Dating Death
By: Onyx Wing
My parents are Nightblaze and Mooneyes. Nightblaze, my dad, is a black ‘bot with red accents, green eyes, and a bat as a beast mode. My mom, Mooneyes, is a silver ‘bot, with almost white eyes, blue accents, and also has a bat for a beast mode. They’re both about eight feet in height, their ears in beast mode adding a few inches. Together they made me, Nightmoon. I’m a light gray ‘bot, with blue eyes and gold accents. I stand about nine feet tall, which means I’ve passed them both height wise. Nevertheless, when I bring a boyfriend home that’s almost twice as tall as they are, they aren’t exactly pleased. I can tell where this is going….Oh, well. Maybe since my boyfriend is bigger than dad, he won’t try to scare him off like the last one. Ugh. I just hope neither of them loses their temper…..
My boyfriend was standing in the doorway, smiling as my parents had to look up at him. I blushed, he hadn’t said anything to me about coming over! I ran upstairs to check if I was decent, and my boyfriend had introduced himself by the time I got back. Well, at least he’d used his assumed name, Tank, instead of his real name. If my parents ever knew I was dating Rampage, Maximal enemy number one even though they created him, they would probably try to kill both of us. I smiled at him from across the table, he was sitting on one side, me on the other, with my parents at either end. You would swear they were trying their hardest to distance themselves from him and intimidate him at the same time. As we were eating dinner, the room was almost silent except for the first time my mom heard his voice, I swear she jumped six feet out of her chair. He smiled disarmingly, saying, “The food is delicious, Mrs. Blaze.” That was what my mom insisted everyone call her. She nodded once her heart slowed to a normal pace. I could tell he was trying hard not to scare her, and I guess so did she. She murmured a quiet thanks, and when everyone was finished, quickly excused herself to clean dishes. I guessed that he’d told my parents, but wanted to surprise me, because my dad didn’t seem mad about him coming, other than the usual about him being my boyfriend. I sighed as he went into the typical, ‘so, you like my daughter’ talk, resting my face in my hands. Ra-er, Tank listened to every word, making sure to let my dad know he was paying attention. Well at least he used his manners. My dad turned to me, asking, “So, you met him at school?”
“Dad, please don’t talk like he’s not sitting next to you.” I insisted, then continued, “But yes, I did.”
He nodded, seeming to be satisfied. He stood up, telling us he was going to ‘help Mom with the dishes’. I sighed, that probably meant he was going to spy on us from the kitchen. I decided to really annoy him. I winked, telling Tank to play along…..
