Black Voids
Part Four
By: Hacker
Rachel’s wrist was throbbing in terrible pain and she
stole a glance down at it. The cloth she had used to
wrap it was completely soaked in her red blood.
The cloth couldn’t hold much more and already the blood was going down her hand in little streams.
It needed to be treated soon or she wouldn’t be able to use it at all.
She turned her attention back to Megatron, “What do you want with us?”
Draconia had her gun leveled at Megatron, but since he had his gun aimed at Hacker she made no move to fire.
“Well, my plans were to capture you and gain a Predacon, but since you cleverly turned one of my most
loyal crewmembers against me to aide you in creating a new Maximal, I guess I’ll have to settle for you
alone,” Megatron said giving her an evil little smile.
“Not today, Megatron!” Optimus yelled from the air above Rachel and Draconia.
The roar of an engine also told them Rattrap was on the way.
Optimus landed in front of the two and started shooting at Megatron with every gun he had.
“Very well Primal, but Miss Hacker and I will have our little chat one day!” Megatron declared before
transforming to his flight mode and taking off.
Optimus didn’t stop firing until Megatron was well out of site. Rattrap arrived about that time and gave the
entire area a look around.
Optimus turned his attention to Rachel and the new Maximal, “Good work, Hacker.”
Draconia stuck out her hand to Optimus, “Howdy!”
“Optimus Primal, leader of the Maximals,” Optimus took her hand, his completely covered hers, “And you are?”
“Draconia, Maximal flight specialist,” Draconia answered and withdrew her hand. She turned her
attention back to the fallen Waspinator, “He needs help.”
Optimus and Rattrap became alerted at the sight of the ex-Predacon, probably because they didn’t know about
the “ex” part.
They aimed their guns at the stasis-locked insect, but were stopped when Draconia jumped into the line of
fire, “Wait! He helped save me!”
“Probably just to save his own butt!” Rattrap muttered, keeping his gun aimed at Waspinator.
Optimus considered this for a moment, “We’ll take him back to base and repair him, but as soon as he’s
finished being repaired, I want a word with him.”
Rachel and Draconia nodded, but Rattrap didn’t like it, “What?! You’re gonna trust the Predacon!?”
Optimus looked down at the rat, “Yes, I am. You just heard he helped save Draconia,” He looked back at the
new bot, “Carry Waspinator and follow us back to base.”
“Finally!” Rachel said slinging her pack on to a shoulder with her good arm, “I hope Rhinox can repair
organic beings as well as robots.”
She stepped on her hover board and suddenly got the feeling someone was watching her. Optimus and
Draconia were already in the air, headed back to base.
Rachel looked over at Rattrap, who was just transforming back to beast mode, “Hmm...”
She shook her head and took off after Optimus.
*Predacon base, five megacycles later*
Tarantulas had been repaired, but was now serving monitor duty as punishment.
Megatron was in his quarters, sitting in his energon bath thinking out loud, “That human, a very powerful
adversary indeed...”
He gave his rubber ducky a squeeze, “She would make a very powerful ally if I could just...”
Another thought struck his head, and he snapped his fingers. Megatron chuckled as he pushed a button and
a com link opened between him and Tarantulas, “I have a most important job for you if you think you can
handle it...”

*Meanwhile at the Maximal base*
“There ain’t no slagging way you’re getting within five meters near me with that needle in your hands!”
Rachel warned backing up against the wall, trying to stay away from Rhinox.
Rattrap was in the room leaning against the opposite wall, looking rather amused at the whole situation.
When the group had gotten back to base, Waspinator had to go into the CR chamber and Rachel had her wrist
looked at by Rhinox. He said she would have to have some small surgery to be able to fully use her wrist
again.
Now he was trying to give her some pain killer that would probably knock her out for the surgery. The
only problem was he couldn’t get near her.
Rhinox cast a glance at Rattrap, “Care to help at all?”
“Nah, dis is much more fun watchin,” The rat commented.
Rhinox’s face grew stern, “That’s an order Rattrap.”
Rattrap let loose a sigh and pushed away from the wall and walked towards the human.
