept repeating that the base was under lock down procedures.

Well.. Just great. This certainly complicated his escape a little bit. More than likely some witless Predacon had found Megatron's remains and they were now panicking. Not too surprising, really, but it did leave the shapeshifter with little choice than to wait the worst of it out until he could safely escape. After all, he was not aware of the tunnels running underneath the base that the spiders and also Rampage frequented whenever they wanted to get out unnoticed. For a while he had pondered honoring Rampage's request to free his girlfriend, but that was obviously not happening now.

Zodiac tried his best to avoid any of the Predacons roaming in the hallways as he made his way back to the hiding spot he had been using before. Before entering, he ditched his Megatron form for that of the Maximal fuzor Aurora. She was small enough to be able to pass through the vents unnoticed, and quite frankly she looked about as intimidating as a furry rodent. It was unlikely that any Predacons would shoot him on sight in that form if they were to discover him. Yeah, he would simply stay hidden until the worst of the chaos had subsided and the Predacons started arguing about which one of them was fit to step into their dear departed Megatron's boots. At which point he could easily slip away and meet up with Rampage, who had hopefully gotten the ship on land by now.

"Rustic paint!,"
The rodent had smirked at Aurora's words along with her gesture. He might have actually started to enjoy this speech impediment she had now, but he still very much wanted her back to being herself again. At least it seemed as though her spirits had been lifted after her entire ordeal from Zodiac.
'Don't forget to bring a bug zapper'.
"Hey, you know it, sista," he agreed as he gave her a thumbs up. "I'm always carryin' one on me now. But thanks for the reminder." What would they do without her?
'If you do succeed, we'll have to make some alterations to our brig. Cemented walls with force fields maybe?'
"What do you mean 'if' I succeed?" he rhetorically asked her with an offended tone. But he grinned and ruffled her still dirty lock of fur on her head. "You know what? I was thinkin' de same thing about dat. Ask Optimus and Rhinox about it an' get some details for a plan on materials we can integrate. And we'll start workin' on it right away. You really do have a brilliant brain, Aurora." And she was wise beyond her years as well.
'That.. and I don't like to dream much. Haunting memories return in them,'
That confession on her chalk board made him frown a bit. Rattrap hadn't really considered how little she slept and why. For someone as young as she was, she had certainly been through a lot. Especially several deaths that obviously had affected her in one way or another. He had as well but he was older and often left the past in the past when it came to traumatizing events; he didn't care to relive them if he could help it. It seemed as though nothing really haunted the TransMetal rat except for maybe creepy spiders wandering around in their base of operations. But he rarely suffered from nightmares or sleepless nights. "Have you talked ta Whitegrazer about dat? I'm sure she could help you with all her experience and wisdom," he suggested to Aurora. He would've liked to help her himself, but he clearly wasn't the therapist type. He'd rather leave that to the Vokish mare and perhaps Big Green.
'And the other part on Megatron's skid plate?,'
Rattrap laughed out loud at the quip she wrote on her board. "Great idea!" She was full of them even with her sense of humor.
'Good luck!,"
The Spy had waved in return to her message in chalk and gave her another thumbs up as he said, "You too, kid!" He knew she would be fine, especially in Rhinox and Whitegrazer's care. If he could have it his way, he'd rather undergo surgery instead of shipping himself off to a dangerous mission with a dangerous Predacon watching his back, but such was his luck. At least he was armed with great tools and weapons, if he had to use them. He hoped not. He sure was going to miss that Fuzor's company, though.

-----
"I'm a spider, rat. If we can't find our way out, we make our own. I hope you enjoy hidden tunnels underneath your floorboards." "Now, that doesn't sound like a bad idea."
"Teh! Don't bother, she-spider," Rattrap had retorted. "I already got an elaborate network of tunnels around dis place," he boasted, hopefully encouraging her to not start digging tunnels because that would just make more work for him.
"Nope, nothing else. Only the small compartment."
Good. ...As long as she was telling the truth. He certainly didn't trust her. Hearing her scampering about after she reverted to her beast mode and met up with him outside of the base, he traded his silver paws for his wheels and revved his engine.
"So do we have an y idea where the shapeshifter is? Or are we just going to run around searching like a chicken with no head?"
"Well, you can run around and waste time gettin' lost so you don't bother me with yer eight eyes starin' at my back," Rattrap half joked, "But it looks like he was headin' back ta yer old stompin' grounds with yer hot-head pals at the Snark-syde. We'll have to check out de last coordinates where Aurora's chip was located an' go from dere. And, no, you ain't gettin' a free ride with me," he hissed a little, albeit softly, at her before driving off. However, just to be responsible so he wouldn't get in trouble later with the boss monkey, Rattrap kept his speed just slow enough for her to keep up with her creepy, long, eight legs.

