i do jack squat for V day every year. never been a reason to >(

however this year, as a member of the 6th form committee, i am responsible for handing out roses and carnations on said day....plus preparation for the whole thing days before...muttergrumble

i'm going to make myself a promise though...by 2009, i WILL have someone to "celebrate" it with. someone who will buy me lots and lots of chocolate (every day  )

That's coming up already!?

I too usally do zero for Valentines day, mostly because I have no one of my own to share it with. Oh well, no use of crying over spilt milk I suppose.

I've got alot on my plate at the moment so I guess I can give this year a miss.......just like I do every year. XD

I'm doing nothing today. I got nobody to do anything with just like every year. I hate Valentines day.

I do nothing out of choice. When I get my husband a gift, I do it when the mood or opportunity strikes, not because the calendar says I have to. He does the same. Because, darnit, we love each other all the time and don't need some greeting card holiday to make it 'special' ( or tell us that we're doing it wrong. )

About four and a half years now. It's no secret, but it's not something I tend to announce. He's important to me, he's a big part of my life, but he's not my identity, you know?

Mostly just threw it out there to say that, no, it's not just single people who think Valentine's Day is an in-your-face excuse for society to tell you there's something wrong with you.

I guess Valentine's Day is a perfectly good if you happen to a) have an other significant enough for it, and b) want an excuse to romance it up ( I say that love itself should be enough of an excuse. ) The problem is that the commercialism places unreasonable expectations on just about everybody. If you're single, it tries to force you into settling for anyone, just to have a date for the Special Day. If you're dating, it tries to force the degree of the relationship - Mr Right Now isn't automatically Mr Right just because you happened to be dating him on February 14th, and he shouldn't have to act it. And if you're married, it is Required and Expected that you buy Trinkets and Junk, because if you don't, obviously you don't love each other enough.

So, yeah. Bleagh to it. ;)

Megh. AT least you guys aren't members of the 6th form committee, having no choice but to sell and dish out flowers

we sold about 1500 roses and carnations. all morning during registration we went around the rooms watching popular kids get 50 an others none.

i got none of course. but my mum and exchanged flowers. that was good enough

That's what happens at my school too. But I kind of like getting no flowers. Oh, sure I want one or two on that day, but once it's over:

A.) I don't have to worry about being in any relationships (I'm really not good with High School dating, etc. It sounds so... awkward. I mean, you have a girlfriend for about a month, but unless you stay dating from High School, all the way until you get married, you have a very good chance of hating each other by the time the relationship is over. Not all high school relationships end badly, but none seem to end well).

B.) I kind of like not being on anybody's popular list. Gives me time to myself. I don't feel that way all the time, but overall, I think it's actually a good thing.
I understand... you are, after all, a predacon.

thssa lotta flowers, Beastly. sure you can afford it? :P

Blaze: to option B: the popular kids, though not stereotypical bullies like you see on TV are all gerks, either that, or they are total fakes. one minute, one person is their friend, then they go behind their back to someone else and bad mouth them

while it can be a bit depressing at times (not often, though), I also prefer having fewer REAL friends, y'know?

in fact, we have a little room to ourselves in the corner of the milenium centre (6th form centre) that we have called 'psycho club' only me and my friends venture there in break :P

i swear, every time comeone looks in and sees us, they walk the other way T_T some people, huh?

////wow, V Day really brings out my bitter perspective on society...bleh

Well, that's not necessarily true. There are plenty of popular people out there who actually have a good personality, are nice to their friends, and don't gossip. Aside from that, everybody makes mistakes. We can all be jerks.

Oh, oh! Aside from the fact you live in Kuwait and I live in America, can I join? Can I join? Can I? Can I?

For real, I wish I could meet a lot of people on here.
