What I was trying to get was if a director likes what they are basing their film off of, you can usually feel that from the atmosphere and look of the film. An example of doing it for money would be the golden compass which is a okay film... If you have not read the books which makes it into a bowlderised piece of slag which isn't even finished.Lady Venom wrote:Trust me, I doubt a director would take on a script he hated.. if he hates it, then the actors will hate him, there could be rebellion of no one willing to work with the director.
That's why some movies, I believe, go through three or four directors before finding one who's 'passionate' about the movie. Cause if you(the director) don't take the movie seriously, no one on your cast will, it won't make money, and then you'd be labeled as a director that no one will work with, and you'll die a hack.
Of course..that's my opinion on it, and I'm a cynic, lol..
Because there's a phrase for people who drive out into the middle of very flat, open country while being chased by Starscream in his F-22 form. "Sitting duck."

Never watched Golden Compass, movies like that never really appealed to me.
Of course, you have cases of Directors just in general perhaps enjoying directing the movie, but in reality, their minds are off in la-la land when it comes to actually making sense...lol

Yeah, I understand that feeling. The only other example that really gets the point of what I was getting would be spider-man and his current show.Lady Venom wrote:Never watched Golden Compass, movies like that never really appealed to me.

The movies, well quite frankly aren't that good. I mean, you could when the director cared and when he didn't (like Vemon

Funnily enough, I JUST watched Spider-man 3 the night before the fire, and was full of hatred for it, and how they portrayed Venom... (T_T my baby! You were ruined!)
The show itself, the new cartoon, I'm not sure, since I only watched one episode, and it takes me forever to enjoy the new way things are animated.. (toothpick bodies, no pupils, lackluster shading-if there is any-) as compared to what I was use to as a kid.
But the Spider-man movies in general, all three fell flat for me personally. I'm not a movie fan from the twentieth century...lol. My collection consists of movies from 1920's till 1950's and that's about it.

It took a bit of time to get past the animation. Once I did, I found a intelligent show with humor and very good knowledge of how to foreshadow new villains. The plot if viewed together creates a really coheasive story will be covering one year in Peter Parker's life. (currently finished winter, waiting for spring.) Spider-man and other characters get character development and good lines. Lines such as
Doc Ock: "Check please"
Waiter: "Uh....it's on the house, sir"
Doc Ock: "How kind of you.....and wise"
and
Sandman: [Talking with Spider-Man in the middle of a fight] Gee, you really think I can do some good?
Spider-Man: Well, yeah, I mean with great power comes gr—
Sandman: Gullibility!! [sucker punches Spidey]
are priceless when heard.
The best episode for an idea of how it gets would be Gangland. That episode is about Doc Ock, Silvermane, and Tombstone having a summit for the control of New York's gangs in a operahouse. Hammerhead betrays them all, resulting in a fight that has opera music playing throughout it. The ending is unbelievably nighmarish if you have seen the first season and know some of the characters.

Has anyone heard this theme by Ominous Voice?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SQCZDMgfsU
He decided to create his own song that better fits the Transformers movies, using the original theme song from the G1 television series (and Jablonsky's score, of course). It's really amazing!

That actually made total sense, and was IMO one of the most brilliant jokes in the movie.artemis-lady-warrior wrote:Yeah the whole "A Prime! I FINALLY FOUND A PRIME!" thing seemed fanboyish. and how do robots fart parachutes?
That's where the parachute for the SR-71 Blackbird is stored-- in the back end, it's how it slows down. And given Jetfire's transformation, the parachute would be exactly where his butt is. He wakes up from a however-long nap, finds something stored there that shouldn't be there, tries to get it out... and voila.

I agree that in Spider-Man 3 they messed up Venom....bad. I liked Spider-Man 2 pretty well and I thought Spider-Man was a pretty good origin story. What villain would you like to see on the big screen for Spider-Man 4?
I agree that it did take away from Don and Mikey but didn't you enjoy the Raph/Leo showdown? I thought it was great to finally see it on the big screen. So what was in the script in TMNT that was awesome but wasn't in the movie?TMNT was slightly messed up as well from a Leo/Raph fan creating it, which led to a movie revolving around those two, leaving poor Don and Mikey out in the cold.

The showdown was pretty good, yes. Intense, but there were so many things wrong, like...how on earth did Casey figure Raph out before Don (in the original Script, Casey DIDN'T figure it out) and other things that could have been done so much better..many many fans agree..Darth Knuckles wrote: I agree that it did take away from Don and Mikey but didn't you enjoy the Raph/Leo showdown? Actually, I wanted to see Pete's fav teacher do that mutagen thing where he get's his arm back from being a Croc. The name eludes me at the moment, but in truth the movies have steadily declined, so I'm most likely never going to watch another SM movie anyways, not after Venom.Darth Knuckles wrote:I agree that in Spider-Man 3 they messed up Venom....bad. I agree with you on Casey figuring out who Nightwatcher was too. I preferred the deleted scene of him being surprised it was Raph. If Don didn't know, then Casey shouldn't have known either.
I bet that Dr Kurt Conners' villains name was on the tip of your tongue wasn't it? I would also like to see The Lizard in a Spider-Man movie. There's been tons of hinting at The Lizard being a villain. Would you like me to start a thread about all of the rumors and facts about the upcoming Spider-Man 4? Because I can keep you posted on it if you want me to.
