Other Vengeance 2.0
If anyone's interested.
Anyway, Other Vengeance is yet another Transformers-as-Humans fic. What I'm posting here is Other Vengeance 2.0, a rewrite of the original. Hopefully it's different enough from the original that if you read the first version, you won't find OV2.0 boring.
[ETA:] Updated. Chapter Two starts here.
[ETA:] Updated. Chapter 2.5 starts here.
[ETA:] Updated. Chapter Three starts here. Pop down to the full post on it for warnings and whatnots.

I enjoyed reading the original OV, and 2.0 is even better so far! It's funny how much a few changed details goes, isn't it? Waspinator's behavior between the two versions is highly different, though I saw something that very well may lead down a similar path. I'm interested to see if it does so. =) I don't usually stick this close to fanworks, esspecially when the core concept is frequently used, but you've really taken it up a notch in believeability. Very good, and I'm looking forward to more chapters if you do plan to make more.
Also, that one part about the Maximal charity was very intruiging.

Very excellent.
I read it over the course of today.
Going back and checking out the pictures of the characters was cool.

If Inferno thinks he's an ant, he's going to be fanatically clean.
Chapter 2.5
( 2.5 because it's short and follows fairly close on Chapter 2, but not close enough to count as part of it. The bulk of it happens about ten hours after the end of Chapter 2. Not much here, alas, but there's a bunch of points I need to cover before I can send Megatron off to fetch the plot in the next chapter. )

Lessee ... right geography, but a bit big to take on alone. Plus the whole herd thing makes them harder targets. Could be done, but would require much equipment. Easier to find something smaller. ( Half the fun of writing this story is the research. I spent three weeks in England with one of my betas, and we spent half our time looking up stuff on the Internet ... when we weren't watching Beast Wars in slow motion with the sound off just to look at details. We are geeks. )

New half-chapter was ROCKIN'. I love it! You're a fantastic writer.
He was tired, so he didn’t remember that one of the Predacons had been unconscious until late afternoon, was therefore quite awake, and she was probably the worst possible one to have loose in an unguarded base. Wow, I wonder what info Tarantulas managed to uncover while OP was zonked out.
Quickstrike had apparently decided that ‘Predacons don’t want your help’ only applied to conscious Predacons – he’d taken off his fringed drape and laid it over her like a small blanket. 3, 2, 1...AWW! I love your Quickstrike!
Usually Inferno simply accepted whatever punishment the Royalty meted out. He’d caught her by the throat often enough before, but this time she panicked. Oh man, this line makes me REALLY not like Megatron. I mean, catching her by the throat? Go Inferno for giving him what for, even though it was only out of self-defense.
Inferno staggered back, the fundamental shape of her universe crumbling around her. Poor girl, she really was broken in this chapter, wasn't she?
“Damaged fingers,” Scorponok grumbled. Unlike the others, he had burns on the backs of his hands as well as on his face. There was a bit of a ragged look to the injuries, the white waxiness torn and showing the wet red underneath. Ouch! Poor guy, that has to be painful. I've had burns on my hands before, it isn't fun.
“Ooh, Waspinator knows,” said Waspinator, and ticked points off on her fingers. “Aliens caused the problem. Megatron has alien disc. Alien disc seems best bet to get un-squishied. Only bot who understands alien disc is Megatron. Therefore Predacons do what Megatron says. Logic.” She gave a satisfied nod. Leave it to Waspinator to put things in perspective.
Inferno left. Scorponok looked over at the scout. “You know if Terrorsaur were here, he’d be kicking you for not declaring yourself queen.” Oh man, the mental images I'm getting are completely priceless!
I can't wait for the next chapter!

Bwhaha. I'm pretty sure the Arabian oryx is a bit too far off, geographically, but what about the sable antelope? Those are rather big, but it might be worth it for a bot to be taken down a few notches by a plant-eater "giant deer."Wayward wrote:( Quickly wikis. )

If you want a freaky bird, check out the maraboo stork. Nothing should have a beak that size and not be science fiction.
Awaiting the next chapter.

The Arabian might be a bit off, but the East African one is in Kenya, and for the purposes of OV, anything in Kenya or Uganda is considered useable ( sure, the oryx seems to be a bit further south than the story, but maybe it ranged further north back in the early Pleistocene. )
Sables might be out of their league - that's like five hundred pounds of horned beastie that doesn't want to be eaten.
( Wiki, wiki ... ) ... Dude! The marabou's a stork vulture! Freaky.

Maraboos (or marabou) are evil things, I can testify to that!
The Abby ground hornbills we had were wicked smart; the male, Buddy, often escaped from his enclosure and would stalk around the zoo. He knew that people in zoo garb were sources of food, and even stalked me at one point, leading up to the destruction of my building's door.
As long as they never even TRY a cape town buffalo...
I probably missed this in the show, since it's been a while since I watched anything after season 2, but how did the writers explain the whole Africa-to-USA-Ark thing?
