Magnificent

Unread post by Haystack »

WOW, it's been a while since the last time I was here. OYYYYY...

Anyways, I am not dead, I just lost interest in "Beast Wars" for a while. However, with a recent wave of nostalgia I have gotten back into the show, and I love it now just as much as I did back when I was N00B Haystack (and maybe even more so), so for the time being I am back.

Anyways, I wrote this poem a few days ago when I was sleep-deprived at 1 in the morning because Rampage/Transmutate is STILL my OTP, and I wanted to write something about them. So yeah, enjoy! :D

Magnificent

You were tormented
Ever since the first moment
You breathed in and out on your own, standing tall
Neck extended to the sky,
And your pain flashed across your skin.
You could not be classified as beautiful
(though to some, you may be),
But something about you stunned
Them, stunned me,
And I drew in air
As I beheld a Neither for the first time.

I knew then, that I would classify you as
“Magnificent”, I whisphered,
Looking at the twisted, delicate frame of you.
Every single time I see the others,
Especially the one who has me
In chains with a box,
I want to render them asunder
And hear them scream,
Examine them inside to foretell my bleak future,
The blood and silver fluid
Flowing through my fingers,
But for you it was different.

I did not want to hurt you.

You seemed so much a kindred spirit
To my own that I dared
To hope, just a little bit.
Even with everything that happened after that,
I still remember your first moment
Of your short life
The most clearly.
I think I know what this is,
How I see myself with you.
It is not hatred,
And it can’t be lust
Because with lust there can be no consideration
For the other person,
And when I think back
I can only remember wanting to hold you,
To hear you speak
And to protect you
If you so wished.
If that is not love
There there can be no other name for it.

Magnificent.
That was the name I bestowed upon you.
I do not know why you chose that other name, Transmutate,
But so be it.
When I speak the name
In the dark halls of this dungeon,
I remember you best at the beginning.
I do not like to think about your end,
Though it was the only time I ever
Held you;
It brings back regrets,
All regrets.
When I see you there,
Standing tall,
With neither name nor faction,
My only regret was that I never
Got to pour out my love
For you like wine upon the rock.

Examine them inside to foretell my bleak future,
The blood and silver fluid
Flowing through my fingers,
I had to do a double-take. I was wondering if this means Rampage knows he will always be killing even after he kills the 'bots he wants to, which I'm pretty sure now is what it means. Anyways, that was a very interesting way of expressing that idea. It's a dark idea, of course, but interestingly stated.

I'm slowly growing more accustomed to "free" verse (I've always liked discernible patterns)- this had a nice feeling of rhythm to it, I think.
I understand... you are, after all, a predacon.

Hey Blazemane, good to see that you are still around. :)

That quote was actually a reference to an Ancient Greek custom where a soothsayer would kill an animal and examine its intestines to try and predict the future. Nasty and dumb, I know, but that's Rampage for you.

Glad you're liking the free verse, I find that it's much easier to write than a rhyming structure is. :)
