Nemesis wrote:"Umbra.. My apologies for sending you out on a mission so soon after your return from the Axalon, but your talents are required. I understand that you've been been keeping Starshadow in line. Can a similar technology be used to make sure Terrorsaur behaves himself? Perhaps in the form of an undetectable implant capable of injecting him with a neurotoxin should he require it? Nothing lethal, merely something to put him to sleep when needed."

Umbra gave a nod. It's not a problem ma'am. Hm.. undetectable.. so you don't want him aware of it?.. I don't know about a neurotoxin.. but perhaps I can build something and slip it into him without him noticing.. A cybertronian body has many exploits that can produce those results.. I'll work on it when I get back. Umbra then held up the drone he got from Tarantulas Tarantulas needed a little help with getting this drone over to the Axalon.. and I was looking forward to my first test flight. I'll report if I detect anything unusual.

Umbra smiled then gave a polite bow while putting the drone away in his leg compartment, then walked away heading outside of the Darksyde, hopping up onto the ship and starting to climb along it with his tentacles to the highest point. While Umbra was used to his old jump jet, he wasn't sure how these new ones would work, feeling it might be better to test them in mid air and break them in.This would also allow him to get used to this method of flight, which was very different from the other fliers.. as Umbra didn't have proper wings, acting more like a powered paraglider or hangglider, too much thrust might make it difficult for him to keep lift or fly out of control. Extending his tentacles, they flattened out and stretched the webbing along them.

He then ran off the ship and into the air, starting to glide down, gaining some distance from the ship. His back siphon shifted position as the energon rocket engine kicked in starting to increase throttle slowly. Adjusting his tentacles as he caught the air, he started to raise up into the air, then adjusted his body's position to be more comfortable, increasing the amount of thrust more and raising higher up into the air, he then started to lean, circling around the Darksyde as he climbed in altitude. The Ninja was surprised how familiar the sensation of flight was to when he swam in the water, though water and air had some similar mechanics to them.

Forming a smile, he turned and flew off in the direction of the Maximal base, his camouflage taking on a color pattern of the sky in hopes to reduce his visibility, but he'd probably have to land outside sensor range and come in on foot, as there were too many risks in trying to fly close by.

((OOC: I will post Blackarachnia's response for now. I hope this post is all right. :D ))
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"...No," Rhinox began slowly and figured there was no way to put it delicately. "No, it's not natural. According to Whitegrazer, Zodiac has found a weapon that the Vok left behind and he's trying to activate it."
"Well great," Blackarachnia said, rolling her optics. She knew it. And here she was stuck with the task of helping them stop Zodiac from killing them. If she could, she would just high-tailed it out of here, but it would be stupid of her to do that. No base. No materials. She would be defenseless and also still in Tarantulas' grip. She sighed. She had to help them.... For her own survival, of course. But if things get even more deadly towards her person, she was bailing. "Is everyday doomsday for you all?"
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"It's located here?"
Blackarachina gave the big Maximal ape distance. Her body still hasn't forgiven him for those bullets, tearing through her metal finish. Also, she could just see and feel the tension radiating from him. Megatron was always subtle with his emotions. Unless the purple tyrant wanted to relieve such stress with beating up his own incompetent crew. Or he just wanted to throw a temper tantrum because he felt like it. It was so easy to read the Maximal leader's emotions. And right now, she didn't want to say or do anything to invoke an aggressive response.

She looked at the image in front of her. Seeing the dormant volcano area, she searched through her own files, trying to remember where she saw that area from.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"Yes. Optimus, Aurora and Whitegrazer are working on a virus to transmit to Zodiac that should take him down. It was Aurora's brilliant idea, essentially using nanomachines against nanomachines."
That actually intrigued Blackarachnia. Too bad she wasn't involved in that. Those nanomachines would be quite useful to her. Especially, their healing capabilities.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"How can Whitegrazer help?"
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"Well, she's... Her body is infested with Zodiac's nanotech from their confrontation earlier.""So she hopes to extract them in order to use them in Aurora's concoction to develop as much of the virus as needed. Meanwhile, Rattrap and Landslide are gathering weapons and tools that have the most effect on the shape shifter by electrocution. Blackarachnia here may be able to help us with any alien encryption that we might run into, or with any other valuable information. After all, if Zodiac gets control of this weapon, we're all in trouble. He won't discriminate between the factions, he'll take us down as well as Megatron."
Well, maybe she should let Zodiac take care of all of her enemies then?

Then it clicked. She remembered that mountain.

"Megatron once toyed with sending a team inside there. But at the time, other things caught his optic. Also, the heat inside could melt our paint off. " Blackarachnia still wondered what changed Megatron's mind about not going there. It couldn't been just the heat. And he certainly wasn't going to send her either way. Not after last time, but like the sneaky spider she was, she did venture inside the mountain. "I went here once before, but at the time, there was nothing of value here. I checked. Or at least, thought I did. Though, I was in a hurry. The environment in there is deadly if you spend too much time inside." Probably the only reason Zodiac was dealing with it well was the nanomachines, "If you plan on having a team going inside, you better make your moves quick. I know the passages, so I will lead whoever you plan on sending through them. "
NaitoKage wrote:Lad.. you've had more then enough fighting.. Listen.. I dunno what is gonna happen to this ship, it might be best if ya take Cheetor n' fly somewhere and hide out fer now..
Blackarachnia stared at Landslide then at Optimus.

"Well, since you guys are used to the heat, we should be fine, " Her voice dripped with sarcasm and annoyance.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Phoenix wrote:"That all sounds so strange..," she finally admitted, "Are you sure you're okay? I mean.. you've got a maniac in your head!"
Whitegrazer smiled, "I'm fine. Really. It is uncomfortable to have someone such as Zodiac, but Zodiac doesn't know nor was trained in this situation. The only thing he can do to me for the time being is talk to me or make threats. Or boasting his greatest victory. Which I believe is premature. I have the advantage."

Then her smile dropped a bit. That was true. She had more experience in this. Not Zodiac. She wanted to be careful. To be cautious in her dealings with him. She tried to reason with him. Several times. Nothing seemed to be working.

Her words meant nothing little to him.
Phoenix wrote:"What do homocidal maniacs like to talk about?,
"Right now, he seems more focused on killing us more than anything. He just... can't let go."

She shook her head. Despite it all, she still pitied the shapeshifter, but was she letting her pity keep her from doing more?

She sat her arm down, letting Aurora took whatever she needed. She smiled at the little one, watching her dabbing alcohol. She didn't feel a thing. As a person who has seen and been through alot, small things like needles are just tickles.
Phoenix wrote:"I think it's ready!" "The virus is ready! Have you decided on who gets to deliver it?,"
She continued smiling, "Great job, Aurora."

Aurora's question was very much valid. Who was going to carry such a weapon? Maybe she could. After all, it may give her an excuse to draw herself closer to Zodiac's location. Because the closer she gets to him, the stronger the link becomes. Of course, it could be dangerous because it was a two-way street. Aurora's comment about Zodiac earlier was correct, if broad. Zodiac has been though the pit and back. Zodiac was a threat, but he was also a victim. A victim of experimentation that wouldn't have happened if... if she had been careful. If she hadn't trusted the wrong people. If she hadn't been so... so...

Since Aurora had a channel open, she addressed those in the bridge. Like Aurora unaware of Optimus' presence inside. "We should prepare an emergency evacuation, just in case." The idea of losing the Axalon wasn't something she wanted, but if they got out, they could still be able to avoid destruction. "I would like to join the team. Because of my connection towards Zodiac, the link would get stronger. I might be able to distract him greater than I would if I stay here."
Phoenix wrote:And still you know nothing at all..
So arrogant. What could she do to distract him for at least a little while?

Zodiac isn't Nemesis, Whitegrazer. Remember he stayed. She left.

I know that, TyCross.

Then you know what you must do then. Zodiac... He remains me of someone I knew. I believe... When I first meet her, she was a really difficult bot. I mean, very difficult. Her optics were sharp and piercing as a blade. Yet, wild like a predator staring at a prey. Though, sometimes, her eyes were cold and cerebral. It was so diffiuclt for her own allies, aliies she didn't consider herself friendship material, especially towards lesser beings, to trust her or to understand her. I mean, how could you understand someone so... so... What's the word?

Arrogant. I think I know your friend, TyCross. She believed she knew it all. She didn't listen to the counsel of those she deemed inferior. Only those with high power, even if the power or authority she didn't recognize.

You know... I heard she has changed. A lot. Especially after certain incidents. She seems a better person than before. I always wondered. What changed her? What changed her, Whitegrazer? Do you know?

Do you, TyCross?

Whitegrazer was shocked at TyCross' pause. Wait, he didn't know? He always had a connection to her, and yet, he didn't know that? She could feel TyCross' presence behind her, staring down at her. Curisous. Wanting an answer. She thought he already had it.

Actually, I think her friends could use a bit of her old self right now.

What do you mean?

She learned the hard way. Maybe Zodiac needs the same lesson.

Whitegrazer stiffened.

