I'm glad you've decided to do this, and I will definitely look forward to seeing this.
Also I happen to be a big Star Trek nut, so I would LOVE it if this movie is similar to Star Trek.
I was curious about something though. Is it possible that there may be human characters, or at least one or two, interacting with the Maximals? I just think that that might be a cool twist on things. And no, I don't mean the prehistoric humans, I mean... maybe there could actually be a human or two working with the Maximals.
This could be especially cool if you want this to aim for an older audience, and if you have an adult--possibly someone in their mid-twenties or early thirties, or perhaps around forty at most--interacting with the Maximals as part of the crew. Perhaps it could be something like an Earth/Cybertron alliance thing. Like, I mean, it would not be someone obnoxious like Kicker, or "kid friendly" like Sari. (I mean, the point of this wouldn't be to throw in a character just so kids can identify with someone or whatever.)
I just think it might be interesting if there is a team member who is human, but falls under these qualifications:
1: It has to be someone who's intelligent, possibly have a degree in engineering and/or mathemetics. In other words, show the person has a brain and knows how to use it.
2: The person has to have a specific purpose for being there with the Maximals in the first place. Like, maybe he or she is there as part of an alliance thing, or perhaps he or she grew up on Cybertron or something. Either way, he or she would also need to have an exact position. Maybe this person is a scientist, or knows a lot about Cybertronian "anatomy" so that he or she could render emergency repairs if needed.
In other words, I think it would be awesome to have a human character present who is actually useful in a way that makes sense. The character would be older and more mature than Kicker or Sam, plus the character wouldn't have something magically happen to make him or her important. (Such as being in the right place at the right time, or having an ancestor who just happened to have something that's important to the Cybertronians, or just happen to be part of some prophecy to find the Matrix or whatever. )
If a human character has real skills, has a real brain in his noggin, and has excellent training in at least one specific area, he or she could truly be a usedful part of the team in a non Mary-Sue way. A way that would not be relying on a "gut feeling" Kicker-style, or a magical key Sari-style.
Of course, this character would probably need to be armed with a weapon most of the time, since humans are fragile compared to the big robots. But perhaps this could add some interesting moments. The Predacons could capture and possibly torture or threaten this individual, or he/she could be easily injured out in the field sometimes.
This could possibly lead to some moments where the human character could feel a tad inferior, especially if it takes a broken leg a lot longer to heal than the Maximal's injuries, cuz they can just step into the CR chamber. (Unless you'd rather put in some futuristic medical technology, such as the "bone knitters" like they have in Star Trek.)
Also maybe this could lead to some over-protectiveness at times from the Maximals, if they start to think that the human shouldn't even go outside without an escort because she/he might get hurt. This might make the human character feel he or she has to prove himself/herself, and maybe it would make an even bigger impact on things if the character is female.
Of course, I'm just babbling about some general ideas here. And of course, the main focus should be on the Maximals and Predacons, of course. But I'm just saying that this idea might be interesting. Then again, you guys can feel free to disagree with me if you wish.

Life is like a novel. You don't know how it will end, or how long it will be.