------
"All right, now, all we have to do is wait for Aurora."
Rhinox nodded at Whitegrazer. While he ran the automated calibrations for the machine that she also help set up, he swung another monitor over with Aurora's schematics that the CR had failed to recognize because of her absent chip and then wheeled over a table with his tools. The neurological scan would help give him a comparison of what's wrong and possibly what's missing from her inside of her. He grabbed a visor that gave him additional digital magnification so that he could zoom in inside of the hole on her head and navigate with his hands and medical devices with ease and attached it to his forehead. Tiny cameras on the ends of some of his tools would help with the more precise splicing and welding and whatever else he might to have do at an almost microscopic level.

When they saw Aurora walk in, the engineer smiled in hopes of giving off a peaceful and warm environment in case she was nervous. Fortunately, she appeared to be in a positive mood all things considered that had transpired that day; more importantly what had personally happened to her. The smaller Maximal stepped over to the neuro-scanner, sat down, and placed the device on her head. Giving Rhinox the thumbs up as an indicator that she was ready, he said in his deep but friendly voice, "Perfect. Now, just try to lay still and breathe normally. This won't hurt, it's just going to scan your neurons, energon and transponders so it can map out the inside of your head and hopefully give me a clear and concise comparison to the data we already have on file. It could be something as simple as a disconnected wire." As much as he hoped for that to be the case, things were almost never that easy.

"Whitegrazer, you can keep communicating with her to help her remain calm. Hold her hand if she'd like you to," he suggested before looking back down at Aurora.

"Just keep as still as you can. Ready?" he asked the ermine Fuzor. He then pressed a button to activate the scanner which began reading everything that was firing off inside of her head electronically and on a neurological level. He glanced at the readings as they were being recorded and the status of the scanner on one of the monitors while it continued reading her. "Now, try to speak a whole sentence," he instructed her softly so that the machine might pick up what was going wrong where with her miscommunication.

"Computer, what is Rampage's location?,"
Megatron heard Nemesis' voice next to him and eagerly awaited the computer's answer. If Zodiac had been disguised as Rampage, then where was the real crab this entire time? Were they working together now? Or was Zodiac simply using him for his own scheme similar to Megatron's reasoning for taking half of his spark? He was certain that Rampage wouldn't bother teaming up with anyone after what Megatron had done to him unless Zodiac had something of great value to offer him; like returning his spark to him. But what Rampage could give him in return, well, he hadn't the slightest idea. The fact that Zodiac had stolen the other half of his spark from the tyrant after he had worked so hard to carve it out of the crab's shell was enough to push Megatron over the edge, and he wanted it back immediately, along with that conniving, manipulative shape shifter!
"Unable to locate unit Rampage."
The Predacon leader managed to growl deeply in his throat before he started coughing again. Blast it all! He had everything, and just like that, it was taken right out of his clutches!
"Dearly.. and agonizingly painfully,"
He knew Nemesis would agree. Thus far, simply by helping Megatron and not taking advantage of his extremely weakened state, she had practically regained his trust in her. Now, if she could succeed in bringing Zodiac's head to him as well as Rampage's spark, then he may never question her loyalty again. Maybe.
"Make yourself useful and make sure security at the brig is tripled. If anyone attempts to approach the prisoner, and I mean anyone, apprehend them and bring them to us."
Of course. If Zodiac had made a pact with Rampage, the crab most assuredly would want his accomplice to be with him. Nemesis' thought processes were impressive. ...Almost too impressive for his liking. While he liked his Predacons dumb enough to follow his every order without questioning him, he supposed he benefited from an intelligent one once in a while. After all, while he would be out of commission for some time, who would keep his troops in line and dish out the orders to make sure that the Predacons would stay on top in this war? Certainly not Terrorsaur. He had proven to be sloppy and too eager in the past which lead to carelessness and defeat. And Inferno, as loyal as he was, was too incompetent to lead and actually be successful. It seemed all he had was Nemesis.

