(( OOC: Was I the only one who suspected something that drastic? I honestly did! Maybe it was the way Phoenix wrote it, or that Nightmist was alone and in Nemesis' grasp. But then I thought, "Nah. She wouldn't kill one of her characters so soon into playing the game." Boy, was I wrong with that one. Nice surprise, Phoenix. I understand why you did it. Nightmist will be missed. ))
She didn't come in with you? .. Strange. I saw her outside briefly, but she hasn't come inside yet.. It's probably nothing.. but I'm going check up on her. Beast mode.
Optimus didn't think it was too strange if Nightmist hadn't followed on inside with everyone. He knew she preferred the outdoors, but he could have sworn he asked everyone to let him at least know where they were, or where they going, so he would know in case of an emergency. Watching Rhinox exit the hangar, Primal glanced at Cheetor before he got a call from Feralnight on the radio.
"Feralnight to Optimus, I know you might be upset about this but we got the Decepticon heading towards the ship. Whether or not she's there already is beyond me but be on alert, she already has the Levianthan grounded."
Pulling out the radio, he listened to her report. Upset? More like confused and surprised. "Wait, Feralnight," he spoke, "Did I hear you right? Did you say Decepticon? I don't understand." How could there be an active Decepticon on this planet? Why would there be a Decepticon here in the fir... The falling object in the tundra, he pieced together. It was a Decepticon? But... how? From where? After shaking his head in disbelief, he immediately thought of Nightmist's disappearance. Primus, had she run into the 'Con? Alone? What came through his communication link next almost made his spark stop.
"Primal.. Maximal base, come in!," "If you have time to spare, a little assistance would be greatly appreciated!!"
"Nightmist! Hold on! We're on our way!" Judging by her exasperated voice, she wasn't breathing right, as if something was crushing or squeezing her. There was little time to waste. He had no idea what her situation was.

"Cheetor, inform everyone that we're on high alert!" Primal ordered him as he put the radio away again. "Nightmist may be face to face with a Decepticon." Sprinting out of the hangar, the leader followed Rhinox's direction and ignited his prime jets, blasting off toward Nightmist's location at maximum burn.

To Primal's surprise, a conversation continued through his link. Nightmist must have kept it opened.
"Don't waste your precious time," "Mmmph,"
He could hear another female voice and other noises, like a loud thud and energon radiation surges. Listening to all of it, he simply felt helpless, but he was ready to defend Nightmist no matter who the 'Con was.
"I'm a medic," "I can help you if you.."
Optimus detected the agony in her voice. Nightmist, hang on! Primus, please don't be too late! The following scream on the female Maximal's end nearly shorted his audio sensors.
"No.. I'm never going back!"
Never going back? Back where? Who are you?! And what are you doing here?! RELEASE HER! Optimus begged himself to block out the possible outcome in his mind; what he feared most. But suddenly, everything was quiet. "Nightmist? Nightmist, do you copy?!" he cried into his comm. link. Nothing. "No!"

Noticing some russeling with the trees below, Primal spotted Rhinox charging his way to help Nightmist. Shortly after he saw the gun fire from his friend aiming at the supposed Decepticon, whose signature did in fact read as said allegiance, he detected no other Predacons in the area. He didn't find Nightmist yet as his optics focused on the newcomer, but if Rhinox was firing at the female 'Con, then she must not have had their comrade in her grasp anymore. He wasn't sure if that was good or not, but he figured he'd assist with the firepower and drive the enemy away. Activating his shoulder-mounted missiles, he fired two of them at the Decepticon below as he began to descend toward the tree tops. Surely she'd retreat as she was outnumbered.

