BotCon Rhinox revealed!

Unread post by Outtsyder »

And dare I say, I knew it. The Rhinox in the BotCon box set will be a repaint of Landmine from the Cybertron toyline, who transforms into a bulldozer. BotCon Rhinox still carries over the Autobot symbol molded in the toy mold's chest, but the organizers came up with a story to explain it, saying his knowledge of the Maximals' ancestors led him to honor them by wearing their sigil as well as his "native" Maximal ones.

Outtsyder, now if only my other predictions in the real world would come true more often....

Rattrap's already been unofficially revealed, check out one of the older threads.

Also unofficially revealed is Botcon Waspinator, who either going to be a Primus package attendee freebie or an attendee-only exclusive you can purchase at the convention:

I have to say, Waspinator is an INGENIOUS use for that mold. I never thought the mold looked like Waspy until it was put into those colors with those paint apps.

Believe it or not, the head ISN'T new on Waspinator-- that's a straight repaint. It's amazing how much some TF heads fit other characters when you give them the right paint apps...

Well... at least someone compared Rhinox of Cybertron's Landmine. I'm content now.

As for Waspinator... well it could've been done better. I thought they'd all be remakes of Transformers Cybertron characters.

Nope, that's only for the BotCon box set (Primal, Cheetor, Rhinox, Rattrap and Dinobot). Like last year, they'll be offering additional toys (not part of the set) to be sold at the convention itself, as well as a free toy to everyone who pre-registered. For those other ones, nothing was said about being restricted to the Cyb series, so other figures could pop up into the mix.

There's been some speculation among a few fans, though, that the BotCon Waspinator just might be the "free" toy (keep in mind, that's only speculation; we don't know for sure... yet). Heh, I'll be Scott'd be thrilled to hear about being given away for free, eh?

Outtsyder, who can hear Scott saying, "I've said it before and I'll say it again; they really know how to hurt a guy..."

Personally, I'm betting on the free toy being one of the Energon Divebomb repaints. Given that the Primus attendees can only get one of them, and that there's NO WAY anyone else can get one except for eBay, I'd imagine the "free toy" will be a mold that's used another time at Botcon, so they don't do such a low run on a mold used nowhere else and with such unique paint apps.

Personally, I'm betting on the non-box set toys going something like this:
- Other Energon Divebomb repaint w/ As-Yet-Unknown toy
- Two-set of Waspinator and Terrorsaur, who's repainted from the other flipchanger jet
- Another purchasable toy, given that there's less toys in the boxset this year? (Pre-BW Megatron? Scorponok?)
