Project NBE.... My mix of Movieverse and Beast Wars :D

Unread post by Tor »

Authors Note: No magic portals, no questionable websites, no universe jumping. My twist on classic concept of a Beast Wars fic. Hopefully it's not too not-understandable. Its too late to even be conscious right now. Oh well. Enjoy.

Project NBE

Protologue

Doctor Robert Jacobson tingled with excitement. After years and years of research, countless board meetings, and a divorce, he had done it.

Jacobson was a scientist at New Essence Co, a large wealthy company that led the world into a new age of science. NECo was responsible for creating a living, breathing function specimen of the Xenomorph, once believed to be a mere animatronics. But NECo had brought those sci-fi creatures to life. The world was took by storm as Xenomorphs were integrated into normal life, replacing dogs as guards, and keeping toddlers entertained at local zoos.

But as time when on, the government deemed the Xenomorphs too hazardous to live; their senses were paranormal, their tails were scythes, and their very blood was acidic. All of the obsidian aliens were stamped out within weeks. The sun of the Xenomorphs had come to set.

And a new dawn was coming, as Jacobson became a lead in NECo’s latest project. A project that would surpass the raising of the Xenomorphs out of Hollywood. But it was kept secret from the world; this time, NECo would be careful about releasing the new species into the world. Slowly, was the key word in this project.

That time had passed. The first prototype of the project was set.

Jacobson’s quarters normally were a comfortable clutter of datasheets and crowded whiteboards, but today, the floor was cleared, the metal counters gleamed. Attention in the room was focused on a sheeted figure standing quietly in one corner. Sharp angles and odd protrusions only added to the excitement of four out of the five people in the room. A long black cable ran underneath the sheet, hooked up to a computer that flashed through complex blueprints and computer code.

“Gentlemen,” Jacobson announced proudly, speaking to the small collection of three men in suits-, “and lady,” -and one woman, “may I humbly present the crown jewel of NECo. I give you the first part of,” Jacobson tugged gently on the cover, letting it slid to the ground with a gentle whoosh, “Project Non-Biological Extra-terrestrial.”

Murmurs of astonishment and approval flitted from the majority of the observers. The first specimen of Project NBE (Non-Biological Extra-terrestrial) was a tall, graceful being about six feet high with a subdued color scheme. The curves obviously made it feminine, but it was not fully humanoid. One observer commented on the chest, which resembled the head of a grotesquely large bird, while another commented on the back of the feet, which looked like taloned toes. The helm of the wondrous… thing was spiked with black feathers.

“What is this… abomination?” the woman asked, her slate eyes narrowing behind horn-rim glasses.

Jacobson actually laughed. “My dear woman, this is the beginning of the betterment of the world. This particular specimen is labeled ‘Airazor.’ And-”

“Excuse me?” a man wearing a pinstriped suit and sunglasses asked. He lifted his glasses with one hand so he could look Jacobson in the eye, “Did you just say ‘Airazor’? From the ridiculous cartoon?” Jacobson nodded, all traces of laughter gone. “What was it? Transformers Feral Animal Edition?” The other two men and the woman laughed heartily.

“No. No, it was Beast Wars, Transformers. Perhaps the best crafted show of its time,” Jacobson said loyally. When he was younger, he had been an avid fan.

“‘Of its time.’ Exactly,” the woman pointed out. “This is the twenty-first century; let’s not look back on the nineteen hundreds.”

“But we must!” Jacobson said urgently, desperately trying to get the admiration he had in the first stage of the game. “Airazor shall be the start the race of Cybertronians-” More laughter interrupted his speech, but he plowed on never the less, “-that we have all seen from countless TV shows and movies are beneficial to our race and our planet!”

An older gentlemen with slightly arched back leaned forward, head tilted curiously, “Yes, so says the media. But I recall the Cybertronians draining our planet for their own agenda.”

Jacobson sighed exasperatedly, “Give me ten minutes to explain.”

Everyone in the room nodded their heads, except the tight-lipped woman.

“Yes, we have seen that Cybertronians, in the shows, drained our planet for Energon. But in this case, we don’t have that problem, because we, NECo have been able to control what this new species needs and wants. We are pleased to say that these incoming specimens will run on clean electricity and solar energy. No energon.”

“Now who’s to say that’s a bad thing?” Sunglasses spoke up again. “Wasn’t energon supposed to be more… efficient than diesel?”

Shaking his head, Jacobson replied, “As of now, we are trying to unravel the enigmas surrounding the conversion of fossil fuels to energon. Believe us, once we find out how to convert and utilize energon, we will.”

The woman pursed her lips, looking discontent.

“Now this project has one main reason. Our world’s safety. NBEs, or Cybertronians, are stronger, faster, and come with more gadgets built in than James Bond in Casino Royale,” Jacobson beamed. “Also, given that we are starting out with models that have beast modes, NBEs will be able to keep eyes on the biosphere without disturbing the specific community in which they reside. Another benefit, they will be able to shift into there ‘robot’ mode, the current state it is in now, and fix any problem without calling in for backup.”

“How is this thing supposed be ‘non-biological’ if its part bird?” the woman asked in a triumphant tone. “Explain that.”

“One word: Nanites,” Jacobson was still smiling. He loved it when he was allowed to prattle about his work, and the last few years of secrecy had been killing him. “We had a basic structure of the design, the protoform, and then the nanites meld together to make the armor, and the synthetic flesh.”

