That always intrigued me about Megatron. As far as I know, he calls every other Maximal by their name at least. Except Cheetor. He always calls him pussycat or feline. Never Cheetor.
Why?
Then it hit me. Maybe he doesn't see Cheetor like the others? He sees him as Optimus' pet. It makes sense. Megatron won't call someone by their name without a reason. Megatron always has a purpose and reason for everything he says and does. And I have no doubt he knows Optimus and Cheetor have a father and son relationship going on. Megatron sees such relationships as something he can exploit and views them with disgust like how he views Blackarachnia's love for Silverbolt. Interesting how Megatron's views on Blackarachnia changed when he saw that. He seems to hold her in some respect until he saw her greatest weakness was her love for a Maximal. Yuck. XDDDDDDDD
Anyway, back to Cheetor, Megatron seems to hold some grudging respect for Cheetor's underhanded sneak attack in the first episode. When he talks to Cheetor, there is a grudging respect for such move, but he seems angry at such a thing, especially from a Maximal. He can't respect a Maximal. He hates them, so instead of acknowledging such a respect, he does the next best thing! Degrade him! Insult him! And what better way than to see him as a pet that Optimus needs to put a leash on.

I'm actually amazed that someone noticed something like this.. because I sure didn't! Granted the BW show isn't something I watch very often, maybe an episode per year if I need to remember something, so it's been a long time since I saw most of it.

Good perception of it. I never really saw it that way, but it definitely makes sense now that I think about it. Since it's been a while since I've seen it, but does anyone know if Megatron continues to refrain from addressing Cheetor by name in Beast Machines?

Actually it was because in the beginning David Kaye was having that hard time pronouncing Cheetor (kinda like Ian Corlett) But yeah I can see your theory too.