To feel that cold, hard lesson. Concentrate, Whitegrazer. Use his connection. Draw out out his memories. Make him feel. Make him remember. Over and over again. Something like a chilly breeze brushed past her. She felt the anger rising from TyCross. His voice was low yet sharp. Make him fall to his knees. Reminding him of everything he has been though. What he has done to you and your comrades. To Optimus. Remember what he did. What he is trying to do now. Do it, Whitegrazer! Make him learned that lesson whatever it was. If you don't.... Then I will do it. And I'm not as merciful or as forgiving as you are.

She closed her optics, feeling that overwhelming anger and hate radiating off TyCross. TyCross never made a threat he didn't carry out. The fact he was threatening even her made her sick to her stomach, but in a way, TyCross was right. Zodiac wasn't listening to her. Nothing was getting through to him, and yet, he continued to try again and again to destroy those she loved. Torment and terrorize Optimus. Remembering the shot he fired at Aurora just to cause pain. Everything was to cause them pain. Pain. So much pain.

But she wasn't going to like it.

Zodiac, she stood up from the bed. Warning him, giving him yet another chance. If I die, the shock of my death will carry over to you. Do you think you can handle the feeling of someone else's death? I never meant for this connection nor did you. So I will ask again. Stop what you are doing. Step back and walk away.

She sensed it through Zodiac's connection. She looked around, feeling Zodiac's annoyance.

"Predacon?"

Phoenix wrote: The voice of their newest recruit chimed in just then, responding for Inferno. Nemesis listened to his brief report, hesitating for the briefest of time before granting Deathroll's request to take Inferno's place. Granted the former Decepticon had proven himself worthy thus far, but he was still very new to their base and knew little of the technology of today. Still.. there was no time like the present for him to get acquainted to it, she supposed. And perhaps Tarantulas could make himself useful while Umbra took care of business with the Maximals. "Very well, Deathroll," she responded via comlink, "You seem like a quick study so feel free to learn more about our base and computer systems. Perhaps Tarantulas will be kind enough to offer some guidance if you should require it. "

"Understood Commander, Deathroll out" replied the gator pred as he set to work trying to figure out the computer, gingerly exploring its assortment of buttons to ensure he didn't push something dangerous.

"Hmph, I wonder if this is what fleshlings experience when they try to comprehend decepticon technology" Deathroll grumbled, referring of course to any organic alien form of life, such entities having always been regarded as inferior to Cybertronians by he and his decepticon brethren...It was still strange for him to know organic material was now part of his being, that the descendants of his kind were now known as predacons and such animalistic forms were apparently now the norm.

"How can I be behind the times while I'm technically in the present...MY present...But to the rest of the crew and Lord Megatron this is the past...So much to learn, so little time to process it all" Deathroll snarled to himself as he pushed a button that he thought would bring up the tutorial, but instead caused the liquid contents of Waspinator's CR Tank to start swirling round and round like a whirlpool instead.

"Gggrrrr, well, that wasn't it" Deathroll sighed in annoyance, ignoring Waspinator's distress as he kicked the computer and growled "Just tell me how you work you useless piece of slag!"

"Affirmative, user tutorial activated" replied a femmine voice, surprising Deathroll as he turned around to face the Predacon Computer Globe, commonly utilized by Megatron, but now responding to the new sub-commander's request.

It may have been automatic, or perhaps the ship's AI sensed it was in danger and had enough sense of self-preservation to act before the predacon warrior did any real damage.

"Well, thank Primus for little miracles. Alright computer, explain to me how the ship's security system works" Deathroll inquired, grateful that something these predacons had produced was user friendly to him.

"Affirmative Sub-Commander" replied the computer as it carried out his request and began to explain how it surveillance array operated.

Elsewhere, Megatron was still studying his namesake's manifest on the lost decepticons, cocking an optic ridge as he ran across some familiar names amidst the sea of forgotten operatives that made up the majority of the list.

"Bombshell, Shrapnel, and Kickback....Yyyyesss...Those who would become the insecticons. I'd forgotten about them...If my history lessons from Cryotek hold true they weren't part of Megatron's raiding party aboard the Ark, and survived on their own for countless stellar cycles by adopting crude beast forms of their own. Those three could be quite useful...Or a serious hindrance to the Predacon cause" Megatron pondered to himself, torn between the possibility of recruiting one of the most famous decepticon subfactions of all time into his fold and the potential threat they could pose to his operation given their history of gluttony and treacherousness, the latter said to be second only to Starscream's.

"I suppose the real question I should be asking myself is how and when in history did those three come back online after the Nemesis crashed? It had to be sometime before the advent of human technology otherwise they would have chosen vehicular modes rather than beast modes, if you can even call them that" Megatron reasoned as he watched the scrapes and scratches on his armored hand fade away in his CR bath, "However, that could mean they came online anytime from the day of the crash itself to millions of years into this world's future, assuming they're even awake yet, and if they are, how would they react upon stumbling across my army? Or the maximals for that matter."

There were still many other potentially valuable decepticons for him to choose from of course, but these three were the first to appear on the list that were famous enough for him to have heard of before now, and given their unique abilities, he had to decide whether or not they were a threat he would need to neutralize immediately should they crawl out from whatever rock they were hiding under, or an asset he could use to his advantage. Either way, he would be making use of his D-Tracer again soon, the more decepticons he recruited, the better.

OOC: Deathroll's no fool, but I figured this would be a faster and more entertaining way for him to learn how to use the ship's computer than me pretending to know how an alien ship's technology would work and writing it all out in detail XD. Oh, also added a new topic for discussion in the Beast Wars Talk section of the forum in case anyone is interested :3

Got it right ere' Lad. Grenade launcher would do a better job at causing avalanches.. but that's toast at the moment. I was a might busy puttin' this in, but I got a spare welder on hand an' replaced the fuses in my on board one.
Rattrap smiled at Landslide. He liked the big guy. He was inventive and kind, and he could take a lot of hits. The beetle had been a great addition to their team in support and bravery. "You know, yer all right, 'Slider," he admitted as he worked on his own weapons. While he would keep a couple normal demo charges with him just in case they needed a distraction or an avalanche, he also changed some that could emit a temporary electrical charge when they were detonated, whether attached to the bot or close enough to the charge on the ground or in mid-air. They couldn't do much for their size, but it would be enough to damage or stun some of Zodiac's nanobots if only for a short time; enough for someone to take advantage of the brief weakness.
I'll admit I'm startin' to wish I was a wee bit bigger fer holdin' that much cargo.. maybe something I'll look into later.. Anyway, we should meet up with Rhinox n' the others.
"You get any bigger and yer gonna need your own base," the rodent smirked. Picking up his weapons, he followed Landslide to the command center. He was relieved to see Optimus repaired but how was his mental state...?
Lad.. you've had more then enough fighting.. Listen.. I dunno what is gonna happen to this ship, it might be best if ya take Cheetor n' fly somewhere and hide out fer now..
"I'm not going to hide any where," Primal said coldly and defiantly, looking at Landslide as he and Rattrap showed up.
"The virus is ready! Have you decided on who gets to deliver it?,"
"Excellent, Aurora!" Rhinox commended her. "Bring it here quickly."

"I am," Optimus immediately answered Aurora over her transmission before anyone else could object.

Of course you will. For everything Zodiac has done to you, Nexus, your Maximals... You want revenge! Take it! Make him pay!

Optimus grumbled inwardly at the voice. Did he really want to make him to pay for what he had done; revenge? Did he want to kill him? He had to be stopped...

"Optimus, it may be wise for you to sit this one out," Rhinox suggested. "Whitegrazer can deliver it."

"No! I will not continue to put someone else's life in danger for my mistakes. He wants me. He'll get close to me."

For a slower, more satisfying death. Am I right?

SHHH! Optimus told the whisper. "Whitegrazer can keep him distracted without worrying about injecting him. It will be one less thing on her mind. Besides, if Whitegrazer carries the vile with both of them sharing their thoughts, what if Zodiac finds out what's in her possession?"

"It could very well end up that he finds out you have it instead."

"It doesn't matter. He's going to come after me regardless."

"He's not so fond of Whitegrazer either. He'll target her as well, if only to break their connection."

"By taking her life. I can't allow anyone else to take this risk, Rhinox." Now who's being insubordinate? a whisper snickered in Primal's head. He rolled his shoulders - as if he were stretching them - to fight off the voice.
"Well great," "Is everyday doomsday for you all?"
"Probably about 360 days out of an Earth's year," Rattrap answered the she-spider. "Don't think you can handle it?" he taunted.
"Megatron once toyed with sending a team inside there. But at the time, other things caught his optic.
Rhinox, Rattrap and Optimus were immediately drawn to Blackarachnia's words, but it was the ape who spoke. "Megatron already knew about this location?!" Always one step behind, Primal! Probably ten steps behind by now. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! a voice laughed inside. Optimus tried ignoring it. "What could possibly take precedence over a discovery like this that he wouldn't hesitate to get his hands on and exterminate us?"
Also, the heat inside could melt our paint off." "I went here once before, but at the time, there was nothing of value here. I checked. Or at least, thought I did. Though, I was in a hurry. The environment in there is deadly if you spend too much time inside." "If you plan on having a team going inside, you better make your moves quick. I know the passages, so I will lead whoever you plan on sending through them."
Rhinox and Optimus looked at each other with bewilderment. They had someone who was willing to help and was familiar with the area? "If it was meant to stay hidden, then it could have easily been overlooked," the engineer assured Blackarachnia. "We would appreciate your intel with the navigation," he added with gratitude.

