An author in need of inspiration....

Unread post by Starath »

Once again my muse has kinda sputtered and died... But instead of trying to force anything to come, I'm on the lookout for inspiration in the form of other fics!

Rather than digging through the scores of fics at ff.net, The Realm and here at BWint without any direction, does anyone have any suggestions of good fics I should read? I prefer comedy and action/adventure stuffs, but feel free to shout "THIS STORY'S REALLY GOOD!" if you feel so inclined for anything. The fics I do have aren't inspiring very much anymore because I have such a good memory I always remember what happens....

>_> I also realize that there are fics people have wanted me to read but I've forgotten.... so go ahead and remind me, lol.

Hopefully something will inspire me enough to write since I have a LOT of unfinished fics and ideas that have got to be finished. It's hard to be a writer when it's difficult to write... @_@

Thankies much to anyone who helps!

I hope you don't mind if I list some non-BW fics here, too.

MariaShadow's profile... she writes some of the best G1 humor stories on ff.net: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/756016/

On TFW2005... a fic called Passion, written by Vangelus, a guy I sorta know (he has a dramatized excerpt there.. he reads it aloud and sounds so friggin' creepy! He's a fandubber, too, being BWII Thrust's voice in the TFCog fandub! And Victory Greatshot....): http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=94116

PuraJazzBot's G1 fic, "A Twisted Act To Follow": http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2274090/1/

The Crab's fics, including two BW vignettes: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/220698/

Straya's "Best Laid Plans": http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2651227/1/ (features some non-fighter G1 Autobots... and is one funny fic.. let's just say I went into a hysterical laughing fit when I read Wheeljack's line "report in to Sparky and the Cranky Medical Officer"...)

This fic isn't much of an adventure/comedy type, but it's perfect nevertheless. Purple Aussie's "Chameleon": http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2793472/1/ (it's a drama fic, featuring G1 Prowl acting totally unlike himself... like threatening to shoot his comrades, and preferring to be alone, panickedly trying to get away from Jazz plus that sorta stuff.. "Prowl had been showing up late for shifts, handing in sloppy duty reports, doing very little other than what was absolutely necessary of him...and those were the nicest of his recent indiscretions."... um, I must warn you.. it's a 20-chapter fic...)

http://www.transfan-asylum.org/fanfic/nodoors.htm (PrincessArtemis's humor story, "Why The Ark Has No Doors?")
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now for some BW fics...

http://www.transfan-asylum.org/fanfic/fantific.htm (FantiSci's fics from Nightwind's Transfan Asylum)

http://www.transfan-asylum.org/fanfic/mcatfic.htm (MCat's fics from the same place)

http://www.transfan-asylum.org/fanfic/neffyfic.htm (NefertariHime's fics from the same place) (The Depthcharge/Rampage fics are amazing)

http://www.transfan-asylum.org/fanfic/randallfic.htm (Tremor3258's fic from the same place)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And if you want, you can check out my stories. Just go the Search option on ff.net and put 'DeltaSilver' in the author field.

Neff's fics are up at Bwint, too.

Here is a suggestion:

http://www.bwint.net/timothycarterfic1.htm - The Abyss, by Timothy Carter. Written as a script, it's an adventure that had me chuckling. It's a sweet, simply story with a very original plot! Enjoy!

I'll add more later, as my time at work has suddenly finished. O_o

I dug into some of my older notes on a series I was doing some preliminary work on a series called Nanowars, a BW prequel set 150 years before the Axalon ever left port.

One of the "Episodes" was meant to somewhat comedic, episode blurb as follows.

The Package

Proteus is more skittish and nervous then ever. When an unknown energy surge is detected in neutral ground, however, his skittishness explodes into exultance. He informs the maximals that he was involved in temporal research for discovering ways of moving through time as easily as space. He tells them that the package must be recovered before Callisto gets it, or else she may be able to reverse engineer a time machine and use it against them!

Which of course involves a chase and grab similar to what happened in Changing of the Guard.

The punchline was intended to be... A Rubber Ducky :) Possibly Megatrons Rubber Duck, which would add some Historical value to it :) The brains of the outfit (Proteus) pushed it through time in one of his experiments and misses it terribly :)

Overall that was the only light hearted episode that I planned out of the lot of them. The rest are somewhat... darker. I wanted to explore a series where the good guys dont always necessarily win and even at times lose.

Even so, if it helped get those creative juices flowing once more I'm more then happy. Writers block is a pain.