-----
"If your a spy too rodent, you don't have to keep it quiet. But I'm surprised no one can smell your stench coming from a mile away."
Rattrap glared at Frilla for a second, and then he grinned mischieviously. "Remember all that demolition expert an' master marksman stuff I said? I'd watch yer mouth if I was you, Scales." Then he looked back at Whitegrazer after he saw Saber-Fang slink by. She looked pretty exhausted.
"I used to carry alot of heavy machine weapons during my days as a soldier." "Now I travel light which is pretty liberating for me."
He followed her hand to the pistol on her waist. "Huh. You didn't happen to keep any of those heavy weapons, did ya?" he smiled lightly. He would've liked to have had them if she didn't want them. But seeing as she traveled in a stasis pod, it was unlikely she had anything of that nature with her now. Pity.
"Diffusion. Have you heard of it?" "It's an old Autobot self-defense style."
"Eh, not really. I don't follow all that martial arts dojo vodoo stuff," Rattrap answered the mare. But maybe she could teach him a thing or two. I could use it on ol' Dinoboob, he snickered to himself.

"Hey, Umbrella Head!" he shouted to Frilla when he saw her walk ahead of him. "Hold it! You follow me, remember? I'm givin' the tour here."

-----
Sounds like a good idea. Feralnight, fly up and contact the Axalon!
"You got it. Be safe you guys."
And you, Tigatron thought for Feralnight, watching her fly up and off toward the Axalon.
"She doesn't have a lot of time," "The Decepticon, I mean. Regardless of whatever plan she has in mind, her body is too expired to keep itself running out in the open with this much radiation. I give her a few cycles before she submits to stasis lock. Optimus and the others have the firepower and Sentinel to keep her at bay. Still, we probably should come up with a back up plan in case something goes wrong."
The tiger nodded to Orcariner in agreement. He only hoped no one would be harmed by the large Decepticon.
"Decepticons and Autobots aren't any different from one another except for ideologies and faction symbols. It's these differences in principle that eventually led us to believe other differences such as 'Cons are planes and 'Bots are cars. That's just a stereotype; on an anatomical level they're identical. By accepting that they're physically the same means that we're accepting that their weaknesses are the same. The primary weakness to a Decepticon's body is heat, but the epidermal layer of their armor is specifically designed to protect them to an extent. Autobot firepower enables more penetration, but with the Maximal 'downgrade' a lot of our firearms won't be able to pierce her armor. Missiles and any type of warhead will do the trick since it allows the projectile to punch through the shielding and release heat from within; ergo, internal combustion. The second best weakness we can exploit is the Decepticon's vulnerability to cold. It's the same weakness that kept her in stasis lock until the Predacons managed to fish her out of the ocean. The bad news is that both of our ice-based Maximals are here instead of back home. Even in the event that she still functions once we get back, our cold attacks are too slow to keep up with her."
Everything the orca explained was really quite intriguing to Tigatron. It was detailed and thorough, and he was learning quite a bit about their ancestors. Too bad it couldn't have been under better circumstances.
"Even your frost launcher can't hit a target that can obtain supersonic speeds in a nanoclick. That's where weakness number three comes in: overwhelming brute force. It's not even much of a weakness, just a principle rule in nature. I'm like what... somewhere between five to six meters in height. That's comparable to smaller Autobots who took on the forms of civilian automobiles. Primus knows that I pack more mass in me. When I analyzed the body, I noticed that the Decepticon was unarmed. Even as a flyer, she won't be able to touch me without getting close, so maybe I can goad her into engaging me in a fist fight. All I need is to be able to get a hold on her to prevent her from escaping, and we can freeze her back into stasis lock. Again, this is all assuming that Optimus doesn't kick her to the curb first."
Orcariner had a pretty good plan and had faith that it could work. Simply freeze her back into stasis lock. It was possible. But he was also right about Optimus unleashing his own firepower. Tigatron admired their leader's courage. He had no doubt that he would not hesitate to battle a Decepticon in order to protect his crew. He was certain he would be able to stop her in the condition she was in if not with the rest of the Maximals at the Axalon. Assuming, of course, their leader hadn't been too damaged earlier in the race with the Predacons to that stasis pod. The big cat looked at the penguin to see if he had anything to add, but he really thought that they should make haste and follow Feralnight.

((OOC: I hadn't expected that either.))

"Mach 8?" Steelclaw asked in disbelief. "I guess that's the end of that. I'm heading for the CR tanks."