"There's still the matter of the extreme temperature, if it's still active," Optimus mentioned. "None of us are impervious to that kind of heat, except for Landslide and Ironclaw, but even they have their limitations. We could open some vents with some explosives but we'd have to be mindful of avalanches."

"We're actually gonna let dis Predacon lead us through the tunnels? What if she knows about booby-traps and let's us take the fall for 'em?" Rattrap, ever the skeptic, pointed out, staring at Blackarachnia in his usual suspicious nature. "Not ta mention dat Tarantulas may still gain control over her."

"Then you can take point with her," Primal said.

The Spy sighed with annoyance and irritation. But since it was better than leaving her to making all the decisions and turns, he didn't argue.

"Rattrap is right," Rhinox agreed with his shorter friend. Sending Optimus and Blackarachnia on a mission together, both of which were suffering from mental instability or someone trying to control their body? "However, we don't have a lot of options here. We're just going to have to rely on faith."

"Faith? No, yeah, that's just great, Big Green. Dis is what we're reduced to. You know, I gotta feelin' dat we're all gonna die."
"Well, since you guys are used to the heat, we should be fine,"
Since they could do without her sarcasm and mockery, Rhinox, having noticed her keeping her distance from Optimus probably because of his earlier onslaught on her with his own chain gun, finally came to some decisions. He was, after all, in control here ever since Optimus stepped down. However, he was still wary about Primal's condition. Would he be able to stay focused? Sending someone like him into the fray wasn't the greatest idea, and it could cause problems and mistakes, but he was the fastest flier they had right now.
"We should prepare an emergency evacuation, just in case." "I would like to join the team. Because of my connection towards Zodiac, the link would get stronger. I might be able to distract him greater than I would if I stay here."
"I'll handle the emergency evacuation. Optimus, take Blackarachnia to the mountain and secure the area until the others show up," purposely pairing them together. "Don't engage Zodiac when you arrive, we just need to keep him distracted, which Whitegrazer will also help with as she explained. Landslide, you'll take Whitegrazer and Rattrap with you. Aurora will remain here with me."

(( OOC: Phoenix, if you want Aurora to go too, then I'll edit and include that she ride with Landslide. Since she made the virus, I didn't see it necessary that she join the rest of them for such a dangerous mission. Anyway, Rhinox is tired of being left alone all the time at the base. But they might have company soon anyway. How come the Preds can't feel the earthquakes at the Darksyde? Vibrations of tremors and aftershocks can travel pretty far through rock underground and their bases aren't hundreds of miles apart. ))
"Well, that's just prime!"

Without having some sort of reference, it would be impossible to track Zodiac down on this vast planet. He wondered if Dirge would have any information regarding his master's location. As he held Dirge's head two cables protruded from his palm and forced themselves into the base, where Dirge's neck would have been. Ironclaw's optics turned off as he searched for the relevant data. After a few nanoclicks his optics came back to life, success.

Ironclaw followed the coordinates which led him through the forest when he came to a cave. The badger stopped at the entrance and glared inside, wondering what had led him to this hollow in the side of the mountain. Was this someones home or was this some entrance to a secret lair he thought to himself. Weirdly the cave entrance didn't seem weathered by the elements and it was strange how the forest met the cliff side so suddenly. It did not seem like a natural formation. The transmetal badger turned away from the entrance, clutching part of Dirge's head in his hand. His mission was yet to be fulfilled, but he was close, he could feel it. His audio receivers perked up when he heard the indistinct sound of something large stating up. It echoed from the cave he had just found. Ironclaw's gaze was pulled to the entrance before he swiftly made his way in.

After much traversing over rock and passing through narrow entrance, Ironclaw's sensors detected a dramatic change in temperature. Maybe he was was exploring a volcano or some sort but why could he hear the sound of machinery in a place like this. He pushed speculation to one side and persisted on his journey. At the end of the tunnel he could see some light and an opening. Once he got to it he exited quietly to only be presented with a large metallic structure only a short distance in front of him. Unable to actually glean the full scale of this structure he moved around it. As he looked around he saw a warm red light radiate which led him around, he followed it until finally he reach the full breadth of the cave. It opened up into a huge open space beneath the mountain which housed this construction and also the source of the red light. Lava. Watch your step he mused as he moved to a better position. However being able to see all of this machine did not tell what it actually was. Ironclaw looked up to see a platform and someone stood upon it...

"I'm fine. Really. It is uncomfortable to have someone such as Zodiac, but Zodiac doesn't know nor was trained in this situation. The only thing he can do to me for the time being is talk to me or make threats. Or boasting his greatest victory. Which I believe is premature. I have the advantage."
Aurora took note of the slight weariness in the other female's voice and perhaps more so the fact her face took on a more serious look as she trailed off into her thoughts for a brief moment. The fuzor may be young, but she was smart enough to realize when someone was troubled by something even if they were trying to hide it. Slowly she shook her head, knowing the older female would never deliberately say something that would cause her to worry. Unfortunately Aurora already was a little worried, still, she trusted Whitegrazer and her judgement. If the other female believed she'd be able to win this mental game she was having with Zodiac right now, the fuzor had no other choice than to believe her.

"Are you able to take control of his actions in any way?," the little ermine fuzor wondered, not entirely sure what to make of any of it. The constant onslaught of after tremors after the recent earthquake weren't helping matters any, even if they were much weaker. Aurora was growing anxious that things were about to get much worse.
"Right now, he seems more focused on killing us more than anything. He just... can't let go."
Well.. that wasn't exactly reassuring news. Or news at all for that sake.

Zodiac had proved that he truly hated the Maximals and he had no regard for their lives whatsoever. Was this ever going to stop? She believed the virus she was creating would do something, but honestly she had no idea how the nanomachines would react. All she knew was that these machines functioned much like the immune system of most organic creatures in a way, only much more advance in nature and Zodiac had learned to tap into the technology to control it. Truthfully she was a little jealous, as the implications of such a technology was unprecedented. When they introduced Zodiac to this technology and his body accepted it, they essentially created something entirely new. A Cybertronian capable of healing himself on a whim and also change his shape into whatever he wanted to be, or for that sake devour any of them to fuel the process. The scientist in her marveled at what they had accomplished, yet the Maximal in her feared the consequences of such a technology in the wrong hands.

She finished the process, feeling a bit shaky as she did. But Whitegrazer was reassuring her, smiling at her while giving her praise. Aurora appreciated it albeit she was too preoccupied with making sure nothing went wrong to return the gesture right now. They only had this sample, nothing more, so another earthquake at the wrong time could potentially ruin everything.

Aurora's hands worked tirelessly as she made the final preparations, carefully drawing the concoction up into a syringe.
"We should prepare an emergency evacuation, just in case."
The fuzor had not really considered just how serious the situation could become until she heard Whitegrazer's warning. Yes, the earthquakes were cause for concern but she'd been too busy working on a way to stop the seemingly unstoppable shapeshifter to even imagine that things were likely about to get a whole lot worse. Aurora often had a one track mind when she was focusing on something, trying to perfect something while being oblivious to things that seemed less relevant at the time. Now that the virus was ready, the thought of what could be upon them crashed into her mind at full force. And it made her cringe.
"I would like to join the team. Because of my connection towards Zodiac, the link would get stronger. I might be able to distract him greater than I would if I stay here."
.. And then there was that part. What if something went wrong, what if they weren't able to inject Zodiac with the virus, what if..

No. She had to stay on track with this. But she didn't think she'd be a good choice to deliver the gift to the shapeshifter. Aurora was tiny and far from as fast or strong as most of the others. If she was to go, tempting as it was, she would be a liability.

"Just.. be careful. Please. We don't know what will happen," the fuzor urged of Whitegrazer.

She really could not stand the thought of losing someone else she cared about. It hadn't been long since she'd witnessed Whitegrazer get impaled by the same shapeshifter they were now heading out to stop.
"Excellent, Aurora!" Rhinox commended her. "Bring it here quickly."
Aurora obliged and was already hurrying over to meet up with the others on the bridge when another familiar voice chimed in, responding to her transmission. She hadn't even realized that Optimus was out of the cryo chamber much less imagined that he would respond the way he did.
"I am,"
Was that.. wise? Of course she wouldn't argue with Optimus about it. He had been through the inferno and back because of this shapeshifter, so she could certainly understand his desire to bring him down. And to protect the remaining of his Maximal crew. Oh Optimus, always looking out for the rest of them more than he did himself.. One of these days their leader would get himself into a situation he wouldn't be able to get out of. That thought made Aurora hurry a bit more and she found herself running through the hallways to the bridge with the virus safely tucked in her hand.
As she had been on her way there, Aurora had missed most of the discussion between the other Maximals. But she did arrive on the bridge in time to hear the last part of Rhinox' statement. Even though part of her had wanted to go, she was also relieved that she wouldn't get to see the events that were about to transpire. She wasn't battle ready enough for it. Yes, there were many more Maximals but the shapeshifter had proven himself capable of imitating any of them. So the task at hand was still difficult. And dangerous.