“Hey, hey!” Rachel yelled as she was grabbed rather quickly by Rattrap and escorted toward the metal bed
in the middle of the room, “Leggo my armo!”
“Listen, you want to be able to use that wrist again, you’re going to have to let me do this!” Rhinox
reasoned, “The shot won’t hurt that much and you won’t feel anything else!”
Rachel still hesitated, but was forced towards the table by Rattrap, “Come on, Big Green knows what he’s
doing. Uh, right?”
Rachel rolled her eyes, “That’s really reassuring.”
Still she complied anyway and sat down on the bed and held her wrist out to Rhinox.
He shook his head, “You have to lie down.”
“No, I like sitting up,” Rachel objected, “That way I can see what you’re doing.”
Rhinox gave a sigh, “But I can reach your wrist better if you lie down and it’ll be less pain for you if you
do as I say!”
Rachel was about to protest again when Rattrap’s hand clamped down on her shoulders and dragged her on her
back. She had no choice but to put her feet on the bed as well.
Rhinox nodded to Rattrap as he took Hacker’s wrist and put it on a flat surface.
Rattrap was about to leave when Rachel’s good hand reached out and grabbed on of his hands, “Where do you
think you’re going?”
“Away.”
“No! You are staying here!” She pulled him over and clasping his hand held it in a death grip over her
eyes, “This way I can’t see the needle!”
“But why do you need me!? You could cover your eyes with one hand!”
“Support Rattrap, support!” She said as she felt the sting of alcohol being rubbed onto her wound.
Her hand tightened on Rattrap’s and he winced, “That wasn’t even the shot!”
“If you hadn’t noticed, I don’t like anything to do with shots and I’m going to wince, so you do to!!”
Rachel warned.
“Alright, I’m going to give the medicine to you now,” Rhinox informed and watched Rattrap’s face contort to
that of pain.
Rachel had put the death grip on Rattrap’s hand had it covering her face at the moment. He could feel her
breath coming out in short, panicked gasps, “Why are ya so afraid of a little needle?”
“Bad memories,” She gasped, covering her eyes even more as she saw Rhinox step toward her wrist with the
needle ready in his large hands.
“You may feel just a little pinch of pain,” Rhinox warned as he slipped the needle into her scorched
skin.
Rachel tensed really badly for a moment, her knuckles started to turn white and Rattrap was having a hard
time feeling his hand at the moment. He reached over with his free and put it on top of Rachel’s, trying to
get her to loosen up a bit.
“Done,” Rhinox said, and took out the needle to put it on an empty tray.
Rachel slowly loosened her grip on Rattrap as the medicine started taking effect on her. Her eyelids
got really heavy, and she patted Rattrap’s hand,
“Thanks...”
And she was out.
Rattrap withdrew his hands and rubbed them, “Dang! For a human, she sure does have a grip!”
Rhinox nodded and started working on repairing the damaged ligaments, and torn cartilage. He wanted to
be well over done before she woke up again. He didn’t want to be around when she did.
Rattrap went back to his normal place on the wall, not entirely sure on why he was staying.
Rhinox looked up from his work to glance at his best friend and then back to his work, “Rattrap, I’ll need
you to alert Optimus when she’s awake again. He needed to talk to her."
Rattrap nodded, “Yea, I got some questions for her too. Like how could she trust Waspinator?”
“Why shouldn’t she have? If it hadn’t been for Waspinator, Draconia’s spark would have gone out,”
Rhinox replied without looking up.
“Yea, but what if it’s another Pred trick?” Rattrap countered, “I’ve seen Waspinator act mad at Grape Face
before.”
“So you’re saying that you think that Waspinator is playing us all like fools just for Megatron?”
“It’s like I always say,” Rattrap said glancing at the sleeping human, “Once a Pred, always a Pred.”
“What about Dino-bot?” Rhinox said, knowing he was treading dangerous water.
Rattrap seemed to freeze on the spot and a look of pain came across his face. His optics darted to
Rhinox’s face and then lowered.
“Rhinox,” Rattrap said turning away and toward the door, “Don’t even go there.”
Then with the opening and closing swish of the door, he was gone.
