That does look good! I was a HUGE fan of The Hobbit. I was wondering if they'd do a Hobbit movie.

I never read The Lord of the Rings series....actually, I should say, I never FINISHED The Lord of the Rings series. :-P But I did enjoy the movies! I mean, I'm not one of those "OMG OMG OMG! I HAVE TO WATCH LOTR!!! OMG!!" kind of people who watches the movies over and over and over again. I sat through them all once. They were very good. It's not that I wouldn't watch them again.....they were just so long. 1 1/2 hours is a good length of a movie for me.....when it gets longer than 2 1/2 hours, I lose interest. I imagine The Hobbit will be LOTR length....

Eeehh! So excited! Thank you for posting this. I had no idea the trailer was out!

I remember watching that old Hobbit animated film as a kid. It was always one of my favorite stories. And when the LOTR movies came out, I was hooked. I can say I am "that person" and I have read the LOTR trilogy, along with many of Tolkein's other work (I really like the pre-LOTR stuff, like the Silmarillion.*squee*). I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE.

I actually think the length of the Lord of the Rings movies is a part of what of what makes them great. The story is well-told, and the set locations are incredible, and Howard Shore's music is so good, and the list goes on, so I want as much of the movie as I can get. If it's been two and a half hours and the Return of the King wants to go for another hour... awesome.

And I used to (occasionally still do) watch the animated version of The Hobbit, too. It would be a creepy movie, I think, if I hadn't grown up with it. But it's still really interesting.
