Queen’s
notes: This whacked me up side the head for two nights as a dream and when I
wrote it down, it took it’s own life. I
REALLY like this fic and how it turned out (I’m sorry if there’s any typos
or spelling goofs I didn’t get). Flames
with affect me not at all, and bad reviews shall be tossed to my friend that
likes to burn stuff.
I own Depth Charge and the COLONY of Omicron not at all, but the CHARACTER of Omicron I do own. Whether or not she was me in the dream…I have no clue. So I wrote this in third person. Now on with the…(dream? Fic?)…story! Please R&R!!! (will give ice cream to good reviewer)
The
night was dark. But not in a
forbidding or threatening way, but a rich and textured darkness that would
envelop one and bring with it a sense of calm.
A peace of mind that seem as if the very fabric of time and space had
slowed, or stopped, just to enjoy the blackness of that peace.
The
pouring rain fell in sheets of dark silver droplets.
Running down leaves and needles of grate towering redwoods, maples and
willows, before falling once more to the ground.
Smaller trees seamed to lift their branches to the little drops of water
that would ran down to their roots.
Tranquillity.
A
bare foot stepped onto the fallen pine needles and leaves, then another.
A girl walked slowly through the gigantic trees.
Her head was tilted back, the loose blond hair (that had two blue streaks
in the front) fell to the middle of her back, as she walked with bluish/green
eyes closed to the world and arms limp at her side.
She wore a long purple (or was it pink?) nightshirt that came down to
just above her knees, the sleeves to her elbow. The shirt was soaked, like the owner, and had a polar bear in
a arm chair on it with the words above and below the picture saying:
“Alaska
Is My
Home
Sweet Home.”
She
stopped by an ancient Redwood, just standing there, listening and enjoying it
all. The sound of thunder in the
distance. The subtle shifting of
the branches above. The light
creaking of bark all around. The
wind tugging mischievously at her wet hair and weaved around her legs and arms.
The rain on her face that rolled down her body.
It drowned all the pain and nightmarish memories away, taking them to the
forest floor to be soaked up in the damp earth.
But
there was another in this forest of dreams.
Two
crimson jewels pierced the night, moving this way and that.
Not trusting this blackness. His
form was massive, standing high over most heads.
Surprise.
Innocent
(but stained) eyes opened and look over to the other being in awe, watching as
he opened wings that where muck larger the she would have thought possible.
His
optics dulled to a deep ruby color as he looked to the starless sky, looking for
something that he knew wouldn’t be there.
Pain.
It
stung and cut through that warm blanket of blackness.
It
was the pain and grief of all those that were lost.
So
strong were the emotions that tears threatened to come to the girl’s eyes.
She swallowed hard and looked down, not wanting to…to break that
promise.
Alarm.
His
head jerked up and his optics flashed back to the blood red color as he turned
to look her.
She
looked back up as well.
Shock.
The
two just stared at the other in surprise, bluish eyes and red optics holding one
another.
Embracement.
She
looked away first, “Sorry.”
Depth
Charge took a step forwarded, as the girl started to hide behind the Redwood.
He knew those eyes; he’d know them anywhere…
“Wait,
don’t go.” His voice was deep
and surprisingly soft at the same time. It
was laced with old pain and experience.
She
stopped and looked up to his face partly behind the great old tree.
The
ray shifted his wings, spreading them out in a way he hoped wouldn’t scare the
girl off, as he knelt to be more at her level, “What’s you name?”
It’s
okay I wont hurt you.
Her
eyes widened as she saw his true size, “Omic--” she stopped, “Omie.
Every one calls me Omie…”
Depth
Charge looked at her for some time, as the wind twined around his wings.
Those eyes, he could feel the life and energy coming from
‘Omie’ just as she could from him.
Omie?
That was an odd name for a human, but those eyes!
How could it be? Was it even
possible for that to happen?
“What’s
your full name?”
She
shifted her feet, looking anywhere but at him.
Would he be mad? Would he hate her for her name?
She looked into his optics…and couldn’t look away.
He held her gaze; he had to know, NEEDED to know.
“Omicron,
I’m called Omicron…”
His
optics widened in surprise, then narrowed in a frown as Depth Charge stared down
at her. The darkness seemed
to take a different tone, and the wind picked up.
Omicron’s
own eyes went wide as a little fear pushed it’s way up her spine.
Was he getting mad at her? Oh
God, she couldn’t stand having another person mad at her.
Depth Charge wasn’t like him; the ray wouldn’t react like he
would. Right?
Fear.
“I…I
took the name in respect.” The girl said, as if hoping that might make it better.
The wind pulled at her nightshirt, like it was trying to drag her away to
another part of the forest where the blackness was still welcome.
Those
eyes…her eyes had fear, and a shadow of pain.
The kind of pain that’s been lived with for a long time and, by the
looks of it, she didn’t know how to get rid of it.
But
that fear was also aimed at him. She
was afraid of him…? Why would
his—
“WAIT!”
He called as Omicron let the wind take her away as she ran with it.
Something’s
wrong.
Omicron
gasped and leaned back against a willow, the wind given energy now gone.
It wasn’t suppose to be so cold. She
dropped to her knees, panting.
Why
did she run?
“Because
I thought he’d be like HIM.” She whispered softly to her self,
looking at her hands, “How could you think something that stupid?
You were stupid to run! But
he wouldn’t have liked you ‘cause of your name.”
She
looked up into the dark leaves far above, fighting tears and those Primus
forsaken memories. Why did she have
to see these things? It wasn’t
her real memory…or was it?
Agony.
Omicron
held it all in, the images, memories, fear and the tears.
Oh good lords! The memories!
How could they even be real? Her
knuckles were white, jaws clenched and eyes shut tightly trying to block it out
and not cry. No tears, never would
she let him know what he did to her.
She promised…
Save
me…
The
human threw her head back and gave a misery filled scream, the tone was
something that no human should have possessed.
Lords,
some one! Please!
She
screamed at the images, the memories, the fear, the pain and the unfairness that
she had to see them. Her hands opened and closed, figures curled like claws as she
lashed out at phantoms.
ANY
one, help me!
Strong,
metal hands picked her up completely into equally strong arms as twin glowing
rubies looked down at her softly, “Let it out, and let this forest know.” A
gentle voice said, “It’s okay, I’m here.”
Things,
people and places past in front of her mind’s eye so fast and so vividly that
it was hard to do any thing but scream tell she couldn’t even do that any more
and just staring down at nothing. Omicron
was trapped in those memories. Her
memories…
I’m
here.
The
rain pelted down on the two beings, the massive transmetal dwarfed his new
charge that he held both as carefully and comfortably as he could.
I’ll
save you this time.
Depth
Charge looked down at the girl, Omicron. Ironic?
Or some thing else? He could
feel most of what she was feeling, thanks to the dreamer’s forest.
I’ll
protect you.
He
stared down into those pained yet still innocent eyes, how could an entire
colony be reborn into one small girl?
Depth
Charge let her cling to him as he eased himself down, leaning back against the
tree. He curled his wings,
shielding Omicron from the now icy wind and hard rain.
Omicron.
His
Omicron. His people.
His friends. His family,
he had them all back…all of them were reborn into this one girl.
His
Omicron.
Depth
Charge looked down intently at Omicron as she was slowly freed from her pasts.
She still needed to be protected, and Primus be slagged if he failed this
time! He was given his world back
and he would keep her safe.
“Lords
help me…”
“I’ll
protect you, I’ll keep you safe.”
“…You
will?”
“I
swear.”
I swear it, my Omicron.
