(Skip to the bottom for the abbreviated version)
I'm usually not one to make a public example of someone, but I used some of the precious few minutes of my vacation on this guy, not to mention I *just* got home to find that home is a full 30 degrees farenheit hotter than where I was, my room is a balmy 86/31 degrees, and I've only had four hours of sleep, so finding this mess that this person has so nicely created for the mods and admins to clean up has brought out the decidedly nasty side of me.
Some of you probably remember Mitarri. He didn't really contribute much to the forum. Moreover, he broke the rules and irritated those in charge enough that he was banned. This was a few months ago.
Then, yesterday, he decides to re-register, ever-so-cleverly using the same screename, except he added a 2 at the end. Because it was a textbook case of ban evasion, I banned his new screename and a couple of his IP addresses.
Apparently this didn't sit too well with him or something because he decided to "anonymously" post rather lame flames all over the place.
Like Starath said, we have people working to clean things up, but if we've missed one, please ignore it. If you respond to it and it's later deleted, your post will look silly.
The point of all this is that because he used twenty-odd IP addresses in his rather sad version of revenge, only registered users can post at the Beast Wars International forum. If you want to thank him, his email address is currently still listed under both of his registered screenames.
If this doesn't stop him, I can take further measures. I really don't want to, but Mitarri seems to be a rather petty person. If he continues, I can make it so that people who want to join must first get admin approval. I don't really want to because that makes more work for myself and others, not to mention it's rather unpleasant to have to ask permission to join a forum. Not that we'd really be picky at all. At the moment, the only criteria I can come up with is that if you're not Mitarri, you can join.
And, for the new people, I'm not usually like this. Yes, most of my posts are of a administrative nature (yay for lurking at one's own forum!), but I've never before announced the banning of a member, I keep most warnings private, and haven't called out anyone in a manner similar to this. I
really don't plan on it again unless the circumstances stated in the opening paragraph are duplicated.
The abbreviated version:
Only registered and logged-in users can post at the forum. Sorry to inconvenience people.