He closed the communication and did precisely that.

On his way, he kept thinking, still trying to find a way to get Nemesis to the Darksyde, but he eventually resigned to the futility of the task, and his thoughts turned to Nemesis herself.

Maybe it was for the best that she was gone- as he'd first hoped would happen- and if she came back, it would only be a calamity.

He laid himself down on the tank's panel, and it began descending. What was she doing right now? Was she going to reach the Maximal base? What would they make of her? What would she make of-

* * *

Dinobot had gone in the base when he'd arrived with Optimus and Saber-Fang, but he hadn't seen any reason to stay with them, and he continued walking beyond the group that soon accumulated in the hallway, curious about Rhinox's progression on the Nomad's offensive capabilities. He reached the hangar and saw that he was alone in the room, even though it seemed like the small ship was being worked on only moments before, judging by the tools and rags littered around the room. Rhinox was normally much more tidy with his work.

Dinobot was about to shrug that fact off and head back for his quarters when he heard a scream from somewhere outside.

He immediately ran out of the hangar in the general direction of the noise, and soon after, the sound of machine guns announced themselves, guiding him more precisely. He dashed the remaining gap between him and the forest ahead and charged inward.

* * *

"You mean, like, 'bots in the Great War used diffusion?" Cheetor asked Whitegrazer when he heard her say it was an Autobot style. He thought it was cool to hear.
Optimus Primal wrote:Cheetor, inform everyone that we're on high alert!
Cheetor's curiosity was entirely forgotten as he turned to the rest of the group. They must have just heard what Optimus said, so he got on his com-link.

"Dinobot," he called. "Nightmist is stuck in a fight with a Decepticon. Optimus says be on high alert.

"Already noted," the response came back gruffly. Dinobot had just transformed, and was now drawing his weapons as he fired an optic blast in Nemesis' direction.

Cheetor ran to the bridge and got on the long range communicator.

"Cheetor to Northern crew!" he shouted, unable to think of a better name to call them all in the heat of the moment. "We've got a Decepticon at base. I don't know how close you are, but be cautious approaching. Optimus says be on high alert," he repeated.

"Yes a Decepticon." Feralnight replied over the radio and flew as quickly as she could praying that her teammates were safe. But she had a feeling there would be trouble or it would have passed, either way something bad would happen sooner or later, not aware of what was happening already.

----------------------------

Frilla ignored Rattrap and looked around, where were the others? She thought they'd be inside by now and it made her frown a bit in concern, "Something seems off, I'm going out to see what's up." She transformed and took off on her hind legs, running in a bipedal and upright coming back out to the hanger. It was empty. There was something definitely wrong for no one else to be here and she came out just before she saw Dinobot taking off towards the forest and hearing gun fire. "This can't be good."

"It's not voodoo." Whitegrazer shook her head, "Diffusion focuses on mind over matter in reality. The real principal of it is using your own enemy's strength against them in summary. Use their own momentum and knock them down with precision."

She was about to go into more detail but showing was more preferable than explaining beside she will think the rat will get bored with the fundamentals and want to see the moves. Why were some mechs so impatient? Fundamentals were important and it...she ranted in her own mind as Frilla and Rattrap traded their disdain towards each other.

"Well, it was effective on Megatron." Whitegrazer smirked, remembering their battle even though if Nightmist wasn't there, Whitegrazer might have die. She needed to meet her again. She will find her after she gets settled in if Frilla and Rattrap didn't tear each other up first.
"You mean, like, 'bots in the Great War used diffusion?" Cheetor asked Whitegrazer when he heard her say it was an Autobot style. He thought it was cool to hear.
"Why yes, Cheetor!"
"Dinobot," he called. "Nightmist is stuck in a fight with a Decepticon. Optimus says be on high alert.
Cheetor's attention was soon distracted but Whitegrazer heard Nightmist's name and a Decepticon?

"What...?"

Whitegrazer looked at Rattrap and Frilla then back at the already gone Cheetor.

"She saved my life and we must help the others, if they are fighting a Decepticon..."