Terrorsaur narrowed his optics briefly at Nemesis in retaliation but he quickly obliged as he remembered that it would be best to cooperate than to fight for her position considering how vulnerable Megatron was at the moment and how much he wanted to take advantage of the situation. "Fine," he said as he attempted to keep the irritation out of his tone, and he gave Megatron one more glance at his bloody and beaten body before turning away from them and jogging down the corridor making his way to the brig.

The pain was nearly impossible to bear at this point, causing him to groan a bit, and Megatron's consciousness was fading in and out even though he was soaking in the CR tank now. He refused to relieve himself of his commanding position until he was aware of what Nemesis had planned. The cryo liquid started to transition into the color of his blood from his wounds; specifically the puncture in his abdomen that was bleeding out so badly. But it gradually began to clear as the tank quickly started to extract the bullets inside of him, meld the holes to stop the leaks and slowly begin replenishing his lost fluids and energon.
"It will be my pleasure,"
Excellent. Looking up at her and seeing the desire in her smile reassured Megatron that she would do whatever it took to bring that Pretender in and make him suffer. Although it might be trickier now if Rampage was working with him. And the Predacon dictator no longer had the means to control the TransMetal crab. I need that spark back, he thought bitterly.
"Attention all Predacons; we have an intruder at the base. Be aware that he is able to change his form, but was last seen having taken the form of Megatron. You will all be transmitted a pass code you can and will use to identify your fellow Predacons. If anyone is found that does not respond correctly to this pass code, you are to obtain help to bring them down with any means necessary." "The more pain, the better." "The Darksyde is currently under lockdown. Nobody comes and nobody leaves until the intruder has been located and apprehended."
"Well... done... Nemesis," the wounded tyrant expressed between breaths of anguish.

"Why are we not being directed by the Royalty himself?" Inferno questioned over the female's transmission. He was more curious than suspicious.

Growing impatient with the ant due to the stress that his body was currently under, Megatron snapped back at him over his own comm. link, "Do not... question Nemesis' orders... Inferno! I am taking... a temporary... leave of absence, and leaving her... in command. Do I make... myself clear?"

"Yes, Royalty," the pyro quickly responded. Confusion and disappointment was evident in his voice but he would obey. As much as he wanted to know what exactly was going on and why Megatron sounded so exasperated, he dared not push the matter further since he blindly followed his Queen's leadership and judgments.

"That's better," Megatron replied in a lighter tone. He moved a little bit in the tank for a more comfortable position, grumbling and groaning under his breath from the pain.

"Do not fail me... Nemesis," he added as the deep breaths between his words started to fade during his repair cycle.

Meanwhile, Quickstrike had just arrived back at the Darksyde only to receive Nemesis' message and the passcode. Now he was even more confused than he was earlier after speaking to her. In his robot mode, he scratched his head with his cobra's mouth and shrugged while he strolled through the corridors and headed to their command center.
"Well, that's just prime!"

((OOC: I do that. Oh, Phoenix, I wanted to apologize, when it was my turn to post after you posted and you and OOP posted a joint post, I didn't realize I forgot to have Whitegrazer respond to what Aurora said. Read it, than I got distracted, and somehow, silly me, I forgot to respond to it, and I thought I did. Ugh. So sorry about that. I didn't realize it until just now as I was looking over old post. That was my bad. ))
"I'm on my way,"
Whitegrazer could feel Aurora's anxiety over this scan and this procedure. It is understandable for her to feel that way.
"I'm ready,"
As Aurora walked inside and placed the cap on her head, Whitegrazer went over to her, "We are here for you, Aurora." She smiled at the white ermine. Rattrap and Blackarachnia have probably left by now, in search for Zodiac and Aurora's identification chip, and hopefully, Zodiac didn't destroy it, especially if he might need it again, or would he? Zodiac's motives now are in question. What was he planning on doing? What was in Nexus Prime's journal that he needed so badly? Also why bother getting bottles from Rattrap's quarters? Maybe that wasn't important, but some part of her believed it to be, even if it was such a small and seemingly insignificant detail. Well, she hoped Rattrap and Blackarachnia could find out and returned home safely. A part of her hoped that Zodiac could be captured alive. Despite what Zodiac has done, she didn't wish him death. She didn't approve of what he has done in his quest for revenge towards Optimus nor his desire to kill Optimus. But she realized she needed to focus on one thing right now: Aurora.
"Perfect. Now, just try to lay still and breathe normally. This won't hurt, it's just going to scan your neurons, energon and transponders so it can map out the inside of your head and hopefully give me a clear and concise comparison to the data we already have on file. It could be something as simple as a disconnected wire."
She nodded, "With this scan, we will be able to figure out the proper solution to administer. "
"Whitegrazer, you can keep communicating with her to help her remain calm. Hold her hand if she'd like you to,"
She held Aurora's hand, which was tinier compared to her hands, and took a second to think about something that wasn't too stressful and something that keep her calm yet occupied. "So what was it that you wanted to show Rattrap?"

