IDW to produce new BW comic mini-series and profile book

This was stated in the "Maxi-Mail" letters section in the newest issue of IDW's BW comic. As you can guess, most readers feel a 4-issue mini-series isn't enough, and as usual, "we want more" or something to that effect. Editor-In-Chief Chris Ryall has replied that we WILL get more. Quoting him verbatim from the issue #4's letters column:

"... it's because we heard from so many of you in this regard that I'm happy to tell you that there will indeed be more Beast Wars to come later this year. This is a title that I think benefits from frequent miniseries more than it would an ongoing title, so that's the approach we'll take. So look for more from Simon [Furman] and Don [Figueroa] this fall (assuming they survive their Cybertron sojourn in Stormbringer this summer, that is).

"In addition to a second miniseries, look for some official Beast Wars handbooks, too, with entries and illustrations of every single Beast Wars character around. Yep, every single one. Simon and Ben Yee will be handling the text, and a wide array of TF artists will be providing the character illustrations. So for anyone who wondered 'whos' who' in the world of Beast Wars, you're going to find out."

Some additional notes from Ben Yee himself, on his own BWTF Forums:

"* I am writing a Beast Wars profiles book with Simon Furman (some folks wondered if it was some *other* Ben Yee).

* Issue #1 of the BW mini gives you a hint as to whether Japanese characters will be in the books.

* The profiles will NOT just be the guys (and gals) who appeared in the TV show (because that would be one very thin book).

* There will be G1 homages and yes, characters (who became BW characters) in the book such as Grimlock. However, they are in the minority.

* This is not some haphazard assembly of characters. Before writing a single profile, Simon and I worked up an entire backstory for the Maxies and Preds taking the TV show and Beast Machines (to a lesser degree) into account."