Making up her mind, she charged towards the hangar along with Frilla, hearing the gunfire.

Wintesong was about to walk before she heard the transmission from Cheetor and glanced at the others, "Ah slag this isn't good at all." She said ad growled, "Don't know about you guys but I'm going ahead no way am I waiting around here." Without letting them talk the tigeress took off ignoring the slight sting of the frostbite she still was suffering. It would wait till later to be in the CR chamber, right now the Decepticon was a major issue that had to be dealt with. But it would take some time to reach the Axalon on foot even when running and Wintersong doubted it would take long for Icebreaker and the others to catch up before long.

(Heh, yeah I knew she'd do something like this. She did mention she found it boring if she kept two bird characters and she hates the sicky sweet personality of Moonshine/Nightmist. She was always more into playing the villain and even if that character was a good/innocent character like Skynight, interacting with Skynight would of usually lead to very.. bad things.. like being locked inside a vault, lead to ambushes from allies and so on. Nemesis on the other hand.. will probably be a very scary Predacon. )

Icebreaker nodded listening Got it, I'll use every freeze ability and plasma missile if I have to. he then said, Icebreaker himself didn't know alot about the ancestor technology either. He'd heard about such things from some of the older members of his rescue unit, but it wasn't discussed much.

As they came towards the beach, Icebreaker moved ahead of Orcariner Alright Tigatron, climb up on Orcariner and hold tight. You might want to transform to robot mode and hold onto his fin. Orcariner, when we get in the water I want you to put your lifts to full power and float above the water. Lets see how fast I can go with no stops.. Maximize!

Icebreaker suddenly transformed to his robot mode, his visor and battle mask sliding over his face as he walked towards Orcariner hitching up the cables he used before to tow the whale. He tossed his shield out as it unfolded onto the ground. He wasn't sure if Wintersong would get there before him, but didn't matter, he just had to get as much of the group back to base as quick as possible.

Glowstick turned off the radio, continuing course to the Darksyde. He remained quiet as the craft started to come in towards the predacon base, slowing and lowering in altitude it floated into the hanger and landed, the cargobay door shifting as it leaned against the craft. Glowstick let out a sigh and started to power down the ship. It'd be a long and miserable night for him. Use the rear air lock to exit.. This is going to take me awhile to fix.. I'll see if I can get Sonar or Frilla to help out.. he spoke up, standing up slowly and exiting the pilot seat, then floated out of the bridge to the cargobay, exiting through the rear airlock.

He made his way into the halls, stopping in front of Frilla's room. He lifted his tentacle and knocked on the door with the photophore, no response. He raised an optic ridge and reached for the door handle attempting to open the pocket door, finding it was locked. What the.. Hey lizard girl, you in? no response. He floated down the hall towards Sonar's room, then knocked on the door Hey Sonar.. you in?

______________
Megatron's optic twitched as he heard banging on the doors outside of his room, seeming to be having some sort of hangover from the drug he was injected with. He rubbed his face with his hand letting out a low growl, still thinking over how the last battle went. If it wasn't for that shot, he would of been able to keep up the battle and even gotten to the fallen Optimus Primal. Victory was so close at hand..

"Cheetor to Northern crew!" "We've got a Decepticon at base. I don't know how close you are, but be cautious approaching. Optimus says be on high alert,"
Saber sighed sitting up in her berth.

Great, just what I need. She thought, getting and transformed into her beast form.

She was still tired but she still had to fight, there was no telling what that Con would do, she headed for the lift and followed Dinobot's scent to the Con's location.

Hey Sonar.. you in?
Sonar growled deeply.

This is why I'm sleeping in my lair for now on! He thought irriated.

"What now?!" He shouted at his door.

Glowstick's optics dimmed as he heard the shouting Er.. Just got back, the Leviathan suffered alot of damage inside and Frilla doesn't seem to be in her room or responding. I guess you can help put the cargobay door back on tomorrow.

It seemed Sonar was tired, the battle must of went completely horrible he assumed.