"I brought the virus," the fuzor exclaimed to make her presence known, opening her hand to show the syringe. It was true that technically her concoction was not a virus, but she hoped it would have a similar effect on the shapeshifter. Her optics darted from one to the other before finally settling on Optimus for a moment. "You're only going to get one shot at this and when it's gone I can't make any more," she then warned him. Also there was the fact that she'd not been able to test it, so hopefully Optimus would only use it as a last resort. Her hand remained open, offering the syringe to Primal.

(I guess we assumed the Pred base was further away. Hm.. earthquake on a base on a volcanic region.. that could be bad. )
Optimus Primal wrote:"I'm not going to hide any where,"

Landslide simply blinked. Well, guess that got his confidence back. he thought to himself.
Aurora wrote:"The virus is ready! Have you decided on who gets to deliver it?,"
Optimus Primal wrote:"I am."

Landslide observed the conversation quietly, then looked towards Blackarachnia as she spoke up.
Black Arachnia wrote:"Well great," "Is everyday doomsday for you all?"

Rattrap wrote:"Probably about 360 days out of an Earth's year," "Don't think you can handle it?"
Blackarachnia wrote:Also, the heat inside could melt our paint off." "I went here once before, but at the time, there was nothing of value here. I checked. Or at least, thought I did. Though, I was in a hurry. The environment in there is deadly if you spend too much time inside." "If you plan on having a team going inside, you better make your moves quick. I know the passages, so I will lead whoever you plan on sending through them."

Rhinox wrote:"If it was meant to stay hidden, then it could have easily been overlooked," "We would appreciate your intel with the navigation,"

Optimus Primal wrote:"There's still the matter of the extreme temperature, if it's still active," Optimus mentioned. "None of us are impervious to that kind of heat, except for Landslide and Ironclaw, but even they have their limitations. We could open some vents with some explosives but we'd have to be mindful of avalanches."

Rattrap wrote:"We're actually gonna let dis Predacon lead us through the tunnels? What if she knows about booby-traps and let's us take the fall for 'em?" "Not ta mention dat Tarantulas may still gain control over her."

Optimus Primal wrote:"Then you can take point with her,"
Rhinox wrote:"Rattrap is right,""However, we don't have a lot of options here. We're just going to have to rely on faith."
Rattrap wrote:"Faith? No, yeah, that's just great, Big Green. Dis is what we're reduced to. You know, I gotta feelin' dat we're all gonna die."
Blackarachnia wrote:"Well, since you guys are used to the heat, we should be fine,"

Rhinox wrote:"I'll handle the emergency evacuation.

Landslide rubbed his chin thinking as he observed them all talking. He then spoke up, while fixing the exterior lights on his horns. That sounds fine.. However, I may know some means of dealin' with this situation.. Mining holes fer vents wont be a problem. I've been sniffin' out resources, diggin' and blastin' holes before many of you were made, but that's only if we're close to the surface. if the heats as high as you say, then even vents wont cool it down without water. That doesn't mean we're hopeless though.. Grazer' here has a shotgun capable of producing ice blasts and mists, set it to a low setting and you'll be able to cool yer systems down or freeze lava to cross as platforms.

As fer the rest of us, there's two more of those pistols down in the hanger. Blackarachnia and Optimus could take one of em' with them, and it wouldn't be too hard fer Rattrap to juryrig one into my cargo box to make it act like an air conditioner fer myself an' anyone on board. It wont cool down my exterior.. but the Rheanimum in my armor has given it properties similar to Osmium.. So I should be fine unless I try eating lava er somethin'.

(Under normal circumstances, while you can't burn through Landslide with a flamethrower.. but leave him on fire long enough and his circuits will probably melt or cooling system boil over and burst. )

As Umbra made his way through the air, he soon turned off his new thrusters and started to glide down towards the ground, noticing the ground to shake with trees and rocks starting to fall over Well.. that's new. he said raising an optic ridge, raising up his legs and releasing a few short bursts of thrust to slow his descent, then landed on the ground hard supporting himself with assistance from his tentacles. He would have to get used to the amount of thrust for the landings. Umbra activated his comlink to Nemesis Lady Nemesis, I've detected seismic activity outside the Maximal base, not sure if this is natural or not considering recent events.. Proceeding with the mission. he then said, transforming to his beast mode. Umbra started to slither along to the Maximal base, his camouflage changing to match the ground, while pumping some air through his systems to cool down his engines and reduce his thermal signature. As he got closer, moving behind rocks and observing exterior camera movements and taking down timing so as to avoid being detected.

At the Predacon base, Tarantulas finished cleaning up in the medical bay, his optic band then widened as a tremor hit the Darksyde. What?! he said in surprise, moving over to a computer console, looking up the seismic activity with the sensors aboard the Darksyde.

(ooc: Aaaand.. I'm late. Again. :p Needless to say work was not fun yesterday. Also DS' remark about Waspinator's bath experience did make me giggle a bit.)
It's not a problem ma'am. Hm.. undetectable.. so you don't want him aware of it?..
Nemesis slowly shook her head. Indeed it would be preferable if Terrorsaur was not aware of the procedure. His already wounded pride would surely not be able to tolerate it and she certainly didn't need to have Terrorsaur opposing her every move out of spite. She wasn't doing it out of cruelty or hatred towards her fellow flyer, but she was taking a risk with Megatron by saving Terrorsaur's life. If he wanted to risk his life for foolish reasons, that was his decision to make, but she certainly didn't need him to drag her down with him.
I don't know about a neurotoxin.. but perhaps I can build something and slip it into him without him noticing.. A cybertronian body has many exploits that can produce those results.. I'll work on it when I get back. Tarantulas needed a little help with getting this drone over to the Axalon.. and I was looking forward to my first test flight. I'll report if I detect anything unusual.
"Very well," Nemesis responded while briefly glancing at the drone. Hopefully there was still time to figure out what was going on with the Zodiac situation. She doubted the Maximals had killed him, but part of her wanted a chance to pin the shapeshifter to the wall for what he had done and was attempting to do. As long as he remained functional, he was a potential threat to her. But she couldn't very well simply return to the Axalon for answers without having Megatron ask some rather uncomfortable questions. Or worse. Thus the best option remaining to her was to exploit the talents of her fellow Predacons.

Nemesis watched as Umbra left, waiting until he had disappeared from view. If all went well with this surveillance mission, hopefully it wouldn't be too long before they had Zodiac in their possession. So many questions that still needed answers.. And only the shapeshifter could provide them. Willingly or not. In fact Nemesis was rather looking forward to letting Tarantulas use his talents to extract the information she sought. It could be a most profitable and fun venture. Well.. for her anyway. Part of her was rather curious to find out how Zodiac's technology differed from her own since he'd been able to conquer the nanomachines and make them do his bidding. It was a power she certainly wouldn't mind claiming for herself now that she knew the experiment had ultimately been successful. If she had remained with their captors, perhaps hers would function the same way as his.

But she had refused the idea of remaining a slave, of allowing them to go through the torments that Zodiac most certainly had endured. But if she could get her hands on the shapeshifter and allow Tarantulas to fully examine him, perhaps there was a way to replicate the results on her without having to submit to the torture. Even if it proved impossible, the process would definitely be entertaining to watch. And she couldn't think of anyone more deserving than the male she once considered a close friend and ally. He would pay for his treachery, she would see to that.

Meanwhile Megatron was on his own mission to gain victory once and for all with the aid of the old Decepticons that had been left on Earth during the original mission here. Nemesis was all for saving these lost Decepicons, even if she perhaps didn't share Megatron's enthusiasm of making them into Predacons. Granted this new, smaller form had certain advantages, but Nemesis still missed her original form. There were many other places in the space after all, places that could sustain their kind. Over the centuries, many Cybertronian settlements had formed throughout the vastness of the galaxy. Some existed to this day, she was sure of it. There weren't many of her kind left, at least that she knew of, but they did exist. And it was a desire to make the Decepticons great again that motivated her. For better or worse.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sudden onset of violent shaking, the tremors from the earthquake with the epicenter right at the Axalon having traveled far enough to reach the Darksyde. Nemesis braced herself, spreading her wings to improve her leverage as the ground shook beneath her feet.

Now what?!

Zodiac, If I die, the shock of my death will carry over to you. Do you think you can handle the feeling of someone else's death? I never meant for this connection nor did you. So I will ask again. Stop what you are doing. Step back and walk away.

