The obvious lesson of the show is DON'T IMPRESS GIRLS.

Sadly, I only managed to catch the tail end of the episode, because I was starving (not sure if literal) and there was pizza on the kitchen table.

Delicious, delicious pizza.

Anyway, what I did see was Breakdown and Knockout kidnapping a dude who's name I forgot because they mistook him for "Bumblebee's rider", Jack, because he's apparently been riding shotgun in Bumblebee this episode. Like I said, only caught the tail end of it.

The Awesome™ fight entails, part of which Bulkhead used a lamp post against Breakdown akin to a golf club. I'd imagine it was proportionately painful. XD

The episode ends with the kidnapped dude waking up, and Jack telling him he was kidnapped as some form of initiation. He then drops him off at what I presume to be his car, and Jack says that street racing isn't for him.

Finally, we can piece together the episode!

Jack wanted to impress a girl, because apparently crotch rockets aren't sexy enough. So he got Bumblebee to help him out, and decided to take it a step further and try out for the next The Fast and the Furious movie.

Only part I don't get is why the Decepticons tried to take "Bumblebee's rider". My guess is that they wanted bait to lure the Autobots out.

I should really watch the entire episode and not eat pizza instead.

All you needed to know about Speed Metal was that Knockout proved his awesomeness even moreso.

Also, first line of the episode was the best: "You scratch my paint, I scratch yours."

It's likely the same general character, but her name is Airachnid now. Honestly, I like that name a bit more, myself.

Well, I have to say, I like Airachnid, she's not the flirt that Blackarachnia was which I love and she knows how kick some aft. And she doesn't play around.

I had mixed feelings about this episode.

The Good

- New characters are always nice.
- We got to see more of the war on Cybertron.
- More Cliffjumper.
- I like going in depth of Autobots' pasts.
- The relationship was strengthened between Jack and Arcee.
- New era of Bumblebee is actually awesome, unlike the G1 cartoon version who constantly was the one needing to be saved.
- Cool fight scenes.
- Darker episodes are always nice because you tend to get more character and story development from them.
- I cheered when they showed that Jack actually understood how volatile energon can be and took advantage of it.
- Gina Torres has a good voice.

The Bad

- I understand Blackarachnia was popular, and even though it was a stretch, an arachnid appearance in Animated was plausible. When I saw the spider in this episode, I facepalmed. Should we expect sadistic, female spiders in every generation of Transformers from now on?
- When someone says stay put, you need to stay put. This is such an overplayed cliche that makes me cringe. Arcee could have finished the job during the first encounter, but nope, Jack had to break orders to distract her long enough for Arachnid to get the upper hand. Honestly, the first question that came to mind when this happened was, "Why is he in this show again?".
- While the feeling has subsided, I initially recalled many horrid TF fanfics when the plot became clear. Mad scientist tortures protagonist and leaves her with haunted memories until she dominates said scientist in future encounter. The difference is that most of these fanfics don't even have the latter part.
- There's millions of species on this planet and most of them put up a better fight than unarmed homo sapiens. If she really wanted pride in collecting heads, Arachnid should have gone after armed adults like M.E.C.H. soldiers. Silas vs. Arachnid would have been awesome.

I sort of thought that the writers would have a deux ex machina ending like last time and have Optimus Prime come and save the day (which took less than 30 seconds lol). I wouldn't have a problem with it, because half the time I was thinking "Come on, just ground-bridge Prime into the woods and have him curbstomp this bug!". I liked the ending the way it played out, though. Arachnid will live to fight another day, and hopefully we'll see a proper fight between her and Arcee without any interruptions from the pesky humans.

Wow. They finally managed to make a character even creepier than Rampage. At least Rampage had a REASON for why he was psychotic.

Anyways, I liked this as an episode. I have mixed feelings about it as an episode of a kids' show, though. This by far has to be the darkest episode of Transformers (any series). "Blood" splatters, killing, sadistic torture, even a brief shot of some decaying organic corpses.... I dunno, if I was watching this and was the target age Hasbro's aiming this at (7-10ish), I'd be having freaking nightmares. Airachnid was danged SCARY, and not in a Goosebumps "Oooh, let's get a little bit of the creeps!" scary. I dunno if I like things getting quite THIS mature.

I'm really curious what she turns into, though, if the spider-like mode is her ROBOT mode.

A more mature transformers has been something the fans have whined about for years, TF Prime seems to fit alot of the wants of fans.

as for those fan fictions.. they're essentially just retellings of the same stories that were told on the lifetime channel or certain movies about someone being wronged by another, then getting revenge. It's very cliche but with the millions of movies and variations it's also a timeless tale.

I think the designs are starting to grow on me a bit, but over all the show is better then the stuff the japanese were making, though those shows are almost more comparable with japanese super robot genre then typical transformers.

Classic Transformers, an Autobot/Maximal has some sort of sickness and the Autobots/Maximals need to go into Decepticon/Predacon turf to find the cure. The Low Road any one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLMoqLdojqc

Somehow I don't think Prime will be farting the Decepticons into submission.

 yeah, can't find any wild bean vines near this base.

did anyone else get an NCIS vibe from the name of the plague? cybonic = bubonic? Actually, nevermind :?

Rumor has it that (and this is from how the promo ended) that this is linked with episode 14 as a two-parter. We'll just have to wait an see right?

All I can say about this comming episode is that Optimus has been infected with the Transformers verson of the black death and I have no idea what NCIS has any thing do with it.

All it says on the episode guide on TFP is:
Optimus becomes infected by a Decepticon plague so Arcee and Bumblebee sneak onto the Nemesis to get the cure.
And if that episode is so tense that they need a part two, then that will happen, we'll just have to wait and see. And I have a hypothesis about this comming episode. I think while they are on the Decepticon warship, they are gonna find Megatron's unconscious form in the medbay while they are looking for a cure. That's what I think but you never you, most of my guesses have been wrong before.