Rolling his shoulders, he opened the door to see the squid. "Lead the way."

(ooc: Not quite sure where the info came from.. I think NK might have posted it initally.. Nemesis never had a chest insignia as a Decepticon, only wing ones. Figure she'll need a shoulder pred symbol or something soon, since the feathers will cover the wings. ;) )

Although a bit shaky from the alterations done to her frame, shrinking her down to less than a third of her original height as well as changing her alternative mode to that of an avian nature, Nemesis quickly realized that her reduced size did prove beneficial due to the increased agility in this terrain. Nevertheless she was in a state of shock over what just occurred, looking around with a confused look on her face.

It didn't take long to dawn on her that she must have consumed part of the Maximal, bringing about certain changes as a result. In fact Nemesis could almost feel a fraction of the fading spark of the avian Maximal inside, as the nanotechnology inside her continued to implement the new technology into her own circuitry. Over the years Nemesis had consumed many objects into herself, ranging from weapons to space junk to fallen enemies. On rare occasions even parts from the still living had been donated for emergency repairs. In such cases brief glimpses of memories from the dying individual would occasionally transfer to Nemesis, presenting the Decepticon female with fractions of the thoughts and feelings of the deceased at the moment of death.

The femme briefly caught a fraction of the frantic radio transmission from one of the Maximals just as the consciousness of the avian Maximal faded away. She knew they would be coming at any moment.

Even so she had not expected the first to arrive to be the heavy artillery, as Rhinox came bursting through the woods with his weapons blasting. Nemesis would have expected this form of violent approach from her fellow Decepticons, even a few Autobots, but Rhinox appeared more like a rapidly appraching enraged tank with a gaping mouth on his chest.
This.. Is unforgivable!
Nemesis instinctively leaped to the side, bounced off a tree, and did a backflip before she touched the ground again so that she could still face the enraged rhino. Realizing she still had no weapons and that her energy levels were far from ideal, this was hardly a favorable fight for her. Although she was trained in close quarter combat, getting close to the shooting rhino would prove difficult. The other option, of attempting to fly away, seemed like a more logical solution at the moment. Even so her current alternative mode was new to her and she had no experience in the flying capacities of a bird, as she had spent her entire life as a space craft until now.

The female did a barrel roll to attempt to dodge another barrage of incoming bullets from Rhinox, wincing as a couple of them pierced through her left wing in the process. Folding her wings in around herself, she landed in mid roll and quickly pushed herself to her feet. Just then a missile slammed into the ground to her right narrowly avoiding her, with another one in close pursuit landing right behind her and knocking her down from the impact.

Realizing more Maximals were rapidly approaching, with the appearance of someone firing laser blasts at her as well, Nemesis quickly went over her options again.

Concentrating to remember, she did have a vague recollection of the transmission being sent to the dying Maximal.
"Nightmist? Nightmist, do you copy?!"
The female pushed herself up, keeping her hands visible to show she had no weapons, as she did her best impression of the avian Maximal.

"Wait, don't shoot! It's me.. Nightmist!"

Right after Primal's missiles had blown up the earth around the female, he dropped in fast and landed with a thud, almost falling on a knee and balancing himself with his finger tips as they touched the ground. While the dust and debris began to clear, Optimus stood up straight and activated the wrist cannons on his right arm, targeting the intruder. He had not seen Nightmist's body yet, at least, what was left of it. It probably wasn't wise to show up already damaged, which was clear on his chest that had been hit earlier by Waspinator, and his moderately damaged side of his stomach from Steelclaw, because they were blunt points of weakness. Still, he ignored the aches and throbbing, and stood confidently with his other Maximals.
"Wait, don't shoot! It's me.. Nightmist!"
"Hold your fire!" Optimus commanded Rhinox and Dinobot. Although he did not believe this fembot was Nightmist, it was her voice among other obvious things that gave her away, he certainly didn't want to kill her. They could at least try and get some information from her, and if they showed her mercy, well, that was simply the Maximal thing to do. While he wondered where Nightmist was, he didn't take his red optics off of this Decepticon, who didn't really resemble a 'Con at all. Something was odd here.

