Faint

Author’s Note: The fact has finally been decided upon. Technically, Donovan, Ajax and Micheal aren’t officially Dinobot, Rattrap, and Megatron. Therefore, that makes them original characters. So . . . that means that Donovan belongs to me, Ajax belongs to Sapphire, and Micheal belongs to Starath. That’s fair, right?

I am a little bit of loneliness

A little bit of disregard

Megatron looked out the window, watching the rain pour down in the early morning. The mirror no longer functioned, and he now knew that what he had once thought of as temporary housing seemed to be more of a home than he had ever managed to live in.

Starath’s brother ran through the room, with Starath right on his heels, yelling at him about something or another that he probably did. The once-Predacon didn’t even turn.

A handful of complaints

But I can’t help the fact that everyone can see these scars

Five minutes later, Starath walked over to Megatron and sat next to him, leaning against his side. He sighed, and said, “I wish that I hadn’t been as cruel.”

“You were who you were. And it’s making you who you are today.”

“Star-ATH!!!”

“Oh, great. What now?” Starath grumbled, standing up and walking over to the door to her room.

“We’re going out for breakfast! You two want to come?”

“No, we’re fine!”

“Alright. We’ll be back in a few!” After a moment, the front door closed, and the girl sat back upon the bed, next to Megatron.

I am what I want you to want

What I want you to feel

“Megatron, please listen to me. I know that you’re bummed about not being able to be with the Predacons now. But you have to remember that this is all happening for a reason. I wish that I could find out the reason, but I can’t I wish that I could.”

“Starath, I know. But I . . .

“You can’t seem to let go.”

But it’s like no matter what I do

I can’t convince you to just believe this is real

Starath sighed. “Megatron, I know what you’re feeling. I know that you’re not believing this, because you can’t fit your mind around the fact that you’re human now. I wish that I could help you somehow, but I don’t know how. This is what was meant to be. Somehow, this is what was always going to happen. Neither of us knew that it was gong to happen, but you have to try to believe that it is real. That it is what had been planned for us.”

“You mean fate? Bah. Fate is nothing but a fairy-tale, as you humans would say.”

So I let go, watching you

Turn your back like you always do

He turned, facing away from her, unable to look into her eyes. Her voice followed him, though. “But some fairy-tails have come true.”

“Oh, really?”

“Look at Sinead and Dinobot. Tell me that wasn’t a fairy tale! They’re practically made for each other! And then there’s Sapphire and Rattrap. Them too. Don’t you consider those fairy tales come true?”

Face away and pretend that I’m not

But I’ll be here ’cause you’re all that I got

Megatron sighed, but didn’t turn back around. She had made a very good point. The fact that those other two couples were so well matched together seemed to be something from a tale from long ago. It seemed almost as if there were . . . someone . . . or something guiding them all together . . .

“Where’s Sinead,” Megatron asked, standing up.

“In the den, sleeping, why?”

“I have to speak with her.”

I can’t feel the way I did before

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

“Wait one second, Megs! She and Dinobot have been traveling for two weeks straight! I’m only happy that they crashed here for a few days to rest! You are not disturbing them!”

“They should be awake by now . . .”

“Megatron! Are you even listening to me?!”

Time won’t heal this damage anymore

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

He walked out of the room, leaving Starath to splutter and then sigh angrily. Her footsteps soon followed him out, and she hissed something at him, but he ignored her. With a glare, she fell into step behind him as he entered the den, and cleared his throat. Dinobot was asleep upon his side, leaning against Sinead lightly, who was sitting up and reading. She put down the large book, and asked, “What is it? Did something happen?”

I am a little bit insecure

A little unconfident

Megatron no longer seemed as audacious as he had been up in Starath’s room. Sinead waited patiently, until he asked, “Tell me if this is a fairy tale. Something not of this world.”

“‘This’? ‘This’ what?”

“Dinobot and myself being here.”

’Cause you don’t understand

I do what I can but sometimes I don’t make sense

Sinead blinked, as if confused for a moment, but just as Megatron was turning around, she replied, “I don’t believe that it’s a fairy tale.”

“Hah! See, Starath?”

“I believe that it’s by divine intervention.”

“. . . what was that?”

I am what you never wanna say

But I’ve never had a doubt

Dinobot stretched, yawned, and looked up at the two hosts. Starath was fuming, Megatron was shocked looking. Sinead continued, unaware of Dinobot waking up. Or, she could know, and chose not to acknowledge him for a moment. Either way didn’t matter. “Divine intervention. Dinobot believes that as well. See, I believe in fate and destiny, and I believe that we get there through trials of belief. Losing Dinobot in the valley was one trial. Meeting him as a human was another. Coming face-to-face with you, believe it or not, was a strain for me. I had nightmares for a few days.”