Whitegrazer's warning was met with another taunting laugh. It ended as abruptly as it had started, making it obvious that Zodiac was hardy amused but rather making fun of her. "Yes, and you'll be sorely missed when that happens..," he then snarled back at her, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Surely she realized he'd taken many lives by now.. And yes, he had often savored the moment of their death, dragging it out as much as he could to make the sensation last. The power and control he exerted over them at that moment, he'd grown to relish in it, as it was a welcome escape from the fact that during most of his life he had barely any control over what happened to him.

For the briefest of moments memories from those painful years flashed through his mind. Tied down in a cramped cell, the many lacerations and dents in his armor showing the rough treatment he'd received.. A gaping hole in his chest from where they drilled into him, the excruciating pain..! It had taken the scientists hundreds of attempts to fuse the nanomachines with his own circuits. A majority of the other test subjects had died during the process, his own survival and eventual success a result of a mutation in his spark that allowed him to survive the alien technology.

He remembered the first time he had used his nanomachines to devour someone, effectively cannibalizing them to fuel his own repairs. He had felt sickened by the monster he had become for several cybertronian days afterwards. It was a fellow test subject that became his first victim after he was caught while trying to escape. The shapeshifter had been ordered to kill him that way, both to punish the escapee and to test his abilities and loyalty. Albeit hesitant, the shapeshifter had obeyed. For years he obeyed. Even after he was captured by the Maximals, he obeyed his new master for a time.

Zodiac fought the memories down, wanting nothing to do with his past. Not wanting her to see. He was proud of who he was today, but not so much of how he got there. As time went on, he had been granted more freedom. He had taken advantage of it and started working towards his own agenda. Allowing himself to push the limits further and further. Until one day he was sent on a mission to capture Nexus Prime. Zodiac had defied their orders that time, taking advantage of a situation that was irresistible to him. He recruited two old friends for the occasion, Night Terror and Dirge, and ventured far beyond the parameters of the original mission. All for the sake of revenge.

The alert indicating that the intruder he had detected earlier was now inside the cave chimed through the room, further annoying the shapeshifter. How did they find him?!

His weapons moved into place, targeting the single opening to the large room he was in. Within moments he saw a familiar shape appear there, someone he had hoped would perish with the Axalon. No matter, by showing up here Ironclaw had merely sped up his departure. The shapeshifter would see to that.

"Well.. if it isn't the would-be assassin," Zodiac said with a scowl, "And foolish enough to show up all alone. What a delightful surprise.." He didn't bother asking how the transmetal badger had found him.

As Nemesis had surmised, Deathroll was a quick study, so with the Predacon Computer's help he soon had a grasp of how the surveillance equipment of the Predacon base actually worked, and he had to admit that despite the Darksyde itself being a wreck, its technology was fairly impressive.

"She's no Nemesis, but this Darksyde must have been quite the warship back when she was still space-worthy" Deathroll admitted as he observed the ship's security camera feed, seeing nothing but lava fields outside the base and detecting no signs of maximal energy signatures either, meaning all was well for now...Pity, he was curious to see what the descendants of the Autobots were like, hopefully they'd prove more of a challenge than Terrorsaur.

It was then that he detected the tremors, both on the ship's scanners, which came alive with seismic activity alerts, and in person as he braced himself against the computer to maintain his balance as the ground beneath the ship itself began to shake, the lava below creating ripples and waves.

"Slag, first day on the job and already a crisis on my watch, perfect" Deathroll growled to himself as he opened communications to the base at large, though it took him two tries since initially all he did was make Waspinator's CR Tank spew forth its contents like a waterspout, including Waspinator, before splashing back down into place again.

"Attention all personnel, this is Commander Deathroll, and as you can obviously tell there is a major seismic disturbance affecting our base at the moment, everyone report to their stations immediately! Deathroll out" the transmetal alligator commanded, hoping he wasn't overstepping his boundaries as Subcommander, but trusted his superior officers, Megatron and Nemesis, would have given similar orders in his stead.

"Scrud! What the slag is going on?!" Terrorsaur demanded as he emerged from his CR Tank, his injuries from earlier healed, but his face and expression looking more than a little ragged, like someone who hadn't had their morning cup of energon after only a few megacycles of sleep.

"The Colony is shaking!" Inferno gasped in abject horror at this development, as Terrorsaur retorted "Well OBVIOUSLY Subcommand....Oh, my bad, CAPTAIN Obvious!"

"ENOUGH both of you! Man your posts and help me narrow down the quakes point of origin!" Deathroll ordered with a snarl and a stomp of his tail, Inferno, ever the dutiful soldier, doing as he was told, and Terrorsaur, memories of the royal beatdown he had received still fresh in his mind, following suit.

"YOU TOO BUG!" Deathroll bellowed at Waspinator, still more than a little dazed after the wild ride he'd had inside the CR Tanks.

Elsewhere, Megatron's studies were interrupted by the tremors as well, the tyrant listening intently to Deathroll's announcement over the comms as the tremors shook the walls and floors of the Darksyde.

"Never a dull moment on this rock, nnnnoooo" Megatron said to himself as he put away his decepticon crew manifest and his favorite bath toy and climbed out of his CR Tank, ready to face this latest threat to his plans and take charge once more.

Whoever or whatever was behind all this, they had better watch out, Megatron was on the prowl!

((OOC: I will post for Blackarachnia for now. Post for Whitegrazer later if I can. If not, tomorrow then. ))
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:Probably about 360 days out of an Earth's year," Rattrap answered the she-spider. "Don't think you can handle it?"
"Handle it better than you," Blackarachnia smirked at the rat.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"Megatron already knew about this location?!" Always one step behind, Primal! Probably ten steps behind by now. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! a voice laughed inside. Optimus tried ignoring it. "What could possibly take precedence over a discovery like this that he wouldn't hesitate to get his hands on and exterminate us?"
She looked at Optimus' exaggerrated reaction. She shrugged, "Megatron didn't tell anyone about it. Didn't even put it in his private logs or anything. Whatever he was doing or saw that was ten times better than this, it is anyone's guess now." Though, she seemed nonchalent about it, she actually was very angry about. Megatron totally ignored the idea of this device, or was she wrong. He didn't know. But that would be the first. Megatron always knew, and if anyone said he didn't was a lair or stupid.

Then a thought occurred her. She remembered the now destroyed underground vein of energon beneath both bases. Were the Predacons feeling these earthquakes too? "Hey, are these earthquakes being felt by my former Predacon pals?"
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"If it was meant to stay hidden, then it could have easily been overlooked," the engineer assured Blackarachnia. "We would appreciate your intel with the navigation,"
"Yeah, though, I don't easily overlook things," she stared at the dormant mountain's image before she shook her head. "Treacherous, but doable. Once we reach the mountain, there is a wide opening. Lots of alien symbols, but most of them are scratched and hard to read, and lots of space where I will be need to crawl through and open some doors. Then the trickier part would be crossing through some narrow walkways over pools of lava. Fun." Maybe that was her mistake last time. The heat was a bit much. She tried the other ways, but they led to dead ends.

If she hadn't given up so easily, she might had have a good weapon to use against anyone who stood in her way.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"There's still the matter of the extreme temperature, if it's still active," Optimus mentioned. "None of us are impervious to that kind of heat, except for Landslide and Ironclaw, but even they have their limitations. We could open some vents with some explosives but we'd have to be mindful of avalanches."
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"We're actually gonna let dis Predacon lead us through the tunnels? What if she knows about booby-traps and let's us take the fall for 'em?" Rattrap, ever the skeptic, pointed out, staring at Blackarachnia in his usual suspicious nature. "Not ta mention dat Tarantulas may still gain control over her."
Blackarachnia let out a short laugh, "If you want to lead the team, be my guest. I love to see you try. I always wondered what burnt rat smells like."
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"Then you can take point with her,"
She crossed her arms. She didn't really want to have the rat behind her. He thinks she would shoot him in the back, but she didn't trust that rat to not push into a pool of lava just to get rid of her.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"I'll handle the emergency evacuation.
Well, good, or at least, Optimus wouldn't push her in lava, but she would keep her distance just in case. Maybe she could still have a chance to get this device for herself.

"Too bad you can't share some of that Rheanimum." She put her pinchers to her hips and swayed them as she walked to the hangar to get one of those pistols Landslide was talking about.

Phoenix wrote:"Are you able to take control of his actions in any way?,"
"I could. But I don't really want to," Whitegrazer looked at the little one sadly, "It wouldn't be right of me to take control of his own body. Forcing him to do something against his will. It might awaken certain emotions within him that might... be traumatic. Zodiac may be our enemy, but he is also a victim. Even if his actions here are inexcusable."

Also, she made a promise she wouldn't do such things ever again. She broke many promises. She didn't want to break this one.... if what she planned to do worked. But would that be even worse for Zodiac?

"Besides, Aurora, I got a plan. I just hope it works. Though, it's not going to be pretty." Whitegrazer kept herself calm, but part of her was dreading what she had to do. This was just going to be just as tramautic... if she didn't be careful. If she didn't a different way. This could go very right or very, very wrong. TyCross kept staring at her from the link, pushing her forward, pressuring her to do this.