"Teh! Don't bother, she-spider," Rattrap had retorted. "I already got an elaborate network of tunnels around dis place,"
"Really? And I suppose those tunnels are full with all kinds of garbage and stinky junk?" Blackarachnia could just image all kinds of things that rodent could be hiding in those tunnels. Part of her was curious, but other part of her was telling her to not touch it with a ten-feet pole.
And, no, you ain't gettin' a free ride with me,"
"Where were those last coordinates?" Blackarachnia asked, running to catch up with the two-wheeled rat. "Because depending on those coordinates, and if Zodiac was heading towards the Darksyde, then I might know a way we can spy on my former comrades and see what terror or mischief that shapeshifter is plotting."

Tarantulas had returned to bridge and checking out the sensors when he heard an announcement from Nemesis of all people.
Taking Megatron's form? Tarantulas looked at the passcode that Nemesis transmitted to him. Hmph. What was going on? Tarantulas left the bridge and went to his room. even though most of his equipment was back at his new place, there was still a few thing he left around, just in case he stuck at the Darksyde for a time. Tarantulas hacked the feed, searching through the camera feeds. He saw something odd with Rampage, seemingly talking to someone who he couldn't identify due to how the camera was pointed. He switched it until he saw Megatron... being severely, brutally, deliciously beaten by Rampage, but it wasn't Rampage, since Megatron used the box but it wasn't working. That must have been Zodiac. He couldn't help by enjoy the little display. He always wanted this to happen to Megatron, and he re-recorded the footage for his own twisted entertainment. For whenever he felt bummed out. He really needed it after failing to re-capture Blackarachnia and tear her processor apart to gain the knowledge she got from Megatron.
"The Darksyde is currently under lockdown. Nobody comes and nobody leaves until the intruder has been located and apprehended."
Like that would keep Tarantulas inside this dreary base. Tarantulas headed for his tunnels. He returned to his new home. He must know what was going on.

(ooc: No worries, Una, it wasn't anything uber important anyway. )
"Hey, you know it, sista," he agreed as he gave her a thumbs up. "I'm always carryin' one on me now. But thanks for the reminder."
Aurora had returned the rodent's confirmation with a genuine smile. Of course she was still worried about him going after someone as dangerous and unpredictable as the renegade shape shifter had turned out to be, but if anyone knew how to get out of a tough situation it was Rattrap. Time and time again the rodent had proven his usefulness to the crew, even going as far as to take command on more than one occasion. It wasn't that he enjoyed it, of course, that much was obvious to anyone who knew how Rattrap operated, but behind the sarcastic comments, rough edges, and affinity for junk, was a Maximal just as caring and in most cases braver than a majority of others.

Albeit where Optimus extended that caring nature to just about every creature he came across, the rodent was quite a bit more selective on whom he chose to care about. Still, Aurora certainly didn't mind his weariness around Predacons. There were times Primal actually came across as almost a bit naive, always willing to give just about anyone a second chance. Well, almost anyway. Surely there were limits to even Optimus' patience.

It was good to know that Rattrap was prepared for this mission. But until he had returned to the Axalon, in one piece, with or without his objective completed, Aurora was still going to worry about him..

She responded by giving him a thumbs up in return, not wanting to have to put all of her concerns and thoughts about all of this down on the chalk board. Rattrap already knew how she felt, how could he not?
"What do you mean 'if' I succeed?"
Opening her mouth and quickly closing it again upon realizing she wouldn't be able to verbalize a response appropriately, Aurora couldn't do much but try to brush his hand away as he started messing up her already dirty and messy fur.

