Happy New Year!

As 2013 wraps up and 2014 around the corner, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope everyone's 2014 is even better than 2013... or not as bad as 2013, depending on if you're a glass half full or half empty type of fellow. ;-)

Forum-wise, we saw the fixing of our registration and defeat of the spambots (minus a couple minor slip ups), updating of the software and templates, and some new smiley faces to use. I hope that 2014 will bring about a reduction and eventual banishment of the dreaded "General Error" message.

What are your hopes, dreams, and resolutions for the new year?

Well, here's how the first half of my 2014 is going to be:

- Take the second semester of an acting class.
- Get a promotion from a retail to a corporate position.
- Set aside $$$ so I can move to California where all my friends are now.
- Join my co-workers in a workout challenge where you start with 1 push-up and 1 sit-up, then add 1 rep every single day thereafter until Dec 31, 2014.
- Try to go to Phoenix Comic-con since I've never bothered to go before.

2013 in a nutshell:

- 3rd year with the man I love
- Started shooting in a ladies' archery league
- Fencing tournament at which I tied for 3rd place!!
- Mayhem festival with my brother
- WWE Live
- First cruise and first visit to the Bahamas
- Submitted a story to a Writing contest (which was one of my 2013 New Years Resolutions)
- Moved in with my love
- And of course, the biggest news of the year.....the Engagement!

My goals for 2014:

- More writing
- I also aim to take some more classes towards being a CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
- I want to start taking Spanish classes again (I was taking regular Spanish conversation classes, but had to drop it since I moved)
- I started running regularly, but stopped....I need to start that again
- I would like to do more fencing tournaments this year hence the need to run and get into better shape :-P

Anyway....hope everyone has a safe and happy new year! Here's to 2014! \m/

*Hopefully kick the chronic migraines
*Also hope I can get this internship I have a chance for after a police visit for an assignment I did this past semester
*Kick soda for good >>

Ah......soda....that's a tough one. I cut down a lot compared to what I used to drink. I used to have two or three mountain dews a day. Now, I treat Mountain Dew as a special treat. I have about one or two a month instead of daily. But I failed kicking soda in general. I tried to only drink one soda a week, but I drink more than that. I try not to drink soda every day and I did cut down, but not as much as planned. Good luck with that. :-/

My new years resolution:

Buy a Wii Fit U and actually use it.
Don't let customers get to me so much (I work in customer service to so... wish me luck)
Complete my first star wars parody featuring Transformers Characters.
Complete and post at least one of my Beast Wars remake episode ideas (it's in actual script format so I need a place to post it that isn't fanfiction.net)
Get out of the house for more than just work

Quitting soda is rough. I've tried a few times.. recently had to quit it again after a horrible kidney stone. Pretty much off the stuff for life, though it's tempting seeing it in the fridge.. but I always remind myself "Is it worth pain worse then a gunshot wound, gravel in the toilet, and medical expenses? Nope!"

Can't say I have too much planned for 2014.. get some things in order, maybe try to draw more in the months I'm not wearing out my wrist injury acting as the family constructicon, experiment with some programming and prototyping boards, improve my skills with icing and frosting for when I bake cakes/desserts/etc, put together a med bag since I tend to end up in weird situations that usually end up with me bleeding (example:Tearing open my thumb with a drill while putting up drywall and just having tissues and ducttape to make a bandage..)

Yea, giving up soda is very difficult. I've tried twice and kept going back to soda but not as much as I use to. Still definitely want to try at least lessen it more if I can, not have so much of it, similar to you Blackrose I use to drink two to three pepsis a day but cut that now at least but not quite at my goal to quitting it where I won't crave it still.

Have you tried the grossout method? Try researching pepsi and it's effects on rats they found in a cans. There's been a few cases of it infact.. and generally, pepsi and mountaindew's acid content is strong enough to dissolve flesh into jelly. Didn't really phase me though, the water here is terrible and used to make me sick.

Huh, guess I'm lucky, I've never liked soda/pop-- it's the carbonation, mostly. Occasionally I'll get Sprite or orange soda if there's absolutely nothing else to drink, but I tend to be a juice/milk/Kool-Aid man.

Which I suppose makes me sound like I'm six years old, but hey, the toy collection probably screams that a lot more than what I drink...
