New Voyager Class BW Megatron coming-- and more?

Unread post by Beastbot »

They revealed at Toyfair recently that, starting in fall of this year, the "Transformers Generations" subline will be doing a big 30th Anniversary hurrah (switching from the Fall of Cybertron-themed toys that it currently has). From those who were at Toyfair who spoke to Hasbro reps, it appears that the 30th Anniversary will celebrate the entire history of the line (not just G1 and its various offshoots). The first news came from a Hasbro rep who said (this is slightly paraphrasing, but close to the exact quote): "We've got a new mold Voyager-class Beast Wars toy coming that will make you weep at its beauty." Hasbro reps have said for a while now they've been trying to find a way to do a Voyager-class Rhinox toy, so this looks like a pretty good bet on that toy.

As for mold-reuses, normally now Hasbro will mold mulitple heads when they create a new toy, so that when they repaint it later on they don't have to spend money on a new head mold-- it's already been included in the mold cost. Well, from a leaked testshot, look who just showed up as the new Grimlock toy's alternate head:

Looks like an updated homage to the Transmetal version of him, yeessss....

Hmm...While I like the beast mode of that mold for BW Megatron, I'm not overly fond of the robot mode. It just looks a little too "top heavy," in my opinion.

Anyway, glad to see more BW toys coming. On a similar note, some of the new Beast Hunters toys have caught my eye:

Skystalker
Grim Wing

I'm not sure exactly who those characters are, but their toys seem pretty neat.

They're new characters. I imagine we'll see at least Grimwing in Season 3 of Prime, as he's both a Voyager and his bio heavily implies he'll defect to the Autobots. Sky Stalker's another possible, though "just" being a deluxe it could be a toy-only character.

Did you know about the Abominus combiner being created from the various Predacon Legion-class figures? Given that there's five unique molds only at that tiny price point and they're all almost direct updates from the G1 Terrorcons, I'm pretty certain we won't be seeing them in the show, but it looks pretty darned awesome:

(The 5-pack giftset is a Target Exclusive, but it's all but a certainty each will be released individually, since Twinstrike & Hun-Gurr have already been revealed in individual-packaged Legion class solicits.)