"Sunrise!," she proclaimed finally, when the fur was hanging down in her face and preventing her from seeing him. Then she made a couple of attempts to move the fur out of her eyes before partially succeeding. But as soon as she turned her head a bit to look at him again, the locks of fur fell right back to where they had been. Wow, she really needed that shower soon..
"You know what? I was thinkin' de same thing about dat. Ask Optimus and Rhinox about it an' get some details for a plan on materials we can integrate. And we'll start workin' on it right away. You really do have a brilliant brain, Aurora."
So Rattrap kept telling her. Truthfully she didn't feel very smart. As a matter of fact she was constantly feeling like there was so much more she needed to learn and do, thus why she was always tinkering with something. It wasn't that she thought she was dumb either, but Aurora wasn't really one to seek glory or recognition for everything she did. Still.. she appreciated his kind words and they did bring another smile to her face, messy fur in face and all..

Having resorted to attempting to blow the annoying fur out of her face, Aurora glanced at the rodent as she pressed the small remaining piece of chalk to the board.

'I'll talk to Rhinox about it as soon as he fixes my little issue. Don't worry.'

After showing him the text, she quickly erased it with her arm, where the furry patches were barely recognizable as white anymore.

'Just come back in one piece,' she added to the board next, really wanting to make sure Rattrap didn't doubt her feelings about this whole thing for even a nanoclick.
"Have you talked ta Whitegrazer about dat? I'm sure she could help you with all her experience and wisdom,"
The fuzor thought for a moment and then shook her head slowly to let him know she hadn't brought it up to Whitegrazer's attention. At least not yet. Perhaps that was another thing she should talk to the taller, older female about. It had just been so chaotic lately, she didn't get much of a chance to just talk about stuff like that. Hopefully the worst was over now and this would change soon.

'But I will,' she then promised via the chalk board.

Rattrap laughed at her little joke at the expense of those sneaky Predacons. And albeit she was only kidding, it did sound like an interesting and fun idea now that she thought about it more. Well, a silly one, but fun regardless.

They parted ways with him giving her another thumbs up gesture of encouragement, a gesture she repeated after joining up with Rhinox and Whitegrazer and placing the neuro scanner helmet on herself. It wasn't that she didn't understand what was about to happen or why Rhinox wanted some visual assistance, but it still felt peculiar being on the receiving end of things. Usually she was the one performing the experiments.

"We are here for you, Aurora."

Oh Whitegrazer.. Ever so supportive, so sweet and caring.. There were times Aurora envied the vok-maximal's ability to project this atmosphere of calmness whenever someone needed it. It was truly a welcome sensation right now given how nervous the fuzor was about all of this. But most of all, she was worried about Rattrap going on this dangerous mission with only BlackArachnia to cover his back.

Thank you.., the fuzor responded with a slight smile back, I'm glad you're here with me for this, I really am. It's making me feel much better.

It was true. But as welcome as Whitegrazer's assistance was, the fuzor couldn't help but notice the other female seemed a tad distracted for a moment. Like her thoughts were drifting elsewhere.

Are you okay?, the fuzor inquired, not necessarily wanting to intrude, but Whitegrazer's thought processes were intriguing to say the least.
"Perfect. Now, just try to lay still and breathe normally. This won't hurt, it's just going to scan your neurons, energon and transponders so it can map out the inside of your head and hopefully give me a clear and concise comparison to the data we already have on file. It could be something as simple as a disconnected wire."
"With this scan, we will be able to figure out the proper solution to administer. "
The fuzor let out a slight sigh. Hopefully that's all it was.. Something simple and easy to fix like that. Yeah, she was just going to go with that mindset. She'd spent enough time being scared lately, and had allowed too many thoughts of pending doom mess up her mind. Rhinox was the best she knew, and he had taught her everything she knew about anatomy. Granted, she still had much to learn in that field too, but perhaps one day she'd be able to accomplish feats similar to those of the rhinoceros.

She lay back and tried to get as comfortable as possible, which quickly proved to be a less than easy task. It wasn't so much the faint humming from the neuro scanning cap on her head, which actually helped soothe her a bit, no, it was actually that she quickly realized just how uncomfortable the bench was. It was all hard and cold against her fur and cybertronian metal. So she made a silent promise to herself that when all of this was over, she'd make an effort to make these machines more comfortable for the users.

