Transformers Movies

Unread post by Alak »

What do you guys think of the Michael Bay Transformers movies? I liked the first one, but thought the second sucked apart from the forest battle...and Sideswipe's 17 seconds of fame (or however long it was). I'm just curious to see what BW/Transformers fans thought of it.

I really like the first one, I like the second one a little, but I think could have been better.

One thing that the second film did right, imo, is that the Decepticons were no longer overpowered. In the first one, Brawl/Devastator managed to hold off the marines, Jazz, Ironhide, and Ratchet before Bumblebee had his moment of awesome. Starscream shrugged off a direct missile hit like it was nothing, as he did with Ironhide and Ratchet's point-blank attacks. Megatron totally, completely, absolutely owned Optimus Prime to the point where it hurt to watch the fight. Prime would have easily been scrapped if not for the F-22 fighters and marines interfering (who, btw, had to unload an insane amount of ammo into the Decepticon).

Optimus must have been taking lessons from Sideswipe, because his manhandled THREE larger, more heavily armed Decepticons with just two melee weapons. Also, his ion blaster did zilch to Megatron in the first movie. In RotF, the ion blaster sent Megs flying through a wall...with one shot mind you.

I really enjoyed the first movie but I really thought that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen dropped the ball. It seemed to focus more on "bigger is better" and not on substance.

I liked the second one more, though I do miss JAZZ! The humor was crude, but dang, wasn't that bad, at least not to me. 8)

Jazz was my favorite character. I don't really like Ratchet or Ironhide. They didn't have to kill him, especially cuz afterward everyone was like "How sad he's dead. Moving on" like they didn't really care.

I actually really didn't like the first one.. And because of my less than enthusiastic outlook on the first movie, I barely went to see the second one. But I caught one of the final showings sometime in the first half of August regardless.

To my surprise I enjoyed the second one so much more! The Decepticons finally showed a bit of personality, and the robots were devoted a little more air time. There were lots of explosions and despite the script being a bit farfetched, I thought it to be superior to the first one with plenty of moments that made me chuckle.

That's the spirit, Bay, that's the spirit!

Needs more Beast characters...now that both Scorponok and Ravage are dead...we need more Beasts.