"My scanners indicate that you are not a Maximal," the leader said firmly, implying that he knew what she was and he probably wouldn't tolerate anymore lies as his optics narrowed. "What have you done with Nightmist?" He purposely avoided any introductions.

-----
"Nope, wish I did though if I knew something like this situation would happen."
"Hah!" Rattrap bursted out at 'Grazer. "Sister, if I knew something like this situation would happen, I wouldn't be here!" Amen!
"It's not voodoo." "Diffusion focuses on mind over matter in reality. The real principal of it is using your own enemy's strength against them in summary. Use their own momentum and knock them down with precision." "Well, it was effective on Megatron."
"Ooooh. I gotchya. Yeah, you should show me some of that," he grinned, especially if it worked on old grape face. Interesting.
"Something seems off, I'm going out to see what's up."
"What...?" "She saved my life and we must help the others, if they are fighting a Decepticon..."
Frilla was right, although Rattrap would never admit it. "Whoa, guys, wait!" Rattrap chased after Whitegrazer and Frilla. "We don't even know what's goin' on! If they need back-up, they'll call for us! Optimus, Rhinox and Dinobot are already gone." Not realizing that Saber-Fang had also left. Rattrap knew that if they were needed, they would've been told so before the others had left. Optimus may very well want them to stay at the base, despite how bad the situation sounded.

-----
"Ah slag this isn't good at all." "Don't know about you guys but I'm going ahead no way am I waiting around here."
Tigatron almost followed in Wintersong's paw prints until Icebreaker spoke. He stopped himself from darting off.
Alright Tigatron, climb up on Orcariner and hold tight. You might want to transform to robot mode and hold onto his fin.
Nodding, the tiger said, "Tigatron, maximize," and he transformed to his robot mode with a low growl and walked over to Orcariner. It did feel a bit odd to climb onto a fellow Maximal like this but it would be much quicker to reach the base this way. Grabbing the orca's fin, the Maximal held on tight and said, "All right, Orcariner. I'm ready."

"Wait, don't shoot! It's me.. Nightmist!"
Saber wasn't buying that for a second, she lowered her head and bared her teeth toward the Decepticon.
"Hold your fire!"
The tired cat looked at Optimus, surely he didn't believe what the Con was saying?
"My scanners indicate that you are not a Maximal," "What have you done with Nightmist?"
Saber inwardly smirked then turned her attention back to the Con, she let out a small growl, she was itching to fight the new comer, but she that she wouldn't last more the a few minutes should it come down to said fight.

Make your move, Con I dare you. Give me a reason to attack. She thought panting slightly.

Glowstick nodded leading the way towards the Predacon hanger. Outside the Leviathan it looked fine other then the cargo bay door hatch was somehow knocked loose. Inside revealed destroyed, eaten, and torn up parts inside of the ship with shrapnel seen sticking up from the floor from Nemesis's actions. Glowstick then started dragging some spare parts out for replacement on the ship.

Rhinox stopped firing, lowering one of his guns and putting it away as he walked towards Nightmist, his other chaingun still pointed on Nemesis as he leaned down examining the body. This is terrible.. Data tracks, spark chamber.. She's just a twisted husk.. I've never seen anything like this before.. Rhinox then said dishearteningly, he stood up looking towards Nemesis.

Snow Trix had left the Levianthan a bit after Glowstick had left and went to her quarters. It was a bit surprising they had left the mission without any real injury this time though the Maximals it was another it was another story. One stupid move could get a bot killed. "And they say the Maximals have brains." She muttered.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wintersong had slowed a bit, not quite sure how close she was by now and her legs were beginning to hurt due to some of the frostbite she had suffered. 'Maybe I should have waited and traveled with the others.' She thought with a sigh pausing a moment to stretch before continuing as fast as her form would allow. It was times like this she wished she had a faster beast mode but Wintersong dealt with what she had and if she got there last then so be it. There were enough Maximals there to take on one Decepticon.