Dimming her optics a bit, she attempted to remain calm. Her breaths were normal, like he requested, and she did her best not to move.
"Whitegrazer, you can keep communicating with her to help her remain calm. Hold her hand if she'd like you to,"
Albeit unable to express her gratitude for Rhinox' words, Aurora was quick to grab Whitegrazer's hand as it was extended to her. The other female's hand was warm, comforting, much like everything else about Whitegrazer. Well, perhaps not her vok features that had gotten even more prominent after that terrible ordeal she must have experienced while dealing with X, Megatron and all that. Aurora didn't really want to know all the details about what had happened.. She had enough bad dreams when she did sleep.
"Just keep as still as you can. Ready?"
As ready as I'm going to get, Aurora told Whitegrazer via their connection as the actual scan was started. The humming quickly got a little louder, the helmet lighting up as soon as the scan was initiated. Her grip on the other female's hand got a little tighter still, her entire body tensing up a bit as the scan progressed. Rhinox was right, however, the scan didn't hurt.

Some preliminary results from the scan started showing up on the monitor. It wasn't the best of news and showed that when Zodiac impaled her head to remove the chip, it was done without any concern about her safety or future. It wasn't necessarily done with the intent to kill, but it was definitely done in a hurry. The area around where the identification chip had been located was damaged from the forceful entry, some circuits had been pushed out of the way while others had seemingly merged from the traumatic event. In fact the trauma had come close to and almost severed her speech circuits altogether, but fortunately the main damage was isolated to the region that connected the speech circuits those leading to the voice box.

Aurora grasped Whitegrazer's hand a little more tightly still as the scan went on, feeling a strange tingling sensation inside her head as the scanner continued to map out the inside of her skull. And more than once the fuzor had to remind herself not to move, since she really wanted to turn her head to look at Whitegrazer's gentle features.
"Now, try to speak a whole sentence,"
"Bottle admire pact looming musty lift," she responded Rhinox without even taking a moment to consider what she truly wanted to say. Not that it mattered anyway, it all came out as gibberish.

"Wire black frog eat."

After speaking up again, just in case the scanner had trouble picking anything up the first time, Aurora turned her attention back to Whitegrazer who was now asking her things via their link.

"So what was it that you wanted to show Rattrap?"

"Oh, I wanted to make sure he had the best chances at succeeding since he's heading out to track down Zodiac. So I let him take one of my inventions with him. It's designed for climbing purposes, but it's got other uses as well. Thought it could be useful to him. "
She couldn't help but smile wider as she remembered Rattrap's reaction when he found himself dangling from the ceiling. Oh man, she should have video taped him! And used it for blackmail material later. Nothing she could possibly say, when she got her ability to speak normally back that is, could possibly compare to the rodent's frantic reaction.

"I had to demonstrate the device to prove its usefulness to Rattrap. You should have been there, it was hilarious!"

By now she was getting almost comfortable, Whitegrazer's uplifting presence helping her take her mind off everything that had been going on. Replaying the scenario of Rattrap dangling from the ceiling in her mind, she couldn't avoid letting out a slight snicker.

At the Darksyde, Megatron was slowly starting to recover in the healing waters of the cryo bath. Nemesis watched him at first but then decided to devote her attention to the more pressing situation at hand.. After all there was a good chance that the traitorous changeling was still hiding out at the base, no matter what the computer said. He was, after all, trained to infiltrate so there was always the possibility that he was tricking their sensors somehow. In fact she was almost certain this was the case, considering how little time he must have had after attacking Megatron and none of their cameras or sensors had picked up on him flying away from the base.

No, he was still there.. Hiding out, pretending to be one of them, she was sure of it.
"Well... done... Nemesis,"
And hearing Megatron approve of her actions, was quite a relief. Despite the norm among Predacons being that they generally wanted to usurp power for themselves, Nemesis had no such desires. No, she wanted Megatron to succeed in his mission to restore the Decepticon empire to its former glory, even though she might not fully agree with his methods at every turn. Megatron was quite ruthless, but she had faith in him. He was intelligent, ambitious to a fault, but he remained their best choice for a better future.