She didn't like him doing this to her.
Phoenix wrote:"Just.. be careful. Please. We don't know what will happen,"
She smiled warmly at Aurora, getting down to eye level with Aurora. She stared at Aurora straight in her optics, "I will. I promise. And you and Rhinox take care of each other as well. You hear?"
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"I am,"
Whitegrazer looked at the com, hearing that voice made her stand up fast, "Optimus?"

He was supposed to be resting. He shouldn't even be going on to face Zodiac. Not in his condition.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"By taking her life. I can't allow anyone else to take this risk, Rhinox."
She listened to the back and forward from Rhinox and Optimus. Optimus not wanting her to face Zodiac while Rhinox saying she was just a target as Optimus was. Which was a good point. Zodiac really didn't like her, especially since she kept interfering in his plans. And still was. She could feel his desire to end her life as he desired to make Optimus suffer.

Whitegrazer sat on the bed, sighing. Optimus really seemed adamant on going. She knew he would be the fastest flier to get there.

"Optimus, are you sure? Are you sure you are ready to face Zodiac again?" She asked him, but she knew the answer to that.
Optimal Optimus Primal wrote:"I'll handle the emergency evacuation.
'

Whitegrazer got off the bed and followed Aurora back to the bridge.
Phoenix wrote:"Yes, and you'll be sorely missed when that happens..,"
Whitegrazer clenched her fists. Zodiac's arrogance. She kept silent. Knowing Zodiac was just going to relishing anything else she said or mocked what ever type of reasoning she used. Zodiac wasn't going to hear it. And Whitegrazer realized that she tried. Tried to get him to see reason. She wanted to spare him what she planned on doing. But she should had known better. He needed to be taught the hard way. He needed to remember. He needed to understand. She needed to stop treating him like Nemesis. She reminded herself. He wasn't Nemesis. He stayed. She didn't. Nemesis didn't have a false grandiose look about herself. Zodiac did. She need to break that false self-image. It was the only way.

There was a flash of a cramped cell. Her hands gasped the walls. No, not her hands. Zodiac's. Another one of his memories. Pushed and shoved into the walls. Hallways. Swords and bare hands cutting through her- no , his back and the rest of his form. Punches and kicks making dents, forever marking their brutality. Their cruelty. Scientists. Drill above coming down and drilling a hole in her-his chest. Tearing, twisting through the chest plate. Hot, burning sensation. Little bugs melting into circuits. Crawling.

Then she remembered Zodiac's grip on her throat, trying to devour her using his own nanomachines. Contrasted with another memory of Zodiac's which was only brief. Zodiac was blocking that memory from her, but she saw the difference. While Zodiac seemed glee and vindicated while he tried to devour her, that other memory... Zodiac's expression was different. Not gleeful. Not vindicated.

Disgust.

People tell soldiers that when they kill for the first time, the second time gets easier. But that's not true, is it? It's an excuse. To try and desensitize them, so they can keep killing for them. And that person... believes it. Finds a way to cope. You find a way to cope, didn't you, Zodiac? It was the only way. The only way to keep you from feeling... guilty. Remorse. Sympathy. Or... worse..., Whitegrazer closed her optics and rested her hands, Empathy.
Phoenix wrote:"I brought the virus," the fuzor exclaimed to make her presence known, opening her hand to show the syringe. It was true that technically her concoction was not a virus, but she hoped it would have a similar effect on the shapeshifter. Her optics darted from one to the other before finally settling on Optimus for a moment. "You're only going to get one shot at this and when it's gone I can't make any more,"
As she reached the bridge, she opened her optics, watched as Aurora gave Optimus her viruse. Looked at Optimus' direction. Her eyes still asking him, searching for a way to keep him here. She didn't want him to face Zodiac. He should be resting. Their connection may be blocked, but she could see the intensity in his muscles and the way he stood. It was subtle, but it was an instinct of hers. She knew he still needed more time.

Her optics turned to the mountain's image. She felt something through Zodiac. Something familar.

Her optics widened.

"Ironclaw is there."

(( OOC: No worries, DarkSpark. I just thought it would be easier for the Preds to notice something going on instead of infiltrating the Axalon because, to be honest, that's getting kind of old. Besides, Sentinel has been upgraded so many times now, especially after Zodiac manipulating it and taking control, that it would be near impossible for anyone to get past its defenses, scanners and walls and go undetected with any air movement, motion, and temperature differences. Time for the Preds to get a little more creative. As for the tremors, why not have the Preds face the same problem with their base as the Maximals are? They didn't appear to be that far away from each other in the show when they crashed; at least I wouldn't think even near a thousand miles apart. :P So the Preds and Maximals could have a common goal on stopping Zodiac, and then Megatron, of course, might try to confiscate the alien weapon from his control. Who knows! ))
"I brought the virus,"
Optimus, briefly smiling at the young Fuzor as she stepped into the bridge so confidently, looked down at the syringe as it laid in her small, open hand. He hesitated to take it while his orange optics lingered thoughtfully, pondering about his own nano gel that Aurora had used on him and had helped but he doubted it worked anymore. Still, it had been a great idea that she had developed with minimal side effects, and perhaps with more tests and if more of nanobot technology ever became available to them, it could be a successfully mobile way to heal their injuries during battle. In any case, Primal's mind started to grow a little more sinister the longer he stared at the vile. He slowly took it from Aurora's palm and held it closer to his optics, turning it slightly.

If it works, it could stop him. It could take him down. You have the power in your hands, Primal. The power to defeat him once and for all; unlike your chances with Megatron. For the threats and attempts on your life and your Maximals' lives. He almost made YOU kill all of them! And then he would have killed you! the voice exclaimed. Are you going to let him get away with that?

Because of what Nexus and I did to him. Who can blame him?

Don't try to justify his actions, you fool! You're going soft again. You're forgetting how dangerous he is if you let him live. You must stop him. You must take his life.

No! I won't! I can't.

You CAN. What else are you going to do?! Let him live and hold him prisoner so he'll always be around, always be another worry on your heavily weighted shoulders?! We both know how well that worked out last time... Hence the predicament you're in now, on the verge of losing your ship if these quakes continue. No ship equals no protection and Megatron wins. How much more are you willing to risk?

I'll figure out a way, Optimus tried convincing himself. I just have to see how he reacts to this.

This is why you never get ahead in this war. You're no Captain, you're not even a leader. You're an insignificant Maximal that Cybertron has long since forgotten now. They're not going to waste their resources on you! You're never going home! You're either going to expire on this planet by the hands of Megatron or the Vok will annihilate all of you.

You're wrong. There is always a way, the ape denied. And just before he was about to shout out loud, telling the voice to shut up, he was stopped by Aurora speaking.
"You're only going to get one shot at this and when it's gone I can't make any more,"
"I'll make it count," Optimus said, a bit colder and angrier than he had intended. Then, after staring at it longer than he should have, he finally stored it away in his subspace where it was safe and sound. "Thank you, Aurora. This could be the turning point," he added, much softer this time with gratitude in his optics, acknowledging her involvement and giving her recognition. He almost leaned down to offer her a hug but stopped himself and seemed to look away from her in self-disappointment, perhaps because of him neglecting his own health which indirectly effected the rest of his crew, or being responsible for the mess they were all in and all of their lives that were in real danger. Aurora was far more innocent than he could ever be for the things he had done in his past so he was determined to keep her on the right path. However, keeping her at a distance probably wasn't going to help, but he nearly thought interacting with her in his current compromised state would be confusing and do more harm than good. He was too irritable and unpredictable, not to his crew, but to himself because of the whispers and the anger they caused within him.

"I agree," Rhinox said to Landslide. "I'm sure Rattrap can get to work on that during the flight there."
"Handle it better than you,"
"Are ya sure? 'Cause you sounded a bit worried about it a second ago," Rattrap pointed out.
"Megatron didn't tell anyone about it. Didn't even put it in his private logs or anything. Whatever he was doing or saw that was ten times better than this, it is anyone's guess now."
Primal's expression morphed into a puzzled one, at a complete loss as to what would have stolen Megatron's attention from an alien weapon that he could have easily acquired without the Maximals even knowing that it existed. He must have learned about it with the alien disk but what else did he know?
"Hey, are these earthquakes being felt by my former Predacon pals?"
"Pfff. Former? Yeah right," Rattrap objected her poor choice of words that sounded just as deceptive as she looked.

"Very likely." Rhinox considered the black widow's question and updated the rotating 3-D map of the mountain to expand its view showing both of the bases that the tremors were effecting.

