That's not a trailer! It's a teaser. I must say, I'm a little dissapointed. Also, I am now forced to find a way to get out of the yearly family reunion on the Fourth next year.
On the other hand, it's a freakin' TF movie!

I've been to several TF forums and everyone seems to agree the eye you see is G1 Megatron's eye, although they find the Autobot symbol a bit confusing... Also, someone said that the bot thrashing the mars buggie was Soundwave, but then, they might've been wrong. I don't know enough about G1 to say otherwise.
Personally, I like the teaser trailer. I mean, they've only recently started filming, so you can't expect too much, and I like how they've tied in recent events into the plotline.

Soundwave's being made into a helicopter... I don't know how to feel. I mean, I respect that the director doesn't want to have size-changing transformers, but, come on! It's Soundwave!

It may look like it, but it doesn't mean a BW cameo will happen. Remember, long before TM2 Dinobot appeared on TV, the "eye" of the toy (and character) was sculpted with some design inspirations from the Borg from Star Trek. But that didn't mean Star Trek was part of any of the TF universes (apart from the BW characters often saying "computer").
That or it could be Unicron. *shrugs* Awsome btw.
Not gonna happen... yet. However, Don Murphy had said before that, if this TF movie is successful enough, he's wanting to make a second and third one, and possibly include Unicron in one of them.
> Soundwave's being made into a helicopter... I don't know how to feel. I mean, I respect that the director doesn't want to have size-changing transformers, but, come on! It's Soundwave!
Actually, last I heard, no one really knows what Soundwave's going to transform into. There had been LONG debates about whether his new alt-form will be a communications device (which I think Hasbro initially wanted), a helicopter, or whatnot. Also, it wasn't entirely the producers' or director's decision to have no size-changing; it was additional debate from a number of the fans themselves that prompted it (some fans even claimed that size-changing for TFs today would be "stupid"). Problem was, I don't many of them considered what this would do to Soundwave in the movie.
There had also been a report (I believe Murphy said this at TransformersCon last spring) that, because Soundwave was such an iconic character, and Murphy didn't want to mess with it, he might not even appear in the first movie (or maybe just have a "heavy shadow" cameo of sorts), and instead be pushed back into the second one. Again, though, with so many people saying different things, none of us really knows for sure.

I don't think you understand, though. This movie is not based on BW, so BW characters (or pre-BW versions of them) will not be in the movie, even if they bear a slight resemblance to them. Sorry, chico.

I originally saw the teaser in the theatres. Honestly, the teaser trailer has improved my opinion of the movie.
Anyway, IMO, the bot slagging the Beagle 2 looks a bit like Ironhide, but I really don't think it matters too much who it was (if it was intended to be a specific character in the first place).

We can't say that pre-BW characters WON'T appear--we could see something very similar. A lot of cartoon/game/film adaptations change a lot of things around to make it more interesting and appeal to more audiences. Unless someone has come out and said "There will be no BW cameos" we won't know until we get a character/actor list, or possibly even go in to see the movie.
I don't give a crap as long as some form of Optimus is in it, and well...that's a given, isn't it?
EDIT! Just found this on Wikipedia. Don't know what it means. *Spoiler warning* SERIOUSLY DON'T READ if you don't wanna know.
"Writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci said that the storyline will not be based upon the original Generation 1 series, but will feature many of the original characters. Ain't It Cool News reported a scene where a giant robotic scorpion Decepticon named Scorponok attacks a middle- eastern Army base. There is also supposed a car chase scene between Optimus Prime and an unnamed Decepticon truck."
Yes, I'm aware there was a Scorponok in the regular transformers or whatever, but you can't deny that there's a chance it could resemble the BW baddie.
And...
A photo of what is alleged to be Optimus Prime in his vehicle mode was leaked onto the internet. His alternate form is a dark blue Peterbilt semi truck with red flames painted on the sides. This has caused some controversy with both fans and critics from Ain't It Cool News and other sites expressing disapproval of the changes to the character's appearance from his Generation 1 incarnation[17]. It should be noted, however, that this color scheme closely matches one of the G2 Optimus Prime toys[18].
Indeed, a source has said Prime in alternate mode is similar to his G2 look but in robot mode is similar to G1. [19]
I also read that we'll get to see Optimus' mouth, much like we can see Primal's.

Actually, outty,if this movie is based of the cybertron toyline, then it can't be soundwave. In the cybertron toyline, soundwave was a jet