Optimus.. Well.. Her feelings towards him were complicated at best. She found him to be intelligent and resourceful.. And tolerant. Her discussions with him had actually helped her gain some clarity on a few matters. But he was a Maximal and thus didn't share her heritage or pride thereof. He had never gotten to experience just how badly the Decepticons and Predacons were treated under Maximal rule, and as such he couldn't understand the rebellious nature of the Predacons. It was difficult to understand the oppression if you had never been the target of such. And this was the reason she sided with Megatron in this war, not necessarily that she always approved of his methods but she believed in the rebellion at the core of this conflict.

Although she didn't verbalize her gratitude for his words, she briefly placed a hand on the tyrant's shoulder in a supportive gesture before pulling the hand back again. Having Megatron recognize her efforts, even in such a small way, had been a long time coming. Not that she ever expected him to show his gratitude. The tyrant ruled with an iron fist and she was okay with that. Honestly it was likely the only way to keep this pack of rebels together under a single goal. Every Predacon and Decepticon leader before them had ruled the same way, and it was the only way they'd been able to stay alive and in a few cases even prosper.
"Why are we not being directed by the Royalty himself?"
"Do not... question Nemesis' orders... Inferno! I am taking... a temporary... leave of absence, and leaving her... in command. Do I make... myself clear?"
Her optics darted to the confused ant who had just gotten told off by their leader, then back to Megatron again. He was growing stronger, but still had some ways to go before he was back to normal. Hopefully they would be able to locate and capture the traitor before then.

"Your trust in me is most appreciated,"
she told the tyrant with a trace of a smile visible on her face. "But you should try to rest. We'll handle things here in the meanwhile, but we'll need you back at full strength when Zodiac has been apprehended. " She sounded quite confident he would be. And soon. With every Predacon having been given orders to bring him down, there were only so many places the would-be-tyrant-assassin could hide. They would find him and bring him to justice. Their justice. However to help speed up the process, she, too, would have to join the search party. She knew the traitor better than any of them, after all.

She was just about to leave when Megatron addressed her a final time.
"Do not fail me... Nemesis,"
"I won't," she assured him. "I will partake in the search as well. The sooner the traitor is caught, the sooner you can mount his head on the wall in your quarters."

Meanwhile, hidden in the vents above, Zodiac remained still while in the ermine fuzor's form. Hopefully things would calm down enough for him to depart soon and join up with Rampage. He made sure he stayed well out of sight, not wanting to bring the entire Predacon armada down upon himself should he get discovered. But he had no doubt that sooner or later, chaos would erupt following the demise of the Predacon leader. Provided he was truly dead, of course, but the changeling saw no reason why he wouldn't be considering the extensive damage he had done and how Megatron appeared to have been taking his final breaths when the renegade left his quarters.

As he sat there, casually watching the Predacon troops rush by below him through the grid a few feet away, he found himself wondering if Rampage had been successful in raising the Viper. No doubt the larger crab had every reason to fulfill the renegade's request. After all, the spark was now in the shapeshifter's possession. How such a seemingly fragile thing could hold such immense power was almost mind boggling to think about. And the fact that Rampage did not just survive having half of his spark cut out, but even managed to thrive without it, was even more intriguing. Indeed, it would take some effort to control the high-spirited crab, but it could clearly be done. Megatron had been kind enough to show him how. Hopefully Rampage wouldn't force his hand on this issue.

Soon now he would be able to board the Viper and leave this planet, his large new ally safely aboard as well. Zodiac could hardly wait for the reactions when he returned home at an earlier stage in his life, and the capability of changing not only his own upbringing but all of Cybertrons history following the signing of the peace treaty between Maximals and Predacons. There would be no treaty this time around, he would make sure of it, and he was certainly going to make sure that all parties involved knew all too well. Chaos would reign, and Zodiac and Rampage would be free to re-write history. And everyone, absolutely everyone who had ever wronged them would be made to pay. Cryotek, Megatron, Nexus Prime, the Maximal and Predacon councils.. All of them. And the civilian casualties from this war they were about to start were of no concern. Every war had casualties. The population of Cybertron could be replenished, but only by those Zodiac saw fit to replace them. And should anyone fail to cooperate, including his new ally Rampage, well.. there were certainly ways to make sure compliance was met.

Zodiac smiled slightly to himself as he brushed the annoying fur out of his face, and he waited in silence. Impatiently so.