"Great, now we gotta deal with them, too?" the rodent sighed.
"Yeah, though, I don't easily overlook things," "Treacherous, but doable. Once we reach the mountain, there is a wide opening. Lots of alien symbols, but most of them are scratched and hard to read, and lots of space where I will be need to crawl through and open some doors. Then the trickier part would be crossing through some narrow walkways over pools of lava. Fun."
Well, depending on how much room they'd have in the tunnels, maybe Optimus could just fly them across the lava. Unlike Rattrap and Blackarachnia, he wasn't as nimble as them in tight places. He had a broader body and wasn't as flexible which hampered his balance, especially on his knuckles in beast mode. He guessed they'd have to wait to see what things looked like once they got there. A lot of the tunnels could easily be caved in by now thanks to the earthquakes Zodiac was probably really enjoying creating. And if the Predacons were going to investigate the activity as well... It was just something he didn't want to deal with. He especially didn't want Megatron to witness his mental instability and take advantage of it. He'd just have to fight it or hide it as best as he could.
"If you want to lead the team, be my guest. I love to see you try. I always wondered what burnt rat smells like."
Rattrap made a face at her, but before he could get in any insults, Rhinox said, "Rattrap will be leading this mission, so everyone follows his orders."

"Me? Why not Optimus?" he argued, hating to play the leader again.

"Because Optimus isn't fit to command right now, remember? But he can still offer fire power and flight capabilities. Not to mention he'll be able to get closer to Zodiac than any of us, with Whitegrazer as the only other exception."

Rattrap reluctantly nodded with understanding.
"Too bad you can't share some of that Rheanimum."
The Spy looked at her suspiciously as the widow left the bridge. "Spiders are always scheming," he said. "You better be careful with her as yer passenger, Optimus. She could just as easily pull out 'er weapon an' shoot you, paralyzin' you."

"I'll be fine," he assured him. "I'm sure she won't want to fall out of the sky at 10,000 feet."
"Optimus, are you sure? Are you sure you are ready to face Zodiac again?"
"Are you?" he asked Whitegrazer. "The way I see it, we're both compromised and we have no other choice. I can do this," he tried convincing her and as well as himself when she showed up on the bridge and their optics locked on to each other. Although, it would be easier with her guidance to help keep him focused and calm. Unfortunately, he wasn't going to have it, not while Zodiac invaded her mind. So he would have make do on his own. He would just have to recall some of her meditations as long as he had the time to collect his thoughts. "My healing can begin later... with your help." What he was going through was not uncommon, like post traumatic stress. What she was going through... He didn't even know anyone who could help her. Was she to deal with her Empath abilities all by herself? How could they sever this tie she now had with Zodiac? He didn't want her to feel alone with her ordeal. He was there for her just as much as she was for him. A part of him wanted to embrace her while he saw her standing there, and hold her tightly in his arms for a long time, but he reluctantly pushed the feeling away. Then he noticed her facial expression change drastically as she stared at the holographic map. He was about to ask her what was wrong, thinking it was something to do with Zodiac, but it was something, or rather someone, else.
"Ironclaw is there."
Primus. Why did he have to go there? And alone! Optimus looked at Rhinox for his permission.

"Go. He'll need help. And we need these earthquakes to stop as soon as possible."

Primal nodded and went to follow Blackarachnia to the hangar when he stopped at the mare and looked into her optics. His own were full of confusing emotions of uncertainty, anger, and pain but also hope, optimism and determination. "I'll see you there, Whitegrazer," he said quietly. He took one of her hands in his for only a moment to physically feel her being and her life source, searching for strength and love before moving on and limping down the corridor toward the stern of the vessel.

Catching up with Blackarachnia in the hangar who was grabbing one of the pistols, he opened the large door that led to the outdoors and stepped outside, converting to his vehicle mode and hovering a few feet off of the ground as he waited for the spider. When she was ready, he politely offered her his hand to help her climb up onto his hoverboard before blasting off, the door closing behind them. She probably still thought ill of him for him shooting at her earlier, but he hadn't been himself ever since his unsatisfactory stay at the Darksyde. As much as he'd hate to admit it, the Predacons had successfully damaged his mind that day, but there were certain qualities he tried to hold on to so that he could show her who he really was. And if the Predacons were going to show up, he knew exactly what that would mean for the black widow, and he would fight to defend her. It was no different than when Dinobot and Frilla had joined them. If she was going to stay with the Maximals, then someone was going to have to show her respect and trust and try to earn her's.

"The rest of you, get your things together and head out. Don't linger too far behind them, and be prepared for Predacon ambushes," Rhinox told Whitegrazer, Landslide and Rattrap.
"Well, that's just prime!"

Ironclaw came to a gradual stop when he saw Zodiac's weapons pointing in his general direction. The transmetal badger was not interested in talking, not in the exchange of banter or even the theatrics that comforted a lot of who he hunted. He was honoured to have been chosen to rid the galaxy of the most vile who hid within its corners. These were no common criminals, they were weapons. Zodiac being one of the illusive one's. He'd been tracking him for a long time and it had finally come to this. Without even looking at it he threw Dirge's lifeless head towards Zodiac, landing perfectly in front of him. Whether that would stir something in this fiendish bring was yet to be revealed.

"Its over Zodiac" Ironclaw announced as he gingerly stepped towards his target. His chest broad, arms by his side, the body trained for this very thing. A small static charge went off in one of his clawed hands, the weapon that would seal Zodiac's fate.

"Show me what passes for fury among your misbegotten kind" were his last words, readying to charge.

RPG Characters: Nemesis,Aurora,Zodiac

Lady Nemesis, I've detected seismic activity outside the Maximal base, not sure if this is natural or not considering recent events.. Proceeding with the mission.
Nemesis had barely gotten to regain her balance before Umbra's brief update chimed through.

Seismic activity.. at the Maximal base? How peculiar. The Axalon was located on a rocky ledge in a fairly stable region compared to that of the Darksyde, yet it appeared that they had been struck by a random earthquake. Probably the same one the Predacons had just felt the aftereffects of.

"Delay your approach," Nemesis responded, "Survey the area first. I'd like to know what the Maximals are doing." If this had been a force of nature, chances were the Maximals would stay where they were. Or perhaps they would remain close to their base. If, however, they decided to send out a team to investigate then chances were they suspected foul play. With Zodiac on the loose provided Dirge's escape attempt had been successful, anything was possible.
"Attention all personnel, this is Commander Deathroll, and as you can obviously tell there is a major seismic disturbance affecting our base at the moment, everyone report to their stations immediately! Deathroll out"
Commander Deahtroll? Well. She supposed she could let his little slip of the tongue go.. for now. Meanwhile it seemed that the quake had caused everyone in the base to be on high alert. Just as well, perhaps, as she was getting rather bored with having to remain here. She was a creature of the sky, after all, not meant to linger. She'd done enough of that during her youth when she had no choice but to stay put. Now she was quite satisfied with being able to go wherever she wanted to.

Nemesis then joined the others. Surely the sudden earthquake had gotten Megatron's attention as well.
Whitegrazer's words echoed within the smaller fuzor. She didn't quite understand her reasoning on this matter. Zodiac was clearly a threat and had made it obvious that he would stop at nothing to see them all perish in the most painful and brutal manner imaginable. Almost worse yet, he had attempted to get Optimus to pull the trigger thus placing the responsibility on their leader. What he planned next was anyone's guess, but Aurora was certain Optimus would have met his end while devastatingly grieving the loss of his companions. So if Whitegrazer had the power to stop Zodiac in his tracks and bring him to his knees without any further bloodshed, why not do so? It was obvious that they wouldn't be able to talk the shapeshifter out of this and honestly she wasn't sure how her concoction would work out. There wasn't enough time to test it even. And they were taking a huge risk by having to get so close to the shapeshifter to inject the substance into him. Rendering him helpless at a distance seemed a more logical choice to her.

Still she decided not to pursue the matter. It was futile to try to argue with Whitegrazer, she'd learned that long ago.
"Besides, Aurora, I got a plan. I just hope it works. Though, it's not going to be pretty."
Her curiosity once again peeked, Aurora's green optics settled on Whitegrazer. "What is this plan?," she wanted to know, not liking it when she was left in the dark.
"I'll make it count," Optimus said, a bit colder and angrier than he had intended. Then, after staring at it longer than he should have, he finally stored it away in his subspace where it was safe and sound. "Thank you, Aurora. This could be the turning point,"
After Optimus spoke up after a lengthy pause where he seemed to just be lost in his own thoughts, Aurora's lips curled into a smile. Seeing all the Maximals mobilize, she was starting to let herself believe they might actually win this thing. Even with an alien machine at his disposal, the little fuzor didn't think the shapeshifter would be able to withstand an assault from all of them. Surely he'd realize it too, perhaps even do the sensible thing and simply surrender.

But even if he did, she wasn't sure what they would do with him. He'd already proved that he was capable of breaking out of their cells, at least as long as his nanomachines remained functional. Perhaps after Optimus had injected him with the virus, that would change. She hoped.. maybe.

"I know you will,"
Aurora responded, the smile still brightening up her face. She had faith in Optimus. Even now, after he'd shown certain signs of mental deterioration, she still believed in him. Regardless of the fact that he wasn't really the one leading this operation due to the same psychological issues he had been struggling with ever since he was held captive by Megatron. Optimus still hadn't talked to them about what happened to him there, but whatever it was it clearly had left some lasting effects.

Poor Optimus.. Hopefully when this was over, he could take a nice long break and fully recover.