Nods were passed around the room; the idea was sound enough. But the woman wasn’t done yet. Looking borderline furious, she stabbed a finger at Jacobson, “I’ve watched an episode of Transformers. These… monsters are just violent. That’s what happened, fighting, blasters, bombs. How will this help us?”

Jacobson raised his hands in a calming gesture, “They aren’t authorized to use their weapons unless cleared with the government’s approval.”

“So you admit they have weapons?!” the woman’s voice crept up an octave.

“Ma’am, I assure you, they will not be able to use them unless NECo accesses their core and onlines their weaponry. And that will only happen in a state of war.”

She looked unwilling to give in, “Mark my words, no good will come of this.”

“Marked,” Jacobson confirmed. “Any questions? Or may I begin start up?”

No one said a word; everyone was intrigued to see the NBE come to life. Jacobson smiled slightly as he turned his back, and then began typing away on the computer that connected to Airazor. The computer hummed has the screen flashed ‘Uploading Files 13%’. Behind the load box, windows were flashing past, one looked like a Wikipedia page filled with words to tiny to read, the other a Youtube video of an animated scene with green rhinoceros standing next to an Airazor in a canyon, yet another page was labeled ‘BWINT’ with a background of flags.

“What’s all that?” the woman asked.

“Did you create sparks?” Sunglasses inquired at the exact same time.

Jacobson grabbed a mug with ‘Bester Daddy’ scribbled on it in crooked letters (it was a gift from his daughter), taking a sip pensively before answering both questions, “I’m uploading all of Airazor’s personality files and computer codes, so when she wakes up, she’ll be at human level intelligence. She’ll be able to walk and talk; at the same time, she’ll be an almost exact copy of her origin in Beast Wars. Except without the spark,” Jacobson looked mildly disappointed. He had toiled for months trying to create the famed spark, but obviously failed. “She isn’t actually ‘living’ but she’ll think she is.”

“A pity,” Sunglasses murmured, nodding at Jacobson’s expression.

The upload was nearly complete. Airazor’s empty shell somehow looked more alive. Colors became vibrant and striking as more and more information was loaded into her core.

“Upload complete,” the computer announced in its halting way. Airazor’s optics brightened for the first time.

“Look out world. Here comes Airazor,” Jacobson whispered.

Oooh! :O

Interesting! I wanna read more! :D

It's well written, although I find it suspicious that everyone knows what Transformers are, even the names and stuff. :D And I find it sad that they won't have sparks or complete free will.

Unless that's the twist that comes later? :'D

I have a question - why Airazor? :0 Just curious! I tihnk she's an excellent choice for multiple reasons. :3

At first I was reluctant to read because of the sadnesses listed above but...then I got curious....would they be dumb enough to make the Preds aswell? you know...like Tarantulas!? XDDD Or Rampage? ._. Or Megtron? o-o Or the unruly Maximals like DC or Rattrap? Or Dinobot?

This fic is my baby, and I'm glad you like it.
It's well written, although I find it suspicious that everyone knows what Transformers are, even the names and stuff. Very Happy And I find it sad that they won't have sparks or complete free will.
Well these five particular people are informed important people. I'm going with they each recieved a small summary of what Project NBE was about, so they researched more. Aside from that, the older gentleman and Jacobson are transfans just like us... well give or take twenty/fourty years. :D
Unless that's the twist that comes later? :'D
*singsong* Maaaaybe
I have a question - why Airazor?
Well, Airazor isn't my favorite character, not even in my top three... but she just didn't get enough loving in the show, just cuz she wasn't scheming or borderline evil like Blackarachnia. She was a sweet, happy femme, who got an ungracious demise. And because she didn't have lots of development, I have a pretty free range with her... as long as I don't mutate her into an angry Predacon or something. :D

As for these guys, I'll reveal that Dinobot and Ranty are definitely going to be in this... but since they are unruly, they'll be sad mockeries of their true selves.... Tor-bot hazz planzz....

lol Transfans are WIN.

:D

:'D Yeah, I like writing Airazor for the same reasons. :D I tihnk she was really cool, bu they didn' focus on her at all... -_- So I always like to write her using those cool moments and having them happen more often. xD

;_; Not sad mockeries...!

>:3 But planz are good tooooo. >:3 Teeheeehehehehaaa....

omg, and I wanted to do a Movieverse crossover too! :D I as gonna use a plot device like that though. I was gonna make it so that Megatron's interference with the time stream offset some important details and once they hit the episode The Nemesis, time shifts BIG TIME, as well as dimension, and they're suddenly warped and stuff. OP, for example, ends up in his season 1 form while MEgatron reverts to TM form and other things. D: Some characters come back and some disappear. D: Once the shift ends, they end up in Movieverse, where they experienced a warp too - the Autobots have been shrunk to human size. D: And the Cons have risen from the dead and/or multiplied. DX (Or something. I never realy planned that part. :/ ) The point of shrinking the Bots was to make it so that they need the Beast Warriors to help them and they work together, not the Abots protecting their little buddies. :/

Blahblahblah, I didn't really plan the rest, but I thought it'd be interesting to see character comparisons and interaction and how the Realisticness of Movieverse could be blended with BW into a believable realistic Beast Wars thing. :D

So yeah. WAYYY underdeveloped. xD And I'm not sure if I'll ever write it but I like to imagine this or that scene. :3