“Slag, she did,” Dinobot said through another yawn. “Woke me up every time, and I sleep in the living room until we’re married.”

It’s like no matter what I do

I can’t convince you for once to hear me out

“But there is no possible way that this can be real!”

“Megatron–”

How can you simply base it upon faith?! How can you say that there was actually a plan–”

“Megatron!”

“–involving us, and that we didn’t know about it?! For the sake of the slaggin Pit–”

“Will you shut up?!”

So I let go, watching you

Turn your back like you always to

He stopped, and looked at Sinead, who was shaking slightly, her face pained, but flushed in anger. “Do you want to know about fate? Do you honestly want to know why I believe what I believe?! Do you?!”

“Sinead,” Dinobot whispered, worried. His hand rested upon hers, but she shook her head, and glared up at the tall once-Predacon.

Face away and pretend that I’m not

But I’ll be here ’cause you’re all that I got

“A man was killed on August 27, 2003, all due to my father’s actions. I was there. I saw him die. It is not chance that his final moments in life crossed my and my father’s. It was predestined. I know that my days are numbered. I accept that. I know that my time with Dinobot is limited. That also, I accept. I can’t change how long I’ll be here, in this life, with any of you. Neither could that motorcyclist’s.” Her glare softened, and her temper abated slightly. With a sigh, she bowed her head, and then stood. “Megs, there are some things that you can’t control in life. Fate is one of those things. Get used to it.”

I can’t feel the way I did before

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

He watched her storm off to the bathroom, and close the door after her. Dinobot sighed. “That went well.”

“How can you call that well?” Starath asked quietly. “I can hear her crying.”

Dinobot stood, and walked after Sinead, saying, “She didn’t kick him. I’m satisfied. ’Nead, let me in.”

The door opened, admitted Dinobot, and closed.

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

“Oh, great job, Megatron. Absolutely superb. She’s gonna hate me, no thanks to your little tantrum!”

“Tantrum?!”

“Well what else can I call it?!”

I can’t feel the way I did before

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

This time, Starath turned, and walked up to the kitchen, and started puttering around, busying herself, to try to figure things out. Megatron sighed, and sat in an overstuffed armchair, resting his head in his hands. His thoughts were all jumbled, and he couldn’t figure out what exactly what was bothering him. How could he? Cybertronians’ minds work differently. Logic dominated every and all thoughts, leading them from one point to another in a straight line, not letting them ramble as a human mind, Megatron was realizing.

Finally, a conclusion came to mind. Hopefully, it would be acceptable.

I can’t feel the way I did before

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

He stood, walked up to the kitchen, and touched Starath’s shoulder, causing her to spin. Before she could lose her balance, he gently grabbed her elbow, keeping her standing. He bit his lip once, then lowered his gaze, and whispered, “Forgive me. I did wrong, in bringing up that whole situation.”

“Well, you should be sorry. You made Sinead cry, and I don’t think that was a good idea.”

Time won’t heal this damage anymore

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

He winced, and then looked down at his feet, then back up at Starath. She pointed to a cupboard. “There’s a measuring cup in there. I need that, and I need a cup of whole milk. That’s the stuff with the red sticker. Then hand me two more eggs.”

“What are you making?”

“Scrambled eggs, toast and something else.”

“Sausage?”

“Carnivore.”

I can’t feel

Don’t turn your back on me

Just as the eggs and sausages were done, Sinead came up from the den. Her eyes were slightly puffy and red. Starath ran over to her, hugging her. She smiled, sniffed, and sighed. “It smells wonderful.”

“Yeah, well, Megs suggested the sausages.”

“Meat!” came a bellow from below. Dinobot soon came up, and sniffed appreciatively. “Wonderful.”

Sinead walked over to Megatron, and then looked around his frame, to watch him turn the sausages once more, keeping them warm. He looked down at her, then away. “Forgive my words, please. I’m sorry I caused you to bring up painful memories.”

I won’t be ignored

Time won’t heal

Sinead smiled, hugged him lightly, and said, “Since you asked so nicely, and since you’re making wonderful-looking sausage patties, then I’ll let you get off easily.”

“Primus. Humans think only about food, don’t they?” Megatron muttered.

Sinead’s stomach growled. She reached into the pan, and pulled a sausage disk, and blew on it and her fingers at the same time, then bit into it, making faces as the hot food nearly burnt her mouth. After swallowing, she popped the rest into her mouth, and licked her fingers. “Dinobot, take cooking lessons from Megatron. Those have to be some of the best sausages I’ve had.”

“So I’m outdone?!”

“You’ve never made me anything!”

Don’t turn your back on me

I won’t be ignored

Megatron, after putting the hot meat upon a plate on the table, looked back at Dinobot. “I would start, if I were you, Donovan.”

“Shut the slag up, Micheal.”