She had followed them as they split into teams, even though she knew she wasn't going. She just wanted to see them off and wish them good luck. Albeit seeing the female spider prepare to ride to their location with Optimus, left the fuzor feeling a little uneasy. It hadn't been long since the she-spider had infiltrated their base.. or worse yet.. battled against them on Megatron's side. Yes, her motives seemed to be clear enough right now, but Aurora couldn't bring herself to trust the female spider wholeheartedly just yet. She'd need time to let all this sink in first.

Meanwhile the alien machine had entered the final stage of the process. At last it was tapping into the full power of the Earth, energy building up in the machine at an alarming rate. The shapeshifter tried to keep his focus as the remaining machines powered on. It was almost rather mesmerizing to watch, to have that kind of power at his fingertips. Had it not been for the fact that the machine required his full attention and that his nanomachines had to keep the process steady in the absence of a key, Zodiac would have raised his arms in the air in celebration. Go figures the aliens would have taken such a basic part of the machine with them when they departed this world, but Zodiac could only assume it had been a deliberate choice to avoid other creatures gaining control over the machine. Of course they had not counted on this creature being someone capable of changing his form to anything he desired, so it really wasn't a big problem for the shapeshifter to use his abilities to mimic the movements of the missing key.

Granted the process would be simpler without the constant interruptions from within his own head.. That Maximal female was way too talkative, constantly trying to persuade him to surrender himself, using the only weapon she had available to her. Her thoughts. Her thoughts transmitted to him via their shared link. On occasion he could sense a trace of an emotion as well. They seemed to be changing quite frequently, ranging from frustration to hope to concern. The shapeshifter just wanted it to stop. Without the female's training, he had a hard time coping with it. His own powers, granted to him by the nanomachines, were very much physical in nature whereas hers seemed foreign to him. Well.. it wouldn't be much longer now. And when the Maximals were gone, perhaps he should turn the weapon on his old Predacon friends. They had attacked him during his escape, after all, as well as killed one of his crew mates. Zodiac was not about to forgive them for that.
The only way to keep you from feeling... guilty. Remorse. Sympathy. Or... worse... Empathy.
Zodiac merely shook his head slowly, realizing the female had picked up on his innermost thoughts and long suppressed memories. It was something he really didn't want her to know. A part of his past that stood in great contrast to how he attempted to portray himself now. A remnant of a time he tried so hard to forget. If at all possible, her latest observation made her an even greater threat than before.

Are you referring to me.. or to yourself?, the shapeshifter pondered, remembering bits and pieces of the white mare's earlier memory that had depicted her in a much less favorable light. They may have turned out very differently, but something told him that Whitegrazer had experienced a similar ordeal in her past. The details were still more than a little shaded to him, but those fragments of distant memories that he had glimpsed told him that the female Maximal had much to make amends for.

Why she bothered, he wasn't quite sure. He attempted not to dwell on the past or the crimes he had committed. Yes, those memories haunted him from time to time, but he had no desire to let them do anything other than fuel his rage and his desire to get revenge.

A perfect soldier required years of training and refinement to become one. The same could be said of him. Designed to be the perfect weapon, the perfect spy, the perfect specimen of the Cybertronian breed. Yet it had been a long trip to get there, one that had certainly not been completed without making sacrifices. Only the strongest of them got there, only the best survived. And even though his path had been littered with pain, drastic physical and emotional challenges and changes, he had eventually made it. The first of a new breed, the scientists had called him. But they weren't able to replicate the process, not completely anyway. The project had been abandoned with only a single true success to show for it. He was one of a kind instead of one of many. A single specialist where there should have been an army.

An army upon yourself?

Megatron's words echoed briefly in his mind.

Yes. Yes, he was. Despite the fact he was being hunted and the unfortunate reality that he had the female Maximal's voice stuck in his head, he would beat them all.

His conviction became even more set in stone when Ironclaw arrived, his optics immediately drawn to the object the transmetal badger proceeded to throw at him. It landed a mere few feet in front of him, swaying from side to side a few times before settling down. Zodiac'd optics narrowed in disdain as he immediately recognized the object as being Dirge's head. Dirge had been another experiment where they attempted to create another perfect soldier like himself. It hadn't been as successful, of course, but they had accomplished some minor achievements with him. He was already aware that Dirge was dead, having seen it happen through the scope of a sniper rifle, so if it was a shock factor Ironclaw was after it didn't work as well as it might have if Zodiac had not been aware.

Zodiac stared at the lifeless head, a sneer forming on his face as his anger continued rising within him. When he started feeling sickened by the sight of the damaged amputated head, the shapeshifter merely kicked the head back at Ironclaw in a fit of rage.
"Its over Zodiac"
"Do you honestly think I will be as easily taken down?," he hissed back at the other transmetal. His weapons had powered up, the cannons automatically targeting the intruder, following his every move.
"Show me what passes for fury among your misbegotten kind"
Zodiac didn't respond. Instead he let out a feral roar and fired his dual cannons multiple times at Ironclaw's frame. He kept firing as he moved surprisingly swiftly across the room, closing the gap between them until he was close enough to lunge himself at the other transmetal. Sharp claws had started extending from his knuckles as he soared through the air, the edges sharp enough to shred cybertronian steel when he brought them down upon Ironclaw's form.

Blackarachnia wrote:"Too bad you can't share some of that Rheanimum."

Landslide observed as they spoke, then turned his head watching Blackarachnia walk away with her usual hip sway, wondering if it was intentionally exaggerated or a faulty bearing in her hip.
Rattrap wrote:"Spiders are always scheming," "You better be careful with her as yer passenger, Optimus. She could just as easily pull out 'er weapon an' shoot you, paralyzin' you."

Landslide looked towards Rattrap with a slight smirk Well, that's one scheme she wouldn't want to get er' hands on lad.. Rheanium gas increases the yer density to a ridiculous amount. They stopped usin' it fer armor because it made some Maximals so heavy they couldn't move.. With the swarm gone, most wouldn't use it fer anything other then ballast or bullets.
Optimus Primal wrote:"I'll be fine," "I'm sure she won't want to fall out of the sky at 10,000 feet."

Aye, she doesn't seem suicidal unless the other arachnid is in er' head.

Landslide gave a nod to Rhinox, then made his way down to the hanger, walking over and picking up one of the frost shot pistols and handed it to Rattrap, Landslide then opened the hanger door. Landslide, vehicle mode!

The heavy beetle transformed into his vehicle mode, the wing shell shifting open with panels retracting adding more headroom in his cargo bay. Alright, get on! Landslide then said to the others.

Umbra shifted his position behind the rock he was hiding behind, flat against the rock and ground matching the color, texture, and shadows on the rock and ground. He quietly observed the Maximal base, noticing Optimus suddenly fly out of the back of the ship, his internal software zooming in as he noticed Blackarachnia riding on the ape's hoverboard.

Umbra then responded back to Nemesis Optimus and Blackarachnia just bee lined out of the Maximal base.

Waspinator got out of his CR tank, annoyed at Deathroll by now. Waspinator then looked around noticing the base shaking. What the?

Meanwhile, Tarantulas continued on at the computer in the medical bay, leaning slightly out of the way as some things fell off a shelf. A visual display of the seismic activity over layed onto a map generated of the planet, as well as an abnormally high energy signature detected gathering in the distance away. Well well well.. Either the Maximals screwed up in a bad way, or they're back again.. Of all the times..

Tarantulas then exited the medical bay, heading to the bridge. He looked over at Nemesis I believe you were in-charge bird, so I imagine you might like to know this.. It would seem one of the Alien relics has come online. Tarantulas then stated, giving an emphasis on in charge, as he didn't care for these silly ranks Megatron gave his merry band of morons. Tarantulas then walked over to the bridge console, bringing up the visuals he found on the medical computer earlier for Nemesis to see. To paraphrase the Rat, we're all going to die.

Ironclaw was prepared for Zodiac despite his rhetorical question. The badger instantly leaned to the side to evade one of the blasts, then he went down on all four's to dodge two more. He barely noticed that his target was moving dangerously fast and right for him. Pushing himself back up only resulted in him being hit by of the blasts from Zodiac. It struck him on his thick shoulder armour and burned for a couple of seconds. The academy had made him very aware o the types of weapons that would be used against him and had pushed the badger's pain threshold to a staggering extent. This fiend's weapons were potent but nothing he he had not been trained for.

Ironclaw didn't even take a second to look at his shoulder, instead he focussed on his opponent which was dancing back forth but soon he centred and came right at him, claws drawn. Reaching out he caught Zodiac's forearm coming from above and the other a second after. He felt a sharp pain as their optics met. Flicking his gaze down quickly he saw that he wasn't quick enough. The claws had penetrated his armour. It looked deep at first. The transmetal gripped hard, painfully hard, clawed finger tips digging as he pushed Zodiac away. He summoned his strength and was managing to push his attacker away. Before he was unable to discern who possessed greater strength but right now it seemed like he did. Slowly the claws edged out of him, taking nothing but but metal with them. Once far enough away he lurched forwards and head butt Zodiac, followed upbeat roar and upper cut to the chin.

You can do better demon
